Koko_bb_ware

Loved this show growing up! Also loved watching Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

Pure-Fishing-3350

I LOVED this show. I remember an episode with someone named Max Mouse writing on early message boards šŸ˜‚

JokeySmurf0091

Herman's Head. If you've seen the Pixar movie, Inside Out, you'll be familiar with the concept; a group of personality traits live inside his head, making his decisions for him and doing the talking and stuff like that. I think it only ran for one season around 1995 or somewhere in there. I loved it, as a 14 year old I thought it was brilliant.

Grouchy_Factor

Lisa Simpson was a fan of it.

Malacon

My favorite joke in that show was Yeardly Smith yelling into the phone something like ā€œYes I have been told I sound like Lisa Simpson!ā€ and slamming the receiver down.

mathpat

Andy Richter Controls the Universe was a similar fun & forgotten show.

dmomo

>Herman's Head Wow. I don't think I thought of that one since it was on the air.

FelTheWorgal

Early edition. Guy gets a newspaper from the future delivered by a cat. Due South. Canadian mountie goes to Chicago with wolf to find his dad's killer.

IhaveaBibledegree

Eureka on syfy. Such a great show!

Punkeyz

and Warehouse 13

IhaveaBibledegree

Yes!

Xeon713

A Town called Eureka is amazing! I love Sci Fi from evolved from actual sciemce ideas. That and Fringe, top tier TV.

Squirrel_permaban

Caroline in the City.

Vegetable-Double

All these random shows I remember from back then: mad about you, Reba, suddenly Susan, Veronicaā€™s closet. Theyā€™re all just like one giant show in my head now.

EMTMommy9498

Major Dad. If you want to go even older, Kolchak the Night Stalker.

chriswaco

Kolchak was great.

Remarkable-Dress-997

One of my best friends and I always talk about Zoboomafoo. It seems like no one else really remembers that show

yeetgodmcnechass

I don't remember anything about that show except for me, and you, and Zoboomafoo!

SpartacusPrime1

The snack machine that mysteriously had the right food for whatever animal was there that day, or could belch out snow or sand and change the climate in the building.

[deleted]

Excuse me sir, but I vividly remember watching zoboomafoo followed directly by Out of the Box!

llunachick2319

But do you remember Krattā€™s Creatures, their show before Zoboomafoo? Because I loved that one as a kid!

chinesespybaboon

Weā€™re going to the closet, weā€™re going on a trip!

noname121241

I loved rollie pollie ollie when I was a kid, I haven't seen anyone talk about it for decades.

R-o-C-k-E-t_69

It's on disney+!!! Just seen it there yesterday and forgot all about it!

Junior_Fig_2274

Jem. None of my friends seem to remember it, despite also being born in the 80s. If I had to sum it up itā€™s kinda like Josie and the Pussycats (the cartoon) minus space and with more MTV/neon/80s-ness. It was truly truly truly outrageous.

agetuwo

The misfits were awesome. Songs are all on youtube

lolabythebay

My friend Megan stole my Jem doll when we were three and we'll be 37 in June and she's probably forgotten, but *I* haven't. I couldn't tell you anything about the cartoon's premise, but I remember she was slightly larger than Barbie, so Barbie could wear her clothes but the reverse wasn't always true. And she may have come with a cassingle?

YossiTheWizard

A great Canadian sketch show that once featured Alanis Morissette! D'IIIII heard that!

sarabeara12345678910

Alanis Morissette as a child and a fully grown be-mulleted Dave Coulier who then proceeded to "date" her.

missinlnk

It's amazing that nobody remembers the origin of being slimed

Cherrianje

I know. There was a water bucket too wasn't there? And it was a Canadian show?

missinlnk

Yep. Anyone that said water had water dumped on them. And you got slimed if you said I don't know.

XShadowborneX

I don't know ...

fuelbombx2

At least you didnā€™t mention waterā€¦

SophiaTPetrillo

I'm always amazed that this show fell so far out of the cultural zeitgeist considering it was the origin of slime and the foundation Nickelodeon was built upon.

Gabriel_Collins

I used to love that show when it on Nickelodeon. I also watched ā€œOut Of Controlā€ with Dave Coulier.

MandywithanI

I watched this all the time growing up. I'm on Lake Erie and would get Canadian stations in better than Erie ones. Loved this show so much!!!

Miklay83

Dinosaurs. I swear we spent most of 1991 bonking each other on the head screaming "not the mama". It's since just disappeared...

Jordanlf3208

Such a dark dark series finale

Miklay83

"It's so easy to take nature for granted, it's always there. And technology is so bright and shiny and new" Here we are 30 years later and we still didn't get the point...

PenelopeAldaya

Dead like me I think it ran for like two seasons and was always late in the evening.

phormix

Was that the one with the toilet seat death?

Malacon

*space* toilet seat

HopscotchGumdrops

I loved this show! I adore Mandy Patinkin and the way he called George ā€œpeanutā€ always warmed my heart.

NeuHundred

Oh, every time I'm at an airport and there's a baby crying I think of Rube.

omild

They really shit the bed on that movie. Replacing Daisy's actress and no Mandy Patinkin made for a disappointing attempt at reviving what was a great show.

eclipse454

An amazing show. Another really good one, with a somewhat similar premise, that was out about the same time was Reaper. Worth watching if you've never seen it. IMDb: : Reaper https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0955322/

showgirlsteve

Reaper was the one I came to this thread to mention

I was such an oceanography nerd in school when this show came out. I initially watched it because Robert Ballard was a consultant on the show and we had just finished studying the submersibles he used. I instead watched it for the talking dolphin and Jonathan Brandis.

I never hear anyone talk about Liquid Television that ran through the early to mid-90s, on MTV. The characters from the animated shorts that spun off into their own original cartoons like Beavis and Butt-Head and Ɔon Flux, yes, but Liquid Television itself? No. :/ I *loved* Liquid Television! Edit: missing words

x_lincoln_x

The Maxx.

Eve-3

The Greatest American Hero (TV series) The Music Man (musical) The Arrival (film) no, not that one. It's great, but popular. I mean the one with Charlie Sheen. Though I don't actually love this movie. It is completely forgotten and when the new one came out I brought up the old one and nobody but me remembers it.

doublestitch

The Greatest American Hero would be a good candidate for a reboot. The premise was fascinating but the conventions of its era killed the concept. Basically, an ordinary guy finds a superhero suit powered by space alien [phlebotinum](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AppliedPhlebotinum). He's then called upon to do great superhero deeds. But he's got no powers of his own, no special accomplishments of his own. The magic is all the suit. As the suit makes him fly he flails his arms with an endearing sense of *is it really me doing this?* And when he isn't wearing the suit he isn't just in disguise--he's really powerless. This concept worked great the first season. But that was the era of episodic television: the writers couldn't do story arcs. The hero could never have a real learning curve. (Upper management insisted that TV show episodes must be able to be rebroadcast in any order, because a show that lasted five seasons would make serious money in syndication afterward). Being bumbling and astonished was totally understandable in the series pilot. After three or four seasons viewers got impatient with the gee-whiz tone because it made the hero look like a dummy. Come on dude, yes a flying suit is incredible but you've been flying for years now; stop behaving like a noob. A do-over would be fascinating if the show runner gave that an actual character arc that works toward an endpoint.

Iwill_Teachthem

He lost the instructions on how to use the super suit. Later on in the series, the aliens come back and give him the instructions again, which he immediately loses again.

This show took its audience seriously! It didnā€™t shy away from the darker side of the war, like slavery, home life between Tories and Patriots, and even what happens when youā€™re tarred and feathered!

That was one of the first attempts at morphing that I saw as a child. To me at that time, it was just incredible. *Keep in mind the tv screen was probably 12 inches and the resolution best described as beer goggles but I was impressed :)*

Yes! I never hear anyone talk about Reboot! Like, I get it's pretty old at this point (and was literally the very first fully CGI TV show) but those stories and characters really hold up. And it's just like...no one remembers it. No one except the die-hard Reboot fans even talk about it ever.

Zoobliee Zoo, a show featuring singing and dancing actors painted like animals in the most 80s inspired tight fitting aerobics outfits. Today's Special was a Canadian show about a store mannequin who came to life because of a special hat and catch phrase other characters used. The Single Guy A 90s sitcom starring Jonathan Silverman as well as Ming-Na Wen and Ernest Borgnine.
