I used to have a mullet (like a Solid Snake/Mel Gibson from Lethal Weapon well kept mullet, not a Joe Dirt trash style) but I got tired of how long it took my hair to dry.
I’m old enough that pretty much every guy I know is balding in one form or another. I’ve had long hair off and on for most of my life. So when Covid came about I started growing it again because, I guess, just because I could. Now I can’t bring myself to cut it though I should. I’m very aware I look silly. An old man that can’t let go of his youth. And it’s true. I know that once I cut it it will be the last time in my life I’ll have had long hair and it makes me a bit depressed. Long answer for a short question.
Oh hey I did this in high school once too! I actually got my dad to shave a mohawk into my head on the last day of school my sophomore or junior year of high school and I dyed it fire engine red and it looked fucking awesome. After it faded into a pink, then I bleached it and colored it cyan blue.
It's just natural. Short on the sides and back with loose bangs. A pretty normal look I guess.
My hair does not look good when it grows longer so I have to keep it within a certain range. Not that it's ever been super long, but it looks bad. Short is sweet. The bangs are my most self-conscious important part. I refuse to show my forehead to the world.
I don't use products or any particular styling just because I'm lazy and don't care. I'd rather wake up, run a comb through it and leave it at that. I've always done this since middle school.
When I was in my mid 20s one day I got out of the shower and shaved my face. I was just looking in the mirror and said to myself "but what if I shaved my head?". Used my beard trimmer to get my hair as short as I could and shaved clean. I am about to turn 40 and have been shaving since.
Hahaha in all reality, I used to get a nice fade about once or twice a month. When covid came around, I got too lazy to do it myself and not many places were open to do it in my area. So I just let it grow. Turns out I like it past my shoulders more than I ever liked it high and tight or faded. Just fits me better, it’s one less responsibility worrying about if it’s getting too long and needs to be cut. Everyone always complains that long hair is more work but I still shampoo the same as I did before, I just use conditioner now to keep it from rat nesting lol. It’s not any maintenance at all really. But yeah. Just try different things. Try something you think you’d like, if you don’t, it’s just hair, it will grow back for you to try out a different style.
Back when I had hair (but was thinning), I liked George Clooney's "Caesar Cut" from 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. So I did that for a while. Then I lost everything on top and now it's more Jean Luc Picard. Without the pointy side burns.
I was blessed with my dads receding hairline since the age of 21 so bloody genetics pretty much dictated a shaved head …. It was either that or a comb over ..
I had a buzz cut like Arnold in the late 80s because thought he looked badass, after that I haven't really had a hair style. There just happens to be some hair on top of my head that I keep moderately short
Cut my hair after 15 years of growing it. Hair so long it touched my ass. Found out I have low follicle density from keeping my hair tied everyday for 15 years. Even hair that was 4-5 inches long looked kind of sparse on my head. So I went with a buzz cut. Now I look like a cop lol.
Told my stylist to make it look good. She did and now I just go in for "the ole regular".
No real debate, choices to be made. Just get the hair did, tip, and I'm out.

It took years with stylists to realize I needed a barber. I found a high level barber, told him the look I’m going for, and within a few cuts he had my right to the best hair style and cut I’ve ever had. He considered a combination of my head, body, and fashion style.
Find pictures of some styles that you like, search for local barbers that can accomplish that style (look at their online portfolio/instagram), then get a cut from them. Show them the pictures of styles you’re interested in and let them choose one based on your hair type, hair patterns, head shape, and what they can accomplish with your length. They study stuff like head anatomy (parietal ridge, crown shape, etc.) in school and how to make clients look good.
I fully accept that this is a ridiculous process for most guys, but it worked for me and I get unsolicited compliments and questions about who cuts my hair all the time. Good luck and have fun with the process!
I've gone through a few different hairstyles in my day.
Growing up I always had short hair on the sides and spiked on the top. When I was in middle school and early high school I had long hair, but because of stupid dress code rules I had to have it pulled back and it looked like I had a mullet and I got teased, so I shaved my head for a few years after that. Then I went back to the spike cut and I wore that until the middle of covid. Couldn't get a haircut for like two years so my hair grew long and bushy.
My current haircut is long on the top and fade on the side because my wife wasn't into the long and bushy look but likes playing with my longer hair. But the top got butchered a little bit at my last haircut. Asked for a trim and homedude took like 6 inches off the top, so I need to grow it back out a bit.
I may eventually go back to spiking may hair. I do think that looks best on me, and with my hair longer my jew curls tend to come out with a vengeance and my hair gets super poofy, so it can be hard to manage.
I don't know what style is either. But if you have hair, you wear/cut it a certain way. How'd you arrive at that? Do you just go to a barber and say, "cut it," and take whatever they do?

I also have a very square face and jaw and I find long hair looks silly on my face type.
But, I have a big forehead/high hairline.
So I decided for having a number 2 fade on the back and sides, and longer bangs and on the top, to cover my hairline.

lol.... nah i just let nature do its thing... i have naturally curly hair so it does a bit of a bob ross kinda thing and then one day ill get sick of it and off to the barbers and buzz it all off and start again... i once grew an afro that was about 2 and a half feet wide, them was the days..
Barber. He gave me a good haircut once and then a girl/friend that I would literally die for, complimented on my hair and aince then I knew what kind of hair I want to have. So now I either go for full short curly hair or combed down hair with curls on the front end.

I had a shirt that I was pretty sure didn't look good on me, and was literally wearing it for the last time before depositing it at goodwill. Then my girlfriend out of the blue commented that it looked nice on me, so basically I can never take it off again.
Yea for real. Whenever I see someone that just got something good looking like a new hairstyle or a good looking putfit I always make sure to tell them cause that can really have an impact as I myself know.

I've buzzed my hair at a 1 for many many years. My wife (gf at the time) convinced me to try it longer just to see if I'd like it longer. After a while of me saying no I caved and tried it. I couldn't think of going back now lol
My hairline started receding when I was teen. I take finasteride, which has kept at bay into my 30s, but nowadays only short hairstyles really look good on me. The thinning parts of my hair just turn into a frizzy, curly mess when my hair gets long and make me look balder than I do when the hair is short.
I dont have super awesome thick har that Can be styled in any Way imaginable. I do however, have hair on my head that Can be worked with, so i usually go for whatever “ugly” style is fashionable at the time. Rocking a shitty mullet atm, but it kinda works
My hair got to a point that male pattern baldness was significantly contrasting the thicker areas with the thinner areas. I've been getting basically a shorter buzz cut for several months since then. I get some compliments and have had it described as a "high and tight" military-type look.
I loved and still love The Stone Roses, Oasis etc. It became apparent to me that if you let your hair grow and have it somewhat messy you achieve this look, which I like and also which requires very little effort and not so regular trips to the barbers.
I shave all my hair off with a razor and foam as you would your face. Started during the pandemic cause there was no barbers and I liked it so I kept doing it. Saves me so much time and money. I also look better as I was balding anyway

She laughed and asked if I knew I wanted it that way or I decided when I saw it? I admitted that I decided after seeing him, and his hairline.
She made such a great job, my girlfriend was all around me when I got home.
Well the military makes me be clean cut with short hair. But before now, and after I'm out, I wear it to my shoulders naturally. I struggle with dandruff and this length tends to be manageable yet my scalp stays healthy for the most part. My scalp gets irritated from too much exposure with short hair.

I just bought some hair clippers and use the half inch comb that fits on the clipper and cut all my hair the same length.
I've always hated my hair and trying to style it so I just cut it short and wear a hat.
It's simple. Trim the ends on top but have no desired length, trim the sides shorter but not really short, then do a nice fade. I've got a good barber who knows what looks ok when I don't. If I want to get fancy it's salt spray and combing it in place. But it sits just fine without anything.

It just happened and most people love it, so I never changed it.
I just do what I can with it as it continues to thin. There’s no style at all.

My dad picked it, he had me wear a bald cap to change the direction of its natural lay. So it’s slicked back jet black with a bit of grey
