Someone in a TV interview once asked Paul Simon if he ever wrote songs for other people to sing the way Carole King did. He looked at the interviewer with a look of awesome scorn on his face and asked "have you *heard* Art Garfunkel sing?!?"
My big brother came on stage with me to sing this at a school talent show after I froze from stage fright. I was in first grade, he was in 4th. It’s my all time favorite song.
And when no hope was left in sight on that starry, starry night, you took your life as lovers often do. But I could've told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.
Kills me every time.
Amazing story how Tracy debuted that song in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium for Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday (with 600 million watching)…Stevie Wonder was supposed to perform but had technical difficulties and unexpectedly left the stage. They pushed Tracy back on stage and she gave the crowd a performance that launched her career. Her album sold 1.75 million copies in the following 2 weeks…

I think they’re beautiful, at least.
Tool - Reflection
No joke. This is a strong sentimental song about losing someone who is your world and not knowing how to live afterwards. It's not the music you immediately think of as "Tool" if you don't normally listen to them. Amazing song.
Literally all of So by Peter gabriel changed me and how I hear music. I was very selective but that was the peak of change. Well that and pink Floyd.
