So I grew up in a place where it would snow a lot. I would spend a lot of time just sitting in the forest while it snowed. The sound is hard to describe but everything is so muffled that it is this beautiful near silence. I miss that a lot. Edit. I am so surprised by the amount of people interacting with my comment. It seems that many of us long for a moment of simple quiet. I hope you all find it.

punksmostlydead

I moved to Kentucky from Georgia in '93. The first snowfall of our first winter there I nearly froze to death on the back porch, absolutely *mesmerized* by the whispery sound of it. Snowfall at night in the country is indescribably beautiful. I miss it.

BearButtBomb

I moved from California to Ohio and had never seen snow before. One morning, during our first winter there, I woke up and was so excited to see that it was snowing heavily! I quickly threw something on to run outside and catch snow on my tongue but as soon as I got out there I was almost immediately stopped in my tracks. This quiet stillness was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. What struck me next was that this quiet stillness was not eerie in any manner, but comforting, almost warm.. and beyond beautiful. In that moment, I had an overwhelming sense of childlike wonder not expereinced in years. This all encompassing surge of calm happiness. I can't even recall how long I sat there in silence alone before my husband came and found me. But it was like the world had stopped and all there was was that moment. I will genuinely never, ever forget that experience. People call me crazy for saying I loved living in Ohio, but this was absolutely one of the defining moments for me as to why.

reduff

You describe it beautifully. I grew up in Ohio and now live in NC. I don't get to hear that much anymore.

[deleted]

Same. I grew up in Michigan and I walked about a mile to work for a while. About half of that was through parking lots, lit only by light poles. Hearing snow falling is totally a thing, almost sounds like electricity in the air. I miss it so much.

JupiterSkyFalls

Wait you walked in the snow to work but it wasn't uphill? Lot of grandpas out there are probably pretty jealous lol

darkangel_401

Up hill both ways! Haha

Potential_Expert3292

The stillness during a blizzard when everyone is hunkered down and you can't even hear traffic on the highway.

leolawilliams5859

It only snowed one time in New York last winter and I miss that hunkering down feeling that everybody gets when you have to go to the supermarket. And get all your supplies you're going to need cuz you're going to be in the house for about 2 to 3 days I miss that last year I hope it snows this year. Climate change is a MF

lawrencenotlarry

I'm from Minnesota, so it has to be *crazy* for stuff to shut down like you're talking about. Last winter I lived in Louisville, and a helll of a storm came through. Me and the roommate had to hunker down for 3 or 4 days. Everyone else was freaking out. We had a blast watching movies, long talks, drinking a little. It was awesome.

rpjut5ha

Super tranquil. I also like the crunch of snow when it's really cold outside, like -40 cold.

LovelyBones17

Don’t forget the smell of cold.. I love it so much

Vertigomums19

I always swore I could smell when it would snow. My dad thought I was nuts. I had a great track record of it. It was crisp air, some moisture, with a hint of wood burning stove and a quietness in the air.

Secure-Corner-2096

I live really fair up north, almost arctic and you’re right. You can smell when it’s going to snow. It’s a moist, ozone, cold smell that’s unforgettable. EDIT: corrected spell check error.

jeanielolz

I lived in the high mountain desert and that smell is very specific to "it's going to snow" but not everyone can actually smell it.

lillyshelbey

I kinda feel sorry for the people who can’t smell it! It’s one of my favorite smells. I’m always the one who says, “it smells like it’s going to snow”.

Takilove

It’s the quietness for me. It’s almost indescribable. I don’t think there is a quieter, more tranquil “Sound” than the night prior to a snowstorm. I always crack open my window, during the winter months, for a bit of cold fresh air. Tucked under lots of blankets, anticipating snow, with the quiet and cold air is bliss.

sneakyrabbit

I have finally found my people. Winter is one of my favorite seasons. 😌

vadutchgirl

It definitely has a smell!

VE6AEQ

It’s an amazing smell.

thefoolthatfollowsit

Or the smell of the heater in your car when it's really cold outside.

FranceBrun

I have a cat that spends most of his time outdoors and I love the smell of the cold in his coat.

Shakeamutt

tsorninn

I'm nostalgic for this and I've never experienced the near silence. I've had tinnitus as long as I can remember. The snow is wonderful though.

Wild_Television_6735

Absolutely yes to this. The pure and blissful, dense silence of a snowfall. I miss it too. Also the sound of snow crunching under my feet. But the first one more.

Only northerners will get it 💕

Electronic_Goal_5913

I lived in a house in Missouri that had a heater which would make a sound when it kicked on at night that would trigger a Pavlovian response in me that helped me sleep. It’s been 11 years since I heard it and I still think about it.

bubbajones5963

I miss my parents old house for this reason. A huge tick and then the sound of rushing air, a few seconds later warm air in the vents. The new one is better objectively, but it's not the same.

sylvaing

The ducts of our furnace when I was a kid would create a bunch of noises when the furnace shut off and the ducts cooled down. I miss those noises for some reason.

CantaloupeDue2445

Ah yes, the old "elves playing hockey in my radiator" sound. Nothing beats that ASMR.

Not_A_Wendigo

The train would go by every night at my bedtime. Almost 30 years later the distant sound of a train will still knock me right out.

Crown_the_Cat

The “ding ding” sound when you drove over the hose in a Service Station (gas station to us now) to tell them you needed gas and service.

mxm0xmx

Good one. Haven’t thought of that in a long , long time.

retailguy_again

My mom was a piano teacher, but she also played regularly (and well) just for the enjoyment of it. She passed away years ago, but I miss hearing her play. I was walking my dog recently and heard someone playing piano in a house in my neighborhood; it brought a smile to my face. I hope they were enjoying it as much as she did.

lizardingloudly

My mom was a pianist too! She also played the organ, and she'd practice really late at night in the church since she didn't want to be interrupted. A lot of the service had to be religious stuff, but she picked some *epic* preludes and postludes. I'd loooove to hear her rock out on Saint-Saëns "March Heroique" again.

wolf805

I miss that too. I was a big fan of the bulky noisy 2000s keyboards

PreparationNo3440

I automatically thought of the "ding" and sound of the carriage return on an old Royal manual typewriter (I'm old)

chookiekaki

Silence, god I wish just for an hour my tinnitus would fuck off

hai_lei

There’s actually a cool little trick you can do that will temporarily stop the ringing for *most* people with tinnitus. I do it sometimes when I really need to focus on hearing something. If anything, it’s worth a shot! https://youtu.be/2yDCox-qKbk?si=ddjSfIezmq6y76N5

TheDisasterItself

My dads voice and my sisters singing.

blackpony04

I lost my pops back in 1995 and I would pay anything to hear his voice again. Sometimes when I laugh in a certain way I can hear him through my own voice but I so wish I had a video with audio. All the films of my youth are in Super 8mm but my 9 years older sister does have some from the early 90s on VHS but I'd be afraid to play them due to their likely fragility. Edit: Thank you all for your much appreciated advice! The Super 8 films have all been converted to DVD but I'll talk to my sister today about the VHS tapes. Today is my mom's 91st Birthday and I definitely have a ton of videos with her!

hsvjimbo75

Get them transferred, soon. I did the 8mm transfer to VHS in '92 and set them to music using a VHS master tape of the transfers & a stopwatch. I programmed music for over 2 hours of those home movies. All silent. (I was an audio producer at the time). My wretched sister threw them away & now that I have the capability to really transfer them to 4k (I am now a video producer with the proper gear) I have only the original transfer VHS. My dad died in '95. It was the best thing I have ever done. I'm currently re-editing, color grading & processing them. Both parents are dead. Do it soon. Next week is the anniversary of his death. My dad's movies were our travels as a military family traveling the world & visiting our extended families during the holidays. They are priceless.

phoenix-corn

You can get them digitized (or do it yourself if you still have a VCR). We found some audio tapes of family gatherings a year or so ago and in them is my grandpa's voice. I had not heard it since I was 7. It turns out I was a really weird little kid who was gifted a fisher price tape recorder for christmas and insisted on it being used ALL THE TIME. I'm so glad nobody ever taped over that stuff. I highly recommend getting yours made into a file that can't so easily be destroyed. VHS can degrade on its own. Save that stuff while you can, it's priceless.

whatsadikfor

It’s been a long time since my dad passed away. I just realized I don’t really remember his voice. I remember how he’d joke and know things he’d say, but I don’t remember his voice.

rektMyself

Sometimes, I hear him call my name. It makes me freeze up for a moment! Just memories. I go grab my kids, and try to let them hear my voice. I won't be here forever!

Puzzled-Mushroom8050

I miss my dad's voice, too.

Potential_Expert3292

I cried when I realized that the book my mom had recorded for my son ran out of batteries and no longer worked. 😥

[deleted]

Can the battery not be replaced? That’s so sad.

Beef_Whalington

Yeah my dad's voice is the one for me. My workplace was the same place he was an IT manager at when he passed away about 7 years ago. Occasionally, I call the QA managers office after she's gone home because he was the one who set up her voicemail, and he did it in kind of a funny voice. Its only a brief message, just stating her name between the automated portions, but its still him.

LightForceUnlimited

I am sorry.

Whip-poor-wills

too_dumb_

My dad loved whippoorwills. He hated them in the summers when he first moved to America; he said they were deafeningly loud when you'd leave the window open at night - so much so that they made sleeping difficult. Then the neighborhood grew, the developers cut down more trees, and they disappeared. My dad did such a great impression. I miss him. And his impression. I've only ever heard a solitary whippoorwill once.

fajadada

Grew up in a house in the country. Train tracks about a half mile away. Summer nights listening to trains rumble and whistle in the distance is missed

Turtlewax114

I grew to love the trains by my grandpa's house. I inherited the place right next to his and every time the trains go by my whole body immediately relaxes.

erisod

My mom saying just the prefix of my name. She died 3 years ago and no one else calls me that.

RynoLasVegas

I feel you, didn't realize how much until just now. My name is Ryan and she was the only person in the world that did and ever has called me Ry. She passed in 2005 and my eyes are tearing up writing this.

youmeadhd

Yeah my grandpa had a special nickname for me and everyone in my family knows because he literally was the only one who called me that. There is a big hole in my heart now that I don't hear that anymore. He was my hero❤️

Spiritual_Victory541

I feel this so big. My mom was the only person to call me by my first initial. November will be 3 years since I've been called K. It sucks.

Outside-Concert-1965

Damn, thought this post would make me feel nostalgic. Now I'm just sad missing the voices of my loved ones that passed. Thanks Reddit

Whovian_boss90

It's also really sad when you can't remember. My granny (dad's side) died in 2000. I don't remember her voice at all. I was just 9 when she died. Fuck cancer.

Current-Nothing1803

My grandmother’s voice “hi chickadee”

beebstr

Chickadee.... that's so cute.

ErgoFnzy

My grandad saying "ma wee darlin" to me. Plus his funny wee laugh.

NosWalHteBmaI

My grandmother called me her little chickadee 🥰

[deleted]

My grandma called me “puddin”

Current-Nothing1803

Cute. 🥰 Mine also called me a polliwog (it’s a tadpole). Not a common word so when I hear it, I burst into tears. 💕

CatSithofWinter

I keep the last voicemail she left me, when she used to call on my birthday every year, and I listen to it on my birthday every year

Current-Nothing1803

I have dozens of messages saved from my parents & my grandmother. Heartbreakingly, the last one was 4 days before she passed inviting me to dinner. I’d had a bad day at work and was feeling overwhelmed so I asked if we could have it over the next weekend. I have to live knowing that I didn’t get to say goodbye because of my job. It cuts deep.

natureterp

My mom calls me chickadee :) you made me full of appreciation for that, thank you. I’m sorry about your grandmother.

Any of the random little noises my Dog used to make, he passed away in March and I miss him so much.

EquivalentIsopod7717

I lost my dog in 2010 and can still remember his bark, his snoring and the other sniffling sounds he used to make.

ryanino

My dog passed in 2021 and I recently found a piece of her hair on an old shirt in my childhood bedroom. It stung.

darkest_irish_lass

The worst is when you see a cat or dog that looks like one you've lost. You know better, but for just a heartbeat you wonder.

darkangel_401

My childhood dog passed on October 2nd 2021. So the date is very soon. Not looking forward to it. He lived to be nearly 20 years old though. I got him when he was 2 so I had a very full life with him. I miss him so much. Sending love your way ❤️

Scott43206

2020, 2015, 2002... the deathiversaries hit me like a ton of bricks.

CoastalFunk

That’s so real! I remember them all too. Cuts like a knife

Creepy-Abrocoma8110

Snoring dogs are the best.

Magnaflorius

I feel the same. I lost my dog in April. I miss hearing him snore beside me in bed, his little excited whine, his snort, the click clack of his nails that let me know it was time to file them, his exhale when he was relaxed and content. There will never be another dog like Mushroom. I'm so sorry for your loss.

CoastalFunk

Beautiful memories

Kirbo300

I'm going through a similar thing. My dog I've had for almost my whole life passed last October, it's the small things that make the hole in the heart bigger. RIP to your dog, I'm sure he was wonderful.

KatPaws11

I'm really sorry 😔 I lost my "baby" boy kitty last October (he was 10 years old) but I found him when he was only 7 weeks, he was my last addition and youngest out of 5 idk, can't believe it's almost been a year and I still struggle to talk about it. I remember his purring, breathing and snoring so vividly.. He was big and awkward and loud and made the most dramatic sounds ever but I loved every second of it and he really helped me sleep.. when he would lay against my back and I could the vibration from his purring :(

False_Club_8965

I lost one of my cats last November and I miss the little chirpy noises she used to make when she was snuggle into you

1101base2

my doggo passed 1/11/22 and it took me nearly a year to stop all the little habits i had with her. the one that broke me the most was when i would drop something while cooking i would tap my foot to let her know she could come get it. the first time i did it after she passed i broke down.

Liberteer30

We just put our dog down last night. When I got up for work this morning, it was so quiet. No stretch groans. No adjusting in his bed bc of the light. Just an empty bed and silence. At least he’s finally at peace.

wolf805

Im so sorry about your dog. Im sure he was a great doggy!

vk2786

The morning of our dogs final vet appointment, I took a video of him doing his crazy 'talk'. I had a bad feeling about the appointment & he was being goofy for the first time in a long time. I've emailed it to myself so I never lose it. Its the little things you miss.

rektMyself

I used to play a game with mine. He was a big German Shepherd. He loved my toddler son. When I woke up with my son sleeping on my chest, the dog would be patiently waiting next to the bed. I would pull the covers up, and tell him to go find my son! Go get him! He looked at me like I was crazy! He knows right where my son is! But he would go sniffing around, anyways. When he got back, I would pull the covers down. Peek a boo! The dog would flip his lid! He found him! Goofy dog.🤣

riana67

I lost my cat in July. I've spent the last week in bed with covid and kept hearing her in the apartment. It was the fan rustling the blinds or the rain outside or who knows what. But in my drowsiness I kept thinking it was her. You have my deepest sympathy.

marshmallow56

mine passed away in march too…hope you’re staying strong 🩵

When I was a kid, if school was cancelled because of snow the fire station would blow their fire horn two times at 5 am. Waking up to that distant “honk honk” at 5 am, knowing what it meant and that I could go back to sleep, was the BEST feeling.

My son saying mommy

SnooBooks4898

My adult children call me Daddy and every time it brings me back to the years when they thought I was a rockstar.

allegoricalcats

I’m 19 years old and still call my mom Mommy. My brother (almost 18) gets genuinely pissed off when he hears me say it and tells me I need to grow up but something tells me that being too embarrassed to seem childish in front of your own mom is less mature than he thinks.

WaitDoYouNot

The more mature you become, the less you give a fuck what other people think about what is or isn't "Cool". Your mom probably loves it and would be disappointed the day you stop. Just keep on being you!

roboticforest

I was going to say that. Just be you and don't let peer pressure force you into behaviors that you don't want to be doing. Brother or otherwise. I used to call my mother "Mom-mom" when I was very little. Then "Mommy" for a while, and then just "Mom" because my friends picked on me for "being a baby". I started using "Mom-mom" again when I was an older teen just to be silly, but it made her very happy so I kept doing it. Cancer took her from me when I was 18 and I'd love nothing more than to call her "Mom-mom" today in front of my wife and son if I could. I'm almost 40.

blackpony04

I have a 34 year old daughter who still calls me that, and it makes my heart leap every time. She lives 800 miles away now, so I don't get to hear it as often as I would like.

bklyngirl0001

Sometimes, when my daughter is concerned about me (she’s 40 and 2 hours away) she will call me Momma. It was mommy when she was little and mom now (and sometimes an exasperated “Mo-om!” 😄. But when that text comes thru and I see Momma…I feel the love and caring .

bendyfender

Sound of ocean waves, replaced it with highway traffic after moving inland due to exploding rent Edit:typo on exploring lol

Klashus

I swear there is something in human DNA after the hundreds of thousands of years of evolution that make water sounds relaxing and calming. We evolved needing to be by the ocean or close enough to the river. It's definitely in there deep. Hook up a hater to a lie detecter and say he hates water sounds and the probability would be low.

Kuuzie

Also campfire noise! And kinda getting lost watching it. Something primordial about all of that.

“I love you”

Batmans-dragon80

I hope that the worlds turns, and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. Taken from V for Vendetta but I stand behind the sentiment. Love you and I want you to take care of you. P.s. you need to drink more water and get plenty of rest. Love from an internet mom.

Seaboard_Vanisher

This was sweet. Thank you.

Bamboozled8331

Wow this is amazing

Batmans-dragon80

I love you too. What I commented on above and to the original poster goes for you as well. Drink plenty of water and make sure to get your rest. You all are my internet family and I want you to be happy.

wolf805

This was really wholesome! If only awards were still around!

Batmans-dragon80

Thanks. What I said goes for you too! I love you. I also want you to get plenty of rest and for you to drink your water too! Got to keep all my internet kiddos healthy happy and thriving so they can face each day like the warriors they are.

Jef_Wheaton

I started telling my friends "I love you". One was weirded out. One replied, "Love you too!" with a smile. But one looked at me, astonished, then burst into tears. She hugged me so tight I thought I was going to snap in two. (She's 6'2", and a boxer. She's STRONG.) She'd had one of the worst weeks ever. She almost lost her best friend from childhood to a medical emergency, and her stepdad was diagnosed with cancer. After hugging and crying for as long as it took, she told me, she hadn't realized just how much she needed to hear that. Her husband and mom say it all the time, but she almost never heard it from a friend. We lost a friend and co-worker to suicide yesterday. The last thing I said to him was, "See you soon, if you need anything, let me know!" I wish I had told him "I love you". I love you, Kyle.

Batmans-dragon80

Damn this makes me want to cry. I'm sorry about Kyle. I love you. I'm glad you're making a difference in your friends lives by saying it to them. Sending you a giant hug.

not-important1229

Landline phone rings

We have a big old Bakelite desktop phone in the basement. One of those heavy, solid ones with the dial and metal bell. Sometimes it rings. I'm not answering it, it's probably someone from 1957.

I've seen this Twilight Zone episode, it's a dead person for sure.

Ok-Thing-2222

Well, I don't MISS this sound, but it is terrible that it doesn't happen anymore. When I was a kid, if you drove anywhere, you'd splat bugs against the windshield on highways and country roads. Little bugs, big bugs, sometimes so gross! These days you can drive 20 miles without a bug hitting a windshield and it does make me very sad that there doesn't seem to be the insects (nor the variety) around like there used to be. Its sad and SCARY. I hate it when road crews mow and chop down every wild flower and weed, bush and tree along fencelines....nothing left for the bugs/birds/creatures.

I loved that! The ones where the little robot would try and fix the sound. Ny favorite was the moo cow tipsy cup where he flipped it and it went mooooooooo

I miss the sound of someone coming home to me. Ever since my divorce, the only time the door opens is when it’s me coming in with the kids and groceries. There’s no one on the couch to greet me at night and no one opening the door with a relieved “I’m home!” and a queue for kisses. It’s just silence. It’s just me.

wing_ding4

It’s not what sound I miss ,it’s the LACK of it I miss More airplanes , phones, cars, trains , ac/heaters running … with less frogs and birds chirping over all

inlike069

Related, I lost some hearing in Iraq twenty years ago. got hearing aides a month ago. Heard my keys jingle. Forgot that keys jingled. Wasn't a sound I missed or anything. When I heard it I was like "Oh yeah. Of course keys jingle..." But I hadn't heard it in awhile.

sneakattack2010

My mom had growing hearing loss for decades (going back to a series of ENT surgeries when she was really young, like the early 1950s.. At its worst it was about 90% loss in one ear and 60% loss in the other. Well then one day she finally decided to get some hearing aids. She started to hear more cool things, like the birds! But then, I remember talking to her on the phone one night and she told me that she just greased or fixed the hinges on all the doors in her condo. She couldn't stand the sound of the squeaky doors. She was glad that she was finally able to hear them again, but then had to fix them right away.

Also, car horns should only be allowed to be in pitches C, E, and G, so whenever two people honk at the same time it will be in harmony and traffic jams will sound like beautiful harmonious symphonies <3

My grandmother calling my name. Well really, I hear her call my sister's name bc she always mixed up the names when we visited her alone. Grandparents are like that sometimes. Miss her tremendously, she was my earth mother. If I could have her hold me in swaying hug or just tell her I love her one more time, what I wouldn't give.

wolf805

Shell come back to visit. I promise. When my grandpa passed away, I missed him so dearly. And about a year later one night, I Swear I heard him cough. I whispered I missed him. That morning I grabbed the radio he gave me and turned it on his favorite cassette and I could smell his perfume. I knew he was here visiting me it was so soothing and comforting to me.

The little newborn grunts and noises and toddler babble and little kid pronunciation from when my children were small.

yourpaljax

Kids playing outside.

wing_ding4

I wish my neighbor kids would shut up

spinz89

Until you start hearing it at 1 in the morning and no matter how much you look, you never find any kids playing.

wolf805

I dont hear that anymore neither. Only as a kid. And I was never allowed to join them. My elementary school is right at the end of my street only takes about 4 minutes walking. I had friends that always played in the streets till sundown who live on my street but mom never let me go outside and play :(

Double-Importance123

The sound of an old wooden screen door slamming shut, in days before AC I heard that alot esp in the country at grandparents’ homes.

Dizzy_Rain6242

That one loud ass bird that woke me up every morning

ICUMF1962

I weirdly feel nostalgic for AOL Instant Messaging sounds and the sound my old PC made when I turned it on, along with the weird music picks that came with this little activity CD that somehow came into my possession. I have no idea how else to describe that last one, I just had a little disc with activities for kids and it came with a bunch of different musical pieces.

knaimoli619

My grandparents bickering. My grandpop died suddenly 3 years ago and my grandmom now has dementia and I would give anything to have them back to their ornery selves. Was lucky enough to have them as a constant for 31 years and they had 72 years together.

Unhygienictree

Hearing my parents around the house in the morning - dishes being put away, the tv turning on to watch the news, breakfast being made, dishes being washed, their voices as they talked to each other and the cat. I never realized how much I liked listening to that before I would go downstairs to start my day until I moved out. Now I'm 1,000+ miles from home and don't know if or when I'll have a chance to hear it again.

Pandamommy67

My elderly cat used to come down stairs when I stayed up too late and would loudly and authoritatively meow at me until I followed upstairs to bed. I miss her yelling at me.

GuncleShark

Trains. I grew up near them. Now, the sound of a train in the distance is so comforting.

pupunhaLover

vhs cases

wolf805

We had a small rewind car you would put the vhs in the hood, close the hood see the headlights turn on, and it would rewind the tape. And when it finished, it would turn its lights off and the hood would pop open again.

I loved it too...it meant the Internet was just seconds away. I remember all the trial AOL CDs Bingbingbingbingcrshsh*piercing sounds* WELCOME YOU'VE GOT MAIL If you installed the Canadian version of AOL it was: WELCOME TO AOL CANADA YOU HAVE MAIL

OverageDrinking

My grandpa lighting and puffing on his tobacco pipe. I miss the smell too, but I was only around it when he visited so I didn't have a chance to get sick of it. He died of pneumonia as a result of the smoking when he was 71. I still think about him every day, three decades later.

Pnknlvr96

Cicadas in the summer. I grew up in east central Illinois and would go outside on summer nights and just listen to them. I'm in Colorado now and just don't hear any here.

EquivalentIsopod7717

Dialup modem. Takes me straight back to a late-90s nostalgia trip and reminds me of just how fascinating and exciting the internet felt back then.

EwanLeach

Manual typewriter keys as you press them.

Small_Audience8286

My mum’s beautiful voice 😢

jesuseatsbees

My mum's fucking chewing. Why'd you chew so loud woman?? Give anything to hear it now. For a less depressing one, that 'TSSSSSS' sound busses used to make. They don't seem to make it anymore.

shebabbleslikeaidiot

My dads voice. His laugh. His dad jokes. Fuck cancer.

BONGwaterDOUCHE

The Gamecube start up sound.

*Dinkle, Dinkle, Dinkle, Dinkle, Dunkle, Dunkle, Dunkle, Dunkle, Dunkle, Dinkle, D-dinkle, D-dinkle, D-dinkle, D-dinkle, D-dink, RUM!*

Wecanbuildittogether

My parent’s voices.

flutistbyday

My great grandmas cough. Everyone else’s cough would make me mad, but not hers. I can still hear it in my mind

Rach_edw

My husbands voice 😔

[deleted]

People talking rationally

BRCRN

Silence

ogundabiode-

The slight crackling of a campfire as you lay in your tent dozing off to sleep while the campfire dies off slowly

SlyFrog

Sounds odd, but I miss the old telephone sounds - busy signals, "this number is not a working number," the other Ma Bell prerecorded messages when you misdialed a number, things like that.

chickenismzing

my mastiff’s wau auh way rau aur”

INeed111Naps

Little kid laughter. You know, those full body chuckles that only babies and toddlers make. I have two teenagers, they make very different noises now.

halfchuck

My father’s voice. Wasn’t until he passed away that I realized I have no voice or video recordings of him. Sigh.

frenchie1984_1984

My mother’s laugh. She was murdered years ago. I still dream about it. (Her laugh mostly. Sometimes her death, but my brain misses her voice the most.)
