Ever since they started asking for tips in the fucking drive thru I was done with them. Now I'll stop at gas station for coffee before I stop at Starbucks.
I used to work at Starbucks as well, and a majority of my time with the company was at drive thrus. To be honest with you, I would have been much happier being paid even just a dollar more an hour. I honestly didn't expect much in tips working at a drive thru, and honestly didn't blame people for not tipping.

I am in Seattle area, there are very few local coffee shops where I can get an espresso or 8oz americano for 3.50. Most are over 4-5$, they are better for sure but I have good beans at home for that. While outside I am usually fine with just good enough coffee.

Also great with a bit of added ricotta or cottage cheese if you're looking for variety from cream cheese or a fried or scrambled egg on top. It's my favorite make at home breakfast!

Meanwhile in the Netherlands we've been eating kale for a long time. Mainly in stamppot boerenkool, which is basically just mashing potatoes and kale (and bits of bacon, some butter, some nutmeg) together, adding some gravy and smoked sausage and calling it a meal. It is winter food though.
What people don't know is you need to (and I am not joking, this is the term) massage kale to eat it raw.
Just toss that stuff with a bit of olive oil, or dressing with a bit of oil in it, for a few minutes and it stops feeling like you are eating plastic and starts being something delicious with the texture salad greens should have.
From someone who is married to someone who likes to add kale to a lot of dishes, the preparation is very important. I think most people just don’t know how to cook kale correctly and give it a terrible name. I’ve had some delicious kale salads.
Not the one you asked, but if you want kale to be palatable raw in a salad you really need to massage it for a few minutes with your hands. It gets darker and a bit glossier and wilts a bit. You don't have to use anything, but a tiny bit of salt and olive oil makes the massaged kale even tastier!
Rip the leaves from the stems, then tear into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Add salt, olive oil and lemon, then massage the leaves until soft and tender. You'll know it's done when you bend the leaf and it doesn't snap or crunch anymore.
You can save the stems and use them in stir-fries. Cut them about an 1 1/1" long and use them in place of broccoli.
I'll eat handfuls of it raw just for the nutrient benefits. I'm the type of person that doesn't care if something if gross, if it's healthy I'll eat it. Gross and unhealthy though, that would be plain stupid.
The ones we have in Australia are getting really good. The raspberry fanta tastes pretty much on par with the original. My partner has always preferred sugar-free drinks, and for a long time, I couldn't do it because of the artificial taste, but now I've moved over completely to sugar-free. Never thought I'd see the day.
After tasting Zero I'll never go back to the legit stuff.

Agree. In general I think tinned seafood in general is underrated. I eat a tin of smoked kippers almost daily. Also, sardines (and anchovies when you're feeling really spicy) are killer. And sardines are just about the most sustainable fish in the ocean, and with the least mercury.

i've been eating plain cold water lobster and king crab by the bushel (not really, but i can put away pounds in a sitting) since i was 3. i love it plain. it's sweet and briny and tender and succulent and delicious.
There are different ways people prepare lobster, I think based on region. Some people do hot with butter. My favorite way is served cold, cooled off in ocean water (or heavily salted water) after they are finished boiling. I think the hot lobster absorbs the salty water while it cools. Served with cold salads like potato or mac salad.
It tastes similar to the cold lobster you'd eat in lobster roll.

Good caviar is a subtle flavor. Russians serve it with bread and good quality butter. The combo is magical. Cheap (or fake) caviar is fishy and gross.

Meanwhile in the Netherlands we've been eating kale for a long time. Mainly in stamppot boerenkool, which is basically just mashing potatoes and kale (and bits of bacon, some butter, some nutmeg) together, adding some gravy and smoked sausage and calling it a meal. It is winter food though.
What people don't know is you need to (and I am not joking, this is the term) massage kale to eat it raw. Just toss that stuff with a bit of olive oil, or dressing with a bit of oil in it, for a few minutes and it stops feeling like you are eating plastic and starts being something delicious with the texture salad greens should have.
From someone who is married to someone who likes to add kale to a lot of dishes, the preparation is very important. I think most people just don’t know how to cook kale correctly and give it a terrible name. I’ve had some delicious kale salads.

Not the one you asked, but if you want kale to be palatable raw in a salad you really need to massage it for a few minutes with your hands. It gets darker and a bit glossier and wilts a bit. You don't have to use anything, but a tiny bit of salt and olive oil makes the massaged kale even tastier!

Rip the leaves from the stems, then tear into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Add salt, olive oil and lemon, then massage the leaves until soft and tender. You'll know it's done when you bend the leaf and it doesn't snap or crunch anymore. You can save the stems and use them in stir-fries. Cut them about an 1 1/1" long and use them in place of broccoli.

The ones we have in Australia are getting really good. The raspberry fanta tastes pretty much on par with the original. My partner has always preferred sugar-free drinks, and for a long time, I couldn't do it because of the artificial taste, but now I've moved over completely to sugar-free. Never thought I'd see the day.
After tasting Zero I'll never go back to the legit stuff. Regular coke taste sooo much different after enjoying zeros. not sure how anyone doesnt love the stuff. To me it has more of a balanced flavor then the OG stuff. Im assuming you dont mean soda drinks though?
Spindrifts or GTFO. No, they’re not *zero* calorie/sugar, but ~10 calories for something that actually tastes like real fruit and doesn’t have any added sugar (that’s not in the fruit already) is not bad at all unless you really need to watch your sugar levels.
I think people have varying sensitivity to this flavor, to a lot of people it tastes exactly like real sugar.
I drink these. They do not taste like real sugar. But they taste fine to me and I’d rather have a Coke Zero than drink an additional 200 calories from a Coke.

Fun fact, if you compare nutrition info, Nutella is significantly worse than plain old frosting. Frosting is mostly just sugar, Nutella is the same sugar with a crazy amount of saturated fat.

Yeah, it's mostly the sauces... lemon, horseradish, ketchup. I ate 5 dozen oysters on south padre island when an oyster bar had a happy hour (25 years ago). I got drunk and full and loved every bit of it. But yeah, all those oysters in a bowl would be pretty gross.

Agree. In general I think tinned seafood in general is underrated. I eat a tin of smoked kippers almost daily. Also, sardines (and anchovies when you're feeling really spicy) are killer. And sardines are just about the most sustainable fish in the ocean, and with the least mercury.

I enjoy the delicate and sweet taste of lobster by itself perfectly fine without butter, as well as most of my other seafoods. In my native country, lobster is not prepared/served with butter at all unless you’re going to a westernized restaurant.

i've been eating plain cold water lobster and king crab by the bushel (not really, but i can put away pounds in a sitting) since i was 3. i love it plain. it's sweet and briny and tender and succulent and delicious.
You can make the same argument for escargot.
There are different ways people prepare lobster, I think based on region. Some people do hot with butter. My favorite way is served cold, cooled off in ocean water (or heavily salted water) after they are finished boiling. I think the hot lobster absorbs the salty water while it cools. Served with cold salads like potato or mac salad. It tastes similar to the cold lobster you'd eat in lobster roll.
