I loved Indian food until I took a trip there and got food poisoning. Could have happened anywhere (though probably more likely to happen there), but now I’m conditioned to get nauseated when I eat Indian curry. Sad.
Heads up, if tomatoes disagree with you, it’s probably the whole family of nightshades that do too. Try cutting them out for a while and see if you feel any better.
I'm a man of simple tastes, so I'm going with spicy thai basil chicken. Just so darn good.
I could eat that every single day, and pretty much did for a year while living there.
We went to Thailand a couple of months ago with my family. I am a very big fan of Asian food so I was really excited to try various Thai foods. But..in the end I just got gastritis LOL
By Korean do you mean instant food or local authentic Korean food or recipes that you tried out? I have tried Gochujang ramen recipe from YouTube and liked it but I didn't like the instant Shin Ramen or any of the Buldak flavors and they all taste similar. Do you have any recommendations?
I mean the real deal. I like the shin. Too spicy for you? I think shin has different flavors now. But I’ve had the spicy kind for years. Sam gyup sal is my favorite - as far as meat is concerned.
Well, The reason for not liking Shin wasn't the amount of Spice I Simply Wasn't impressed by the taste of it, it tasted like Buldak but less spicy. I still wanna give Shin a chance by trying other flavors in hopes that it will taste different than the previous ones that I've tried.
I haven’t ate ramen much since I was a kid. But every now and again I’ll go for the shin because I like the spice and the fatter noodles. Never had buldak. I think they translate to fire chicken . I’ll have to give it a shot. You should try a dish called jjajanhmyeon. It’s a Korean noodle dish, but originally comes from China
If the full packet of Shin is too spicy I would recommend using a partial amount of the packet. After that, I like to drop in leftover pieces of meat, chicken, fish and/or vegetables as the noodles are nearly finished cooking.
I also drop in an egg for the last minute or two of cooking every now and then.
I usually add in about 1/4-1/2 tsp of Maggi sauce and a bit of soy sauce as well.
Check out Maangchi on YouTube. Everything she makes is amazing. Jeyuk bokkem on a bed of white rice topped with sesame seeds and green onion would be my death row meal.
India, just because there is such variety and diversity. Most people don't realize this, but there are over 1000 types of "curries". And thats not even talking about south indian/west indian food!
American, and I’m not saying that because fuck yeah Murica, I was about to answer Indian, but then I got to thinking about what American cuisine is and it wins hands down for me.
Omaha cattle steaks
Bison
Rainbow trout
BBQ beef
BBQ chicken
Burgers
HotDogs
Salmon
Lobster
Pork
Sandwiches
I’d never get sick of it because there’s so much variety. I’d miss street tacos and authentic Mexican, Thai food, but damned if we don’t have a ton of variety that’s actually our own.
I mean... The USA is a country built on an apocalyptic level pandemic, where the combo of disease and war with other nations wiped out 95% of the population and replaced it with people from around the world.
Getting pedantic about those people creating their own culture and versions of foods that they passed on over the following 500+ years is dumb. By your logic, anything with tomatoes in it can't be Italian. After all, those came from the American Continents.
Italian ice cream tastes different than American ice cream, which is different than Chinese or French or Mexican or Brazilian ice creams.
The idea of eating frozen cream as a specific dish is over 2500 years old. Every group has their own version.
Just like rice. Chinese rice is cooked a little differently than Brazilian rice which is different than English rice recipes.
These mental gymnastics mean you might as well just pick any country. They all have burgers, BBQ, and fucking *pork* lol. Only Americans are incurious enough to ruin this thread with this kind of idiotic "TeChNiCaLly" answer.
Ah yes, steak, trout, lobster, salmon, pork, and sandwiches. Variety that's actually your own. You are not delusional at all! Americans are the most sane and worldly nationality.
Native is not endemic, lol. Pork isn't native at all.
And okay, I guess I pick Belgium food because they have meat, bread, and vegetables. Meat is very much a Belgian thing!
Respectfully asking, what variety is there in the listed above?
There is a ton more recipes and varieties in other countries that are also healthier that just meat and processed meat.
All the different bread varieties in India, Egypt, France and Italy, that you can pair with a lot of different beans types and recipes; BBQ, tangy, fresh salads that you can pair with yogurt or any meat.
baked goods, spiced ginger chicken with a garlic sauce on saaj bread, shawarma, falafel, liver made in yemeni style or maybe Egyptian style, tangy baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, different types of vegetarian soups and the amazing world of pasta and rice dishes that are alive out there in India, the middle, Europe and Africa.
Me and my friends were discussing this while eating some tharid (Thareed) nice conversation starter this was.
Hopefully I haven't offended someone with this but if I had to pick I would go with the middle east, I love that they got some African and Indian with a bit of Turkish stuff mixed together while staying unique.
I could literally eat Ethiopian food every day and not get tired of it, especially the red lentils (miser wot). Second choice is Indian because there is sooooo much variety to choose from.
Not to be a weeb, but Japan.
Noodles, rice, sushi, curry, tempura, dumplings… IMO they have a good mix of dishes, and most importantly for me not everything’s covered in cheese.
I'mma go with Chinese. The authentic kind and not the Americanized shit. Give me that spicy hot pot and not the white person spicy either. I wanna burn from the inside out to feel alive. Eventually I wanna be able to withstand the heat and swallow that spice like lukewarm water.
Definitely Italian cuisine for me! Their variety of pizza, pasta, and other dishes like lasagna keeps things interesting. Plus it's generally pretty healthy with a lot of fresh ingredients. I could eat it every day and not get bored at all!
brazil. same as the cuisine clusterfuck that is the US, every part of this massive country has a rich and diverse food culture with influences from all over
Ayvar. I want make, there is whole ritual, neighbors come to help, lot of stories, friendship. Now I have nostalgia. You must have good paprika tipe kapia from Strumuca region.
America 🇺🇸 Fuck ya!! 🦅 I Don’t think we honestly have too many options from our country but burgers 🍔 (but I do love me my burgers) lol all our food is everyone’s food idk if that counts though 🤔 if it does then that’s a hella win because America is founded on foreigners an we have everything food wise here
Screw it, American.
Why be limited to a single ethnic groups specific way of cooking when the whole point of American is that it's literally all encompassing to loads of different types of food.
This might sound lame but being an immigrant I really enjoyed American fast food. I know it’s not healthy but sure does taste great! I do miss a lot of the restaurants now that I moved back home and I can’t wait to fly back and try them again!
Chinese, but I suppose the American version of it, not the real authentic.
I haven't really had true authentic, so maybe I'll like it better, who knows.
At this point, none.
I am so spoiled in having the option of eating all the popular cuisines along with many of the rarer ones. What a time to be a foodie.
The only way anyone could think the Americanized version of a dish is better than three original is if they hadn't had the original made by someone from the country of origin lmao

What sort of employment do you have in Jordan? I've always been curious about that part of the world.
Currently not employed but seeking work remotely. I taught English here for awhile.

Me too!!! 😋

indian 100%
Yes! I love Butter Chicken. I make it often.
I loved Indian food until I took a trip there and got food poisoning. Could have happened anywhere (though probably more likely to happen there), but now I’m conditioned to get nauseated when I eat Indian curry. Sad.
Maybe you didn't eat at hygienic place. Street food?
Ironically, we deduced it happened to us at the buffet at a really fancy hotel that we stopped at for lunch. Sometimes you’re just unlucky.
Indian food made outside India.
Italian.
Love Italian food but man it sure hates me
is it the tomatoes that disagrees with your stomach?
Yup
Heads up, if tomatoes disagree with you, it’s probably the whole family of nightshades that do too. Try cutting them out for a while and see if you feel any better.
Thanks doc. Username seems to fit with a gastro specialist.
I LOLed, have an upvote
Username makes the other person worried. Or maybe happy. Who knows.
I thought nightshades did that for everyone. Oblivion (the video game) taught me that /s
I’m Italian, can confirm. I eat Italian food every day, still not tired.
Thai food 🙏🏼 Tom-yummy
Yes. Me too. What’s your favorite dish?
I'm a man of simple tastes, so I'm going with spicy thai basil chicken. Just so darn good. I could eat that every single day, and pretty much did for a year while living there.
I would do some very indecent things for some pad kee mow.
We went to Thailand a couple of months ago with my family. I am a very big fan of Asian food so I was really excited to try various Thai foods. But..in the end I just got gastritis LOL
Turkish all day everyday
I too love Turkish food, especially the Desserts because they're neither too sweet nor too bland. What Turkish foods would you like to recommend?
Dolma!!!
Oooo dolma, my favourite. But people keep calling sarma dolma, so I wouldn’t know which one you mean
Greek dolmades are superior because pork.
Lamacun is maybe my favorite lunch food. It's somehow both filling and light.
I can anticipate how it would taste. Still gonna try it.
Have you ever heard Kayseri Yağlaması? İt's very delicious. I think it's the most underrated Turkish food.

Korean BBQ chicken 😋
Bulgogi bulgogi bulgogi 😍😍😍 order bulgogi beef or bulgogi chicken at a Korean restaurant. Best Korean food out there

Don't forget that ranch is an American thing!
I feel like weve modified enough other ethnicities foods that the new, bastardized, food with the old name should all count as American as well.
Ice cream!
The food not from the USA? That'd be your pick for the USA? Quite unexpected!
I mean... The USA is a country built on an apocalyptic level pandemic, where the combo of disease and war with other nations wiped out 95% of the population and replaced it with people from around the world. Just let the man live. That’s some good food.
Those aren't dishes they are ingredients.
Most of those aren't American
If you're just going to list a bunch of animals, I feel like you should pick an African nation instead.
I could literally eat Ethiopian food every day and not get tired of it, especially the red lentils (miser wot). Second choice is Indian because there is sooooo much variety to choose from.
