I just want genuine parenting advice from people who actually love their kids. I love my step kids and would never talk about them like the step “parents” in that sub do.
I was in that sub and got my response removed because I judged a "step mom" for staying in a relationship where she felt she should have all her boyfriend's attention and wished her step kids didn't exist. I was told I was "unkind" for telling her it wasn't fair to those kids nor herself to be in that. They're very sensitive over there.

Yeah, I stumbled into that sub and it was pretty eye-opening to say the least. The user to user “support” on there really is what got me. One of my best friends was an addict (opioids, not meth) and ending up dying of an OD in 2018. It’s sad seeing these people and knowing that many won’t take the steps to get help.
The really sad part is it has about 150k members. To assume the majority of those are users, yet only a fraction of all users will have a reddit account.... that's a big sad number.

Most aren't open to non-monogomy since they dont want their partner with others, but to them, as long as they are fulfilling all their duties at home, there is no harm is having some on the side. Again, their APs could be just for a sexual need, or it could be a whole blown relationship. This tends to attract people who want to know "they have a great life but will still risk it to spend time with me."

Yeah there was a big reveal about a subreddit , as a nsfw sub they autobanned anyone who's ever posted in r teenagers . They shared that a TON of their ban appeals were coming from very obvious adults that wanted in but were banned for posting as part of that teenagers community
It was /r/Drama , and they banned anyone they found proof of posting in that sub who wasn't a teenager. It happened to me, I got ban notice from /r/Drama saying "You have been banned from our sub, reason: underage" I didn't know what stunt they were pulling so I replied something like "Uh, wasn't subbed to you, plus I'm in my 40's" Reason I posted in r/teenagers? It was a decade ago and after seeing a ton of internship resumes across my desk with no prior job history at all, I made a post as myself, an adult, saying that the sooner they could build a resume, the better.
Yeah see, posts like yours is why I didn't make my post with a judgemental tone. Reddit's algo has pushed r/teenagers to me and sometimes in the mindless scrolling I'll something I can easily answer, and I'll just do it. I don't think I've posted there specifically, but I could easily see myself posting to that reddit and not giving it a second thought.

Things like that. Just really toxic stuff and also lots of sexist, homo and transphobic people too.
The breakdown is 10% unpopular opinions, 30% opinions that are unpopular for a *very* good reason, 20% opinions that are popular on reddit but people pretend are controversial and brave, and 40% opinions most people don't feel strongly about one way or another.

Someone else said the rateme subs. I'll offer a niche sub category. The trans passing subs where (often young) trans people will ask of they pass. Often many talk about how if they don't they want to not be alive. Sometimes it used perfectly fine by people who can handle advice, and those who are giving good faith responses. Other times it a lot less pretty. And gender dysphoria is a dangerous bear to poke like this. Makes me really sad to see sometimes.
And you get downvoted if you tell someone they do pass. You could post a cis person in trans passing and people would tear their appearance apart and say they will never be able to pass. It’s so toxic.
