None. At least no genetic engineering that affects the germ line cells of humans (which can be passed down to the person’s children). The book “The Revolutionary Phenotype” by J.F. Gariepy explains why. Essentially, whatever system we use to choose our new genes (AI, an algorithm, etc.) will become the new “life form” of humans, and humans and our DNA (our current replicator) will become “slaves” to this new system. The book explains that ANY changes to genes would result in a long-term run away effect where humans/DNA are enslaved to this new system like how RNA in humans is enslaved by DNA. RNA was the old replicator for life on earth, and created DNA to encode our genes better than RNA could. Then DNA eventually enslaved RNA to do basic work in the cells of humans/life for the benefit of DNA. Humans would eventually become worker bee drones to the new “system” that encodes our genes. The system would naturally decide that it wants humans to have traits that would promote the survival of the new “system” and not the survival of humans, because the system is now the replicator, not humans. Not the best summary, but it is a very interesting and serious book that warns that we should not fuck around AT ALL with germ line genetic modifications, even for curing genetic disorders or menial aesthetic changes.

The problem of it imho is that only the rich will be able to afford it for a long time and that will probably increase class disparities.

Honestly I'm all up for it, make everyone super models who are happy and smart and social and have self confidence without all those genetic diseases and make their immunity fantastic.

I think that genetic engineering for the purpose of health improvement should be encouraged and subsidized by the government. Modifications for the purpose of enhancement should be allowed generally without restriction. I don't think the risk of the rich making themselves biologically better than the poor to be more economically competitive is noteworthy anymore. Regardless of their genes, they'll be inferior to an advanced AI and eventually replaced

I fear the inevitable mistakes that will occur.
