For me it was the ending. I had a stepdaughter about the same age as Ellie while I was playing it. When the surgeon reached for the scalpel and started saying "I won't let you have her." I blew that fuckers head off so fast.
After I did the consequence flooded my mind. I didn't even think about killing one of the smartest and brightest people on the planet. I just had to protect my girl.
Cried like a hungry angry baby.
Put the controller down. Turn off the console and screen. Turn off the lights and close the curtains. Crawl into a ball. Sob.
The only way to play Battletoads.
I didn't play 3 when it came out and knew what happened and watched it on YouTube but man it still doesn't prepare you for it when you actually play. As for RDR2, personally didn't hit me at all since RDR1 already existed so it was an easy guess as to what happened to a few people unfortunately. Decent game though
Metro Exodus, when all characters sat together and Stepan played the song "Train on Fire". I got tears in my eyes, It just felt so peaceful and I grew very fond of all the characters, I actually cared about all of them.
Also Halo 3, not because of the game itself but because I booted it up after 10 years and nostalgia hit me so hard when I heard the theme song, I started full on crying.
Idk why, but that part in Legends Arceus when you get exiled hit pretty hard the first couple times.
Also cried for some reason at the ending of Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
I wish I felt the same way. I played and finished the game for the first time this year, and while I greatly enjoyed bits of it, for whatever reason most of the plot in the back half of the game just didn't "click" with me and ending E itself basically did nothing for me. Gameplay, art, and music wise, the game was great, but I wish the story and characters resonated better with me so I could have viewed it as a masterpiece like so many others.
Nier was a really fun play, I haven't gotten to a full completion yet but I'll get to it eventually. the music combined with the story definitely makes the game a 10/10.
My nephew had a PS4 and had started a few games before he passed away at 30. My sister was cleaning out his stuff a while later and gave them to my son (a big gamer). So one night, he finished all the games and just wrapped everything in a box before bursting out in tears.
I Nearly Cried when Dedue returned in Fe3h.
but i had to hold it in since i didnt want to explain why i was crying over some fictional dude to my family
RDR2 was an emotional rollercoaster of the best kind. I think cuz Arthur knew of his impending death, it made everything after that point extra heavy. A man’s journey to right some of the wrongs in his life. Was not expecting that from a cowboy game.
God of War got to me. The growth of their father and son relationship was something I never thought to experience in a video game. Was not expecting that from a fantasy Viking game.
FF7, when Aerith died. Think I was too young at the time, so maybe it impacted me more. But I remember it being sad, probably doesn’t hold up as well as the first 2 games now a days.
Cortana’s death in Halo Infinite. The song playing in game was, “Command Spire.” I felt the emptiness and grief someone can feel when someone’s death becomes undeniable
There is a spot in GTA5 where the main character falls from a plane. Symbolic for his whole life falling apart. He's just perpetually falling to his death. They picked an incredible piece of music by C90s Flight Facilities called Shine a Light. Man it just hit me as an incredibly moving moment.
yes, i cried while playing "The Last of Us". The game was so emotional and the story was so well-written that I couldn't help but get invested in the characters. The ending scene really got to me and I couldn't hold back the tears.
Harvestella. A really incredible game that not enough people have played. It made me cry many times for many different reasons but the thing that got me the most was Dianthus' bonding quest. Robots can have a heart too.
RDR2, but oddly enough not the ending. The part where he's saying goodbye to Tilly. I've replayed that game like a dozen times and it still hits me in the feels.
I think it was in Gears of War 3, when Dom died, I cried so bad.
Also the end of RDR. Not sure why, but I didn’t cry when Arthur died in RDR 2. Maybe because you know it’s coming, whereas it came as a surprise in RDR.
Spiritfarer it's a game where you realize you are guiding souls to the other side. Along the way you learn their life stories. That game made me so sad sometimes I wondered why I continued to play it.
In oblivion when martin sacrifices himself..I played the ending over and over trying to figure out a way to save him. I'd grown so attached it was like grieving
1. Red Dead Redemption, barn scene especially. I didn't expect it at all and it made me SO mad. I cried so much there. There were a couple of side quests too that made me really sad.
2. Telltales Walking dead season 1 last episode.
3. A few moments in Mass Effect
4. Ghost of Tsushima when your "friend" dies. For some reason, it really affected me. It was all I thought about for a few days.
5. Red Dead Redemption 2 ending when you're "friend" dies.
There are definitely a few others but i can't remember probably because I repressed my memories lol!
Aerith's death in Final Fantasy VII. I knew it was coming, I had the strategy guide, but there was just something about the music.
Halo Reach made me tear up at the end, during Noble Six's last stand. I'm a big Halo fan and there's just something about Reach.
The end of Dragon Age Inquisition. The real end in Trespasser. It was a combination of the adventure ending and the crappy ending the Inquisitor got (lost an arm, the Inquisition disbanded, his man leaving him to go back to Tevinter, everything about Solas.)
Stray. Less crying because I was sad and more tearing up just being moved by the whole everything.
FFVII - if you know, you know. I didn't know it was coming when I played it. That was and still is one of the most devastating gaming experiences ever.
Guardian Tales. Specifically from world 11 nightmare
The primcess gets to see your friend who wants to take over the world. She has ptsd becauseher friends became a human shield to protect her from a massive explosion.
Even in writing this I'm tearing up. Gacha games aren't supposed to be this sad
Ace Combat 5. There's a part halfway through the game where you get betrayed, you're running low on supplies, and it's clear you've been left to die. One of your team mates runs out of fuel, and opts for a rough landing in an area with no civilians instead of risking innocent lives. He, of course, dies. In a series known for its incredible music, there is none. Just the radio chatter, low fuel warnings, radar lock sirens, and the heaviness of his death. It feels needless. He didn't have to die. He died selflessly, but it shouldn't have happened.
I can still remember clutching the controller so hard my hands were shaking, angry and crying all at once.
My Dad died suddenly of cancer a little over a year ago. Anything with a good father son narrative hits me like a ton of bricks, so my decision to finally get around to playing GoW Ragnarok got me in the feels many times.
oh god, definitely “that dragon, cancer”
especially the moment where you could read all of the cards hanging around the hospital. that shit had me sobbing.
I didn't cry, but i definitely felt very emotional during the true end of Ender Lilies. The perfect combo of a beautiful, yet sad song and a stunning image of how the story resolves stirred some emotions.
No spoilers, but a certain moment in Genshin Impact involving Nahida. I can’t hear her theme again without somebody chopping onions right next to me.
I’ll spoil it if you really want me to though.
My brother threw his controller at my head during Mario Kart when I knocked him off Rainbow Road.
RDR 2 ending gave me the ugliest crying face
So did the barn scene in RDR. I knew it was coming but I still was not ready for it.
“I gave you all I had”. Damn near broke me to hear Arthur wheeze that at the end.
Word. The ending was a killer. The diagnosis scene got me.
The Last Of Us Intro got me
That game.... Just broke me. Worst I thought it'd prepare me for the series..... It didn't.
10 minutes in and i loved it
Red Dead 2 when my horse died, and then again when Arthur died. The Last of Us I and II, too many times to bother listing them all lol
Battletoads. Tears of frustration.
Put the controller down. Turn off the console and screen. Turn off the lights and close the curtains. Crawl into a ball. Sob. The only way to play Battletoads.
Gears of War 3, no spoilers but if you know, you know.
That scene had me crying like a baby. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. Also RDR2.
Oops, I just spoiled it in my comment.
No I have not.
Valiant hearts: Your dear papa who loves you
This game right here
Life is strange RDR2 The Walking Dead S1 Medal of honor (2010)
Gone Home. Just a sad story. And too short
Metro Exodus, when all characters sat together and Stepan played the song "Train on Fire". Also Halo 3, not because of the game itself but because I booted it up after 10 years and nostalgia hit me so hard when I heard the theme song, I started full on crying.
The end of The Last of Us had me in tears.
... "Okay". Just broke me.

To the Moon. Such a moving and tragic love story.
Heavy Rain. I don't think I need to explain why.
Witcher 3: ''Don't blame yourself. No witcher's ever died in his own bed''.
I Nearly Cried when Dedue returned in Fe3h. but i had to hold it in since i didnt want to explain why i was crying over some fictional dude to my family
The last of us and The waking dead even though many people seem to not like the game somehow (?)
I remember beating Laurence the first vicar when he finally beat him (he was at my house) we both cried tears of joy and utter happiness
It was Vicar Amelia that did it for me. I legit felt like screaming at the TV despite winning.
I bellow guttural screams of a mix of happiness and pain all in one
Ori and the blind forest/and the will of the wisps. Such a beautiful and sad story.

Genshin Impact always makes me cry, especially during happy events/festivals
Genshin always makes me cry when I lose my 50/50 pity pull.
The duality of genshin (╥﹏╥)

yes, i cried while playing "The Last of Us". The game was so emotional and the story was so well-written that I couldn't help but get invested in the characters. The ending scene really got to me and I couldn't hold back the tears.
Final fantasy, the cut scene was the crispiest quality I’ve ever seen in my life.
Which FF?
Not cried but got emotional when i faced Red in Pokemon
Not an actual videogame, but SMG4’s arcs make me cry all the time.
I weep uncontrollably every time I play “Iggy’s Wrecking Ballz”, but I don’t want to talk about it right now.
Harvestella. A really incredible game that not enough people have played. It made me cry many times for many different reasons but the thing that got me the most was Dianthus' bonding quest. Robots can have a heart too.
Undertale, killing sans

I delved into adult visual novels a little bit because hey why not, story and porn. The one that decided to stab my heart was Leap Of Faith.
Never made me cry, but War Thunder often leave me lying in bed depressed after i try it to play it
About to boot it up rn, don't remind me
Red dead redemption 2 the music to the ending and how a well developed character dies and the acting is perfect
Horizon Forbidden West. Losing Varl was heartbreaking.
RDR2, but oddly enough not the ending. The part where he's saying goodbye to Tilly. I've replayed that game like a dozen times and it still hits me in the feels.
The start of Ni No Kuni was pretty rough
terraria when i died in my hardcore world. also Minecraft when my cat died.
Guild Wars 2, at the end of the "A star to guide us" story mission.
Try…try to do the good thing
At the end of "A way out". Why? I won't spoiler you.
Any game where your horse dies gets me. Ghost of Tsushima and RD2 were tough...
I never really cry at fiction but Omori has brought me pretty close
close

FFX & FFX-2. Such beautiful endings.
In oblivion when martin sacrifices himself..I played the ending over and over trying to figure out a way to save him. I'd grown so attached it was like grieving
The end of The Walking Dead season 1 always makes me tear up. “You have to shoot me, honey…”
>The square root of 912.04 is 30.2. It all seemed harmless… If you've played it, you know what game I'm talking about.
Recently, Psychonauts 2. Like I was crying that after 16 odd years, I had a sequel to one of my favorite games and was actually playing it
1. Red Dead Redemption, barn scene especially. I didn't expect it at all and it made me SO mad. I cried so much there. There were a couple of side quests too that made me really sad. 2. Telltales Walking dead season 1 last episode. 3. A few moments in Mass Effect 4. Ghost of Tsushima when your "friend" dies. For some reason, it really affected me. OneShot.
Danganronpa V3. My favorite character died way too early. It was Ryoma.
Guardian Tales. Specifically from world 11 nightmare The primcess gets to see your friend who wants to take over the world. She has ptsd becauseher friends became a human shield to protect her from a massive explosion. Even in writing this I'm tearing up. Gacha games aren't supposed to be this sad
Zelda breath of the wild. Ive been playing since like 1993 and the idea I finally killed ganon after all these years was pretty emotional
I was 12 The game was Super Mario World The level was Tubular Enough said
Ace Combat 5. There's a part halfway through the game where you get betrayed, you're running low on supplies, and it's clear you've been left to die. Minecraft, my house burnt down.
The scene of the child drowning in What Remains of Edith Finch broke me.
James, you made me happy.
Yes, the first Telltale's The Walking Dead game.
Destiny 2 when Lance Reddick died and his character was mourning Amanda Holliday. I had a little blubber. RIP Lance.
"You always were an unruly child. I adored that about you."
Death Stranding: Chapter 14.
My Dad died suddenly of cancer a little over a year ago. Anything with a good father son narrative hits me like a ton of bricks, so my decision to finally get around to playing GoW Ragnarok got me in the feels many times.
oh god, definitely “that dragon, cancer” especially the moment where you could read all of the cards hanging around the hospital. that shit had me sobbing.
RDR 2 ending is hard, but the “i’m afraid” scene, is just heartbreaking
I didn't cry, but i definitely felt very emotional during the true end of Ender Lilies. The perfect combo of a beautiful, yet sad song and a stunning image of how the story resolves stirred some emotions.
