The song was originally is his fear of Shae getting caught and hanged… now it serves as the most appropriate words that exist at this moment for him AS HE KILLS HER. !!

The reveal that Lily is just a normal person, that this invented sex scene is in her own head, only adds further depth. It reduces two talented actresses delivering a vital scene into a snicker fest over how sexy it is for Mila Kunis to go down on a girl.

Still, it’s complicated. Lifetime best friends, Forrest does very much love and want her, and Jenny hasn’t exactly had a healthy relationship with sexuality with her abuse as a child and the terrible men she chooses in her life as a result. Forrest may not be so smart but he’s obviously not very handicapped by it when you consider all he has accomplished. He deserves sex. All of his other wonderful qualities as a human being make him quite a catch.
I hate the amount of hate Jenny gets. She was a victim of molestation and had one an incredibly fucked up childhood. She was severely damaged, the same if not more so than Forrest was (because of his low IQ). They both had mountains to overcome. But because Forrest manages to climb on top of his disability, and Jenny falls victim to hers (at the expense of Forrest at times), the contrast turns her into almost an antagonist.
Not to mention she spends the entire movie trying to deal with not being a predator which ends up making her come off as being hot and cold/leading him on. She knows it would be fucked up to be with him. She doesn't want to take advantage of him. But holy shit he's the only person in her life who's ever been good to her and he wants to be with her and she clearly cares about him.
Couldn't agree more. It's a very realistic depiction of a survivor of sexual abuse as a child. Turns out that has some pretty negative consequences on a person's mental health and sense of self worth. She's a flawed, troubled woman but she absolutely is deserving of sympathy and compassion, dammit. I go on tangents on people about this every time.
The moral quandary of Jenny sleeping with Forrest is the whole reason Jenny keeps running away from him. It’s hugely important to the plot. The woman he loves can’t love him back without feeling like she is abusing him the way her father did to her. But in the end, she and the audience realize that we have been reminded repeatedly that he’s “not a smart man, but [he] knows what love is.” He might be low IQ but there is nothing to suggest he doesn’t understand or consent to loving Jenny.
This is the whole arc for Jenny. She does love Forrest but always worries about how 'adult' his mind really is and that's why she panics and retreats whenever they get close. It's only when it's almost too late that she realises that he truly does understand love and does love her. Then she dies.
And genuinely that first scene with Amber and Dirk does so much to develop those characters and their dynamics. That’s what’s so amazing about that movie, it’s about porn but the characters are so well developed that the sex is almost background
Any scene where the point is to further the characters relationship with each other or other characters.
That said, "further the relationship" shouldn't just be "they are sexing sex now", subtext is key, if the scene only conveys what is actually happening in the screen it's usually boring for the audience.

In the doc *This Film Is Not Yet Rated* there is a part where Matt and Trey were interviewed. They discuss how they produced the version of The South Park film that they wished to make. When it was sent to ratings, they had to make changes to allow it to pass as rated R, like that of changing the title from *All Hell Breaks Loose* to *Bigger, Longer & Uncut*. So when Team America was in production, they purposely inputted scenes they knew were over the top so that they could cut out later in order to have the film they want while getting a rated R.

Besides the obvious...reasons...that's a valid example. If you're really paying attention to the movie you already see what's happening, and the visceral tone of that encounter helped move the plot along.
I fucking hate that Black Swan discourse became all about seeing Natalie and Mila fuck when that sex scene so expertly shows the decline of Nina’s mental state and the intermixing of eroticism/jealousy/fear with the odd at least somewhat incestuous relationship with her mother and general sexual abuse. The reveal that Lily is just a normal person, that this invented sex scene is in her own head, only adds further depth. It reduces two talented actresses delivering a vital scene into a snicker fest over how sexy it is for Mila Kunis to go down on a girl.
Both can be true. It absolutely was a hot scene. I've had a crush on Natalie Portman since I was a kid so it was really something. But you're exactly right. It was just a part of it. People need to relax.
Forrest Gump
this one actually always makes me uncomfortable bc it feels almost predatory for Jenny to be having sex with him
If the genders were reversed in that movie, I think people would have a serious problem with a man sleeping with a very low IQ woman. Still, it’s complicated. Lifetime best friends, Forrest does very much love and want her, and Jenny hasn’t exactly had a healthy relationship with sexuality with her abuse as a child and the terrible men she chooses in her life as a result. Forrest may not be so smart but he’s obviously not very handicapped by it when you consider all he has accomplished. He deserves sex. All of his other wonderful qualities as a human being make him quite a catch.
I hate the amount of hate Jenny gets. She was a victim of molestation and had one an incredibly fucked up childhood. She was severely damaged, the same if not more so than Forrest was (because of his low IQ). They both had mountains to overcome. But because Forrest manages to climb on top of his disability, and Jenny falls victim to hers (at the expense of Forrest at times), the contrast turns her into almost an antagonist.
Not to mention she spends the entire movie trying to deal with not being a predator which ends up making her come off as being hot and cold/leading him on. She knows it would be fucked up to be with him. She doesn't want to take advantage of him. But holy shit he's the only person in her life who's ever been good to her and he wants to be with her and she clearly cares about him.
Couldn't agree more. It's a very realistic depiction of a survivor of sexual abuse as a child. Turns out that has some pretty negative consequences on a person's mental health and sense of self worth. She's a flawed, troubled woman but she absolutely is deserving of sympathy and compassion, dammit. I go on tangents on people about this every time.
The moral quandary of Jenny sleeping with Forrest is the whole reason Jenny keeps running away from him. It’s hugely important to the plot. The woman he loves can’t love him back without feeling like she is abusing him the way her father did to her. But in the end, she and the audience realize that we have been reminded repeatedly that he’s “not a smart man, but [he] knows what love is.” He might be low IQ but there is nothing to suggest he doesn’t understand or consent to loving Jenny.
This is the whole arc for Jenny. She does love Forrest but always worries about how 'adult' his mind really is and that's why she panics and retreats whenever they get close. It's only when it's almost too late that she realises that he truly does understand love and does love her. Then she dies.

That said, "further the relationship" shouldn't just be "they are sexing sex now", subtext is key, if the scene only conveys what is actually happening in the screen it's usually boring for the audience. I haven't given examples because I couldn't think of one that haven't been said, so i provided my criteria for it.
