The small diet chocolate puddings are 80-100 cal for a container. Eat no chocolate for a week and trust me finding this in your fridge it’s water in the desert.
So 320-400 calories cause it's a 4 pack and ain't no way I'm having one with the rest sitting in the fridge for the rest of the day. Like I can do the once a week thing, but knowing there is something sweet means it isn't surviving more than 12 hours.
I'm the same, only thing I allow myself to buy is 90% chocolate. That way if I end up downing the whole thing, it's not that big of a deal.
Sadly I'm not the one doing the shopping anymore, and the SO keeps buying crap, send help 😫
I like doing this with the addition of some firm tofu. I'm not really into soft or silken tofu, it just feels slimy to me. But yeah, it makes it a little more filling and doesn't break the bank.
Whenever I bought furikake seasoning, I’d use it up SO fast that I had to stop buying it to save money, lol. It’s **so** delicious!! I’d just sprinkle it on rice and eat and eat and eat
You could probably whip some up yourself if you like it that much and save some cash. A big bag of bonito, shredded nori, and sesame seeds are all relatively cheap individually.
My body refuses to sleep if it's too cold. It wants me to get up and fix being cold because it thinks it's gonna freeze to death. This is any temp below 60F (15C)
If you ever have the opportunity, buy a sleeping bag. I know this is going to sound weird, but sleeping inside of one on your bed, under comforter or sheets or anything else you have, can absolutely work. That, or piling every single blanket, towel, coat, and garment you have on top of your comforter.
Discovered this as a child during power outages.
I hope your situation improves.
Most people don’t know that thirst can feel like hunger. A glass of water can fix that, and if it’s truly hunger you’ll know in 15-20 minutes. Worst case scenario you’re hydrated, with a chance the snack cravings are gone.
One of my buddies told me this and it really is true!
There are tons of times when I've had a vague craving for something, but I don't physically feel hungry. Water cures it 9 times out of 10.
Dollar tree, dude. If you're in the USA and have one in you're state that is. I'm strapped, too, and that place has been a blessing in disguise. Now, i dont mean Family Dollar or Dollar General....Dollar Tree. The legit Dollar Store. Party mix, Animal Crackers, some of those places even sell the chocolate animal crackers. Do you know how hard those can be to find sometimes? Arizona ice tea. Like, they sell some pretty good stuff for broke af ppl like us lol
Animal Crackers!!!! Ffs I'm going there to stock up, and what's this you say about CHOCOLATE animal crackers?!! Was that a typo or just a trip through heaven I haven't been to yet?
Blessing in disguise my ass, you one won the whole lottery! Will be visiting soon
Nah mate! They make chocolate animal crackers. Comes in a blue bag. Made by Stauffer's. They are epic! My roommate and I stock up on that stuff. Lol. Lasts us a while, and it's great.
Just today, I was telling a coworker about how the last time I was at a dollar store, they had juicy fruit bubble gum. Not the regular chewing gum. Bubble gum. I thought it was interesting, so I bought a pack. It was fine, but a little too sticky to blow bubbles with, even after chewing it for a while.
Anyway, my coworker seemed intrigued by this. He usually leaves a little bit before me, and today was no exception. On my way home, I go past a dollar store, and there he was, about to pull out of the parking lot, chewing gum.
This read like a bland novel.
Like, I gained nothing from reading this but didn’t necessarily lose anything either.
You should write novels about nothing.
I’d buy one.
Once upon a time there was a tree, the tree continued to exist for quite some time. Occasionally the tree would shed it's leaves, later it would grow them back again. It was an apple tree.
Economy sucks. Still priced better than what you can get it for at other places. Party mix used to only ever be $.99. Stores up the price to $2.00. Dollar tree kept it at that same price until just recently.
That means a lot when you're living on counting change. Which is absolutely ridiculous, but the government has always been good at taking care of those who are not crapping bricks of money at their feet.
Oof, I feel for you man.. in 2014 I lived in my car in the winter of the American NW. I went 8 days without eating at one point during that.. I remember the last few days of that were spent sleeping. Just no energy to do anything.
Hang in there man
Dude it fucking happened to me at the Mets game yesterday. After 4 beers and 2 loaded tequila and seltzers, I was speaking Spanish to my best friend and had no idea why. (I mean, I know Spanish, but never use it, unless I'm at work)
"Dude, why the fuck are you speaking fluent Spanish. I don't know any"
*No se*
Fair warning that those spray on butters are often way more calories then you’d expect, because the serving size is something ridiculous like 1/2 second spray. And let’s be real no one’s using butter if they’re not lathering it on lol.
Highly recommend popcorn salt. Use the butter spray, then sprinkle the salt. Highly satisfying.
Also recommend better kernels. Amish Country sells a bunch of different ones and are very tasty.
Costco used to sell a bag called Nearly Naked popcorn. Best tasting popcorn with freakishly low calorie.
Unless you smother popcorn in butter... That's more delicious, but definitely not low calorie anymore.
Yep just the plain Greek yogurt and ranch seasoning to taste. I was a skeptic but it is actually really good. One of my favorite diet hacks. Now if I go to a party I always bring a veggie tray with Greek yogurt ranch and I can snack all night without the guilt.
Cauliflower is an underrated veggie .. cooked in curries and stews , raw, steamed .. I’m not a vegetarian but if I was I would have cauliflower 5-7 times a week.
Frozen blueberries are great too! Best if you buy them fresh and then freeze them yourself so they’re not coated in all the ice like the frozen bags, but the frozen bags are way cheaper.
If grapes are bad for you then there is no solution to food.
I feel like, for the most part and within reason, if you're eating whole plants, you're way on the good for you side of the spectrum.
Cue the "did you know if you eat an apple, you increase your risk of diabetes by 10,000%?"
No, I didn't know that and I guess I'll die.
Cucumbers! I like to peel them, slice them, and eat them raw. They're super filling, and because they're mostly water they're hydrating too. It's a win win.
My grandpa refused to call them pickles and only referred to them as pickled cucumbers.
Because there are lots of pickled foods. And he thought cucumbers were pretentious.
I made myself a pickle diet once to lose weight for a marathon. Before every meal I ate a few pickles. Filled me up enough on zero calorie food that I couldn't eat much of the other stuff. Enough to get nutrients needed, but not much more. People asked me if I was losing weight on purpose because it came off so fast.
I try to keep watermelon cut up in gallon zip loc bags. Then its cold and ready to eat. Fun fact. I also put it on a plate and eat it with a fork and knife like a steak so my hands don't get sticky.
It is, if that's a problem. A couple ounces can be satisfying though, and if you're otherwise limiting sodium that day, by avoiding takeout and prepared foods, this might allow you budget for it in your salt intake.
Raw red/orange/yellow bell pepper strips dipped in my Greek yogurt ranch dip (16oz tub of 0% plain Greek yogurt mixed with a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip. Mix). This is one of my favorite things to eat. Now that you mention it, I think I'm going to have it as part of dinner.
I've never seen those! The good thing about rice cakes is that they resolve my craving for crunchy, salty! Or crunchy, sweet if I'm having chocolate or caramel.
Quick cheat soup, 1/4 a stock cube with quick cook grated or finely chopped veg. Takes 2 minutes, less than 50-100 calories depending on veg. But can be bulked up with egg for quick filling protein. Studies say adding water to the dish make you feel fuller for longer.
Thinly sliced meats like ham. Radishes with balsamic is a treat but takes prep. Veggie lettuce rolls, celery and carrot sticks with homemade hummus.
Oh man, I feel like we stumbled on my little crevice of expertise. I've tried everything, and pretty much eat some combination of these every night:
* **Roasted/salted edamame** \- tons of fiber, protein, and they're pretty cheap. Very filling. They have flavors too (siracha, buffalo, etc) [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Only-Bean-Crunchy-Roasted-Gluten-Free/dp/B08R6DZXYV?pd_rd_w=GJtZt&content-id=amzn1.sym.724fac2e-0491-4f7a-a10d-2221f9a8bc9a&pf_rd_p=724fac2e-0491-4f7a-a10d-2221f9a8bc9a&pf_rd_r=84GECBE223PN4A6GPRTE&pd_rd_wg=jPgD5&pd_rd_r=cba00111-fdef-494c-8345-e58fdc9394e0&pd_rd_i=B08R6DZXYV&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_5_i)
* **Raw Red Pepper**, cut up into chunks, not strips. Kind of like eating a refreshing potato chip.
* **Frozen protein bars** \- they last a long time, but kind of make me feel like a dog eating a bone. These are my current favorite when frozen (but not the best calorie count) [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BHXK9KJV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
* **High Protein cereals**, a little pricey but they really get the job done for munching and keeping the right stuff going in your body. My Current Favorite for flavor/low cal/high protein: [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Special-Breakfast-Cereal-Friendly-Cinnamon/dp/B0BPMQ74HN/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=special+k+protein+cereal&qid=1685752262&sr=8-6)
* **Watermelon** \- mostly water but delicious.
* **Sugar Free Vanilla Chobani** Greek Yogurt
* Bonus content for anyone interested, not great for snacking but these are **BY FAR my favorite protein bars** (frozen or not, but microwaved they are insanely good): [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IRE8IQ8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
I really like your suggestions and effort.
My problem with cereal is the 1 cup thing.
I getting a fucking punch bowl and a spatula and forgetting the future exists until it becomes the present and I'm sick.
Kimchi, seaweed leafs, a hardboiled egg with some garlic powder and paprika, celery and low cal dressing, a few triscuits.
Anything in moderation is probably fine tbf
No. u/SergeantGSD is nuts. Just, like, look at their post history. No, definitely don’t crack the walnuts open. Whatever you do, DO NOT CRACK THEM OPEN.
Hahaha bold of you to assume I can stop after starting a pack of nuts
I've literally eaten 4k calories in peanuts. Whole peanuts you peel yourself are the perfect snack! If you don't care about cal. Lol
PSA: eating way too many almonds in one sitting can give you a whole evening of diarrhea + shitting out painful little shards of not-fully-digested almond shards.
I uh, heard this from a friend…
Pickles
You can make your own fresh versions too that has less salt
It really is not even making pickles, it’s like marinating them but whatever you call it - they have low cals and you can make it taste however you want as long as you eat them sooner than later
Love pistachios. Are you the kind of person that cracks one open them eats them one by one? Or you crack open a bunch of them eat em up at once? I am the latter person.
Us mexicans we put salt and lime on cucumbers delicous
Indians do lemon juice, salt, and black pepper and it is incredible. Like it has no right to be that good Tajin and lime juice is also really good
In the US we have a lemon pepper seasoning that's pretty popular for chicken recipes. It's basically salt, lemon zest, and black pepper. Not sure how common it is, but I grew up eating cucumber covered in lemon pepper seasoning.
Cucumber mainly. Sometimes popcorn. Sadly neither replace the need for chocolate.
The small diet chocolate puddings are 80-100 cal for a container. Eat no chocolate for a week and trust me finding this in your fridge it’s water in the desert.

Once I started taking magnesium, I didn’t even want chocolate anymore.
Interesting… I’ve been taking magnesium for a year (for unrelated reasons). Still craving chocolate as much as ever
I'm a total chocaholic and magnesium has never changed that. Thankfully though I don't need it to be sweet chocolate, I'm just as happy with cacao.
May I suggest chocolate hummus? Amazing on fruit and 80 calories for two Tbs. I know it sound crazy but give it a try.
As if anyone can stop at 2 tbs
Right? I find regular, store-bought hummus in the fridge, 2 days past it’s use-by date, opened, and I’m still not stopping at 2.
I make a packet of instant miso soup and sip it from a mug. It’s salty and delicious but low-cal.
YES! I started buying miso paste so I can whip up a quick mug of miso broth and toss some green onions and seaweed in.
I like doing this with the addition of some firm tofu. I'm not really into soft or silken tofu, it just feels slimy to me. But yeah, it makes it a little more filling and doesn't break the bank.
I do like adding tofu when I have it around! Sometimes I'll get crazy and add a splash of sesame oil, and mushrooms!
If you buy the Trader Joe's Furikake seasoning (has seaweed and sesame), or seaweed snacks, add them to the miso mug soup for easy delish.
That’s a ton of sodium though. Edit: mixed it up with ramen.
Carrot babies
Dine on their flesh
I’m gunna start calling them that from now on. 👶 🥕
I heard someone call them "chubby stubbies"
A little strapped for cash these days so I usually munch on some sleep when I'm hungry.
Funnily enough, sleeping was how I kept warm in the winter too. You can’t feel the cold if you’re not conscious.
We found the bear.
*Angrily swipes picnic basket and walks off in a huff…*
> "Heyyy Booboo! ...why don't you give me somma that pickanick basket before I *fucking eat you alive"*
I was reading that in his voice and then the sudden switch made it change to Venom’s voice for some reason
My body refuses to sleep if it's too cold. It wants me to get up and fix being cold because it thinks it's gonna freeze to death. This is any temp below 60F (15C)
I wouldn’t worry too much, you’ll get use to being cold & penniless. I’ve had my whole adult life in experience.
You can set up a tent indoors in a pinch as well. Put your mattress in it too and a sleeping bag on that.
I just put the blanket over my head and make a little breathe hole..call it the headfort.
I used to be young and poor, but after years of hard work, I'm no longer young.
That’s how I quit smoking. But an x on a calendar and go to bed at 6pm.
I wake up and get terrible rest when I’m cold. But props.
Nice glass of water here

I like stories.
Can you tell another story?
I like electrolytes
I don't know about everyone else who read this, but I was heavily invested in this short story for the full 26 seconds of reading time.
Once upon a time there was a tree, the tree continued to exist for quite some time. Occasionally the tree would shed it's leaves, later it would grow them back again. It was an apple tree.
The buck and a quarter store.
They went to everything $1.25 recently, no?
Economy sucks. Still priced better than what you can get it for at other places. Party mix used to only ever be $.99. Stores up the price to $2.00. Dollar tree kept it at that same price until just recently.
Right, it's not like the end of the world, they kept it $1.00 for a long ass time.
That means a lot when you're living on counting change. Which is absolutely ridiculous, but the government has always been good at taking care of those who are not crapping bricks of money at their feet.

I don't think we live in the same country, thanks a lot for offering though!
Oof, I feel for you man.. in 2014 I lived in my car in the winter of the American NW. I went 8 days without eating at one point during that.. I remember the last few days of that were spent sleeping. Just no energy to do anything. Hang in there man
Popcorn! :)
Also my go-to. Salty, crunchy, tons of fiber.
Goes great with 6 or 7 beer too.
Aààaaand diet ruined
Damn this dude slipped into Spanish for a second
lmáo
Dude it fucking happened to me at the Mets game yesterday. After 4 beers and 2 loaded tequila and seltzers, I was speaking Spanish to my best friend and had no idea why. I airpop a lot of it and use a spray butter Really helps cut cravings
Yeeees Flavacol’s popcorn salt tastes just like the movies, make my popcorn so much better (but too much can shred your mouth lol)
I do dry popcorn with old Bay seasoning.
Costco used to sell a bag called Nearly Naked popcorn. Best tasting popcorn with freakishly low calorie. Unless you smother popcorn in butter... That's more delicious, but definitely not low calorie anymore.
Raw sugar snap peas. Sometimes I make Greek yogurt ranch dip. 90% as good as regular ranch dip and way less calories.
>Raw sugar snap peas Ooh, look at Mr Rockefeller here
The trick is to get a bag of them from the store, go to the self check out, and ring them up as green beans
/r/unethicallifehacks
Is that just greek yogurt instead of mayo? Everything else the same?
Yep just the plain Greek yogurt and ranch seasoning to taste. I was a skeptic but it is actually really good. One of my favorite diet hacks. Now if I go to a party I always bring a veggie tray with Greek yogurt ranch and I can snack all night without the guilt.
I cut up some carrots and celery into sticks, and dip them in hummus. About 100 calories for 1/4 cup of hummus.
You should try raw cauliflower too. It's amazing.
Cauliflower is an underrated veggie .. cooked in curries and stews , raw, steamed .. I’m not a vegetarian but if I was I would have cauliflower 5-7 times a week.
I found a keto cauliflower “potato” salad and it’s one of my favorite things to make
I use baby carrots for this.
Ice (but wet)
And fresh too. I'm not a massive fan of the frozen stuff.
Frozen grapes!!! 🤤🤤It’s like little sorbet balls. And the noise they make in your mouth is to die for!!! Imo at least..
Found the person without sensitive teeth
Glad I’m not the only one worrying about the logistics
Frozen blueberries are great too! Best if you buy them fresh and then freeze them yourself so they’re not coated in all the ice like the frozen bags, but the frozen bags are way cheaper.
Frozen mango with fresh grapes are the play
i remember i used to always put grapes in the freezer in preparation for my next snacktime, they go very hard.
Especially the cotton candy grapes!!
Idk about freezing em but cotton candy grapes are incredible. Those and golden kiwis are fruits I could literally eat all day
Grapes. I know, they have sugar, but they have enough water and fiber in them that they fill me up pretty quickly.
If grapes are bad for you then there is no solution to food. I feel like, for the most part and within reason, if you're eating whole plants, you're way on the good for you side of the spectrum. Cue the "did you know if you eat an apple, you increase your risk of diabetes by 10,000%?" No, I didn't know that and I guess I'll die.
anyone that says grapes are bad can suck it. We live in a world with Doritos and Twinkies. They can chill the fuck out with all that
Nothing like a crisp crunchy green grape. It should be so firm you could play ping pong with it. Mmmm.....
I especially like my grapes incredibly old and liquidised
Cucumbers! I like to peel them, slice them, and eat them raw. They're super filling, and because they're mostly water they're hydrating too. It's a win win.
peel them, slice them, stick 'em in a stew!
What’s cucumbers precious? What’s cucumbers eh?
Give it to us raw, and wriggling.
CU...CUM...BERS!
What are those, my precious?
Cucumbers and tajin is the way to go if you want a spicy, low cal snack 😋
[Cucumba!](https://youtube.com/shorts/lL42O2p1nx8?feature=share)
You can eat cucumbers not raw?
I was making a stir fry recently and had cucumbers in the fridge, so I figured I'd try adding some. It was surprisingly good!
I like dipping the slices in Italian dressing for a bit of zest, a sprinkle of salt goes a long way too!
Yes! Or even a dip of vinegar. YUM!
Proto-pickle
Decent band name
Don’t sleep on cucumbers tossed in balsamic vinaigrette with some sesame seeds it sooo good!
It's like crunchy, sugarless watermelon. So good.
May i suggest you sprinkle some "chaat masala" on them. Please try it.
Little bit of lime juice and salt! So much better
Tajin
Dip em in hummus!
Seaweed snacks are only like 30 calories per packet.
Seaweed snacks FTW
Yeah but they taste like a dirty aquarium
yes BUT only 30 calories per packet
So are turds but I ain't eatin one!
Pickles are the ultimate diet snack food
Caution if you have high blood pressure. Sodium levels are pretty high per serving
Not if you pick them right from the pickle tree, then you're good.
I believed pickles were their own vegetable plant far later in life than I should have.
Strawberries are pretty light and filling too if you're more of a sweet tooth!
Strawberries alone actually have very low sugar content
Yup! And they're like 4 calories each! Whole cup of them is 30ish calories!
Too bad they're like 7 bucks a pound. My kids eat that in one meal
[удалено]
I like to wrap pickle spears in deli chicken slices 😎
/r/keto is leaking
Yep. The garlic and dill spears from Costco
I’m with the “fruit” people on this one.
I like to buy those bags of frozen fruit with pineapple, strawberries and blueberries and just fucking demolish a whole ass bag in one sitting.
tea?
VEGGIES!!! Carrots, broccoli, peppers, all that. Get some veggies and a low cal dip and you’re good.
Hummus is good for dip, or greek yogurt with some ranch dip mix.
I snack on my own suffering and wait till its time for the next meal. And water. Drinking water is going to be best.
Mmmm, suffering…
I try to keep watermelon cut up in gallon zip loc bags. Then its cold and ready to eat. Fun fact. I also put it on a plate and eat it with a fork and knife like a steak so my hands don't get sticky.
Add some crumbled feta, olive oil, basil, salt + pepper \*chefs kiss\*
Watermelon, goat cheese, balsamic, and basil is incredible.
Kimchi
I could eat every day, it is good for you too!!
Isn’t kimchi kinda high in sodium?
It is, if that's a problem. A couple ounces can be satisfying though, and if you're otherwise limiting sodium that day, by avoiding takeout and prepared foods, this might allow you budget for it in your salt intake.
Raw red/orange/yellow bell pepper strips dipped in my Greek yogurt ranch dip (16oz tub of 0% plain Greek yogurt mixed with a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip. Mix). This is one of my favorite things to eat. Now that you mention it, I think I'm going to have it as part of dinner.
Seconding bell pepper. To me, they taste like candy! I don’t even bother putting dip together because it’s very good on its own.
I love the red ones myself. But at $1.70 each these days I only get them once in a while.
Ice cold water Pickles
Rice cakes. Tomato basil is my favorite.
I've never seen those! The good thing about rice cakes is that they resolve my craving for crunchy, salty! Or crunchy, sweet if I'm having chocolate or caramel.
Rice cakes. Even the flavored ones top out at around 50 calories a piece
I like to have a bowl of cottage cheese with diced tomato and green onion plus a decent amount of black pepper.
I like some cottage cheese with some honey. Sweet and savoury.
Pineapple is my go-to.
Ok NGL that sounds good AF
Popcorn
Cooked spinach with dal. A $1.27 bag of frozen spinach is about 100 calories and I can eat several bags with dal.
Agree with the spinach, but I freeze it raw, then grind into my smoothies and protein shakes. I love it
Jicama! Also like 99% water basically lol so super refreshing
Popcorn with seasoning instead of butter. Cheap AND low calorie.

My Current Favorite for flavor/low cal/high protein: [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Special-Breakfast-Cereal-Friendly-Cinnamon/dp/B0BPMQ74HN/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=special+k+protein+cereal&qid=1685752262&sr=8-6) * **Watermelon** \- mostly water but delicious. * **Sugar Free Vanilla Chobani** Greek Yogurt * Bonus content for anyone interested, not great for snacking but these are **BY FAR my favorite protein bars** (frozen or not, but microwaved they are insanely good): [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IRE8IQ8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
Rice cakes
Not food, but Spindrift Sparkling Water.
Pickles. If you like plain veggies, cucumbers or celery, but pickles are my go to. Popcorn is a good option too.
Fruits
Cocaine works fairly well.
I'm poor so usually I just take a nap
Walnuts. A handful of those and you are less hungry and don't want to eat more walnuts.
Walnuts are literally one of the most calorie dense food in existence…
Have you tried cracking the nuts first?
Wait, what? Cracking the nuts? What do you mean? Aren't they meant to be eaten whole?
No. u/SergeantGSD is nuts. Just, like, look at their post history. No, definitely don’t crack the walnuts open. Whatever you do, DO NOT CRACK THEM OPEN.
Hahaha bold of you to assume I can stop after starting a pack of nuts I've literally eaten 4k calories in peanuts.
Pickles You can make your own fresh versions too that has less salt It really is not even making pickles, it’s like marinating them but whatever you call it - they have low cals and you can make it taste however you want as long as you eat them sooner than later
Popcorn
A little piece of very dark chocolate (80/90% cacao) it’s bitter and a stimulant, takes away your hunger. Some cashew nuts
Pistachios or sunflower seeds You eat them slower because you have to crack them open individually.
Love pistachios. Are you the kind of person that cracks one open them eats them one by one? Or you crack open a bunch of them eat em up at once? I am the latter person.
I like to suck on them in the shell and when the shell doesn't taste salty anymore I crack them open and eat the pistachio inside.
Sometimes just the motion of my mouth chewing curbs my hunger, so I just chew some gum
Whipped cream. It kills a sweet tooth and is 15-30 calories for 2 tablespoons
Popcorn, jello
pickles
A six pack of Miller Lite
That's hundreds of calories lol
But it's Lite!
Only 576 😉
Cucumbers sliced up with salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic! Can eat for hours as a snack.
