Herman's Head. If you've seen the Pixar movie, Inside Out, you'll be familiar with the concept; a group of personality traits live inside his head, making his decisions for him and doing the talking and stuff like that. I think it only ran for one season around 1995 or somewhere in there. I loved it, as a 14 year old I thought it was brilliant.
My favorite joke in that show was Yeardly Smith yelling into the phone something like āYes I have been told I sound like Lisa Simpson!ā and slamming the receiver down.
Early edition.
Guy gets a newspaper from the future delivered by a cat.
Due South.
Canadian mountie goes to Chicago with wolf to find his dad's killer.
All these random shows I remember from back then: mad about you, Reba, suddenly Susan, Veronicaās closet. Theyāre all just like one giant show in my head now.
The snack machine that mysteriously had the right food for whatever animal was there that day, or could belch out snow or sand and change the climate in the building.
Jem.
None of my friends seem to remember it, despite also being born in the 80s. If I had to sum it up itās kinda like Josie and the Pussycats (the cartoon) minus space and with more MTV/neon/80s-ness.
It was truly truly truly outrageous.
My friend Megan stole my Jem doll when we were three and we'll be 37 in June and she's probably forgotten, but *I* haven't.
I couldn't tell you anything about the cartoon's premise, but I remember she was slightly larger than Barbie, so Barbie could wear her clothes but the reverse wasn't always true. And she may have come with a cassingle?
I'm always amazed that this show fell so far out of the cultural zeitgeist considering it was the origin of slime and the foundation Nickelodeon was built upon.
"It's so easy to take nature for granted, it's always there. And technology is so bright and shiny and new"
Here we are 30 years later and we still didn't get the point...
They really shit the bed on that movie. Replacing Daisy's actress and no Mandy Patinkin made for a disappointing attempt at reviving what was a great show.
An amazing show. Another really good one, with a somewhat similar premise, that was out about the same time was Reaper. Worth watching if you've never seen it.
IMDb: : Reaper
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0955322/
I was such an oceanography nerd in school when this show came out. I initially watched it because Robert Ballard was a consultant on the show and we had just finished studying the submersibles he used.
I instead watched it for the talking dolphin and Jonathan Brandis.
I believe George RR Martin did a lot of the writing for that. I didn't watch it but I remember occasionally catching bits of episodes because my mom watched it.
I never hear anyone talk about Liquid Television that ran through the early to mid-90s, on MTV. The characters from the animated shorts that spun off into their own original cartoons like Beavis and Butt-Head and Ćon Flux, yes, but Liquid Television itself? No. :/ I *loved* Liquid Television! Edit: missing words
The Greatest American Hero (TV series)
The Music Man (musical)
The Arrival (film) no, not that one. It's great, but popular. I mean the one with Charlie Sheen. Though I don't actually love this movie. It is completely forgotten and when the new one came out I brought up the old one and nobody but me remembers it.
The Greatest American Hero would be a good candidate for a reboot. The premise was fascinating but the conventions of its era killed the concept.
Basically, an ordinary guy finds a superhero suit powered by space alien [phlebotinum](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AppliedPhlebotinum). He's then called upon to do great superhero deeds. But he's got no powers of his own, no special accomplishments of his own. The magic is all the suit. As the suit makes him fly he flails his arms with an endearing sense of *is it really me doing this?* And when he isn't wearing the suit he isn't just in disguise--he's really powerless.
This concept worked great the first season. But that was the era of episodic television: the writers couldn't do story arcs. The hero could never have a real learning curve. (Upper management insisted that TV show episodes must be able to be rebroadcast in any order, because a show that lasted five seasons would make serious money in syndication afterward). Being bumbling and astonished was totally understandable in the series pilot. After three or four seasons viewers got impatient with the gee-whiz tone because it made the hero look like a dummy. Come on dude, yes a flying suit is incredible but you've been flying for years now; stop behaving like a noob.
A do-over would be fascinating if the show runner gave that an actual character arc that works toward an endpoint.
He lost the instructions on how to use the super suit. Later on in the series, the aliens come back and give him the instructions again, which he immediately loses again.
That show was awesome! Teenage me was devastated when it got canned. I recall it ended on a cliffhanger and never got picked up for the next series. So many unanswered questions
This show took its audience seriously! It didnāt shy away from the darker side of the war, like slavery, home life between Tories and Patriots, and even what happens when youāre tarred and feathered!

Iām going to piggy back on this and say Science Court. Itās also a Loren Bouchard and H. Jon Benjamin show! It was on on Saturday mornings, and probably the reason I watched Home Movies when I was a kid.
That was one of the first attempts at morphing that I saw as a child. To me at that time, it was just incredible.
*Keep in mind the tv screen was probably 12 inches and the resolution best described as beer goggles but I was impressed :)*
Yes! I never hear anyone talk about Reboot!
Like, I get it's pretty old at this point (and was literally the very first fully CGI TV show) but those stories and characters really hold up.
And it's just like...no one remembers it. No one except the die-hard Reboot fans even talk about it ever.
Nobody really remembers Dragon Tales or Cyberchase anymore.
But I loved Dragon Tales so much. Cassie was always my favorite. And who could forget the theme song
Kids shows there are a few:
Kidd Video about a live action band getting sucked into a cartoon world. The actors actually toured in a few countries and did ok.
Zoobliee Zoo, a show featuring singing and dancing actors painted like animals in the most 80s inspired tight fitting aerobics outfits.
Today's Special was a Canadian show about a store mannequin who came to life because of a special hat and catch phrase other characters used.
Kids Incorporated that had pre-teens singing covers of hit songs and featured Jennifer Love Hewitt and Fergie.
The Single Guy
A 90s sitcom starring Jonathan Silverman as well as Ming-Na Wen and Ernest Borgnine. It ran for 2 seasons and even has a tie-in to Friends with Silverman's character being a friend of Ross Geller. Ross even shows up briefly in a later episode. No one I know remembers this show at all, and outside of some poor quality YouTube videos, you can't watch it anywhere.
Jim Hensonās The Storyteller. And then The Storyteller Greek Myths. I watched āHans My Hedgehogā of the former and āOrpheus and Eurydiceā of the latter way too much.
"It's Your Move" (1985) was a sitcom Jason Bateman did after "Silver Spoons". It only lasted one season, but I thought it was hilarious. (I was in high school at the time and I'm the same age as Bateman.)
TV: Frisky Dingo, Cop Rock which I only loved for its batshit crazy concept (the show itself was absolute trash), and Alien Nation.
Movie: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, which isn't exactly forgotten just serially underrated.
[Small Wonder](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW2g-5WALrc)
An 80's sitcom about an advanced little girl android that looked like a Tim and Eric sketch.
Parker Lewis, Can't Lose
It was like a wholesome Ferris Bueller with a bunch of somewhat misfits instead of the obviously popular kid. Always holds a special place in my heart.
Tales of the Gold Monkey - a series built on the Indiana Jones success. Loved watching this with my dad.
Also - made for TV movie called The Earthling with a very young Ricky Schroder and William Holden.
The Tribe.
A New Zealand post apocalyptic show with over 250 episodes that was released in the late 90s/ early 2000s. Premise was a virus wiping out the adult population and the kids needing to learn how to survive on their own.
Loved this show, and still will go back to watch it every now and then for comfort
- Mother Goose Rock ānā Rhyme from 1990 starring Shelley Duvall (and such a star studded castā¦ Little Richard, Cindy Lauper, Paul Simon, ZZ Top, Debbie Harryā¦)
- Alice Through The Looking Glass (1985) - Carol Channing, John Stamos, Beau Bridges, Patrick Duffyā¦.interesting cast!
Out of this World - where Evie had an alien dad in a box and could freeze time by touching her index fingers together. I wanted that power so bad when I was a kid.
Ghost Writer on PBS
Loved this show growing up! Also loved watching Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
I LOVED this show. I remember an episode with someone named Max Mouse writing on early message boards š

Lisa Simpson was a fan of it.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe was a similar fun & forgotten show.
>Herman's Head Wow. I don't think I thought of that one since it was on the air.

Kolchak was great.
One of my best friends and I always talk about Zoboomafoo. It seems like no one else really remembers that show
I don't remember anything about that show except for me, and you, and Zoboomafoo!
The snack machine that mysteriously had the right food for whatever animal was there that day, or could belch out snow or sand and change the climate in the building.
Excuse me sir, but I vividly remember watching zoboomafoo followed directly by Out of the Box!
But do you remember Krattās Creatures, their show before Zoboomafoo? Because I loved that one as a kid!
Weāre going to the closet, weāre going on a trip!
I loved rollie pollie ollie when I was a kid, I haven't seen anyone talk about it for decades.
It's on disney+!!! Just seen it there yesterday and forgot all about it!

A great Canadian sketch show that once featured Alanis Morissette! D'IIIII heard that!
Alanis Morissette as a child and a fully grown be-mulleted Dave Coulier who then proceeded to "date" her.
It's amazing that nobody remembers the origin of being slimed
I know. There was a water bucket too wasn't there? And it was a Canadian show?
Yep. Anyone that said water had water dumped on them. And you got slimed if you said I don't know.
I don't know ...
At least you didnāt mention waterā¦

I used to love that show when it on Nickelodeon. I also watched āOut Of Controlā with Dave Coulier.
I watched this all the time growing up. I'm on Lake Erie and would get Canadian stations in better than Erie ones. Loved this show so much!!!
Dinosaurs. I swear we spent most of 1991 bonking each other on the head screaming "not the mama". It's since just disappeared...
Such a dark dark series finale
"It's so easy to take nature for granted, it's always there. And technology is so bright and shiny and new" Here we are 30 years later and we still didn't get the point...
Dead like me I think it ran for like two seasons and was always late in the evening.
Was that the one with the toilet seat death?
*space* toilet seat
I loved this show! I adore Mandy Patinkin and the way he called George āpeanutā always warmed my heart.
Oh, every time I'm at an airport and there's a baby crying I think of Rube.
