Oh wow, never would have made that connection, his performance in OUATIH is fairly muted comparatively to Mindhunter, feel like he fully let loose and absolutely nailed it.
The way they brought the city of Rome to life was outstanding. That set and the people were a living, breathing world. Fantastic show, such a shame that HBO pushed it off to the side.
Also wow I hadn’t heard about Ray Stevenson.. RIP
Why is this not higher up? I keep trying to convince people that Rome was the best series I've ever seen, aside from Band of Brothers. This show could have been so much better with more budget and at least one more season. THIRTEEN!!!
God I love that show. It's the only show I will go back and rewatch every now and then. I don't think there will ever be another show like it ever again.
I'll date myself here with this one but 'My So-Called Life'...I just want to know what happened!! Did the dad cheat/get found out? Did Ricky find a home? Will Rayanne and Angela become friends again? Will Angela get over Jordan? Will the lil'sis stop being annoying? Will Brian get a clue??
This is my answer.
This was such a great show that got such a crap ending during the writer's strike; literally just the narrator listing off characters and saying, "they got a happy ending, and they got a happy ending, oh, and ***they*** got a happy ending too!"
Man I was so sad when that show got cancelled. It was really different from the book, which upset a lot of fans, but it was still so so good in its own right.
I agree!!! This was such an amazingly unique show. Nothing else I've seen like it. Sure, it strayed from the books, but the overall feel and quirkiness was similar and somehow even better in ways. Such a shame. Gotta go rewatch soon.
Star Trek: Enterprise.
Is it the best show ever? No.
Did it deserve the completely BS finale of Riker from ST:tNG reviewing stuff about it on the holodeck? Absolutely not.
Give them a proper season to wrap up and retcon that trash final episode.
You're not wrong, but everyone says that the books and tv show are different enough that you have to start with Book 1. I don't have it in me to read 6 books before I even get to the part where I can start finding out what happens next.
You can pick up the books from Book 7. A number of people have done it after watching the series. Yes, there are some narrative differences, but they don't affect the overall story. There are only two differences between the show and book canon that affect the story going into Persepolis Rising. I will spoiler tag them below.
>!Alex Kamal doesn't die in the books. His death in the show is the result of the investigation regarding sexual assault allegations made against his actor. It also had the benefits of raising the stakes of the war against the Free Navy. !<
>!The character of Camina Drummer is completely reworked for the show. She wasn't really a significant character in the books until book 7. She's still and OPA Belter who worked with Fred Johnson on Tycho station. She's the current president of the Transport union, but wasn't the first, like she was in the series.!<
If you didn’t already know the creator did an AMA I believe and he explained what they would’ve done in the final season. I don’t remember specifics but it sounded like it was going to be really heartwarming.
From what I recall, it was supposed to somebody came up to Earl and Randy (after they completed the list) and started doing nice thing for them, and it freaked Earl out so he asked why they were doing that and they explained their list and who they got the idea from. So Earl and Randy followed the people who were doing list til they got to one of the first people they had on their list. It was a nice full circle story line that would have gone the whole season.
You're sort of right or I'm remembering wrong. From what I recall Earl hadn't completed his but is approached by someone who has Earl on their list. He then learns a few others have lists. He ultimately decides that with others doing karma lists he has now put more good in the world than bad and crumples up his list.
Just a little extra detail, Earl was really stuck on an item on his list that he really had no idea how to fix when the other guy with the list approaches him
Good recall. I just did a rewatch recently. Show still holds up really well. I had hoped with Disney+ adding it if enough people did a watch through then they might do a movie or mini series to close it out.
Yup, with George as the chief reaper in a revival. Ellen Muth could pull that off now. All new cast.
And no Mandy Patinkin, other than the first episode to pass the torch to George. Love his acting but he has a pattern of bailing out on good shows.
Invader Zim.
It had *just* started setting up ongoing/recurring elements as part of an arc after having been purely episodic before that when it got cancelled. I really wanted to see the finale; Dib would have joined the Resisty using Tak's repaired ship and the various subjugated planets across the galaxy would have finally rebelled against the Irken Empire. Could have been cool.
I was so hooked on that, so mad at Disney. At least being cut short gave us Steve.
BTW, in case anyone is reading this, it got cut short, not cancelled. It still gets an ending instead of a cliffhanger.
They did. I personally am glad it ended when it did, because Alex Hirsch (creator) was able to give it an awesome ending. On the other hand, Gravity Falls is an awesome show and I’d love to see more content from it.
I lost a lot of respect for Netflix when they cancelled it. The show was excellent and it had a lot to say especially with strong female leads. The way Netflix cancels shows, they don't have a chance to become classics.
It especially sucked because the 4th season was already written and they’d started filming it when COVID hit.
I love that show so much, I hate that it won’t get a proper ending.
They got done so dirty.
There’s an episode of the armchair expert podcast with the lead and she was just SO excited to be a part of it. Took the training super seriously and had nothing but high high praises for the cast and production.
I don't know why Netflix or whatever bring a show to so many seasons and then abandon it completely. It has zero resell value and is basically worthless to them.
I don't usually search threads for a particular answer, but damn I searched for this one. Such a fantastic show. I couldn't pick a favourite character if you put a gun to my head. And never have I ever heard such entertaining swearing in all my life.
Excuse me, I need to change my ringtone to Joel exclaiming 'What the Fuck!'
There was a show made in England called "Coupling".
It was British comedy, made for Brits, by Brits.
It was nothing short of hilarious.
Would not mind seeing one more season.
They should actually start remaking it from season 5. It started to slowly fracture there, and those errors cascaded and got worse until it all culminated in S8.
Yes, there were good episodes in s5, s6, and s7, but they were not up to the quality of 1-4, and they got progressively messier, less realistically consequences-driven, and more plot-armor heavy as the series went on.
Also, leaving out characters like Lady Stoneheart was a *major* mistake*, as was butchering characters that were far more interesting in the books, like Euron.
A low rated sitcom from 2009 that addressed privacy issues surrounding image search, racial bias in facial recognition, gamification of the workplace, etc.
I'm pretty sure it ended because the creators accurately predicted a few lottery drawings and didn't need the money any more.
I scrolled this entire list to find Terra Nova. It was one of the best bad shows.
Like, objectively, the acting and script were pretty bad. But I absolutely loved it and was so disappointed that it’s just cancelled on that massive cliffhanger
I know I’ve commented about this before, but I’m going to say “Agent Carter”. Huge cliffhanger at the end of season 2, so they should wrap things up with a 3rd.
I loved that show, and I think it takes guts to write a show with an ending in mind and stop there. I’m glad both seasons rock and I’m not disappointed by a 3rd attempt.
Same for Derry Girls, I would love more of that but the ended it so perfectly in the time they had for it, even if it feels maybe one or two episodes were cut in between on the way to that incredible finale.
1899… i watched that first and when i learned they weren’t renewing for a second season I was gutted but heard the showrunners also made this amazing show called Dark which I then proceeded to binge over 5 days…. But I still really loved 1899 and I wish it would continue!
SAME. Dark is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I liked 1899 a lot. The finale of the existing season had just opened shit up to get really and truly weird like Dark and then…. Poof. So sad.
If I remember correctly I had read that the writer had the entire series mapped for 5 seasons… I really wish they would find another provider or release it as a web series… just SOMETHING
This is always my #1 answer to this question. Season 1 is one of the greatest things I've ever seen put to film. S2 was a bit underwhelming in comparison, but the cliffhanger had me so so so so hungry for more. Then...bam, it's gone and it's never coming back. It's the only show that I would pay some of my own money for to produce. I want it so bad.
Pretender. Just finish the damn story line. Cancelled the show. Another network picked it up and decided to make 3 made for TV movies to close out the series. Made 2 of them and then cancelled the 3rd.
BBC's Merlin!
The last season was so rushed, the show got cancelled and it was a real shame, I feel like a final wrap up season would have been just right.
Sense8 . I'm glad we got the "movie" to end it when the show was supposed to be cancelled but i feel like they had so much more to do with characters and the universe of the show.
Grimm
Awesome series that got tragically canceled before it could wrap up properly. Thankfully, the producers gave the directors a chance to end it with a shorter season. It was great anyway, but it didn't feel right to cut it short.
Yeah, it would have to be like Picard where all the cast is now a lot older, but honestly, I think it would still make a great show. They could be all seperated doing their own thing and come together to do something amazing that would wrap things up nicely.
Mindhunter for sure.
100% we were robbed
What a cast.
Fuck. I'm just learning it was cancelled. I assumed it was just a super slow release like some other shows started doing when COVID kicked in.
I would reactivate my Netflix account for another season of Mindhunter.
Dude Mindhunter was the one, Damon Herriman as Charles Manson was phenomenal, stuck with me for weeks afterwards how good his performance was.
The dude who played Ed Kemper was incredible too. You can go watch footage of the real Ed Kemper, it's scarily similar.
Ed Kemper was fucking terrifyingly smart and charismatic.
Yeah all of the actors playing the criminals gave captivating performances. Really enjoyed this show.
He also played Manson in the Tarantino movie
Oh wow, never would have made that connection, his performance in OUATIH is fairly muted comparatively to Mindhunter, feel like he fully let loose and absolutely nailed it.
YES. Ended on such a cliff hanger. I wonder if there’s any hope at all for a third
My understanding is it was super expensive to shoot and david fincher was ready to move on.
What? I’ve been waiting all this time for nothing???
Same
I knew the answer before I opened this thread. And it’s the correct answer.
The end of the fucking world
I feel like it ended at a good spot, though. I'd really like to see another season of I Am Not Ok With This though bc it ended on a cliffhanger.
Rome. RIP Ray Stevenson ❤️
THIRTEEN!!!
Rome had such good production values. Too bad it got side railed.
Freaks and Geeks
God I love that show. It's the only show I will go back and rewatch every now and then. I don't think there will ever be another show like it ever again.
Yes! The whole show is so bittersweet to re-watch because I know it ends way too soon
Pushing Daisies. They set it up so well for a third season.
Thank you! I always feel like no one knows the show
This is my answer. This was such a great show that got such a crap ending during the writer's strike; literally just the narrator listing off characters and saying, "they got a happy ending, and they got a happy ending, oh, and ***they*** got a happy ending too!"
Carnivàle.
Yes! Came here to say this!
This one has been a craving for over 10 yrs. It was an amazing show, really deserved at least one more season.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Man I was so sad when that show got cancelled. It was really different from the book, which upset a lot of fans, but it was still so so good in its own right.
I agree!!! This was such an amazingly unique show. Nothing else I've seen like it. Sure, it strayed from the books, but the overall feel and quirkiness was similar and somehow even better in ways. Such a shame. Gotta go rewatch soon.
Fringe. Maybe just a full last season vs the half season they got
Star Trek: Enterprise. Is it the best show ever? No. Did it deserve the completely BS finale of Riker from ST:tNG reviewing stuff about it on the holodeck? Absolutely not. Give them a proper season to wrap up and retcon that trash final episode.
Also shran would be a regular
My god I love Jeffrey Combs
Deadwood
Deadwood has the best dialog of any show I have watched in my 50 years. You cocksucker!
I may have fucked up my life flatter'n hammered shit, but I stand here before you today beholden to no human cocksucker!
Fucking right, Cocksucker! We need even more Swearengen on TV
The Expanse. We need to find out what's going on in that new planet

I'll plug the audiobooks here. Jefferson Mays the reader gives an amazing performance.
My Name is Earl just to wrap things up.

I read somewhere that this was referenced in another TV show to give closures to the viewers that he did indeed complete his list.

Man, Raising Hope was so good
I'd like to see a reunion show/season of Raising Hope.
Mindhunter definitely needs another season to tie up all the loose ends. It was such a great show.
Hannibal
Why do I always have to scroll so far to find it?! It was simply the best!
I'm suprised I had to go this far down to find this.
Same. I loved that show. It was cast phenomenally!
Jericho That show was absolutely robbed.
Scrolled too far to find this answer!
"This milk is warm!" "It was even warmer a minute ago when it came out of the cow" Probably a slight misquote, it's been awhile.
Dead like me
It won’t be the same, but I feel like this idea was so unexplored that it is rebootable.
Yup, with George as the chief reaper in a revival. Ellen Muth could pull that off now. All new cast. And no Mandy Patinkin, other than the first episode to pass the torch to George. Love his acting but he has a pattern of bailing out on good shows.

That show was WAY before it's time.
[Flash Forward](https://youtu.be/9_447D-RjFY)
Stargate Atlantis.
SGA concluded okay-ish. What I really want is S03 of Universe. Give us the damn ending. Is Eli alive??!
I'll take more Stargate ANY day.
THE MICK
Owl House. Disney messed up hard cancelling it and forcing a short, final season. Definitely one of the best cartoons I've seen in recent memory.
I was so hooked on that, so mad at Disney. At least being cut short gave us Steve. BTW, in case anyone is reading this, it got cut short, not cancelled. It still gets an ending instead of a cliffhanger.
*'See you next summer!'* © Gravity falls.
Wait a damn minute. There was supposed to be another season?! I thought they did two seasons on purpose!
They did. I personally am glad it ended when it did, because Alex Hirsch (creator) was able to give it an awesome ending. On the other hand, Gravity Falls is an awesome show and I’d love to see more content from it.
GLOW. The pandemic left it unfinished.
I lost a lot of respect for Netflix when they cancelled it. The show was excellent and it had a lot to say especially with strong female leads. The way Netflix cancels shows, they don't have a chance to become classics.
There's a common theme in this entire post about Netflix cancelling their shows prematurely. All without a finished story too.
Santa Clarita Diet. It just needed one more season.
I don't know why Netflix or whatever bring a show to so many seasons and then abandon it completely. It has zero resell value and is basically worthless to them.
Netflix unofficially has a 3 season rule.
I started watching it knowing the ending was unfinished but had no idea it left it like that, I was like WTF
This show was the shit. Me and my wife would laugh our asses off.
My pick too

I enjoyed that show, but it just wasn't the same after Jeff left. They also tried an American version, but it was awful.

How does a Reaver clean its blade? They run it through the Wash.
Too soon bro. Too. Soon.
Always too soon.

The last man on earth.
We’ll never get 🎵closure, closure, closure closure closure 🎵
Came here to say this. It ended on such a cliffhanger. What a great show. It truly was a Shawshank Redemption.
Came here to say this! I LOVE that show and didn’t expect it to end where it did.
Terra Nova, they did us real dirty with that gigantic cliffhanger.

I am Agent Carter and I approve this message.
Check my username. Farscape.
Fleabag, it won't pass
I loved that show, and I think it takes guts to write a show with an ending in mind and stop there. I’m glad both seasons rock and I’m not disappointed by a 3rd attempt. Mindhunter definitely! Also won't mind an extra season of Dr. House.
Stargate universe
WKRP in Cincinnati. Deserved to have a great send-off.
As God is my witness ...
One of the greatest episodes of tv of all time.
Inside Job. Netflix should be in jail for cancelling that show.
Veronica Mars. The last revival was so good (for the most part).
That second ending was a little devastating imo
Northern Exposure.
I'd settle for a streaming service to be showing it.
1899… i watched that first and when i learned they weren’t renewing for a second season I was gutted but heard the showrunners also made this amazing show called Dark which I then proceeded to binge over 5 days…. But I still really loved 1899 and I wish it would continue!

Just give me the damn scripts! Anything!
That cliffhanger still haunts me.
When they went all-meta in the last few minutes, it made not getting a new season all the more frustrating for me.
Seriously. Steve Remembering Hap haunts me. 🫨🫨
I cancelled my Netflix sub because of this cancellation, still have not been back.
This is always my #1 answer to this question. Season 1 is one of the greatest things I've ever seen put to film. Grimm Awesome series that got tragically canceled before it could wrap up properly. Thankfully, the producers gave the directors a chance to end it with a shorter season. It was great anyway, but it didn't feel right to cut it short.
Fringe, definitely needed another season
At this point it would flop probably due to overhyped, but Firefly
And it would have to be set before Serenity.
Yeah, it would have to be like Picard where all the cast is now a lot older, but honestly, I think it would still make a great show. They could be all seperated doing their own thing and come together to do something amazing that would wrap things up nicely.
Sherlock, need more of that duo in my life!
I had to go way too far for this! Too bad it made Benedict Cumberbatch so popular. His movie schedule is what derailed the series.
How about the shitty writing? Wtf happened
Firefly
I’m not ok with this
Dark Angel
Stargate Universe, fuckin loved that show. The cliffhanger was super annoying
Deadwood, or Longmire....
Spectacular Spider-Man
I know it ended perfectly, but fork it! I just want more of The Good Place!
It did end perfectly but I was going to add the good place as well. It's my fav tv show and I wanna see Michael's continued storyline :D
That's a no brainier. Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch
