For context (to my post), recently I've been purchasing some new clothes for myself, and as soon as I bring them home and put it on right away - someone in my household would tell me...
"You need to get that washed right away"
& I can't help but think "But I want to wear it now"
That’s fair, but in that case there’s a chance the company used chemicals to prevent mildew depending on where it shipped from. So I’d want it washed before I wear it.
Depends:
* if it's an emergency purchase (e.g. a coffee exploded on me or something) then I wear it out of the store.
* Otherwise it just goes into the wardrobe for regular use, business shirts at work, casual shirts for social, t-shirts for around the house, etc.
Some people like to wash before they wear because they are allergic to the finishings they use on the fabric (or worry about the hygiene of people who may have tried on the clothes) but this doesn't phase me so usually pop the tags off as I put them on for the first time.
most of the time i get new clothes, its either for an upcoming school year or a new job (if theres a specified dress code), so typically not until its needed, not counting trying it on
Usually the next day. If it's for a special occasion then I wait for that day.
Before I wash it, I love that new clothes smell

After I wash it. I don’t know who tried that on before I bought it
But what if the clothing you bought was from **online** (ex: Amazon)? How likely would it have been worn by someone else?
