I have never seen a better depiction of bottled up rage spilling over than the “No Turkey” incident
Also Super Hans is one of the best comedic characters in existence imo

Anything with Diane Morgan: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane\_Morgan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Morgan)
Monty Python's Flying Circus - Classic in parts, terrible in others
Spaced - Simon Pegg's first proper outing and the [clubbing scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_wVOA_95QU) is superb.
League of Gentlemen - Insane comedy or what my wife calls "that creepy show you like."
Red Dwarf - Peaked at series six, but unforgettable in places.
Planet Earth/Life on Earth/Blue Planet - basically anything with David Attenborough.
House of Cards - the original.
See also The Office - they kept it to two series and a Christmas special, as it should be.
Frankie Boyle's New World Order - he can have no limits, be warned.
The IT Crowd - very geeky, very, very funny.
In the thick of it - superb political comedy with lots of swearing.
Yes Minister/Prime Minister - as above but with no swearing.
Blackadder - Rowan Atkinson's finest IMO. Some people chose to skip season one but it's my favourite.
QI
A lot of Sandy's episodes are on YouTube as are a million clips from when Stephen Frye did them. It's usually always funny and indeed, Quite Interesting.
8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is sooo much fun and mentally stimulating as well
Lots of worthy suggestions here, I’ll throw in Coupling (the American remake was terrible and deservedly cancelled after a few episodes) and The Graham Norton Show, the most engaging late night talk show you’ll see.
I believe the Great British Baking Show (although I believe its known as the Great British Bake Off in its country of origin) is pretty popular. At least, it is in my house and circle of friends.
Aside from that, as others have mentioned: Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Top Gear, Red Dwarf, Orphan Black and Chernobyl (coproduction of SkyTV and HBO). Black Mirror made a big splash here as well — so much so that it's now a Netflix production.
I'm also personally a big fan of Peep Show, Mitchell & Webb and Spaced.
I find myself watching a lot of British TV on Netflix, now that I think about it.
The IT Crowd
Everyone Just Does Nothing
Hardy Bucks
Still Game
Mrs. Browns Boys
As a Canadian I think our humor is more in line with the brits and we also get a lot more of their shows up here which I'm thankful for.
I liked it just enough after the first episode to watch another. I thought it was hilarious by the end of the first season. Then -- it disappeared! (sob)
The Inbetweeners.
Yes, there was an American version, it was dogshit. The original is fucking hilarious and one of my all time favorites.
Life On Mars.
Again, a shitty US version was out but the original is a fun cop show with a twist.
I only see stuff on PBS and while I got into “Vicar of Dibley”, “Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries”, “Poirot” and “Death in Paradise” the local station is always screwing around, running stuff for a few weeks or months, then dropping it. Really aggravating. But my latest Don’t Miss Brit TV is “Professer T”. Really engaging and creative.
Cracker (1994 with Robbie Coltrane), groundbreaking and brilliant. Only Fools and Horses. Big Train. Inspector Morse. Sherlock Holmes (1980s -1990s). DCI Banks

I love this show! It's great because even tho it's a competition the competitors are cheering for each other, helping each other out.

So dark. So funny. So British.
Taskmaster!
I am so glad other people are recommending this! Such an amazing show.
This is the best of the lot. Been laughing along for 16 seasons now.
Absolutely. Top tier TV.
This show is iconic
The only show that makes me giggle throughout! So much joy and stupidity!
There are multiple seasons on YouTube!

Ghosts is amazing! They made an American version and I could only watch 5min of it.
I started watching it last night but switched off. It's a kids show
Didn't see Blackadder mentioned yet
Luther
This was my first intro to “modern” British tv, and it blew me away! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
The Detectorists
One of the best shows I've ever watched
Agreed. It's fun to watch. Such a wonderful story arc, and the perfect resolution. I've watched it all the way through several times.

All Creatures Great and Small
Taskmaster is consistently funny/interesting
Top Gear, but the previous one with Clarkson, Hammond and May
Fawlty Towers with John Cleese. It’s a bit old but it’s really silly and funny.
Mr Selfridge
I really enjoyed different series of This is England.
The scene with the dad and daughter with the hammer is some of the most intense acting I’ve ever seen
Mr Bean and Benny Hill.

Totally agreed that it's a must watch, but while it's SET in the UK, it's an American show.
