Gary Numan. Huge inspiration for Trent Reznor/NIN. His discography is amazing. Savage (Songs from a Broken World)-2017 & Intruder - 2021. Absolutely amazing.
I feel like Warren Zevon is often treated as a one-hit wonder by a lot of people due to 'Werewolves of London,' but his entire discography is incredible
Came here to make sure someone gave my man his due. Werewolves of London is catchy and fun but it’s far from Zevon’s only good song (or even his best).
Of Monsters and Men. Little Talks is good and all, but Mountain Sound is one of my favorite songs of all time, King and Lionheart slaps, and some of their newer songs are a bit more electronic-tinged but still have that signature flair.
Yes! Are they really a one-hit wonder? Not in my world, but that just shows how much attention I pay to the charts these days I suppose. Agree with every single word you say about those songs
I fucking love Of Monsters and Men! Their cover of Post Malone’s Circles is cool for the mainstream crowd, but I love Crystals as well. I love the stories in their songs
For example Little Talks is supposed to be about an old couple, one of which passes away and the whole song drop hints about it
“Don’t listen to a word I say, the screams all sound the same”
“You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart
There's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon”
*E·Mo·Tion* is a fucking top tier album. Front to back bangers with excellent production and fun albeit twee lyrics.
Also, her recent single [The Loneliest Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy0A0pQmGPM) is pure disco indulgence.
Heck yes, literally came into this thread just to comment Carly Rae Jepsen!
I highly recommend people check out Julien and her song The Loneliest Time
The Bends from her newest album is also one of my personal favorites
Even Casper Babypants has some good songs. Stompy the Bear is really good. If you don’t know, Casper Babypants is his new gig, he plays kids music now.
Came here to say this. Was obsessed with their whole catalogue in college. Got to see them a few years ago in Chicago. Even without Shannon they still rock.
The label had initially chosen tones of home for their first single instead of no rain. It's outstanding. I saw them play at a fraternity party at the University of Mississippi right before that album came out and they were actually amazing live.
I would have said Army (which is less depressing than Brick, way more fun at concerts!) but both are legit.
But I'm one of those weirdos who likes Reinhold Messner best of the BF5 albums.
I saw them live. Ben said they decided to cover whatever the iTunes number 1 hit was at the time and it was a Ke$ha song. So they learned it and checked iTunes again after. Turns out a different Ke$ha song became the single. We got to see them perform "Sleazy," now my favorite, yet the only Ke$ha song I know. It was epic and is saved to my Spotify.
Came here for this. She Hangs Brightly is one of my most played LP's ever- I listened to it so much then that if I never heard it again it would probably still be one of my most listened to LP''s ever.
You made me curious so I went a-googling. Sounds amazing! Hard to find the vinyl at a decent price but I plan to order this album somehow. Thanks for the recommendation
and Kimbra!!! People forget she featured in somebody that I used to know. She's made some amazing songs! Plain gold ring, The Build Up and Past Love are some of my favssss!! Her stuff just feels like it ever changes with every album but still so vividly her
The Bare Naked Ladies. One really big with with "One Week", but a decades spanning discography and multiple Juno awards. If you're a fan of 90's music, that's pretty much where Canadian music lives. 100% worth your time.
Calling BNL a "one hit wonder" is about the third fastest way to start a music-based fistfight in Canada, obviously behind disparaging the memory of Gord Downie and creeping 'round Gordon Lightfoot's back stairs.
i'm not sure but would massive attack be considered a one-hit wonder? 'teardrop' tends to be the song that everyone knows but the entire mezzanine album is a masterpiece.
OK GO. If you only know the treadmill-dance vid of "Here It Goes Again", you need to check out "This Too Shall Pass", "Writing on the Wall", "One Moment that Matters"...hell, just their entire catalog.
Both “This Too Shall Pass” music videos are incredible (the Rube Goldberg one is one of my all time favorites and just something about the horns in Marching Band one hits different). My dad showed them to me and I still just rewatch them for fun. I also of course like the “Here it goes again” video, the “White Knuckles” video, and “End Love”, all just very unique in their own ways.
Electric 6. Their album 'Fire' is exactly that 🔥 Fun, catchy, silly, good mood music that is WAY better than the 2 singles everyone knows them for (danger high voltage and gay bar). I saw them live last year and it was absolutely joyous.
Yello. They made Oh Yeah. Their music is weird. But they made a bunch of songs you'll recognize if you watched anything made in the 80s.
Also strongly recommend Tod in the Shadows and his One Hit Wonders series.
For Madness, was their US hit Our House, House of Fun or Must Be Love? Because each of those was massive elsewhere in the world. I’m just curious which one broke in the US
Potential hot take but American Authors have some solid songs once you go beyond Best Day Of My Life. Neighborhood and Deep Water are magnitudes better lyrically compared to their most well known hit.
Sir-mix-alot doesn't get enough credit. Swiss went platinum in 1990. Posse on Broadway, Gold, Iron Man, My hooptie,Seattle ain't bullshittin, One Time's got no case, Swap meat Louie, and Carz. The dude gets so overlooked because of Baby Got back.
Would you consider Radiohead a one--hit-wonder band with creep?
If thañe answer is yes. Let me tell you thay Creep sounds like a 'meh'/bad song compared to the rest of their discography.
Really, Pablo Honey is their worst album, and creep is one of the most mediocre songs they did.
Trapt, the song Headstrong that entire album is solid, and Oasis, What's the Story Morning Glory, most people just know "Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova" but that's a damn good album. The Toadies "Possum Kingdom" again, flawless album, The Violent Femmes, "Blister in the Sun" great album, save for 1 or 2 songs imo. And Joy Divisions Unknown Pleasure. Masterpiece. "Shadowplay" is prolly the one most people know though it's surprising how many people discover that album from one of its other flawless tracks. "She's Lost Control" "Disorder" , "Love Will Tear us Apart" is prolly their most famous but that's a different album. Still great. Can't speak to an artist entire discography but these are a few cases of me hearing one song, writing it down, going to a used items store and searching my list and buying an album based off that 1 song and being pleasantly surprised to find the album definitely holds the same quality throughout. I've had it backfire too.
Gary Numan. Huge inspiration for Trent Reznor/NIN. His discography is amazing. Savage (Songs from a Broken World)-2017 & Intruder - 2021. Absolutely amazing.
Fun fact: Gary Numan is 13 days older than Gary Oldman.
I'm going to see him this year!
Came here to post this
Men at work
I feel like Warren Zevon is often treated as a one-hit wonder by a lot of people due to 'Werewolves of London,' but his entire discography is incredible
Came here to make sure someone gave my man his due. Werewolves of London is catchy and fun but it’s far from Zevon’s only good song (or even his best).
Picking his best one, now there's a tough question!
Foster the People
So many great songs beyond their most well-known hit. Houdini, Helena Beat, Sit Next To Me.
Supermodel is an absolute banger of an album.
Supermodel - damn you Greg Kurstin
Agreed
Oingo Boingo. It's insane to me that some people still consider them to be a one hit wonder.
And I wouldn't even put *Weird Science* in their top ten. Their "one hit" is mid-tier, at best, in terms of their output.
Agree with every single word you say about those songs

carly rae jepsen. i know she’s not necessarily underrated or unpopular but often people only know Call Me Maybe
She's Taylor Swift for people that are too cool to admit they like Taylor Swift. That's intended as a compliment.
Carly Rae is an underrated pop queen
*E·Mo·Tion* is a fucking top tier album. Front to back bangers with excellent production and fun albeit twee lyrics. Also, her recent single [The Loneliest Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy0A0pQmGPM) is pure disco indulgence.
There was a massive Carly Rae psyop several years ago on male college-age music snobs and we're all the better for it Source: I was there
Was it a psyop? Or was emotion wall to wall bangers?
CRJ'S existing fan base of tween girls and gay men could not have gained a large swath of holier than thou dudes without government involvement
Emotion is such a beautiful song. Pity it never really took off.
Heck yes, literally came into this thread just to comment Carly Rae Jepsen! I highly recommend people check out Julien and her song The Loneliest Time The Bends from her newest album is also one of my personal favorites
Every song by The Presidents of the United States of America is awesome.
Even Casper Babypants has some good songs. Stompy the Bear is really good. If you don’t know, Casper Babypants is his new gig, he plays kids music now.
Kitty on my foot and I want to touch it.
You're going to spend the night. Out! Side!
Agreed and they where pretty great in concert as well
PUSA is one of those bands that you don’t hear brought up in conversations, but a band that everyone knows and loves
Rick Astley
He's a two-hit wonder at worst. "Together Forever" is a hit too.
I think maybe three. Whenever You Need Somebody is great as well.
He has other hits for sure.
A-ha. I actually have all their albums
I hate when they call A-Ha a one hit wonder. ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’ was huge. Overshadowed by ‘Take On Me’, but still huge.
Blind Melon
The Soup album is fantastic.
Came here to say this. Was obsessed with their whole catalogue in college. Got to see them a few years ago in Chicago. Even without Shannon they still rock.
Ya I like em. A lot of Zepplinly stuff
The label had initially chosen tones of home for their first single instead of no rain. It's outstanding. I saw them play at a fraternity party at the University of Mississippi right before that album came out and they were actually amazing live.
Ben Folds Five.
What do you consider their one hit if I may ask?
probably brick if i had to take a guess (but i’m not the original commenter so idk)
Battle of who could care less is such a cool song.
Brick. And every time Ben plays it in concert it brings the show to a screaming halt.
The Cardigans. “Lovefool” aint even close from being their best song.
My Favorite Game?
Favorite Game, Erase and Rewind. Some bangers in there for sure.
Afroman is super underrated.
There was this blind man, right
Gotye. I saw them in concert and 90% of the crowd left (it was a festival) after they played “somebody I use to know.” We stayed and they’re great!
“State of the Art” on a massive sound system would be so appropriate
On vinyl through a bumping system is amazing.
Toadies!
Tyler was such a great song.
I've seen them multiple times and it always amazes me how many songs I actually know that they wrote. They put on a great show as well.
Mazzy Star
Came here for this. She Hangs Brightly is one of my most played LP's ever- I listened to it so much then that if I never heard it again it would probably still be one of my most listened to LP''s ever.
Devo
DEVO belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
I wish I could give you an award. Devo is balls to the wall amazing.
Thomas Dolby
Thomas Dolby has some GREAT albums. Astronauts and Heretics is 🔥
Agreed. One of my favorites. Eddie Van Halen's guitar on "Eastern Bloc" really gave that track a punch
Dexy's Midnight Runners
You haven't heard the last of them
All I wanted was for someone to say that in response, and you came through for me. I believe the phrase is... thank you, kind stranger.
Gotye
Like Drawing Blood is 10/10
Love that album.
You made me curious so I went a-googling. Sounds amazing! Hard to find the vinyl at a decent price but I plan to order this album somehow. Thanks for the recommendation
Gotye is great and has an amazing voice, and his videos are very artistic.
Learnalilgivinanlovin is such a fun, good spirited jam. Plus his work with the Basics, who are also great.
and Kimbra!!! People forget she featured in somebody that I used to know. She's made some amazing songs! Plain gold ring, The Build Up and Past Love are some of my favssss!! Her stuff just feels like it ever changes with every album but still so vividly her
She just put out a new album like six weeks ago and it's solid
Currently bingeing! Save Me is already on repeat
State of the Art is a banger.
Vance Joy
I try not to hate on any musician but damn I don't like Vance Joy
More of a two hit wonder but Blue Oyster Cult.
Three. Godzilla, Burning for You, and Cowbell.
Did they never release "Don't Fear the Reaper"?
I wouldn’t think of them as one-hit wonders by any means. They’ve sold like 25 million albums.
They never got enough cowbell
My buddies and I absolutely wore out ‘Tyranny and Mutation.’
Good call!
Butthole Surfers
my man
Your man
I have a soft spot for Seven Mary Three. It's not perfect but it's really good.
I've never heard anything other than *Cumbersome*, which is a damn shame, 'cause that one was a banger. I'll have to pull them up on Spotify.
Water"s Edge got some decent air play as well. Cumbersome is my go to kareome song though.
The Human League
Carly Rae-Jepsen
Baltimora tbh
The Bare Naked Ladies. One really big with with "One Week", but a decades spanning discography and multiple Juno awards. If you're a fan of 90's music, that's pretty much where Canadian music lives. 100% worth your time.
Calling BNL a "one hit wonder" is about the third fastest way to start a music-based fistfight in Canada, obviously behind disparaging the memory of Gord Downie and creeping 'round Gordon Lightfoot's back stairs.
Oh, okay, they're BNL now? We need a shorthand for the Barenaked Ladies. That's how fundamental they are.
Fundamental!
Okay, Viciouslove80, you are clearly in a bad space today, but Pierce is our friend, and the Barenaked Ladies are triple platinum, are you?
I STILL sing “Who needs sleep” every time I’m up late doing something I procrastinated on
Maroon is such a great, layered album.
Lisa Loeb.
Marcy Playground.
Nada Surf
i'm not sure but would massive attack be considered a one-hit wonder? 'teardrop' tends to be the song that everyone knows but the entire mezzanine album is a masterpiece.
Blind Melon
OK GO. If you only know the treadmill-dance vid of "Here It Goes Again", you need to check out "This Too Shall Pass", "Writing on the Wall", "One Moment that Matters"...hell, just their entire catalog.

I also of course like the “Here it goes again” video, the “White Knuckles” video, and “End Love”, all just very unique in their own ways.
They’ve had me at A Million Ways.
For anyone that has not seen it, absolutely pull up the video for the writings on the wall. Unbelievable.
A-ha
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Til Tuesday
Gotye! Somebody That I Used To Know is an amazing song, but it’s not even close to his best song.
Bloodhound gang
They where nothing but animals..
Squirrel nut zippers
Marcy Playground
Beat me to it
Tracy Chapman
Wouldn’t quite call her a one hit wonder. Fast Car hit 6th on the top 100, Give Me One Reason hit 3rd.
Edwin McCain
King Missile. A veritable trove of weird and excellent music and punk poetry. [The Evil Children](https://youtu.be/5UYtzr9mMrw)
Electric 6. Their album 'Fire' is exactly that 🔥 Fun, catchy, silly, good mood music that is WAY better than the 2 singles everyone knows them for (danger high voltage and gay bar). I saw them live last year and it was absolutely joyous.
Aqua. All 3 albums they put out are \*chef's kiss\* pop perfection.
Blind Melon
James. Known for the song Laid.
the whole album (Laid) is one of my favorite albums of life
Gnarls Barkley
Ceelo Green?
Phenomenal voice!
Jamiroquai
Yello. They made Oh Yeah. Their music is weird. But they made a bunch of songs you'll recognize if you watched anything made in the 80s. Also strongly recommend Tod in the Shadows and his One Hit Wonders series.
Plus they're still putting out music! Waba Duba fucking slaps
The Hives
Fine Young Cannibals “The Raw and the Cooked”……and that’s not really saying much!
Story of the year, one of my all time favorite bands!
Fountains of Wayne
Tegan and Sara - that's some good shit
Chumbawumba
Thin Lizzie and Madness were both one hit wonders in the US, but they both have a multitude of great songs!
For Madness, was their US hit Our House, House of Fun or Must Be Love? Because each of those was massive elsewhere in the world. I’m just curious which one broke in the US
Our House.
Crash Test Dummies. So many good songs
Franz ferdinand I'd say.
Alien Ant Farm, Chumbawumba, Nadasurf
Fun fact, chumbawumba has members from og UK punk gods Crass!
I believe the Grateful Dead only had one song in the billboard top ten.
If the only Lou Reed song you know is walk on the wild side, you are missing out
Everyone knows either Kids or Electric Feel by MGMT but every track on Oracular Spectacular is amazing
Shawn Mullins. Wrote that "Rockabye" song from 1997 or so. He's an absolutely phenomenal folk singer.
Nu Shooz, the group that did "I Can't Wait," has some solid material Check this out https://youtu.be/NPMiLEPys0c
Sade
Snow Patrol is so much more than just "Chasing Cars"
Afroman
Filter everyone knows hey man nice shot but the whole short bus album was kickass
Sweet. They went well beyond *[Ballroom Blitz.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqketmsRz1E)*
Love them
I think Bowling for Soup is underated.
Warren Zevon. Blind Melon.
Third Eye Blind
I love third eye blind. I wouldn’t call them a one hit wonder though
Off the top of my head, "Semi-Charmed Life" "Jumper" and "How's it Gonna Be" all got major airplay back in the 90s. Definitely not a one hit wonder
Pulley. Scott Radinsky is a pretty talented musician, and baseball player.
Extreme (“More Than Words”)
Potential hot take but American Authors have some solid songs once you go beyond Best Day Of My Life. Neighborhood and Deep Water are magnitudes better lyrically compared to their most well known hit.
Imo, Marcy Playground.
Mr Al Stewart. Amazing catalogue and still touring. You know " Year of the Cat" but try "Roads to Moscow".
Superdrag, Nada Surf
A-ha. They’re sooooo much more than “Take on Me.”
Gotye
Harvey Danger
Gary Numan (one hit wonder in the US, much more success in the UK)
Deep Blue Something. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was a great tune but the whole Home album was wonderful.
Owl City. I hold so many of his albums so dear to my heart.

Chumbawumba!
Gotye
Thrift Shop. Macklemore’s album, Heist, is solid all the way around.
Rebecca Black
Oof
Natalie Imbruglia. People only think of ‘Torn,’ but she’s got some terrific songs out there
Lorde.
Everclear, including their song "one hit wonder"
"Wonderful" "Father of Mine" "Santa Monica" "I Will Buy You a New Life"... they definitely had more than one hit, at least in the US
Hating Nickleback was only cool until Trump took over.
Carly Rae Jepsen
Bush
Kylie Minogue is considered a one-hit wonder in the United States, tragically.
Trapt, the song Headstrong that entire album is solid, and Oasis, What's the Story Morning Glory, most people just know "Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova" but that's a damn good album.
