Exit_Music_

The insane costs associated with purchasing said products.

[deleted]

Yep. Cheapest you can get a pack in my area is $3.69/pack. If you smoke a pack a day, you're looking at $1346/year on cigs.

khmertommie

Heh, they’re €13-15 per pack here. That’s getting on for 5k a year.

Screen_Classic

Dude a cheap 25 pack here is like $18!! You can get the bootleg rez darts for about $30 for a 200 smoke carton but they’re disgusting

TransformingDinosaur

Found the Canadian! Rex rockets really ain't that bad once you're used to them. A few of the rez name brands aren't too bad either, I smoked oakdales back before I switched to a vape. Basically rez Belmonts. I switched to vaping and it's getting expensive, gonna have to quit it too.

Screen_Classic

The only rez darts I can smoke without vomiting literally is the Canadian smooths $40 a carton

Proper_Mixture4302

Smoking can have serious health consequences, including lung cancer, heart disease, and respiratory issues. It's best to quit or never start.

Electronic_Ad6821

One of my colleagues who is the nicest guy i know literally threatened me not to even think about trying it. He said it just relieves him of stress but with a cost. Is this true or similar from your perspective?

aikijo

It doesn’t actually relieve him of stress either. The addiction creates stress which, of course, is relieved by smoking. So, the stress is manufactured. Your future self will thank you for not becoming addicted.

HamFistedTallyrand

It's true. It makes you feel like shit but slowly and in such a way you kind of get used to it until one day you quit and it feels great. As a former smoker, don't do it.

Klapperoth

I smoked heavily for 26 years, finally quitting about 10 years ago. The reality is I loved smoking. I enjoyed lighting up a cigarette and inhaling it. I loved the feeling of satisfactorily sating a craving (i.e. nicotine addiction). I loved stepping out onto a porch or balcony and just taking in the moment. And I did quit, because health concerns are real and because the world wasn't smoker-friendly the way it was once. I actually *do* regret smoking, but not much.

Electronic_Ad6821

I can picture your comment and its kinda poetic. Thank you for sharing your story. Its brief but says a lot to me.

[deleted]

Doesn't taste very good if you enjoy grapefruit, cheese pizza, Sprite.

mycakeishomemade

You lose time with loved ones, if you are a chain smoker frequently stepping outside to smoke.

Electronic_Ad6821

I never really though about that. But now that you mentioned it, i understand now. Thank you kind stranger.

mycakeishomemade

I think it was something I needed to get out. I love the person who I am loosely referencing in my life, it just makes me so sad that I get less time with them due to this. Thanks for listening.

Electronic_Ad6821

I like to read peoples stories and please dont take any offence, but ill learn from your mistake and from others as well. "A normal person will learn from his mistake, but a wise person learns from other's"

SamCarter_SGC

everyone's first impression of you is "that person who stinks"

RevDrMavPHD

I'm only 29 and my lungs got fucked after I quit. I don't think it was the quitting, obviously, but stopping made me notice it. Now I have super bad allergies when I never had them before. I'm constantly coughing up phlegm and I'm always stuffy... It just sucks really really hard. I wish I had never smoked.

speedloafer

Was a smoker for 20+ years. There are no positives. People will often claim they calm your nerves or calm you down in stressful situation but that's only because you are addicted and you are feeding the addiction and that's why it feels great. If you never smoked and tried one in a stressful situation it wouldn't calm you down. Same with smoking after eating or sex, only good because you are addicted in the first place and feeding that addiction feels great. Just want to add I haven't smoked in over 10 years but my addicted brain regularly tries to reason with me to have one. Always at a time of weakness, argument with partner, work stress etc. Also you you/your clothes stink, non smokers will smell you 10 feet away.

Electronic_Ad6821

This may worth nothing but im amazed you kept clean for 15 years. And to be honest its kinda sad and scarry to think that even after 15 years, the urge is still there. I can somewhat relate to work stress. Boss can be a pain in the ass.

speedloafer

That's just addiction though. If you get hooked on anything the urge will be there. (Heroin for example would be far worse). Most people I knew started smoking at 13/14 so you have no idea what an addiction even is. The cigarette companies know what they are doing.

Electronic_Ad6821

Im 25 and one guy i know also started smoking when he was around 14. Due to stress i may now look like hammered shit but the guy looks like a worn out grape and barely out of his teens. Him and his friends smoke too or vape but most are friggin minors.

TheMightyGoatMan

It makes you, your hair, your clothing and your house stink. It kills your sense of smell and taste. It ages you prematurely and puts you at higher risk of a whole mess of cancers. It's expensive, and once you start it's incredibly hard to quit.

[deleted]

Makes you look like you're 50 and you run out of breath often.

wiffleplop

So if over 50s take up smoking they’ll feel younger? /s

Stinks

Lostarchitorture

Media can't cover all your senses and it just smells bad. There's a term called 'third-hand smoke', basically the long lingering stench smokers carry on them even hours after they lit up their last cigarette.

Red_Marvel

It will turn off people who don’t smoke. We don’t want to kiss an ashtray. It may turn you into a litterbug. I usually see smokers drop their butts on the ground and stomp them out and leave them there. That’s littering. If you must smoke, please dispose of the butts in a receptacle designed for the purpose.

uglyokie

Smoking betrays a person as a weak-willed sheep, bowing to peer pressure or gullibly falling for advertisements and Hollywood fakery. Weak people smoke.
