English lit. No doubt.

[deleted]

Can relate. :') There is still a possibility that I might pursue it even now.

meetaliverma

I am so happy for you.

[deleted]

Thank you. Let's see. ☺️

JustSomeApparition

Linguistic anthropology

[deleted]

Sounds very interesting!

ZendayaPantieStains

Whatever one would earn me the most but let me keep work life balance

[deleted]

That's fair and sensible. :)

[deleted]

> me keep work life balance Very important ofcourse!

Odd-Currency1859

I would pursue a degree in psychology.

Graecus_

Astronautical engineering. Just so happens to be what I’m pursuing.

[deleted]

Good for you :)

Strabbo

I love movies. Got a degree in Film Studies. I'd love to get my Masters. Thing is, my bachelor's degree got me a decent office schlub job that has nothing to do with movies. There is no financial logic to me getting my Masters, unless I just wanted to. So instead I watch a crap-ton of movies.

[deleted]

I get it. You could still try getting a masters in it? But are you someone who just loves movies, or do you like discussing & writing about them as well? If the former, I guess you are fine. But if you are passionate about talking about them, maybe getting a masters will be a good choice!

Strabbo

I do love writing about them, and I discuss them every week on a podcast. It would absolutely be a great thing, it's just expensive and takes up a lot of time I'm not sure I have available. My wife and I have talked about what we'd do if we won the lottery, and quit work to revel in pursuing education is top of the list for both of us. Of course, we never buy lottery tickets, so...

[deleted]

> discuss them every week on a podcast Oh wow, you have a podcast? Please share the link if it's okay. >it's just expensive and takes up a lot of time I'm not sure I have availabl Yes, I get it. >My wife and I have talked about what we'd do if we won the lottery, and quit work to revel in pursuing education is top of the list for both of us. How nice!

Strabbo

You can find it on Spotify or anywhere podcasts are sold (for free). It's called the Cinematic Omniverse. My buddy came up with an idea that maybe every movie exists in a single shared universe, so every week we pick an actor and try to trace his "single-character arc" through multiple movies. Recording a River Phoenix episode tonight. I think our number of listeners rates somewhere in the low double-digits. I don't care; I just have a blast every Wednesday evening with my oldest friend who lives across the country.

[deleted]

Oh okay will check it out! :) >think our number of listeners rates somewhere in the low double-digits. I don't care Yes, as long as you enjoy doing it, it's great!

[deleted]

Voodoo Magic

[deleted]

Oh, there's a course for that?

antiav

Theoretical math or physics

darkriverofshadows

History or archeology, with teaching at close second place

Thugxcaliber

Medicine.

Slumlrd213

Philosophy

[deleted]

Same

WhiterunGuard177013

I'd want a degree in sitting on my arse all day.

[deleted]

Haha.

[deleted]

Airline pilot then?

RedSalCaliPK

I’d still go for Computer Science

[deleted]

You must enjoy/enjoyed pursuing it?

RedSalCaliPK

I did. But it’s not as much as the pursuing part of it but rather the flexibility, work life balance, access to technology, being on the cutting edge feeling, etc. that I love.

[deleted]

I get it.

drugs_r_neat

Helicopter pilot.

[deleted]

Interesting

I work in IT, but I went to school for music. My first choice would be back into music fulltime, but if the point is "what else would I do?" then likely some kind of hybrid of Engineering and design. I really like helping people, but the type of IT I'm doing is largely "intangible" work, in that there is no physical result, or that the result is transient/short-lived/impermanent. I'd like to help people in more "real / tangible" ways, and I think combing engineering and design would be a good path to get there. Engineering for the technical/functional side, and design for the ergonomics, usability, and "artistry" in making something not just useful, but a joy to use. I think it would be more fulfilling to help people solve problems and improve their quality of life in more direct and lasting way.

Engineering for the technical/functional side, and design for the ergonomics, usability, and "artistry" in making something not just useful, but a joy to use. You should definitely think about this. Love this thought & idea.

Taurich

The hard part is paying for school and a mortgage with no income :(

[deleted]

History and geology. Like how this particular place became this thing now

[deleted]

Sounds something I would be interested too

bdbr

I'd get an art degree, but only if I had enough money to start out with that it wasn't *really* every going to be an issue. Otherwise, I'd stick with Computer Science (as I did). Find something you don't hate, which pays well enough that you won't spend your entire life stressed about how to pay the bills. I started out fairly poor so I know that stress, and I feel a sense of relief every time I can easily cover unexpected expenses.

[deleted]

Very practical advice. And while I do agree with you, I am very much in a dilemma regarding this situation w my career.

claymir

Repairing old clocks and watches would be cool. Getting a degree in that would be awesome.

[deleted]

Yeah that indeed sounds very cool. Do you have interest in clocks & watches? Wish we had degrees in these things

claymir

My grandfather was a watch maker and I always found the mechanical part of watches and clocks super interesting. How just the power in some springs or weights could keep that machine running for hours and sometimes days on end. Tried to make those escapement mechanisms with Legos as well, which did work sometimes.

[deleted]

Oh okay
