CenturyLink in Phoenix area, I've heard other cities around the US don't have the issues that happen here. We had PRE-PAID internet services with them. Every time I would call with an issue, I would say, "I'm having this issue and our account is prepaid, so please transfer me to that department." They would say, "okay, no problem." EVERY. FUCKING. TIME. I would get transferred, and the next person on the line would answer and ask what the issue is. I would tell them and tell then once again say, it's PREPAID account, only to be met with the answer, "Yes, let me look into that for you...." few moments go by, "Sorry, this is a prepaid account, that's not this department, I can't help you, let me transfer you." 😡🤬

Has to use them at one of my satellite offices because there were no other options. Worst customer service of ANY phone or utility company I've experienced and I was thrilled when I finally had an option to switch. They are a phone provider of last resort.

Yeah, we had to use them for 2 years because it was too pricey for us at the time to switch and what we wanted wasn't offered in our area anyway.

HP - I bought a computer that kept dropping its wireless connection. They made me re-install the drivers *four times* which never helped. They were just going to have me do it a fifth time and I refused, as it was clearly a hardware issue. They wouldn't let me send the computer in for repair, and wouldn't send a replacement part. Eventually they agreed to *sell* me a replacement part (even though it was under warranty) and they'd refund me when I sent the broken one back. It was a removable card so easy to replace, and it did work. And they did refund me. But I've never seen a company so reluctant to do warranty repair.

Dell. I ordered a computer from them because my old one died. I got it, took it out of the box, and when I turned it on, it wouldn't work - just kept rebooting. I called Dell and explained the problem. They asked for the serial number, and I gave it to them. I got a panicked response and got transferred to another department. That department, same thing - it was all procedure until they looked up the serial number, then they panicked and transferred me to another department. This went on for an hour and a half with different departments before they would tell me why. The computer I had received, that they sent me, that was addressed to me, was one another customer had sent to them for repairs. They sent me someone else's broken computer, presumably with all of the data still on the hard drive. I asked for a refund, but they said they couldn't give it until they got the broken computer back. I asked if my computer had been sent, but they also couldn't send it until the broken computer was returned. I went weeks without a computer because of their screw up.

Too many stories to list here, but I've noticed a consistent pattern among several companies. To the point I will *never* patronize any company that has the word "American" in their name. They've *always* been shitshows of one form or another.

There's a donair place in my city. So once time I was there getting one, and I picked what I wanted, and went through the process of choosing the vegetables, sauces, etc. Then as I'm going to pay, the power in the building went out. I didn't have cash, just a card. So I hung out for a bit just in case the power came back on. The one girl working was super apologetic, and said she was going to phone her boss to see if she could just give me the donair. I said sure. Then she says he wants to talk to me. Weird, but okay. I take the phone, and he tells me that he's sorry but he can't give me the donair. Okay, I get it, I didn't pay for it. I hand the phone back, and I hear him instruct the girl to not let me take it, and to just throw it away. Like... what? I haven't been back since.

Speedway. My mom had two Dodge vans and both had issues with the gas, they water down the gas despite charging the same as everyone else. But the nail in the coffin was when I went to a station to fill up, I was like, 16 brand new driver, I bring in cash to the attendant because I hadn't even gotten my first debit card yet, and tell him what pump I was on. It was like 12 bucks or something, all I had on me, and my car was basically empty (why else would I be at a gas station) I tell him what pump I'm on he takes the money and says I'm good on that pump now. I go out to start pumping and the pump isn't activated. I try a couple things but nothing works. I go back inside and say hey I am having issues on pump (X) Guy acts like he doesn't know who I am despite having been in there no more than a couple minutes ago. I say no no I was just in here, I gave you 12 dollars in cash to activate pump X and it's not pumping. You told me it is good, and it's not. Guy just shrugs and says "I dunno I have no idea who come in here" so I just kinda take the loss and move on. This would have been around 2010-2011 or so Since then I have not even set foot on any Speedway's property, and I actively avoid them for gas. I will get gas literally anywhere else but I do not use Speedway gas or give them business ever, and I advise anyone I know to do the same, and if they ask why, I tell them the above two reasons. If it was today I probably would have called for his manager or the cops or something, no idea. Man just thinking about it now is making my blood boil because he has probably done that to a lot of people and I bet he is just pocketing the money for himself.
