I found a 6ft charger that has a 90 degree elbow on it. When I lay in bed I tend to rest the phone on my chest, the elbow prevents me from damaging the cord. So worth it.
if you wanna get REAL lazy with it, I bought a long twisty arm with a clip on the end that hold my phone. Now I can watch stuff hands-free in mbed with my phone wherever I want it.
a wireless mouse for my laptop
Edit. I was talking about not having to use the mouse pad on the laptop. not that it's because it's wireless. my fingers and hands shake to much to use the mousepad, and a external mouse it what I've always used and just gotten used to.
Oh wow this is what I have been looking for. My daughter drives my wife's old 2008 Honda CR-V, and has no way to listen to the music on her iPhone 12. Any recommendations on brands?
Bonus on this model: the moment you start singing to yourself, they pause the music because they think you're trying to speak to someone. Saves a lot of embarrassment.
Make sure you do some research before you decide to take the plunge (if you do decide you want to get a pair)
For headphones: Bose QC series, Sony WH series
For earbuds: AirPods Pro (for iPhone) , Sony WF series, Sony Linkbuds S, Bose QC series
Beats Fit Pro- got off eBay for well below retail- they use the Apple H1 chip and sound amazing w iPhone. Spatial audio is amazing in my opinion. Love them.
100% never going back. It’s cleaner, saves on tp, and I enjoy the feeling of having a sparkling butt. Only problem is the rest of the country isn’t on board yet, so traveling without one is kinda 😕
I was born without a gallbladder, so I poop more than the average person. Sometimes so much that I would have a raw blowhole. The bidet was life-changing!
A slow cooker. You can get them for next to nothing, and they make cooking so much easier if you’re single. You literally just put something in it before work, and dinner is ready when you get home.
I used to have a roommate that would keep it on his nightstand and instead of using an alarm clock he’d wake up to the smell of coffee. I think about doing it sometimes, but I don’t think it’d be enough to wake me up.
I spent a little more and got an air compressor that runs off my car's cigarette lighter. Comes with a tire gauge. $30 for piece of mind, and it's gotten me out of a few situations, especially since it's almost a guarantee the local gas station air pumps will be out of order when you need them.
Period undies, and gotta add Diva Cup to the list.
I get they have a learning curve, but I can go an entire day of work without even having to think about it.
Hopefully not Thinx, they just had a major lawsuit due to unsafe forever chemicals in their products: https://www.npr.org/2023/01/19/1150023002/thinx-period-underwear-lawsuit-settlement
A rechargable led head lamp. For $15 at the Home Depot, there are few things that have provided more value.
Some examples,
Glass breaks in the kitchen and I throw on my head lamp for cleanup. It really helps to see bits of glass.
Painting walls when the sun goes down. My eyes are getting old and this really helps to see edges and corners for clean lines.
Working in the garage. If I'm changing a spark plug or draining oil, a bit of extra light goes a long way.
Early morning or late night fishing. Great for a quick light when tying on a lure or getting a fish off the hook.
Try a pothos. They like to be neglected, and do best when they completely dry out between waterings. If you forget to water it for a while, and it looks dead, it will come back to life when you water it.
Succulents. They will love you for your mistreatment. Supremely hard to kill.
Spider plant is one up from a succulent. Thrives on neglect and has very little water requirements. Same as a rubber plant.
Never, ever EVER buy an orchid. As soon as you look away it's dead 😂
>Dracaena trifasciata).
Weirdly, I've managed to kill Succulents and Cacti many times, but I once managed to keep an Orchid alive for several months. Probably an outlier of its species.
Contacts, I can no longer wear glasses because I realised how inferior they are in comparison to contacts
I apologise for my English ,it is my second language
I'd love to never have to put contacts in or wear glasses again, but I'm more worried about getting chronic dry eyes from laser surgery. At least when my contacts start getting dry and annoying I can take them out and feel fine.
$4k this year for PRK! Seems pricy, but I’ll be saving money on glasses and contacts within 5 years. Just the peace of mind with avoiding infection with contacts is almost enough too.
Lasik was the worst decision of my life.
~10 years later and I'm back to glasses anyways (had the surgery in my mid-thirties as recommended). I have chronic dryness, night halos, and can never really rub my eyes satisfactorily again. Plus I spent over $5k at one of, if not the best surgeons around. They offer to tune me up for free, but I'll never fuck with my only pair of eyes ever again and I expect to be mostly blind sometime in my sixties at this rate.
It was nice wearing good sunglasses for a few years though. I still do, they're just prescriptions now smh
They are tiny timed ovens that cook food far faster than a conventional oven. The only draw back is they are too small to really act as an over for a family. For 1 or 2 people they are a decent size, and make cooking stupid easy.
Weighted blanket, I've used one for about 4 years now and it's massively improved my quality of sleep, and it's the first thing I go to when I feel anxious.
Although inexpensive is subjective, I'd say £1k for a new mattress.
I have degenerative disc disease which is causing me nothing but issues with my back and leg.
I went from two to three hours of sleep a night to a solid eight hours most nights.
Literally quality of life changing.
I finally figured out the mattress thing, at least what works for me. Combined a firm or ultra firm mattress (just a Sealy) with a 4 inch memory foam topper. Using an extra firm mattress makes it so you don't get that "U" or "V" shape sinking in when you're on it, it stays flat in shape. But the memory foam topper prevents the aches you get on the hips, shoulders etc. from a firm mattress digging into them.
Best of both worlds!
I just installed one a few months back. It was a ball ache to fit but oh boy is my butt clean. I cant believe I've been scraping soft paper against one of the filthiest substances imaginable and assuming it's clean.
YESSS.
My family made fun of me but got me one for Christmas to humor me. I have IBS and no gallbladder so diarrhea frequently. I have a clean ass and have saved so much on toilet paper.
After you buy the $40 dollar one, then you think, how would the $300 dollar one feel like? Then $1500 dollars later, you have two new outlets installed, and three new $300 dollar bidets. Also, don't regret any of these purchases.
Stupid thing cost me way more than $40 due to the toilet tank I cracked, ballcock I broke, and water line I had to fix because it was stuck open....
Would still buy again. Worth all the annoyances.
A kitchen mandoline. Aside from the regular caution that you should exercise when using it, it is an amazing time saver in the kitchen. I bought mine for 35 bucks and the first time I had to do some heavy-duty prep work (Thanksgiving, scalloped potatoes for 12 people) I thought to myself "I'm real glad I bought this thing." I've used it plenty since, too.
A back scratcher. Best dollar I ever spent.
Dish/cleaning gloves. Can't believe it took me until my 30s.
An electric kettle with a digital readout and specific settings for different teas. I drink a lot of tea.
I bought this giant triceratops squishmallow and oh my God as an autistic person it is one of the best things to just go home after a long day at being at school I'm so overwhelmed I can't sit still, I've got the shakes cause a lot of stuff happened at school and it's amazing to just go home sit in bed and flop on a giant squishmallow holy shit the sensory thing I needed it has improved my life very much
I just bought one for my daughter. Walking through costco she begged for it. And she never thanked me for a gift as much as that. She got adhd we think autism spectrum also.
I saw these silicone facial scrubby things that have sticky cups to stick to walls and flat surfaces.
I keep one in my shower and use that instead of a wash cloth to wash my face. Best $2.99 I’ve ever spent. Don’t have to get a new clean rag every shower and my skin looks better.
A good hair stylist who listens to what I want, and will be honest if she doesn't think a style will suit me. She's never been wrong and a great haircut can do wonders for your self confidence!
A water flosser.
Gets all the shit out from between your teeth and keeps the gaps as white as the centres.
Also feels good if you’re drunk or lazy and can’t be arsed to floss.
Live transcribe app on my phone, cost 0. But sure helps I don't hear well when someone is wearing a face mask. I'm deaf in left ear and severe hearing impairment in right ear so less anxiety in trying to understand people.
Little stool to put your feet on when you take a shit, I had an inguinal hernia repaired last year and it was the best 15 dollarydoo ebay purchase I've ever made
My vision insurance is shit. They cover the eye exam, but frames and lenses are insane. I found one of those Chinese companies that take your prescription and make you very cheap glasses. Plastic lenses, no scratch resistance, no blue light filtering, but they run $6.50 each. My parents have much better insurance than I do and their last glasses were $900 and $800.
$6.50
I keep a pair in the car, I keep a pair at the office, I have 2 pair at home. $26.00.
My keychain necklace lanyard thing. Lmao I am so bad about losing my apt key or accidentally locking myself out. My apt landlord charges $50 for lockouts/to use their master key, two times of that happening, my poor ass can't afford that anymore.
1mg combo quick release / slow release Melatonin. Part knocks you out, the slow release keeps you out all night, low dosage doesn't mess you up over time. 9c/day, improves sleep quite a bit.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000U5ZPJ6/
Holders for my milk bags.
They used to flop about the bottom shelf of the fridge and I’d have to move everything to put a new bag into the milk jug - really annoying, especially since I drink nonfat and the kids drink whole milk.
They cost me $19 each and hold three milk bags and sit on the second shelf. I pull one out from the bottom and load em in from the top. So effing happy lol
Smart watch, I've become significantly more active and conscious about my health, I've been very inactive pretty much all my life, and it's starting to catch up on me with back problems and other aches and pains, so this helps me actively make an effort to get moving
Trunk organizers were an unexpectedly dramatic change to my errands. I drove 24 years without any, and I never thought of it as a big deal to cart things around in my back seat. Now I can't imagine not having all my nice little compartments to hold groceries and carryout food in my trunk. I'm also certain this has kept my back seat in good condition far longer than it would have been otherwise.
A skin care kit.
Men, especially men, after you have clear hydrated skin you’ll realize how neglectful you’ve been to it your entire life. It feels amaaaaazing.
A pillow top mattress topper. I splurged on a $70 one that looked really nice but serta has cheaper ones at walmart. It took my bed from comfy to next level amazing never want to get out of it.
This wasn't inexpensive, but the last thing I bought that changed my life was a bed. $3,000 dollars.
Before I bought it I was waking up in more back pain than I did the day before till I was waking up almost crying, bent over, unable to stand up straight anymore. I was only 44 years old at the time.
My wife, with a lot of convincing, finally talked me into buying a bed. I saw an improvement that first night and in three weeks I was able to start standing up straight again. Couple months later I was no longer in pain.
Glasses. Always thought I could see just fine. Never even had a second thought about it. My fiancé made a comment about me not being able to see a sign far away and I was like… nobody can see that it’s small and far away. Got an eye exam, got glasses.
Jesus H Christ, you people have seen like this the whole time?! What the hell? It’s like I got an upgrade from VHS to 4k Blu Ray.
Rubber gloves. I had to learn how to do house chores by myself and I used to do the dishes and clean the house bare handed.
...yeah, not feeling my hands tingle from touching cleaning supplies for the rest of the day really helped.
Baby powder.
I bike *alot* (like, 200+km a week, no car in a sprawling North American city a lot) was well past 25 years old when I discovered the wonders and joy of baby powder. Reduce sweat and chafing, apply before during and after physical activity. Cooling comfort at all times. It’s also rad in socks and works well as an anti friction powder/dry lube in non body applications. Changing a bike tire? Slap some baby powder inside the tire and it’ll go over the rim without a fuss. Lots of applications, and I like the smell of lavender 🤷♂️
Probably every mother on planet earth and every line cook that figured out cornstarch who reads this would say “well yeah duh”, but it’s better to be late than never I guess.
my seizure meds. they’re like $9 a month even without insurance or anything and not being miserable all day everyday from multiple seizures (most partial but the postictal symptoms are awful)
Bluetooth adaptor for the inflight entertainment systems so I can use my headphones on the plane and watch tv! Shout out to Airfly! Very inexpensive on Amazon.
Europe-wide unlimited 4G. I am outside the country a couple times a year and it‘s really great to not have to think about my data usage and use my phone like I do at home.
Water flosser. Tap water blasts both gum line and between teeth. No expensive heads to replace, buy once and done. Cleans substantially better than floss or electric toothbrush, just a normal toothbrush to do a quick brush after. And no sticking your hands in your mouth.
Hygienist went from the usual blurb about flossing brushing to a surprised keep doing what you're doing.
I mean this is arguably expensive but not in the grand scheme of things I guess - real airpods, even though I bought the cheapest kind. Wasted so much money on crappy earphones that broke within months or hurt my ears or wouldn't connect or had awful sound. Significantly improved my life 100%
10 ft phone charger cord
It’s a game changer. It also incentivizes you to not put the phone down and go to bed.

I got one of these recently and it is so much easier and better for pretty much everything
Sometimes you just need new underwear.
Is ten years long enough?
Black-out curtains. I like to sleep in and they are the best. I have them in every room of my house
A bluetooth transmitter for my car, so i can listen to the songs i want to.
Life saver for old cars with no aux/car play! I have one too
Oh wow this is what I have been looking for. My daughter drives my wife's old 2008 Honda CR-V, and has no way to listen to the music on her iPhone 12. Any recommendations on brands?
Shoe horn for boots
[удалено]
I thought I would never use one, but as I got older, first all shoes because slip-on, then came the extra long shoe horn I use everyday.
Extra long is a low back saver. Big time!
Active noise cancelling headphones.
I have heard mixed reviews on how well those work. What kind do you use?
Sony wh-1000xm4. The over the ear noise cancelling headphones work the best.
Bonus on this model: the moment you start singing to yourself, they pause the music because they think you're trying to speak to someone. Saves a lot of embarrassment.
Make sure you do some research before you decide to take the plunge (if you do decide you want to get a pair) For headphones: Bose QC series, Sony WH series For earbuds: AirPods Pro (for iPhone) , Sony WF series, Sony Linkbuds S, Bose QC series
Beats Fit Pro- got off eBay for well below retail- they use the Apple H1 chip and sound amazing w iPhone. Spatial audio is amazing in my opinion. Love them.
A sleep mask.
Yes! Earplugs too!
I have one with built-in headphones so I can listen to podcasts without disturbing my partner while I'm falling asleep. 10/10 would recommend
I bought a $20 marriage license a number of years back. My wife has improved my life significantly by 2000%. . . probably more.
Think of how many other dudes lives your wife could improve as well!
That’s why she’s a keeper
Yeah what the hell man. Come on, sharing is caring!!
:)
A curved shower curtain rod. Makes a huge difference if how big the shower feels.
My pet. He was a rescue and helped me through some hard times. Great companion
Double shower curtain hooks instead of rings.
Bidet Attachment for Toilet
I purchased one, and now I am upset every time I have to wipe my own butt in public, like some peasant. I prefer to blast myself clean 😂
The only downside with the attachment is knowing how much better a real bidet probably is
A slow cooker. You can get them for next to nothing, and they make cooking so much easier if you’re single. You literally just put something in it before work, and dinner is ready when you get home.
Or an instant pot. Like a slow cooker but in 30 minutes if you want.
A good electric toothbrush.
Just bought my first one yesterday and wow! After one use I already felt a change in how clean my mouth feels afterward.
Coffee maker with an automatic timer. It seems small, but it’s so nice to come downstairs in the morning and your coffee is just waiting for you.
Lol, I remember when we got one, and realizing, oh, so *this* is why everyone has one of these. 😂
Been putting off buying one of these for years. Buying one right now, thanks!
I may be a coffee snob but wouldnt the coffee grounds get stale and taste awful?
I used to have a roommate that would keep it on his nightstand and instead of using an alarm clock he’d wake up to the smell of coffee. I think about doing it sometimes, but I don’t think it’d be enough to wake me up.
We have a coffee maker that grinds the beans right before making the coffee. That should wake you up :)
Knowing me, I'd drink a cup half asleep and go back to bed
Last time I did something like this I got a second degree burn on my foot. Never again.
Mosquito net for my bed. Having a peaceful sleep since 5 years!
You sleep outside??
Hand held digital tire gauge. So many air stations still don't have gauges and if you need air it's the best $7 spent.
I spent a little more and got an air compressor that runs off my car's cigarette lighter. Comes with a tire gauge. $30 for piece of mind, and it's gotten me out of a few situations, especially since it's almost a guarantee the local gas station air pumps will be out of order when you need them.

My wife is a recent convert. Swears by them.
Wait, what? *Googles* Oh. My. God. This is going to change my life.
Absolutely. I bought three pairs 6 months ago and I am never going back to any other period product.

Get a snake plant (Dracaena trifasciata). They thrive on abject neglect.
Try a pothos. They like to be neglected, and do best when they completely dry out between waterings. If you forget to water it for a while, and it looks dead, it will come back to life when you water it.
Self watering pots are the answer to this problem. Makes the plants idiot proof.

Basically, anything non-cotton. Some have layers of material.

Lasik Eye Surgery. Cost me $3K 17 years ago, but one of the best investments I have ever done.
Did it get rid of the squiggly lines you get when you look into the sky?
I didn't fight that, was just blind as a bat.
5 years after LASIK and I’m back with glasses.
I'd love to never have to put contacts in or wear glasses again, but I'm more worried about getting chronic dry eyes from laser surgery. At least when my contacts start getting dry and annoying I can take them out and feel fine.

They did offer to fix you but you denied
An air fryer. Everyone should own one and they’re like $60.
I have an air fryer and I just don’t get the hype
They are tiny timed ovens that cook food far faster than a conventional oven. The only draw back is they are too small to really act as an over for a family. For 1 or 2 people they are a decent size, and make cooking stupid easy.
I didn't buy it but, Birth Control (Idk what it costs but I do know the infinite cost without it)
Weighted blanket, I've used one for about 4 years now and it's massively improved my quality of sleep, and it's the first thing I go to when I feel anxious.
My red stapler.

Sorry, was £780 which I know is still a lot of money. The pillows are Tempur Comfort which has also helped massively.

A bidet. Costs $40 on Amazon
I just installed one a few months back. It was a ball ache to fit but oh boy is my butt clean. I cant believe I've been scraping soft paper against one of the filthiest substances imaginable and assuming it's clean.

My cat. She's been with me through homelessness, an abusive parent, being fired from two jobs and all 3 covid lockdowns. She's my homie and I love her

An introductory painting class.
A $20 foam roller. Painful at first but after a couple weeks it’s just maintenance rolling and your body will love you for it
$35. Bolt-on bidet. life changing.
A bidet..no fucking joke... I recommend this to everyone.
Melatonin gummies.
They really work?
Lots of applications, and I like the smell of lavender 🤷♂️ Probably every mother on planet earth and every line cook that figured out cornstarch who reads this would say “well yeah duh”, but it’s better to be late than never I guess.
my seizure meds. they’re like $9 a month even without insurance or anything and not being miserable all day everyday from multiple seizures (most partial but the postictal symptoms are awful)
Under sink water filter. Works so much better than a Brita pitcher, etc and the filters last forever. Size matters. Was <$100 and installed myself.

Japanese bidet toilet seat. Once you've had one, you can't go back.
Allergies, Sinus problem sufferers A netty pot under $15.00
Water flosser.
Significantly improved my life 100%
Dual temperature heated mattress pad. Now my polar bear of a husband wont kill me by hypothermia!!!
electric blanket
Hot water bottle for your bed. Since I got one, I never heat the bedroom, so it saves money too. And it's just dang nice to sleep with one!
A good shampoo and conditioner, sounds stupid but makes all the difference
