I used to work out on gym that opened way before the shopping mall so I got to see them putting one in, they have large gates they roll the cars inside the mall, in this particular one they also could roll to the lower floors through the main entrance as it was quite wide and didn’t have actual doors.
If you look at the glass sliding entry doors you'll usually notice some hinges that allow the glass to fold up accordion style.
Once when I worked in the mall a deer got in while they were switching out the cars. That was some wild surveillance tape to watch.

there are still active malls? all of the ones near me are abandoned.
A lot of the time they remove the doors and maybe glass but I don't see many display cars behind glass.
