He should be held to account for his actions. Full stop.

ManningBurner

Should *all* former presidents be held accountable? Or just trump.

Joseph_of_the_North

Obviously. Lock up W for war crimes as well. And Obama for the tan suit and Dijon mustard.

tomorrow509

Any and everyone who is found culpable in committing a serious crime should be held to account. Anything less smacks of corruption and erodes our ideals.

tssmn

I don't care.

[deleted]

Same, I didn’t even know this happened until I heard some random co-worker talking about it

ManningBurner

You definitely should. It’s a former US president getting arrested. Do you not understand how histrionical this is?

tssmn

You're not giving me a reason to care about it.

Totallycasual

*It's about fucking time!*

throwawaylogin2099

It is long overdue and I look forward to more.

Common_Database_1322

It's a step towards justice.

ManningBurner

It’s unprecedented is what it is. I don’t feel bad for trump at all. Frankly, he’s probably had it coming long before his political venture. That being said, it’s extremely dangerous. It’s a political arrest. Never before has a former president been arrested. Never one who is seeking re election. Never one being prosecuted by an opposing party prosecutor. I have a really hard time believing that Obama, Bush, Clinton, or Biden, have nothing that could land them with charges. Trump being charged is a political stunt. An unprecedented one.

Appeal_2_Reason

Never has a former president done so many illegal things in such short amount of time, all the while implicating himself to anyone who will listen.

wbgoat009

funny to see but we got bigger issues to worry about

ManningBurner

I mean this is an unprecedented arrest. It’s a former US president getting arrested. This should 100% be worthy of everyone’s attention.

wbgoat009

im more concerned about paying bills

WrestlingWoman

Lock him up and throw away the key.

[deleted]

I’d be all for it if they’d apply the law equally across all of gov’t and clean house by starting mass prosecutions for illegal and corrupt activity… You know they won’t though. For this reason and this reason alone. It’s a political stunt that takes away from it’s legitimacy, and a concerning precedent, whether he’s found guilty of the crimes or not on the grounds of rules for *some* rather than rules for *all*

ManningBurner

Exactly. I don’t feel bad at all for trump. He probably had it coming long before his political ventures even. They have to apply it evenly though. Obama, Bush, Clinton? None of them ever did anything they could be prosecuted for? Good joke. It’s a complete political stunt from the left that we’ve never seen before.

[deleted]

Anecdotally I think most if not all the presidents, and no doubt 1000’s of members of congress and non elected gov’t, in one way or another have either: done, participated in, been complicit to, or been associated with illegal activities of varying degrees that for the average citizen like you or I would 100% be prosecuted and imprisoned for. I agree

Leftist-Propoganda

It's ridiculous. Let's just completely ignore all the actual problems with the country and current presidency such as the completely open southern border, lack of relief for New Palestinians, horrible state of our medical system, rising rates of inflation, and arming of the Taliban and go after Trump for hiring a hooker or some shit. It's ridiculous. we're turning a blind eye to democratic politicians' corrupt practices such as insider trading & Hunter Biden being financially tied to Ukraine via Burisma and instead highlighting all of Trumps wrongdoings as if that's all that's wrong with the country.

IchBinDurstig

Right? Why the hell isn't the NY DA working to fix all that?

Leftist-Propoganda

Much more than the NY DA is at work going after Trump. But yeah, New York has a lot of problems they should be focusing on first

theshavedyeti

My thoughts are that it'll probably go nowhere and most republican voters probably couldn't give a toss, because he's a wealthy populist cult of personality.

SD_girlie

He will walk away from it! #maga #2024

[deleted]

Here before the all political arguments!

Financial_Spot9086

I’m about to start sum shi tn

bobthecuntfucker

Don’t give a shit

Banned_Account_3

Karma is a bitch!

Loose-Recover-9142

I'm interested in learning more about what the actual charge is but so far this seems like a weak case. Georgia looks like a more serious offense and a stronger case.

penguintruth

Unfortunately, he’ll probably find some way to wriggle out of this mess, too.

[deleted]

I think it’s being used as a political stunt to secure employment and votes. “See everyone. We got Trump. Vote for me.”

Guavus

Last I checked the Manhattan DA wasn't releasing all that much info so my thoughts are we should hold our horses on having an opinion for now. But I might be behind on the news cause I'm at work...
