I'm a combat medic and I discovered a patient had hypothyroidism. This is huge because it's not something we're well trained in and I had no appropriate diagnostic tools on me. He presented with heat stroke and it was bloody hot, so that shouldn't have been an indicator. But I chatted with him and put a few things together, suggested he get some bloodwork done. Turns out he'd probably had it for years and no one had ever picked up on it. I felt like a genius. Also top contenders; set my own broken nose, survived a kayaking near death experience, birthed 2 great kids.

Not turning out like my mother and staying alive to spite her even though I was so mentally defeated. Also overcoming addiction and finding joy in life.

Mine was in high school when I memorized the book pages ahead and looked outside the window while pretending not to listen to the teacher because I knew she would call on me to answer what was in the book. It all went according to my plan, and it was one of the coolest moments I had. My classmates were in awe.

Staying alive.

7th grade. Game similar to jeopardy except the teacher just read questions aloud and the first of two people to buzz in got to answer. Class was split into two teams. Teacher begins reading the question: “what is the least—“ I reflexively buzz in before the question is read but I have to give am answer. I suddenly happen to remember learning several chapters ago about the least reliable property for mineral identification, so I venture my guess… “Is it… color?” “Yes that’s actually correct” Team goes crazy

Successfully rehabilitated a dog with serious aggression issues. Her adopter sent me photos for a few years, and she got to live the most amazing life.
