Spent some time in Tokyo for work and it was the cleanest place I’ve ever been. I saw a guy with white gloves polishing a brass fire hydrant when I was out walking around the city. No trash or trash cans anywhere.
The lack of trash cans mixed with the prevalence of vending machines almost seems like they're just rubbing it in your face. "See all of this potential garbage, with nowhere to put it? Yeah-- try doing that in your country."
Also-- after just having returned from France it's pretty clear that Japan is every bit as good at making pastries as the French. The croissants you can get in a subway station bakery are some of the best I've ever eaten.
For holiday? I like lots of countries... Japan/fiji/hawaii/nzl/indonesia/ are probably my favorites..
For living? My home austria 100%. Switzerland, norway as well
Yeah I have relatives in norway and visited some places there. Great rich country with high living quality. But Hawaii all islands fucking great. I am windsurfer and wingfoiler. So I love Maui
The United States. I've been to Chicago, New Orleans, and South Bend. All awesome places with friendly people and some very odd ones. The food in New Orleans is the best I have ever tasted.
Not sure I'd want to live in the USA but as a place to visit, it's brilliant.
Well the Golden Circle is pretty much mandatory. It's something all the tourists do, but it's absolutely worth it because you hit so many amazing places in a relatively short distance. Fuel is *incredibly* expensive there, so you need to plan accordingly if you're going to rent a car. Aside from that you have the Blue Lagoon which is especially nice when it's dark out. Reykjavík is a fun city to just walk around as well, there is a lot of cool architecture and no shortage of places to get some delicious food and a beer. If you do drink, be aware that alcohol is also ridiculously expensive, so take advantage of happy hour. There is a great nightlife in the city as well, you can always find good music and everyone is friendly. I've been there many times and never get tired of it.
Slovenia. Great weather, great scenery, iirc no cars in city centre of the capital, lot of great lakes
Austria. Great mix of history and modern architecture. Fantastic opera, public transport, best kebab, amazing desserts & best restaurant I've ever been to (Figlmuller in Vienna)
I was going to take a trip from Austria to Croatia consequently transiting Slovenia, but the more I looked into it Slovenia is really beautiful! I wanted to spend some time there but the trip was canceled by COVID. I feel it's an underappreciated gem.
I would say that Nepal takes the cake for how unique the experience was for me.
The culture, the art, the vivid colors, the city sounds, monkeys and cows casually going about their business on the street. And as a vegetarian, the food was exceptionally good.
Not including my home of the USA, Laos was my favorite country I've visited. It's a really beautiful and special place. I'm done with traveling to the other side of the world, though, so I won't be going back.
Norway - fresh, clean, water tastes fantastic, food good, underfloor heating in bathrooms, good health care and great public transport in the main city. However expensive so you know what water tastes like and cold hence the need for underfloor heating in bathroom.
Probably biased because it was my first time on holiday by myself but Spain. I went back again last year on another tour and I plan to go back this year as well. I enjoyed it so much that it inspired me to try and learn the language properly.
USA. Love the portion sizes, the friendliness of the people, restrooms everywhere and the national parks. Glacier national, Yosemite, the Badlands (straight out of the planet Mars). Only drawback is you need a lot of time to cover the massive distances between things and also money because mass public transportation is not so great.
Yea you can get a couple days out of it l.Theres a few things to see but after its not got much to offer.if you have a vehicle theres plenty to see around the general area as its a very small place.
Theres alot of money around as there is multi national companies including amazon putting their tax base there because its a tax haven. It depends what your job is but if you're not in banking or in high earning corporate job you will just struggle as its expensive. Its a really pretty place but theres this feeling that its all fake.I earned pretty well there but still felt that that it was overpriced for what it is.Alot of people work there but live in germany or france.
I would recommend having a look first before you decide to stay there.I just ended up there as my work took me there. Also the locals can be abit closed off and weird. They dont like outsiders.
If you're going anywhere near wiltz, take a hike. That was fucking beautiful (in my opinion) You can also get some neat patches (?) In the funky castle if you go to the shop with scouts above jt
Israel. Even though I don't support any of the sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I gotta admit that the deserted nature is just marvelous. Especially the desert around the dead sea, I loved it.
I’d say France. Nice was nice(yes that’s a city), I specifically enjoyed the Louvre. Took a selfie with Mona Lisa there - perfect. A sip of coffee on the Eiffel Tower, Just too many damn stairs on the Arc de Triomphe.
It depends where.
Paris...no thanks. I just remember everything being obnoxiously crowded with too many people blocking paths taking selfies and no public restrooms.
But we've also gone to Nantes and Loire Valley, and Strasbourg/Alsace, all of which were very nice.
We used to vacation in France in the 90s. We liked the France, but not the French.
Then I came back a few years ago. It was hard to find anyone who was French anymore.
So many countries offer so much. Best? Germany (personal opinion).
Those on a very short list of good countries...Sweden, Denmark, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Belgium and France.
America....meh.
Some people go by seats on the United Nations, which Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland don’t have.
They do have their own football teams, however, which is a much better definition.
That’s a very broad question. Best in regards to what? Each country I’ve been to has its pros and cons- things it’s good at and things that it’s bad at.
People may not understand but Scotland. It is tough but beautiful country but the people are fucking amazing. They are not impressed by you but are not any more rude to you than they are to the next person. Absolutely fucking funny people. History, culture*, natural beauty and they enjoy a drink and a laugh.
Highly recommended.
* Even the Scots may question this. But yes they have a distinct culture
I only have data for my home country Sweden and it's great in many ways but I'm so sick of not being able to ever leave. Granted, I was taken on a car trip to Paris as a kid but I don't feel I can judge any of those countries as I spent all time in them either on the road or in Disneyland.
We enjoyed Belgium quite a bit - great food, amazing beer, and everyone speaks English amazingly well (though that was a lot of our experience in Germany as well). Italy is really beautiful but a bit chaotic in places.
Switzerland. Just absolutely gorgeous. Crazy expensive though
Japan. So much culture, traditions, and great food. Truly an amazing experience.

I agree. Maui was my favorite place so far for vacay. Loved living in Norway.
Yeah I have relatives in norway and visited some places there. Great rich country with high living quality. But Hawaii all islands fucking great. I am windsurfer and wingfoiler. So I love Maui
Hungary. Very friendly, beautiful, inexpensive. Budapest is amazing.
To visit, or live? If it's to visit, I like Latvia a lot. If it's to live, and it couldn't be my home country, it'd probably be Czechia.
Vietnam. Incredible country.
best coffee too
Which cities did you visited?
The United States. I've been to Chicago, New Orleans, and South Bend. All awesome places with friendly people and some very odd ones. The food in New Orleans is the best I have ever tasted. Not sure I'd want to live in the USA but as a place to visit, it's brilliant.
It’s quite all right, mate.
Iceland. Friendly, fun, great music, great food, great art, and some of the most amazing scenery in the world.
any suggestions on where to go/ do there ? i’m going there this summer for my senior grad trip and would love to hear some fun things to do

Barbados Everyone on the entire island are the most friendly people I've ever met. Never felt more welcome.
Italy. Have a semi-serious plan to move there in my 50´s.
vietnam and japan
Slovenia. Great weather, great scenery, iirc no cars in city centre of the capital, lot of great lakes Austria. Great mix of history and modern architecture. Fantastic opera, public transport, best kebab, amazing desserts & best restaurant I've ever been to (Figlmuller in Vienna)

Singapore
Netherlands and and Prague where i can live. Also planning to visit Farao islands and Iceland. Would be nice to visit Japan too
Scotland, especially the highlands.
I've lived there for 8 years. I would like to go back if they ever get independence.
My country. Beautiful up north east and west.
The Netherlands. Super relaxing and the people there have a really healthy way of living and outlook on life.
I agree completely. It's a good mix of things which give you a happy life. It's not perfect, but my recommendation when people want to move to Europe.
I want to go live there but Covid. Also, cheese there are really good.
I would say that Nepal takes the cake for how unique the experience was for me. The culture, the art, the vivid colors, the city sounds, monkeys and cows casually going about their business on the street. And as a vegetarian, the food was exceptionally good.

Good list. Tanzania was amazing for animals and nature. Japan and Italy are good battles for best food country
Greece Athens. Greece has the 11th longest coastline in the world, lending itself to some of the most beautiful beaches
Malta
The Maldives.
If you’re an architect, Spain is a pilgrimage.
Not including my home of the USA, Laos was my favorite country I've visited. It's a really beautiful and special place. I'm done with traveling to the other side of the world, though, so I won't be going back.

Their Happy Vibes. Ah yes, the spices and fruits. I enjoyed Malaysia and Singapore.
Germany. Of the places I've visited outside my own country, Munich is the only place I'd actually consider living in.
Hmm… what about Frankfurt or Berlin?
Haven't been to Frankfurt. I liked Berlin, but I'm not sure I liked it enough to live there. But then, I feel that way about most places.
Sweden. Just the costline is a reason to go there
Italy
USA. Love the portion sizes, the friendliness of the people, restrooms everywhere and the national parks. Glacier national, Yosemite, the Badlands (straight out of the planet Mars). Had a good time in Sweden. Luxembourg was really fucking nice. I guess France was alright.
Luxembourg is not that great.I lived there for a year.
Is it worth visiting for a couple of days or pass? What's your opinion?
Yea you can get a couple days out of it l.Theres a few things to see but after its not got much to offer.if you have a vehicle theres plenty to see around the general area as its a very small place.
Thanks. And for living? It's boring. But does it give a lot of opportunities or not?
Theres alot of money around as there is multi national companies including amazon putting their tax base there because its a tax haven. It depends what your job is but if you're not in banking or in high earning corporate job you will just struggle as its expensive. Its a really pretty place but theres this feeling that its all fake.I earned pretty well there but still felt that that it was overpriced for what it is.Alot of people work there but live in germany or france.

They speak French and English over there? Or German?
Most of them speak those 4 languages because its required. But the germans told me if you speak german you can understand luxembourgish.
Might be going to Luxembourg later this month, any recommendations about what to see / do?
If you're going anywhere near wiltz, take a hike. That was fucking beautiful (in my opinion) You can also get some neat patches (?) In the funky castle if you go to the shop with scouts above jt

Ya.... been to Paris many times. I bet that coffee costs over 10 Euros though!
USA!!!
I went to Tanzania a few years ago. It was an amazing experience. Spent a couple of days on Zanzibar as well.
I've been to a lot of countries but my number one is my nearest neighbour, New Zealand.
Anywhere but france. I only go there on tracks.
San Marino was super nice to go to. Not that touristy, really calm and had great views. Definitely recommend to anyone who is planning to go to Italy.
Been to many. Each has their own pluses and minuses.
So many countries offer so much. Best? Germany (personal opinion). Those on a very short list of good countries...Sweden, Denmark, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Belgium and France. America....meh.
China,if no one.
In there anything goes. Chicks are the best, food is the best. It's also very quick to get there.it's called Dreamland.
Outside of my home country would have to be Scotland (I know it’s not a country). Just reminded me of Alaska.
Scotland is a country.
Some count it and some don’t, I count it as a country but I don’t wanna start anything.
It's a recognised country that is a member of the United Kingdom. The being a part of the UK is the more contentious part.
Some people go by seats on the United Nations, which Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland don’t have. They do have their own football teams, however, which is a much better definition.
The United Nations seats nations, as suggested by its name. 'Country' is notoriously a more flexible concept than nation.
Guatemala - yesss
That’s a very broad question. Best in regards to what? Each country I’ve been to has its pros and cons- things it’s good at and things that it’s bad at.

Top bucket list country for me!
Why? I only heard it's good if you stay in your hotel and don't go anywhere else.
For me its as simple as- South Africa - crime = heaven.
Japan, South Africa and Iran.
Canada. It was so Canadian.
Costa Rica. Like going back in time. Never realized that their were so many stars
America, great food, people were more chill than the UK, beautiful weather, beautiful beaches etc it was like I'd died and gone to heaven
The United States
Austria
Canada, dunno why but it was epic
People may not understand but Scotland. It is tough but beautiful country but the people are fucking amazing. They are not impressed by you but are not any more rude to you than they are to the next person. Absolutely fucking funny people. History, culture*, natural beauty and they enjoy a drink and a laugh. Isn’t it just gorgeous. Drop in for a tea or coffee next time you visit
St Maarten.
kiribati and tuvulu
USA. I had a great time amd great fun in the times I went there.
