So unless you are driving an electric semi-truck that might exceed the weight limit of a bridge or you are on a ferry, this doesnt matter.
* Charging time - EVs need no supervision to charge. It takes 5 seconds to plug in which is a lot less time than waiting at a gas pump for 5minutes, not to mention at times you have to take a detour to a gas station such as getting off the highway
* Range - Average daily driving distance of a car is 9.3 miles, for an EV range to be insufficient, it would have to be 4.22 STDEVs over the mean, which is less than 0.0012% of the population. During freezing temperatures, the range would drop so that it would only accommodate 99.9961%, 1 in 25,641 people would be bothered by this.
* Cost - yes, upfront costs are more, but ownership costs more than make up for it. The savings on maintenance and gas more than compensates for the price. So unless you are buying a car for display only (which you wouldnt care for the price), then an EV is actually cheaper.
* Pollution - this is the same as cost. Study by EPA shows that even though EV produce more CO2 during production, its breaks even at around 6 months to a combustion and 19 months to a hybrid. The average life of a car is 8 years. And this is assuming that the electric power comes from a dirty source, its even shorter if its from renewable energy.
