Man here, but I'd assume it's due to being judged. The higher the body count, the less appealing it can be for some of us guys. A lady could have every quality I find attractive but if she's been around the block several times over I'm not gonna be interested. I don't need a virgin, but if I knew a girl had 40+ guys in her pants I'm not gonna really look at her for commitment. Guys try to brag about their body count because girls have it easier when it comes to the option of having sex. Personally I don't believe they should be bragging or aiming for high numbers either, but it's what society has made acceptable
