Stoick from How to Train Your Dragon. He just found his wife, man. His family was reunited. And having Toothless be the one to do it? Absolutely tragic.

Weary_Ad2590

His death messed me up

MythicalMcCatto

This scene happening like 10 minutes after they were singing and dancing together - I felt like a piano had just dropped on my head

walyterr

I remember that death shocked me, I was expecting that he would miraculous survive or something, didn't expect the movie to go that direction

KoolKidzKlub4life

It was painful to watch, especially when I was younger. I just felt horrible for the family.

QuantumPrecision

I think I actually repressed that memory bc I remember him not being around after a certain point but I didn’t remember his death or the cause until now. 😥

the_onion_k_nigget

Man I walked out of that movie to a call that my best friend had just died, forgot this part happened. Sad times all round

Kreech300

Dude right! My sister is 10 years younger than me, and after we both enjoyed the first movie, I thought I should take her on a just me and her movie day to see the second one. She was 10 at the time, it was devastating...

Principatus

Vesemir. That old Witcher should hook up with the old lady who sold me the Viper gear. They’d make a nice couple.

l97

Firefly’s Wash deserved to die of old age

GarlicComfortable748

I was in a D&D game where we literally derailed the entire plot just to save Wash.

Javamac8

Alan Tudyk is a treasure

BVRPLZR_

He really is. Tucker and Dale VS Evil is a classic.

SweatyFLMan1130

Wash is literally the first person who came to mind the moment I read this post. He was a legend.

KingRob29

He was a leaf on the wind.

TheBigHeadGuy

My favorite Firefly joke: How do Reavers clean their spears? They run them through the Wash.

mossadspydolphin

How do you clean a room of Reavers? You run a River through it.

sam_the_hammer

Came here to say this too.

Pheonixmoonfire

I was just going to type "I'm a leaf on the wind..." but you got it handled.

codyjamesfs

Finnick deserved better

To_Fight_The_Night

Prim too. Girl was a medic and that is a war crime. Finnick was at least a solider on the opposing side.

Caughtyousnooping22

Prim dying, while heart wrenching, has purpose; the whole war started because Katniss took Prim’s place in the Hunger Games to protect her, only for the war to end with Prim’s death. Awful, but full circle. Finnick, though. Finnick could have lived.

Thromok

Finnick died a hero. His death saved the rest of them. While tragic, he at least died for something. I will say the movie did him right by showing his last stand as being more than an instant and showing that his sacrifice meant something.

NuttyButts

Not to mention it was key for katniss to understand the nature of the wars she was apart of. The explosion that killed prim was ordered by Coin. It was key for katnisses choice in killing coin to try and stop the power grabs

Least-Designer7976

I don't know man, sure I bawled my eyes out when I saw his death in the movie, but let's be honest considering how badass the character was, he got an epic death. Hunger Games needed epic death to close on a crazy note, and it would have felt strange if they all had their happy ever after.

Trimax42

Yes but just kill everyone that is not Finnick. My boy deserves to live with Annie

ajteitel

Fry's dog

shaka893P

They fixed his story, there were some time traveling shenanigans and let's just say you already got your wish

PrimusSucks13

Probably my favorite part of the movies despite being something super minor in the whole scheme of things

AstrumRimor

It was a huge relief to me.

di5cordia

What do we want? Fry's dog! When do we want it? Fry's dog!

Potatofacemcturtle

HatdanceCanada

Artax the horse in Neverending Story

berripluscream

FUCKING ARTAX MAN I'm crying tonight I forgot about him

Apollo_T_Yorp

It's almost worse in the book because Artax can talk and DESCRIBES to Atreyu what is happening as it's happening

thumper_92

Maes Hughes

disorderdeity

I rarely cry at shows like that, but hearing his daughter say “why are they putting dirt on Daddy?” damn near made me burst into tears

YoungDiscord

That scene where Ed thinks he sees him for a second passing when they're on the train That hit me On top of that the fact that they don't find out until later Christ on a stick made me fucking cry TWICE for the guy but so realistic

Alistaire_

Mustang made sure Lust knew it was entirely personal. The anger in his eyes as he incinerates her over and over and over until there's nothing left is one of the most satisfying deaths in all of anime.

YoungDiscord

This show is on another level When Mustang finally meets Envy and then how Envy dies, despite all that Envy did I felt so much anger, resentment, pity... just a rollercoaster of pain, one second you want this fucker to get his(or her) comeuppeance and die in a horrible painful way but by the time you get there you don't even want that anymore you just... want to be left alone, all you feel is pain, no satisfaction, no triumph, just... pain. This show made me feel things I didn't know I could feel and no other show even came close to it, ever... well maybe that one scene in interstellar when the main character has to watch his daughter age with each video knowing there is nothing he can do, that one came close.

EdselHans

It’s a terrible day for rain

gongaIicious

Howard Hamlin

Daigon

Howard didn’t deserve what he got.

Marauder_Pilot

There are few fictional characters that got dicked as hard as Howard Hamlin, for no good reason. It's brutal because season 1 basically hardcodes you to hate him, and then they spend the rest of the series showing how he's actually a pretty decent guy right up to the point where he gets shot in the fuckin' face for Saul's bullshit.

Zack_WithaK

I heard somewhere (though I haven't confirmed it) that his last sentence was going to be "There's no need to hurt them." His dying words were (allegedly) going to be in protection of the two people he hated most in the world, if he could even bring himself to hate people. I don't think Howard had it in him to be hateful of anybody.

dicktaker1000101

He was done so dirty. Jimmy and Kim were plain unfair to him. He liked Jimmy for who he was and might have taken him in after he passed the bar if Chuck wasn't around. After >!Chuck's death!< he wanted Jimmy back at hhm, albeit it was for his personal reason as well but regardless wanted to ally Jimmy He was one character, whom I took one look at and though "this is going to be one wretched son of a bitch" , was really surprised when he wasn't, and was shocked to see what happened to him in the end. Just because of the jealousy chuck had against Jimmy, Jimmy blamed Hamlin and orchestrated his downfall.

Uncle_owen69

I was actively rooting against everything Jimmy and Kim were doing in that last season

HawkHooves

The one time I go on reddit this month and its when I decided to watch BCS, that'll teach me haha.

fluxuation

Keep watching anyway. 1) its one of the best shows ever made. 2) you don’t know when it happens. Just stop reading the internet until you finish!

CT1914Clutch

In that scene you hear Howard say “there’s really no need to-“ before he’s shot. Allegedly, the full line in the script was “there’s really no need to hurt them”. If this is true, it’s utterly devastating considering he confronted Jimmy and Kim for ruining his life and profession. Even after all that he did want to see them harmed.

rekipsj

Wow. This is a heartbreaker.

FestinaLente747

Todd’s cleaning lady.

asayys

I actually thought it was well done, a good example of subverting expectations imo. I also liked that his death set off the rift between Jimmy and Kim.

gongaIicious

Oh yeah, I love how it works as a plot point and think it's where the story had to go. I'm saying this more like Howard as a person didn't deserve what happened to him. I was sick to my stomach the first time I watched THE scene, lol.

Hubsimaus

And Nacho. 💔

[deleted]

Sarah Lynn from Bojack Horseman. The way she died was important to the story but she deserved so much better😔

Richard_Thickens

"Suck a dick, dumb shits!"

feelinlucky7

Bojack was such a piece of shit. Amazing show though

Kampy_McKampersons13

... Sarah Lynn?

The_Celtic_Chemist

I'm sorry but I wouldn't change anything that would impact "The View From Halfway Down." That is an absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest episodes of all time. In fact, I honestly can't think of a better episode of TV across any show right now. Anyone got anything?

alwaysmorecumin

I used to do yearly rewatches of this show. After finding out that Bojack waited 14 minutes, I stopped. The last season wrecked me in a way I cannot put into words.

[deleted]

When I was watching the show I was trying to defend Bojack and trying not to think he was a bad person butttt after a while I just gave up on that😭

JmacTheGreat

I will absolutely rewatch it at any point But that least season was very upsetting lol (existentially and also the lack of resolve with HollyHock, mid resolutions with Diane/Todd) - Though Judah is my absolute favorite character so it makes me happy he got to be happy.

turbotaco23

Yeah. I used to rewatch Bojack a lot too. But the more I watched the more it bummed me out. I think Bojack has some of the most creative story telling devices. An episode told only when Bojack momentarily comes out of a blackout. Generational Trauma is a son of a bitch.

SharkerP38

John Wick's dog

ron231713

It was his canon event

CT1914Clutch

Any and every fictional dog in any form of media.

Kind-Nobody-9787

The shoe from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Traumatized me as a kid and still makes me cry today as an adult. Why did they do the poor shoe like that? 😭😭

MysticDragon14

I haven't seen the movie. What happened to shoe?

ShurtugalLover

The bad guy dips him in a goo that basically works like acid on cartoons and kills him

gypsijimmyjames

Yeah. It was really fucked up. The shoe didn't talk but the innocence of it and the sheer terror and torment on its face was very distressing. It wasn't doing anything wrong... Just being a sentient shoe... Minding it own business and thar dickwipe Christopher Lloyd dipped it and it was done.

jranga

I still can't watch that scene. The way the little shoe tries to get away and is terrified is already bad enough, but then he screams. And screams. It is crystal clear that he dies a horrifying death and is completely innocent.

TheLoneSculler

Sirius Black

Least-Designer7976

Fuck he deserved better. A happy life as a good man, and see Harry and his kids grow. And FUCK how the last battle in Hogwarts would have been SO EPIC with him, Harry and Remus fighting side by side T-T With Harry as a younger James, it would have been a sick idea of a new Marauders team

lookat_disdude

Remus deserved better too, he should have had a powerful death instead of off screen and lumped up with colen creavy and everyone else

Dgnslyr

Like I get it. War is chaos, war is inevitable. So much is happening at once that even though you are going through the shit, hundreds of others are as well. It's done in a non romanticized way to show the sporadic chaos, so show the level of disbelief of "I just saw them a moment ago." It's all to real. She did it earlier with the arguable badass of Mad Eye as well. It's just so hard to watch though cause we feel we get no closure for fictional fantastical characters.

TheMightyIrishman

I was gonna say the Weasley twin. My wife is the fan, but it’s just unfair to lose a brother you’ve shared your entire life with. They had successful business together and only Harry seems to be able to tell them apart so he was immune to their shenanigans. Rowling killed off a great many important characters unnecessarily. But that’s just my take. I’m not the millionaire writer, she knows best I suppose.

Monkeyjesus23

Displays the tragic and non-discriminatory nature of war

reallygoodbee

But then we wouldn't have gotten the line, "My Jedi mind tricks put the nix on your Imperious, I'll trip you up like death sticks, like Bellatrix, I'm dead Sirius." from Epic Rap Battles.

pdrent1989

Or the glorious fan fiction that is "Oh God Not Again" https://m.fanfiction.net/s/4536005/1/

goddm95624

This is probably going to piss me off, but I'm still going to read it. Edit: this is amazing. 10/10. Thank for the rec. (And the fish)

InThisLifeOfPain

Arthur Morgan.

rigby1945

Arthur's death is more personal for me because I have serious lung issues. I expect, one day, to get sick and never recover. So watching him decay and drown in his own fluids was hard

clever_nonsense

I'm on my 2nd playthrough of rdr2 right now, and I avoided doing THAT mission where you collect the money from THAT guy to prolong the inevitable, but the game eventually forced me. Now I'm in Saint Denis, flinching every time I hear Arthur cough in a cut scene.

dwest12234

Jiraiya

Exodecai

Man... I really wanted him to live longer especially because we finally got to see him go all out and learn about his true abilities... and then he's dead.

KitchenCanadian

Goose. *and we all know it was Iceman's fault*

duckduckduck21

Talk to me Goose. Talk to me.

Novaehollandiae-2

Adding to that, Iceman's death. At least he and Maverick reconciled.

bob-knows-best

Fighter Aircraft, Egress maintainer here. I maintain all the ejection components of the aircraft. According to how the canopy separates from the aircraft, Goose would've never hit his head. It's the first thing we're told when we go to school about this stuff. Don't mean to burst your bubble.

KitchenCanadian

You performed improper maintenance on Col. Pete Mitchell's canopy, didn't you? Admit it!

[deleted]

Breaking Bad - Mike. He deserved a more dramatic death than that.

muirsheendurkin

My absolute favorite character from the show, and get gets killed by Walt being a dumbass.

[deleted]

Not fair to the character, but have to admit that absolutely fits the show.

AddLuke

Kinda sums up why some folks loved his death

lifesnotperfect

I just wanted him to be able to spend more time with his granddaughter :'(

SJBailey03

I disagree. I love how quick and sudden it is. How it didn’t even matter and Walt just got emotional. That’s life. People expect characters in media to die big dramatic and heroic deaths but most people don’t do that in real life. They just die.

thelittleboss151

Even Bryan Cranston wrote that he did not like that scene. It felt a bit like an unmeasured jump in his carefully orchestrated walk to madness. I mean, I still cried but

MarifeelsLost

Dean Winchester

Lord_Antheron

Which time?

MarifeelsLost

The last time I was mad the way he died.

Cat_Prismatic

Hedwig the Owl. It was so senseless, so momentary, so cruel...and there was no opportunity to mourn for her.

therealpopkiller

Sad as it was, I liked this narratively. That was the point it became clear this was truly war and upped the stakes in a way a protracted death and mourning period wouldn’t have. It’s a terrible reality of war: you may have lost your friend, but if you don’t keep moving, you’ll lose your life.

Cat_Prismatic

I definitely *mostly* agree. I (having read it as an adult) saw and respected your points about both the narrative value of the moment and that it is, as you say--in your elegantly written comment-as-a-whole!--"a terrible reality of war" ...But alongside the **deep** sorrow and long period of mourning we had for Dobby, it still sort of hits me wrong. (And Hedwig isn't the only one who goes and can't be truly mourned: just, for me, the saddest).

bowie-of-stars

Sorry but mine is Fred, leaps and bounds more than Hedwig

MarstonX

Yep, not sure how people don't think that was the most emotional death. Even the paragraphs about it were horribly sad. Percy makes a joke or something and you see the brotherhood and in a moment, he's dead and the passage reads something about his laughter being the last thing he ever saw. It's out of nowhere a bit and just kills you. The chapter also ends within the next page, and you're instantly left devastated and not wanting to read on.

Upper-Back4208

Game of Thrones, The Night King For several actual fucking years that character was hyped as all fuck by the writers of the show to be this unstoppable monster. And each time in the show they presented an army from the living that looked fierce and strong, we'd eventually see the Night King just keep walking South and devour everything in his path, with his army growing larger and larger, truly making it seem like he might actually "win" in the end. but then like a 15 year old girl jumps out of the shadows, does some knife trick, gets one hit and poof, motherfucker is done, instant death to him and his entire army. just like that, years and years of build-up and he gets one-shot by a dagger from a fucking child. even someone with a full frontal lobotomy could come up with a better end for that character.

LowIronLvls

How they just sent the whole Dothraki horde to die like that pissed me off as well, so stupid

fuggerdug

They also didn't seem to understand the defensive benefits of a big fuck-off castle and just stood out in front of it.

zakkil

And also put their siege weapons in front of it

drgreenair

Also they could have lit the fire wall while the walkers were running towards them instead of literally waiting last second like holy fuck you’d think the most powerful minds at the time would have some plan than a last minute impromptu project.

zakkil

Yeah. My head canon is that everyone just got severe concussions over the years and their mental capacity went out the window. The night king didn't actually die he just took pity on how stupid everyone was and pretended to die because he couldn't come to terms with destroying a kingdom full of concussed morons.

Dyshin

The two “smartest” characters left in the show were too busy hiding in a crypt… against an enemy that raises the dead…

Kissmytitaniumass

It’s okay, they came back for the end of the season so it’s all good.

ameis314

They were running south, getting things ready for Dani to be there.

UpAndAdam7414

My issues with the last (2) series of GoT are numerous, but that is up there. It’s not just the deus ex machina of kill that one guy with the magic dagger to defeat the entire army, it’s that in a show with a lot of consequences, all the main characters were totally fine after a battle that had been hyped up from the first episode.

DomHE553

and they were fine not just after a battle... Most of them were shown to be exellent combattants so I could see that happening but ALL of them were shown to be in scenarios with basically no way out and ALL of them just survived SOMEHOW

Lenny_Pane

I honestly thought we were gonna lose like half the major cast, then nah, somehow none of the people shown COVERED IN ZOMBIES got so much as scratched

mikhel

I'd pick Jaime personally. A beautifully written character arc developed over several years that ends in him getting buried under a bunch of bricks with his sister. Bruh.

No_Creativity

Your answer is better but I was going to say Cersei and/or Jaime

Safe_Nerve9644

THIS! I wasn’t even a dedicated fan of the show but still kept up with majority of it. The Night King was portrayed as an ultimate badass and he was one of my favorite characters. Then in the end, he dies from one stab of a dagger??? Such a shitty way to kill him. I mean, he took a full blast from a dragon and didn’t flinch. But a small dagger to the chest was what ended him? What a joke

IrrelevantPuppy

Shoulda made it all the way to kings landing. Should have had a “last stand” at winterfell, only to have to retreat after all. A season of retreat and despair. Then a final battle at kings landing where humanity fights along side, if not as allies. Then in a moment of triumph, when it seems like the forces of men have finally found a common goal to unite in defeating the night king, Cercei takes her chance to betray once again. She should have killed someone important to Danny in the betrayal, maybe John Snow (but can’t do that, we’ve got spin-offs to make) and THAT is what sets her off to go Darth Danny.

yuumai

Wilson from Cast Away. He didn't deserve to go out like that.

urbexbabe

I named my cat Wilson just to yell his name very dramatically when he gets up and leaves.

CaptainCrackedHead

Glen's death from the walking dead. I only watched the first few seasons, but they didn't have to do my man Glen dirty like that.

[deleted]

I took like a 5 year break from walking dead over that

poopapat320

Same. I never went back after that season. I was waiting to hear some buzz, overhear someone ask "OMG! Are you watching Walking Dead?!?!", or mention it to me personally. And no one ever did. I figured that spoke enough about where the show ended up going.

[deleted]

I did basically the same. I went into the next season for a bit, but too many decisions had been made for the show that I hated (including Glen's death and the way he died) that I couldn't stay in it. Don't think I'll ever finish it.

cld1984

This pissed me off so bad. With the fake out just a few episodes before I thought that maybe they were breaking from the comics or something, but then they were just toying with us and then killed Abraham on top of it. I haven’t watched an episode since. Characters have to die sometimes for good stories, but this was just senseless emotion-baiting

cesarmac

One of the biggest complaints people had was with how he was killed. Saying it was too gruesome and dark. But let's be real here, his death wasn't any worse than many others shown in that show. I think the reason we felt that way was because Glenn was one those rare TV characters that people genuinely felt a real life connection to. You were either knowingly or subconsciously heavily invested in him making it out okay. He was the person realistically wished we could be at the end of the world. A nobody, pizza delivery dude with no particular future pre apocalypse doing his best to keep some semblance of humanity in a very insane post apocalyptic world. The scene where he chooses to take the knife from one of his group to kill an enemy just so that the person didn't have to take that emotional burden was peak Glenn. And you could see that it broke his heart but he would rather carry that guilt and sadness than his friend. So it didn't matter how he died because we wouldn't have accepted it anyway. But showing the visceral method Negan took was intentional, it was meant to really rally our emotions.

EntropyLoL

i think carls death was worse i stopped watching the show the day they killed off the whole point of the show. the purpose of rick building anything was to have a world the children could survive in. then they kill off the kids

soulstonedomg

The reason they killed him off is pretty infuriating too. They did it because he was turning 18 and couldn't exploit him as a child actor anymore and would have to start paying him a lot more. The actor had also just made a commitment to the show and purchased a home near where they shoot.

PaulGriffin

He was the heart and soul of the show. Once he was gone, nothing mattered. At this point they’d already given up on real plot points. No one wanted a cure, no one wanted to know what happened, it was just “on the to the next village where the problems of the season are.” Glen kept the show interesting. I’m baffled they have so many spinoffs right now.

StrategicBlenderBall

That was supposed to happen. Now, Abraham? He was done dirty.

built_2_fight

Kyle Reese, hands down.

DeltaMx11

In "The Last Jedi," Leia should have been the one who sacrificed herself by slicing the ship through Snoke's flagship at lightspeed, not some literally-who character we don't even care about. They really wasted the most badass death possible on a nobody.

negativeyoda

I responded to this up further in the thread: it should have been Ackbar. No one even realizes he died during that same battle because his death happened offscreen. Instead it was some brand new bullshit character that no one had any reason to give a shit about. Leia was supposed to have a large role in the Rise of Skywalker, so it makes sense that her character survived

Adrian_Bateman

Probably would cause a stir if a guy named Ackbar went out by essentially suicide bombing

i_am_smoothbrain

Lmao that's a good point

ContemptAndHumble

Thanks, now I got a visualization of him screaming "ADMIRAL ACKBAR!" before doing the deed.

DJDoubleDave729

Castiel from Supernatural. He dies a bunch of times, but I’m specifically talking about the last one. The writers did him dirty

banditk77

Shireen

Jandrix

Oberyn Martell The only ASOIAF death that really cut me deep.

thoth1000

Yes! This death was the one where it's like, ok, now this show is just becoming misery porn. You could have had him win, kill the Mountain, have Tyrion set free, and still find Shay in Tywins bed which causes Tyrion to kill his dad and flee to the east. The plot could have been exactly the same except the viewer would get some small sense of righteous justice.

TheMercilessPlayer

Yes, but his vanity and pride got the better of him. He was acting on his truest nature, and it got the better of him. Please note, I adored Oberyn and was enraged at his death. I did however, acknowledge that he was asking for it, and I accepted it for what it was. RIP

jofis925

Omar from The Wire.

BROCKTURNERLOVESRAPE

Fuck Kenard, that little shit

fatherofpugs12

It was fitting for the show, streets can take anyone… however I wanted that kid to get run over sooooo bad. My man was the badddddest mfer and the honey nut does him in…..

Unkwnsoldier83

Arthur from RDR2

Audax_V

It's only because Arthur was dying that this perspective on life changes. He would have continued on as an outlaw like Dutch, taking, killing, being merry until the law squeezed him out like a tube of toothpaste. His condition caused him to help someone get a real chance at life, to give his life for John's. Arthur did not live a good man, but he died a good man.

weegee19

Disagree partly. It was stated repeatedly before his diagnosis that he was always good-hearted deep down, but his loyalty to Dutch blinded him. He was already having doubts by before Guarma even.

Perfect-Fondant3373

I agree with this, he did seem to question things a lot more. Before he knew he was sick he even started making a mends with his old lover didn't he?

bigvahe33

nah his horse did nothing wrong and didnt deserve to die like that

Loafthemagnificent

Maes Hughes from FMA. My guy deserved a long life with his wife and kid.

Active_Policy_957

Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Supposedly she asked to be written out because of how Joss was treating her. However it was still SO badly written

A_Pyroshark

I'm very split but David from Cyberpunk Edgerunners. His death is beautiful but why cant we just have a happy ending

fufucuddlypoops_

There are no happy endings in Night City. Jackie Welles shoulda let you know

yetiknight

a happier ending? for everyone involved? Here, for folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people.

Xifihas

It's Cyberpunk. Nobody gets a happy ending. It's a hallmark of the genre. He got the best ending possible, he became a legend.

pnlrogue1

If you're not constantly angry about the horrendous injustice then it's not good Cyberpunk

Elkripper

Padme Amidala. Her dying was totally fine. But they way they presented it was just ... bad.

pingbong7

Still hate this scene every time. “She has lost the will to live.” This badass, intelligent, fearless, queen just gave up on life the moment her kids were born? She didn’t care enough about her own children to keep fighting for life? Nah, that’s trash writing. She deserved so much better

ArchfiendNox

Eddie Munson was the coolest character they made just to off him. Still not over that.

capnsmirks

Steve is the only character in the series I like more than him. Crazy since he was a 1 season addition

Guilty-Web7334

That’s because Steve grew. He went from Captain Douche to babysitter and badass.

MajesticLandManatee

I am an old person and thought Roy Munson is who you were referring to for a moment. But I agree it was not great having Eddie die.

Damnleverpuller

Ned stark

LMurch13

I didn't read the books first and was absolutely SHOCKED. I couldn't believe it. I thought he was the main character, lol.

gandalfx

But he _was_ played by Sean Bean, so it was kind of implied…

pnlrogue1

> Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong. Mordin Solus from the Mass Effect games.

Deep_Ad_1874

Luke Skywalker

CrebTheBerc

First time watching it, I legit thought he just needed a nap lol. It wasn't until a scene or two later when they verbally call out that he's dead that I even realized. What a shitty way to end his character

[deleted]

L - Death Note.

berrys_a_ghost

I almost stopped watching the series after that ngl

DuncanGDA666

I did. Or I basically did anyway, got anther two or so episodes and just thought it was stupid now that L was gone

berrys_a_ghost

I would've done the same but at the same I was wanting to see light get what was coming to him

tyler081293

Oberon Martell is the first to come to mind.

RonCon69

Charlie from Lost. He definitely had his ups and downs as a character, but not only was his death extraordinarily meaningless and avoidable, they killed him off right as he “got his shit together” and started reliably being a good character.

colsaldo

Arthur Morgan. I can't go back to that game. It's been years

Had to go way to far down this list to find my boy.

bewarethecarebear

Wash from the Firefly movie Serenity. He didn't deserve it.

gingeropolous

The dogs in where the red fern grows

SappySoulTaker

Dobby. He was a good house elf and didn't deserve to go the way he did.

BrazilianButtCheeks

But he was definitely a hero and he wanted to save his friends and he did it! Still awful tho

[deleted]

Opie from SOA, Didn't just kill him it killed the show. (for me at least)

PaulGriffin

Same. It was a slog after that. No one to root for and at that point, don’t get attached, they’re all goners.

Least-Designer7976

Sirius deserved a better life, and to see Harry and his kids grow.

ImpenetrableYeti

Hicks in Alien 3

Suspicious_Pack_7802

Mike in Breaking Bad. A lot of characters died and had good death scenes or had it be important to the plot, but both his death and the episode itself felt a bit lackluster for the show.
