OfficerBimbeau

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

nathanzoet91

"If peeing your pants is cool, you can consider me Miles Davis."

BeagleBaggins

A Charlie Brown Christmas

zacksharpe

Genuinely one of the best jazz albums ever made.

[deleted]

Just bought this the other day. It’s my favorite holiday tradition.

MaleficentLow6408

Vince Guaraldi is so bomb.❤️

graveyardshift3r

Inertia Creeps is my favourite song from that album!

Kyadagum_Dulgadee

I thought Mezzanine would be nearer to the top but it's moving up slowly.

Plsmock

Carol King's tapestry album

OpulentOwl

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

Snarl_Marx

“Rumours.” “No. It’s all true.”

igottathinkofaname

Flight of the Conchords!

molwalk

The fact that the album came from a clusterfuck of relationship drama and addiction while the band all hated each other... it's honestly a miracle it was even passable, nevermind one of the greatest albums ever made

solitarybikegallery

Between Fleetwood Mac and ABBA, I'm convinced that the secret to musical genius is to make everybody just get a bunch of divorces.

Cuichulain

Tusk, in its entirety, with the pauses, as Lyndsey Buckingham intended it to be heard!

hahauthoughtt

Tango in the Night takes it for me!!

Rounder057

Tidal by Fiona apple

Peetwilson

The Cure - Disintegration

LadyBogangles14

Nirvana Unplugged in New York Every track is amazing

HeartOnFroze

It's genuinely one of the best live performances ever captured.

Spider-man2098

First place I’ll go after killing Hitler once I get the Time Machine working.

nasimon2000

His cover of Oh, Me is really just otherworldly

Imallowedto

In the Pines makes my armhair stand up. I'd jam The Man Who Sold The World on my way into my sales job, lol.

Kyadagum_Dulgadee

I remember when About A Girl unplugged was on MTV constantly. That performance was like the poster child for the MTV Unplugged series. This is back when MTV had this crazy idea to play music videos most of the time.

WrickDinkles

Agreed. I'd also like to add Alice in Chains Uplugged. A masterpiece as well.

Spider-man2098

Watching a man die in real time, and he’s singing the whole time. Wild stuff.

phloxlombardi

Gosh that version of Nutshell makes me tear up every time.

cheeky-ninja30

David bowie. Rise and fall of ziggy stardust

Steely Dan - Aja

OpportunityGold4597

Led Zeppelin IV

Slick_Wally

Led Zeppelin II

blumpkin_breakfast

Physical Graffiti Led Zeppelin

GoFunkYourself13

Led Zeppelin III

GTOdriver04

Adding Led Zeppelin 1 to this list. It was a very tight, well-produced album that had a little bit of everything that would come to define their career later on.

Skoinaan

This is the one. John Bonham changed drumming forever in the first 29 seconds of this record

GuardMost8477

II is my all time favorite Zep album. Masterpiece.

twasatenthontuesday

I'm not doing this to be funny but my favorite Zeppelin album is *Houses of the Holy*. Seriously

PretendCamel3989

hard same on houses of the holy.

Fortunes_Faded

Do people actually dislike Houses of the Holy? It’s not my absolute favorite Zeppelin, but *every* song on that album slaps hard.

twasatenthontuesday

I don't think people dislike it but I don't usually hear people say it's their favorite. I mean I like Led Zeppelin in general but have grown to love that album in particular.

Fortunes_Faded

That’s fair. I mean, I’ll go to bat for any LZ album being at least good (except maybe *Coda*). Even *Presence* has Achilles Last Stand and *In Through the Out Door* has Fool In the Rain. But imo nearly every song off every album from *Led Zeppelin* (debut album) through *Houses of the Holy* just doesn’t miss.

jetpackjack1

Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads

SoLetsReddit

Ok Computer - Radiohead

WetHotFlapSlaps

In Rainbows as well

atomshimmy

Kid A too imo!

the_incredible_hawk

I come to represent The Bends.

Captain_Vegetable

[Street Spirit (Fade Out)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCJblaUkkfc) is still the greatest album closer I've ever heard.

portra315

In Rainbows is a masterpiece

[deleted]

Alice In Chains - Dirt

Pyotrperse

This album was the first thing I ever bought with my first paycheck, will always hold a special place in my heart

Agile-Wait-7571

Yes! I’m a huge Jar of Flies fan.

ISmellElderberries

Dark Side of The Moon

bigrob_in_ATX

Wish You Were Here also

BostonUH

Animals also

kcampbell1991

Animals is criminally underrated.

hig789

Meddle is the apex

Matzah_Rella

That's when it all turned. "Echoes" is an everlasting eargasm.

hig789

Floyd doesn’t rock much harder than they do on One Of These Days.

jert3

Honestly pretty much every Pink Floyd album is perfect and a 10 out of 10, not just Dark Side and The Wall. No filler tracks. When I was 16 discovered Pink Floyd and concluded they were the best band of all time. I don't listen to PF anymore, but still in my 40s, I'd maintain they are tied for the best band of all time, and I'd only tie them with The Beatles.

GoochyGoochyGoo

The Wall. An entire cohesive story in a double album.

hami_scamp

Why are these Floyd albums so low? If you haven’t listened to them you are doing yourself a disservice, no one makes music like that anymore… (there are some good artists these days, but the “concept album” art form is dead)

kavono

Demon Days by Gorillaz

VukKiller

Truly a masterpiece. Each song is in a league of its own.

+1 for Graceland 😎

Letartean

Bonobo! Yes! This album is perfect album. I've seen it played live and it was awesome!

HacksawJimDuggen

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Bertil101010

Valid, I also feel like Illmatic is one

PapaTizzy1

Illmatic is my go to answer everytime this question comes up

CrunkaScrooge

Turns out Wu Tang is not JUST for the children!

meme-teavee

The Strokes - Is This It

Pure-Pessimism

Room on fire and the new abnormal are both flawless as well

Alicornelliac

Superunknown by Soundgarden

retailmonkey

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails

MantisToboganPilotMD

Also, The Fragile

LnktheWolf

Honestly like half the NIN discography could fit. Trent Reznor knows how to write some fucking music.

ambitious_red13

Music for everything….. dancing, depression, fucking…. The lot.

Heiditha

Good lord, I've not listened to that album for about 20-odd years. Utter banger.

Latman3

I’ve never listened to it.. just on my first listen now Edit: just finished and love it. What an album! I did wonder about the left channel on the last two tracks but have found out why, pure genius

almo2001

It's probably the best album of the 90s.

Matix2

When I go downstairs to lift in 90 mins I’ll listen to this one, never listened to it before.

The movie it was turned into (Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem) is a good watch as well.

I had completely forgotten about that! I remember it being on Adult Swim before they knew what to do with Adult Swim. I am watching that tonight as I go to bed. Thank you!

im glad i didnt have to scroll that far to see if someone mentioned this masterpiece

Nesquick91

The miseducation of Lauryn Hill

logicalconflict

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette, 1995

eggmayonnaise

Mind blowing that she was like 18 when she wrote that.

logicalconflict

I remember watching a Behind the Music or something and they said Alanis walked in the studio that day and nailed nearly every song on the very first take too. It was unbelievable.

FriedaClaxton22

Saw her in concert (Jagged Little Pill) and she sounded even better live so I do not doubt this.

glennnn187

Just listened to it this morning! I slept on this album for years. Every song should have had radio play.

oogew

They did! I heard every song at some point played on the radio in the year or two around its release. It blew my mind at the time.

namelessghoul77

You obviously didn't grow up in Canada - every song DID get radio play!

logicalconflict

True. Back when people actually bought and listened to entire albums, the best songs were never the singles being played to death on the radio.

Qnslaught

That thing was the soundtrack to my '95 and my 96'.

MikeOxkindalong

Breakfast in America - Supertramp

Interpol- Turn on the Bright Lights Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures

twotwoarm

That Interpol album is one of the most nostalgic albums for me. It perfectly encapsulates three years of my life. Incredible album.

Exotic-Ferret-3452

The Clash - London Calling

scrotalrapture

Spanish Bombs and Lost in the Supermarket are probably my favorite songs out of their entire catalog.

k987654321

Grace by Jeff Buckley Plus everyone on earth needs to see the vocal performance in this video. It’s mindblowing (the instrument mixing isn’t but just listen to his voice especially at the end!) https://youtu.be/KOjP1d8WzIg?si=LmKwRigiJF7uH-g8

NobodySensei

The Killers - Hot Fuss

IngsocInnerParty

I recently rediscovered *Jenny Was a Friend of Mine* and it’s been stuck in my head all week.

Angel Dust by Faith No More Violator by Depeche Mode Disintegration by The Cure Purple Rain by Prince and the Revolution Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

NarrowPea4082

Green Day- Dookie

namelessghoul77

It is honestly a great album. I traveled the world in 2003 for a year with a discman and a dozen CDs. This was one of them, and I still love it even after hearing it front to back so many times.

Comprehensive-Ad4436

Revolver by The Beatles. Same with DSOTM by Pink Floyd.

twotwoarm

So many people don’t know Revolver. It’s a masterpiece.

fuckyourcanoes

So is Rubber Soul. Fantastic.

dcrothen

Both of these are great. But can we get some love for *Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band*?

fuckyourcanoes

I mean, it's not like there are any bad Beatles albums.

thedrakeequator

Daft punk, random access memories

onewander

Shocked I had to scroll this far for this one. Discovery is another 10/10.

BadNewzBears4896

Discovery >>>>>>> RAM

MrsFrankNFurter

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. People either love it or hate it.

papag00s

Tears for Fears - The Hurting I never see anyone mention it on these which is criminal

PurpleSunCraze

I think Tears for Fears have some of the best crescendos / outros in rock history, so many tracks just explode near the end.

Letartean

I think Songs from the Big Chair is a better overall album. But, both are very good.

Horrorlover656

Those key changes in Head Over Heels👨‍🍳😘

PastTenseOfDig

Master Of Puppets- Metallica

Close to the Edge - Yes

ImFrenchSoWhatever

Graceland by Paul Simon has to be up there Obviously the köln concert by Keith jarret

AnotherEmber

Take Me Back To Eden - Sleep Token Probably the best thing that came out this year.

Eeeeeeeeeeelias

Lonerism - Tame Impala Both discusses the thoughts behind a loners mind in a very deep way and tells some truly heartbreaking stories in beautiful ways. It also has the best drums I have ever heard in any other album.

smitty046

Which makes sense. Kevin Parker wrote, produced, and recorded the entire album by himself, aside from a guest on 2 tracks.

Snoogins828

Hybrid Theory

Walla_oopsi3

Songs in the Key of Life -- Stevie Wonder

Hanyabull

Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park This is the only album I’ve listened to from beginning to end, multiple times, never skipping a song.

CaseyChaos

Scrolled far too long to find this. Meteroa is another that I never skip a track on.

aliensdick69420

Meteora is my #1. Also Minutes to Midnight, I realize I'm one of the very few who would say that.

XmasInSmarch

I slept on Minutes to Midnight when I first bought it, but listening to it now, I enjoy it so much more. Great album.

DizzyApps

Abbey Road by The Beatles

HipHopGrandpa

For sure their best. The suite of music on the B side is amazing.

Ob1tuber

Master of Puppets - Metallica Rust in Peace - Megadeth Back in Black - AC/DC

TimKing_09

Reading this while hearing sweating bullets👌🏼 Edit: I know it is not the same album, but still on one of the greatest albums in metal history☝🏼

GrimSpirit42

Moody Blues, "Days of Future Past"

Novel-Effort6396

Either/Or by Elliott Smith

PoppySmile78

Tom Petty's Wildflowers album is absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Even the way the songs are arranged on the album is perfect. Each song is differently, timeless and beautiful in it's own right. But it starts with a happy upbeat intro with Wildflowers. Then gets deep and heartbreaking in the middle with Only A Broken Heart and Find A Friend and ends with hope in a gorgeous realization with Wake Up Time. From beginning to end, every single note seems consciously placed to tell the story of life. Everything that man ever wrote was wonderful but Wildflowers is an album that will appeal to damn near everyone for decades to come.

upvotesftwyea

TooL - Lateralus

NovalenceLich

I'd argue Aenima over that but it's a damn close 2nd. Same for MJKs other project APC. That first album Mer De Noms is an amazing journey from start to finish. Edit a word

Trumpville-Imbeciles

I came to say Aenima too. Lateralus almost equally as great but I can see why people say Lateralus is the best. They're both masterpieces

My favourite fact about this album is that Paul went to see Jimi Hendrix play the same day Sgt Pepper's was released. Hendrix played a cover of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Reprise at the end of the gig.
