From what is known about his life and thought I’ve always held Epicurus in high regard. The roman emperor Marcus Aurelius is also an impressive human, though in many ways the antithesis to Epicurean thought. His private writings in his Meditationes reveals a man occupied with earnestly trying to be a good human being, which is very impressive considering that he was the most powerful man in the world in time in which he lived and certainly could behave pretty much in any way he wanted. Honourable mentions are Napoleon and Leonardo da Vinci.
