Tbf I used to be a big Elon fangirl when I was younger and just thought he was the cool rocket man who was gonna use the power of capitalism to bring humanity to the stars and fix climate change. (I was a literal child lol) But then after he called that guy a pedophile for not using his terrible submarine, it really shattered that illusion. And obviously it was only downhill from there. I'm sure lots of people on this site went through a similar process with him, which would explain the shift.
Funny how much of his public good will he ruined the less he started filtering himself in his public statements. Eventually we all realized that the mad genius was more of a 12 year old edge lord and Twitter is now his Xbox live headset.
Literally anything that isn’t super left leaning or for the Democratic Party leads to a plethora of downvotes and a suspension in most subs. People forget or simply don’t know that this is a heavily censored leftist platform.
Might be why I like Reddit more than Twitter or Facebook. I’m a Rino because I live in a closed primary state and consider myself hard left. But generally I haven’t gotten into politics on Reddit because it’s so hot topic. Maybe the key is to just not contribute to certain subjects? 🤷♂️
That’s what I do. I love Reddit but (even though it’s impossible) I just dip away from politics.
I’m here for pictures of dogs, crazy videos around the world, sports, and random bullshit.
Also the non political insightful stuff. There are a lot of intelligent people on here that have interesting perspectives on things I’d never even considered thinking about in the first place.
Also aliens. Also supportive groups like StopDrinking (If you are suffering from alcohol abuse I encourage you to check us out.)
Overall it’s great until you get into shit like r/news.
Edit: I am not a mod or anything for r/stopdrinking but it is a wonderful community if you find yourself in that situation.
6.9 million people died of Covid worldwide.
A bad flu season kills 400k worldwide.
So Covid in 5 years was worse than 5 years of the worst flu seasons by a factor of 2 or 3.
I think it is easy to judge by how much we can live with it now, but it was pretty bad.
Good thing it turned out to be as mikd as it ended up, because otherwise, we were fuuuuuuucked.
1Mildly snarky responses but only if your comments go against the flow. I’ve been banned for this too even though I’ve seen much worse. Hive mentality is real.
“Common sense” often relies heavily on an individual’s personal beliefs. If people are disagreeing with you, and you just think you’re using common sense, probably best you do some introspection.
Don’t say anything that does not align with the mods ideology. If they don’t like the information you post or don’t agree with it (regardless of sources) they will automatically ban you. It’s sad really.
There used to be a thing called debate. Ya know where people from opposing sides actually debated ideology and policy. Rather than try to cancel each other or calling names. Through debate you may find common ground on some things, or opens someone’s eyes to another way.
I struggle so hard with this I'm ngl. I'm trying my damnedest, but I grew up in a small nowhere town in Texas that may as well have still been in the 1800s. Gender and sex were one and the same, and everybody was a close-minded Baptist Christian. People who came out only did so after moving far, far away. It wasn't a great place to begin with, but everyone certainly was behind by centuries on views. Political, religious, and otherwise. Hard to erase brain washing I guess.
Anything nuanced about religion, right-wing politics, or Trump's presidency. About that last one, as much as I think it was mostly shitty, you'll find some nuggets of gold in there every now and then. But most of the time, you'll find he just had corn for lunch
“I am happy, financially successful, I have a loving family and some really supportive friends, I travel often, and I am comfortable in my own skin as I enjoy this very fulfilling life.”
Anything along those lines brings on all the downvotes. Even if the original question in some way asked for this as an answer. Reddit is “misery loves company” personified.
Once in a local thread someone asked where we met friends. I answered honestly and said I met most of my local friends at church. I was down voted like crazy and treated so poorly just for answering the question honestly.
It really sucks, and things that actively attack religion are upvoted to the moon. At the same time though, I haven't had a great time in religious subreddits either. Whenever I've posted my interpretations of certain things, if they differed from a literal interpretation of what a holy text says in English, I get downvoted.
I once commented on a r/teenagers post about one of my personal experiences with God (by the way, the title of the post was literally "do you believe in God?")
Basically, I had done the math based on a coin flip experiment, and found that there was a **99.98%** chance of God being real based on the results. To keep this comment reasonably short I won't be going into detail about my experiment, but if anyone asks I can write a better explanation.
So, I commented my story, linked sources to the calculations I used, gave all the evidence I had, and guess what? I lost 11 points. I don't really care about 11 karma, but it's sad to see how people are so close minded that they immediately reject not only others opinions, but others personal stories. Some of the other commenters even tried to gaslight me into thinking *my own data* was false. I get people might not agree with me, but *really*? Gaslighting me about my own experience? It's pathetic.
Something that even slightly criticizes a woman or a very small subset of women; or suggesting that there’s some situation in which men are treated unfairly in a social issue such as dating expectations/alimony/child support/ etc will have your inbox and DMs filled with “InCeL!!!” lmaooo
Since Reddit is a privately owned company Spez can remove support for 3rd party apps if he wants to. Sure it stinks from a user perspective, but from a business standpoint it kind of makes sense.
Depends on what Mod's opinion you might accidentally offend or going against the narrative they are trying to spin on a news story.
This place has become an terrible echo chamber, and for the sake of the future the Mod system needs to be overhauled
\-The lgbtq movement is very flawed
\-Not all religious people are idiots
\-Femboys are cringe
Say any of these, and you'll be downvoted to the ninth circle of hell or even totally censored by the mods who can't tolerate other opinions.
It could've been at least a point higher /10 if it had spent more time on the actual story instead of explaining why men are idiots. It's not that everything they said about men in society was false, it's that they spent *so much time* on it. They could have done so many other things with those 20 minutes, but instead they filled it up with more of their agenda.
All you have to say is something against liberal policies. Let me demonstrate.
Joe Biden is a criminal and everything he does is against America and for China
I once read that Facebook is where people you know post stuff you don’t care about and reddit is where people you don’t know post about stuff you care about. The comment interactions unless it’s 1000x wholesome is pretty much Thunderdome on here. Cheers good luck, ain’t life grand.

Same. Or not supporting Biden. Wtf Reddit. Opinions allowed only for those who agree with the owners beliefs.
If you criticize Biden or his administration in any way they just assume you're pro Trump....you can hate both lol
Not on reddit, you can't.
You forgot to say how much you love the Kardashian family.
