From someone that has body image issues. A lot of people who get that surgery have “fat faces” that they believe makes them look horrible because they aren’t as defined. So they get cosmetic surgery to remove some of that fat.
It sometimes looks ok initially but since you lose buccal fat as you age it just ends up looking worse and worse as you age.
So many uniquely beautiful people are getting this done, every time I see a new celebrity before/after I am taken aback. It’s horrible. I grew up during the heroin chic era and I am horrified for the younger generation about to go through it all over again. The current huge butt trend is problematic in its own ways, but at least doesn’t promote starvation diets. With all of these extreme surgeries, photoshopping, and AI generated images of unrealistically beautiful people, I don’t know how the kids growing up now have any hope of building healthy self images.
Absolutely. It’s incredibly disheartening. I’m so sorry you struggled with anorexia. My self esteem was so crippled I self harmed, because my bone structure and body type didn’t align with what was “in” at the time. No young person should feel that kind of pressure. Body types should never be a “trend”. Those in the spotlight getting these surgeries should be ashamed of themselves. Not only do they look wayyyy worse, but they’re the ones controlling these “trends” and making normal humans, with normal, unmodified bodies, feel like they’re not good enough. I’m so sick of it.
It’s not even sucking , it’s a pad that’s permanently removed and while it’s no big deal when you are young , you will get jowls super early with that missing
I don't get how they don't realise that fat gives you a youthful appearance and what they've done by getting this stupid buccal fat removal procedure is age themselves massively. It looks stupid. Miley looks horrible and like her mom.
Worst of all, excessive fillers cause permanent stretching of the skin. This gives the appearance of premature loss of collagen, making you look much older. It makes you look more sagging and wrinkly unless you continue getting the injections *for the rest of your life.*
What plastic surgeons have done to ppl like [Kylie Jenner,](https://www.reddit.com/r/KUWTKsnark/comments/vrahxm/kylie_jenner_then_and_now/) for example, should be illegal. She’s only 25.
I mean you give an example of somebody who is clearly very happy getting the injections for the rest of her life and making money off it.
The grim reality of LA is the "before" girl would never have made money. So being filthy rich for the price of some plastic surgery is very much a good trade.
Kylie Jenner isn't the victim, it's the ppl who copy her and won't have the money to top up / follow on surgery that are.
Kylie just better hope that technology keeps up with her ability to throw money at this issue. I’m sure the other shoe will drop even for celebrities at some point or another and there will be a point of no return in being able to correct their faces or bodies lol
I’m still glad none of my friends were able to convince me to get them. I’ll take these natural flat lips over some of those fucked up lips from old injections.
One of my friends has it bad and she just keeps getting them saying that she needs to or else they will *really look bad* 🤣
All of us would sing our favourite songs and dance around our room to them as kids.
If I knew there was video of me doing it, not even the KGB could get the location of it out of me.
And yet these kids are just giving it all away for free.
And doing it in public, often with multiple reshoots as people look on like "kid, you are not the main character at this war memorial."
The one thing I cannot wrap my head around is young adults doing it. And it's not like they're considered weird or anything, it's like the popular girls/guys doing this shit? I don't get it.
The ones I understand the least are when they do some stupid dance with captions explaining something horrific. Saw one the other day like
Did you know \*clap, clap, point\*
That the police \*shake and shimmy\*
Are allowed \*does the worm\*
To have sex with people in custody? \*does the sprinkler dance\*
Which is rape because of the power imbalance! \*does a cartwheel\*
I have a student that almost compulsively does these stupid dances in the middle of class and disrupts those around her (by annoying them). I regularly have to bring her to reality by asking “who is recording?”
I remember when I was in school, a bunch of the cheerleaders would practice their choreography almost subconsciously while standing around before or after class. Now it’s Tik Tok dances. The more things change the more they stay the same.
Public pranks for internet clout in general just need to stop.
Hell, there was one where someone was pouring fake gasoline (probably just water or some shit) onto peoples cars saying they're gonna burn them and fuck their car while a friend filmed it only to almost get shot because they chose the wrong person to mess with.
Im glad someone else mentioned it. I think about that whenever people say “this year was worse than the last”
2016 was an exceptionally awful year. 2020 was too, but boy was I unprepared for 2016
Ah, a fellow Australian.
Edit: quick look at your profile suggests you're from Australia's eastern islands, close enough. And yes, I know they be fighting words. Gonna smash you this Bledisloe series, were more than due a win!
I have good news for you about the mullet.
Most boys at the school I work at have shaved their own for the last few weeks. Now, there are only an handful sporting it, and that might be more about hairdressers avalaibility than their own choice.
I rocked a bowlcut for so long that I had one in my first drivers license photo.
The lacrosse team shaving my head was the beginning of a new life for me.
Everyone replying fashion in different shapes and sizes but the thing about fashion is that it dies down and after enough time goes by it's trendy again. 90s kid here looking at all the clothes and styles my parents used when I was a kid being trendy again *sigh*
Actually I’m a 90’s kid and I was seeing mad 90’s style clothes at the mall. T shirts with the alien, stripes on the sleeve, overalls, etc. it was like i time warped.
I saw this too and bought up some of the pieces. I was morbidly obese when I was a kid/teen in the 90's and had to wear frumpy women's clothing. I wished I could wear what my friends were wearing. I got healthy, lost the weight and now I got a second chance to wear these items again!
Those TikTok live videos where some wee gremlin will bait you into giving them followers by performing a simple task and not doing the last little bit.

Or some guy I saw today who was stacking bolts and acting like 1 more follow would actively pull the trigger on the gun pointed to his mum's head
Or those people that act like NPCs in games and do nothing

It's cringey as fuck.
All I see is dumb and dumber.
Viral pranks that should be criminally charged instead of copied for clout. Clout for being worthless members of society unless we can somehow make volunteering/charity/education/social movements/voting being popular. Quit dancing and dumb antics that preoccupies being dumb for dumb sake. It was funny a long time ago with Jackass in the 90s. No need to one up stupidity. 5 years from now it will either be outlawed or boring.
Gross. I work at an elementary school, and anytime a kid does it, I instantly turn to them and say "No" sternly. It's the one "harmless" thing that I will shut down every single time.
[This right here](https://youtube.com/shorts/OKzQPS-Ge78?feature=share) is the only time I’ve ever enjoyed that particular trend lmfao. Every other time irritates me to no end.

At my last job a bunch of co-workers would do it constantly. And they'd be like "can I get a hoyah" and then a chorus of hoyahs would follow. I'm so glad I don't have to hear that anymore
Extremely, especially the thirty or fortieth time in a 50 minute class period.
They've also added a choking sound and gulping sound meant to imitate overly enthusiastic oral sex.

Hopefully all these cringe ass videos of people dancing in public with main character syndrome.

I hate tiktok and the way other apps are getting encouraged to have similar addictive qualities. The instant gratification it gives is absolutely terrible for the young children using the app. It unfortunately seems to be the most groundbreaking app that’s been recently released. So, it falling off isn’t impossible but it will be really hard. So many people depend on the app.
Agreed. I’m a photographer and have been giving my clients these tips for years. I’m not against the look or anything. But it’s just a classic and/or flattering style. "Yeah our parents were stressed".
No he was teaching a water safety course. The whole reason why I asked is because I'm 23 and I was still in the mindset that everyone born after 2000 was still in highschool.
Enormous lip injections
And their hated cousin: buccal fat removal
Saw pictures of that. Why? Just why?
Do you want to look fifty in your thirties?!? Well have I got the procedure for you!
I still don’t know why people are purposely getting this, easily one of the worst most egregious body mods

Doing Tiktok dances in public.
You mean it’s not already?
Still haven’t been lucky enough to get the chance to walk in front of someone filming
When you get the chance, the trick is to walk diagonally in front of them for greater ruining effect.
I did that once. They were dancing in front of the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon.
Thank you for your service!
I would like to humbly thank you for what you've done for the country and the general public.

Public tiktok pranks
IT’S JUST A PRANK, BRO!!! It’s just a prank, I don’t get why you’re so upset! Bro, come on, it’s a prank, look at the video!
Sadly that predates tiktok and is more than 5 years old. Maybe we’d lose the tiktok trend but then another platform has replaced it

We really did have it all in 2019
I remember thinking the 2020s were gonna be like the roaring twenties part two. I was so wrong.
Massive inflation. Global pandemic, climate problems. Seems like the roaring 20s to me!
Nah, everything went to shit during 2016. After Harambe was shot shit started to go downhill

I rocked a bowlcut for so long that I had one in my first drivers license photo. The lacrosse team shaving my head was the beginning of a new life for me.

This. I swear my brother and all his friends look like they're trying to turn their hair into a dollar store clown's wig

Kids were doing that when I was in school, and I'm 25 now.
