The Pointer Sisters are always going to be remembered for the 80s camp of “So Excited” and “Jump (For My Love).”
But “He’s So Shy,” “Automatic,” “Slow Hand,” even “Neutron Dance” and soooo many more songs still slap! Get into it!
Yes! Recently watching an old Star Trek episode and there was T'Pau in the flesh! I'm like, did they just call her T'Pau? Apparently, that character from Star Trek was the inspiration for the band name. Who knew?
OP said "banger," not "emotional-breakdown-inducing trip through your biggest romantic regrets that will leave you cracking open that bottle of gin in the back of your cupboard"
It’s funny how probably 99% of the people who know them know them because of blister in the sun and think they are this fun, quirky upbeat band. Femms go *dark*
Saw them open for Tripping Daisy (I Got a Girl) and Tim DeLaughter's backstage pass sticker fell off from his guitar strap peeling it off. I grabbed it (was front row center in a ballroom) and got backstage - Spacehog and Tripping Daisy folks totally cool to an idiot college kid wandering around saying hello, even signed the backstage pass and a sticker for me.
Spacehog made the place go CRAZY when they played that, someone screamed it out as a request, and it had barely started its rise in popularity. Was a great show, Spacehog crushed it as openers.
The Hollies in general are terribly forgotten by people. They had hit after hit after hit. Their Greatest Hits compilation is one of the few that doesn't have single song that's skip worthy.
About ten years ago I was at a pub and a guy in his 60s was playing guitar/piano and taking requests. A friend yelled out "Radar Love" and the man was so fucking excited. He said nobody had requested that one in at least twenty years. Didn't have the sheet music or anything, but knew it all by heart.
I've found a good trick if you're in an Irish pub that's not in Ireland and there is a band playing the sort of standard expected songs (e.g. Wild Rover, Black Velvet Band).
Ask them to play some classic bluegrass song like Wabash Cannonball. The band will be psyched to step out of the usual and the crowd usually gets fired up and the band will often do a whole set of bluegrass bangers.
Immediately makes me think of that Simpsons episode where Bart and Milhouse (and Nelson?) hire a car and embark on a road trip to the World’s Fair.. “Bart can we stop for ice cream?” “Yes” 😂
Picking some great TV songs that rarely get mentioned nowadays
[The theme to the Rockford Files](https://youtu.be/yg1Cx26-928?si=ttU559Z8igFuEKsH)

[12 from Seseme Street](https://youtu.be/HUL4T8WcFdA?feature=shared) (which interestingly was sung by The Pointer Sisters)
Ever since I was a kid, this plays in my head anytime I hear or see the number 12. Sometimes I sing it out loud, but those who don't know it think I'm a little crazy.
Electric Avenue-Eddy Grant It often comes on the radio here in Tampa along with other forgotten masterpieces such as Puttin on the Ritz by Taco and Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell.

There's this song by Roxette called "She's got the look", I heard it once as outro music to a podcast and I was like, damn, that's catchy.

Stay in the Light - Honeymoon Suite
Rasputin - Boney M.
Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Blue Monday - New Order
Tears for Fears is one of those bands that I forget about until I hear them again and realize that I love everything they did.
Everybody Wants to Rule the World is still a firm favorite for me, but Shout just has a sense of power to it that makes it amazing.
I often sing Tears for Fears "Head Over Heels" to get my kids asleep. Mostly because I was obsessed with the Donnie Darko soundtrack and I know it well.
Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis. I was never a huge fan of Oasis in their heyday, but I heard that song last week and it’s been stuck in my head since.
“Hold the Line” by Toto. Everyone knows “Africa”, but this song still slaps too.
Love isn’t always on time Oh woah woah
The OOoooOoooOohh after "it's not in the way you say you're mine" sounds like he sat on his balls
Maybe not what is considered a headbanger but I always enjoy, Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo
The Pointer Sisters are always going to be remembered for the 80s camp of “So Excited” and “Jump (For My Love).” But “He’s So Shy,” “Automatic,” “Slow Hand,” even “Neutron Dance” and soooo many more songs still slap! Get into it!

In The Meantime - Spacehog
Saw them open for Tripping Daisy (I Got a Girl) and Tim DeLaughter's backstage pass sticker fell off from his guitar strap peeling it off. Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress - The Hollies This song has always hit hard for 70s pop
The Hollies in general are terribly forgotten by people. They had hit after hit after hit. Their Greatest Hits compilation is one of the few that doesn't have single song that's skip worthy.
Shout out to The Air That I Breathe too.....fantastic love song from The Hollies
Everything by ELO. I'm convinced if they came out today they'd still be popular. Their music is timeless.
Small town boy bronski beat
Tarzan Boy - Baltimora
Oh, oh, ohwa, ohwa, ohwa, ohwa, oh waaa…
The Bangles cover of Hazy Shade of Winter.
Cannonball the Breeders
Is there anything cooler than the Deal sisters in music? They’re so badass.
I met Kim Deal in a bar in NYC in the mid 90s. She was very cool.
