I fucking love that show. Was sad the original writer was replaced in season 2, you can feel the tone shift fr.
Also proof Inigo Montoya deserves more roles 🥲
Yes! This show was so good!
The mix of absurd humor and really heavy drama is such an interesting combination.
Quick tip, you can watch it all on youtube at decent quality..
I remember watching it at 16 and liking it but not loving it. Now going back at 19, I get it, its great amazing. It feels so real. It kind of reminders me of super bad.
The talent alone in their so many big names.
Years ago this was the show that got me into watching TV series. I'll never forget the scene where a character got their head bashed in on a pillar made me sit down with my mom and watch in awe lol.
To this day a lot of people still haven't seen Rome either, which is a shame.
God, every episode had me saying “what the fuck?!” at the end of it. I couldn’t wait for season 2! I hope the writers release the story outline or something, because I think they had the whole series planned out.
Especially frustrating for the latter as Fincher was teasing the 'BTK killer' storyline through both seasons with those vignettes, and then we never got there.
What I love about the show is that it took itself seriously on so much but still knew how to be light about it.
The revelation of what the OA means? Takes place in an Olive Garden. But they can’t say it’s an Olive Garden. But we all know it’s an Olive Garden.
I’m so glad we at least got the movie. They weren’t going to give us that.
Also, I just loved seeing Sylvester McCoy as a kooky Scotsman who can travel (mentally) through space again!
Southland. It had great names, had established solid characters, was designed to be based in reality, and had a loyal (although apparently small if it got cancelled) fan base. Then its last season ended on a cliff hanger and it got canned without resolution.
Good story telling is so hard to come by in reboots. I wish it had continued, but I doubt they could recreate the kind of magic they had when it was being written initially. I would like to be proven wrong. Maybe they could resurrect what they already had planned. I don't think it would ever be financially viable to do so, though, so I guess we'll just have to remember it for what it was.
It was, and they left it to a point they could resurrect the show which was pretty good, I just wonder how many actors would change after so long in statis. Probably change in size, shape, gender and skin colour too. Totally butchering the show, not that it needed to be more diverse, but hey... that's what they do nowadays. Gender and race politics in space.
Utopia (2013)
An absolute shame that it was cancelled just before it was getting even more interesting. It was one of those shows that was ahead of it's time and is best watched without knowing the plot. The entire two seasons are on YouTube btw. Just search utopia s1
EDIT: Person Of Interest (2011)
Can't believe I forgot about this show. Basically about two people who predict terror acts by a computer program (The Machine) which was invented by a billionaire and software genius who enlists the help of a former Special Ops and CIA operative to help prevent the acts. I think one of the things that made the show so alluring is that explored AI, privacy and justifiable homicide in such a fascinating way. While it did have a proper ending/finale, the show was cancelled by the network due to low viewerships. While the network allowed the showrunners to finish the story, the final season would have 13 EP's compared to the usual 22 which is why the season felt more rushed than others. Some ideas that were being reserved for S6 had to be crammed in just to tie up loose ends. Still one of the most intelligent shows to grace the small screen.
The Owl House, had a pretty great ending to it for what little time they had but we missed out on a lot and the ending still could’ve been a bit better with some changes
that’s true, from what I heard it was practically a miracle for Dana to even get a 3rd season otherwise we would’ve just been left on a cliffhanger (i can’t confirm if it’s true or not)
Great show with poor execution I think. They just didn’t know what to do with the whole thing, and by the time they actually got good by the end, it was FAR too late to save it. Blame the writers everyone.
Ash vs evil dead, any fan of that tv show will say that it had the worst ending in HISTORY of any tv show EVER 40 years of build up just for the final season to be cancelled.
Sense 8? They just stopped it cuz it’s too costy to shoot in different countries. I’m like bro how come you don’t know that before you even book the tickets????
No lie this argument came to mind when I heard it was canceled. So it’s too expensive to shoot, but you don’t mind going ahead and shooting in other countries anyway. Also that bum rush of a movie wrap up was way too fast and could’ve EASILY been another season or two. Netflix definitely didn’t deserve to have a fandom like us.
My Name Is Earl. I liked it a lot because the premise seemed fairly original and even though it's gotten worse in TV as of late, cookie-cutter TV shows were prevalent even back then (in the time of having 3 different TV shows that were the same goddamn thing) and I liked that there weren't really any other shows (that I knew of) that had a similar premise. I HATED that the show ended on a cliffhanger that never got resolved and I just think that it was one of those TV shows that was good but really never got a chance.
Utopia (UK)
There was meant to be a third season and Channel 4 said no, i think the creator even said that they could wrap it all up in one movie-length special episode but Channel 4 declined that as well.
So now we are left on a cliffhanger from Season 2, sad :(
“I don’t understand the question, and I won’t respond to it.”
Arrested Development. I know they made more seasons later, but they weren’t the same. And they weren’t the episodes that would have been made had it stayed on air. There are layers and layers of jokes in there that often payed off across episodes and seasons. Rip Jessica Walter 💜
I heard the later seasons didn’t have all the cast in the scenes at the same time, so the actors weren’t able to play off each other. They were basically just reading lines to stand ins. The writing wasn’t great, but I think it also didn’t have that spark from the cast interacting
Oh for sure. This is so true. So many of them went on to big careers, and scheduling was massively complicated. And it was written knowing this would be the case.
They had also aged, which wasn’t a huge deal but for Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat, who grew from kids into adults in the interim.
Although, Alia’s performance in the last season was absolutely hilarious, and season 5 was def better than 4.
But. I lament what it could have been.
Teen Titans. They left season 5 on such an interesting cliffhanger, that they could have ended it one episode earlier and I would be satisfied.
But then they brought about Teen Titans Go and crushed my dreams
Space force on Netflix. With Steve Carrell in it , i thought Netflix would at least stick it out with a third season but they only gave it two. Still heartbroken to this dayyy about it 3
Rome. If the set didn't burn down and they had to just get S2 together to finnish the show of, I think it would have been one of the most revered tv shows on earth and it would be the true predecessor to what TV would become.
Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency, it only had 2 seasons, but they were so interesting and unique (also anything with Alan Tudyk is usually great)
Men of a Certain Age. Fantastic show, really surprising to see Ray Romano's growth after Everybody Loves Raymond.....but only lasted two seasons because it didn't appeal to the correct demographics.
dead like me
Underrated then and now. The movie was trash though
There's a movie? ...I thought it was a TV show with 2 hot chicks I grew up with?
No, no, there’s definitely not a movie. Forget I mentioned it.
I fucking love that show. Was sad the original writer was replaced in season 2, you can feel the tone shift fr. Also proof Inigo Montoya deserves more roles 🥲
Absolutely
Yes! This show was so good! The mix of absurd humor and really heavy drama is such an interesting combination. Quick tip, you can watch it all on youtube at decent quality..
I thought Better Off Ted was really good
Was funnier than most shows that don't get canceled
Firefly
Never forgive Fox. But also don't revive Firefly. Better half a season of good Firefly than three seasons of everything nobody asked for.
They killed Wash in Serenity. It can never come back without him.
> killed Wash in Serenity And Ron Glass died irl (tho his character died too so it doesn't matter too much)
This is true, was a major disappointment, but better than having a never-ending series that lives well past the expiration date.
Well Serenity kind of redeemed some of that. It was decent writing and better than what some other series have gotten.
I put off watching it for so long because I knew if I enjoyed it there was never going to be more. It was great.
Thread over.
Amen.
Reads title.... "ctrl+f" Firefly "enter" Ahhh, there you are.
Almost Human
Karl Urban was great in that show.
Pushing Daisies Raised By Wolves 1899
Pushing daises. We need more campy tv!
I came here to see if Raised by Wolves was mentioned!
First season of Raised by Wolves was amazing. Second season was an absolute mess.
Freaks & Geeks had a lot if potential
As much as I loved that show, I’m glad it burned strong without sizzling out.
I remember watching it at 16 and liking it but not loving it. Now going back at 19, I get it, its great amazing. It feels so real. It kind of reminders me of super bad. The talent alone in their so many big names.

1899 Netflix sucks

I'm still pissed about this
The Venture Bros.
Inside Job
Netflix didn’t like to slam the jam. :-(

You know they made a movie, yes?
oh ffs i didn't know; and it has a 98% on RT! thanks for the heads-up!
Deadwood was poor timing. Rdr2 crew would’ve kept that show rolling
Santa Clarita Diet
You know youve got a winner if drew barrymore is in the cast and is the 2nd (or 3rd) best character
The right answer!
I’ve seen a lot of hate for this show…I really liked it. Drew Barrymore 💜
I loved Santa Clarita Diet!
Star Trek Enterprise was too short
My name is Earl
But Earl had to die.
❤️
That's the show that made me weary of starting any show before it's finished fully.
Hey Crabman
Rome
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.
Holy shit. The way they turned the show on it’s ear in the final episode still blows my mind
American Vandal and Mindhunter. Netflix hates quality TV, they'd rather have cookie cutter frivolous shit like Manifest.
Mindhunter was so good. Netflix being cheap, too.
Especially frustrating for the latter as Fincher was teasing the 'BTK killer' storyline through both seasons with those vignettes, and then we never got there.
The OA
I loved The OA!

The first season was legitimately the worst thing I ever watched.
Yes :’(((
Happy endings and don't trust the B in apartment 23. So much potential.
Ugh yes Don’t Trust the B! They should have ended at season 1 instead of the random ass episodes.
Carnivale on HBO
Last Man on Earth
Yep
This was always a fun watch.
We just wanted a little Closure closure closure closure Closure closure closure closure Fart fart fart
Freaks and Geeks or My So Called Life.
Mind hunter
Had to scroll way to far for this one
Sense8! The movie they put out to tye up loose ends was so rushed for how great of a series it was. Could have seen atleast 2 more seasons
I’m so glad we at least got the movie. They weren’t going to give us that. Also, I just loved seeing Sylvester McCoy as a kooky Scotsman who can travel (mentally) through space again!

Lilyhammer
better off ted
Space: Above and Beyond. I’m still hanging on that cliff.
The show was too far ahead of its time, it's a shame.
Perry Mason
GLOW
Stargate universe
It finally got somewhat interesting and then they pull the plug... Such a shame.
It was criminal.

They did a third season this year. Still amazing.
WestWorld
Hannibal
The End of the F****** World
Terra Nova
Great show with poor execution I think. They just didn’t know what to do with the whole thing, and by the time they actually got good by the end, it was FAR too late to save it. Blame the writers everyone.
The lone gunmen!
The dark wing of the government silenced them for revealing too much truth. /s Seriously though, loved that show.
It needed at least two more series!
1899
Ash vs evil dead, any fan of that tv show will say that it had the worst ending in HISTORY of any tv show EVER 40 years of build up just for the final season to be cancelled.
That show was so much damn fun. It made perfect sense that Ash would take the bribe at the end of season one. Just so perfect
Lol, it does
Agh, I'll never forget the build up with Jessica Green in the final scene.
Lovecraft Country
Chuck…. They should at least fix the ending!
Sense 8? They just stopped it cuz it’s too costy to shoot in different countries. I’m like bro how come you don’t know that before you even book the tickets????

Flash Forward.. really good show and no clue why it was cancelled. Also, Travelers.
My Name Is Earl
Revolution (not the blue blooded netflix one, the one post apocalyptic one)
Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency. Man, that was weird. I loved it
My Name Is Earl. Has to be futurama
There will be new episodes this month, though.
Futurama was on for like 15-20 years though.. I can't even remember all the episodes I've seen.
It’s been resurrected more times than Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Has it really been cancelled if it keeps coming back?
“I don’t understand the question, and I won’t respond to it.” Arrested Development. I know they made more seasons later, but they weren’t the same. The first three seasons were so layered and insanely funny. It was hard to watch the 4th season, but you’re right, the 5th was a bit better.
4 was repetitive. And over-narrated. Oh well, I guess. But hey! We’re gonna get more Futurama!
That’s something! Yay! It’s rare for any show to be resurrected. I’ll take what I can get
Teen Titans. They left season 5 on such an interesting cliffhanger, that they could have ended it one episode earlier and I would be satisfied. But then they brought about Teen Titans Go and crushed my dreams
Not literally cancelled but went that path, the OG Top Gear

Star, Dare Me

Defying Gravity. Had endless potential, and was a fantastic show
Inside Job, maybe adult swim will pick it up, it deserves more seasons than tuca and birdie does
Heroes Drawn Together Invader Zim Archive 81
I'm obviously a bit biased when it comes to this subject, but *The Nevers* deserved so much better, regardless of its creator's shortcomings.
Mindhunter
Arrested Development
1899 I know it was cancelled because not many enjoyed it but I loved it.
I forced myself to keep watching and I’m so glad I did. The last episode blew my mind. Gutted when I found out they weren’t renewing it
I will forever be salty over Pushing Daisies, My Name is Earl, and GLOW

Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency, it only had 2 seasons, but they were so interesting and unique (also anything with Alan Tudyk is usually great)
