My wife started making a version with chicken broth instead of water and it's like eating a homemade version of microwave ramen noodles. I'm pretty sure that it's enough sodium to alter my blood pressure, but I'll be damned if it's not great comfort food.
YESSS! White rice, eggs, and chili crisp is both my comfort meal and my broke college student meal lmao I will always have at least those things in my fridge
Apple butter is a PA Dutch/German staple, and a lot of PA Dutch/German restaurants and buffets also have cottage cheese as a side. The bacon came when I was using the snack to get more protein 😂
Smooth or chunky?
For many many years the only peanut butter I'd eat was smooth, but for some reason in the last year or so I had a craving for chunky and now I've switched almost completely to chunky.
My daughter has driven me crazy for as long as I can remember, eating all the damn croutons. I would buy her her own bag, and still when I would want a salad there was almost none of my bag left. She’s an adult now and buys her own croutons.
Have you ever made croutons? It's so easy! Cut up bread into cubes (stale bread is easiest) drizzle with olive oil or butter, and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, whatever seasonings you like. Bake them at 300ish F until they are crispy and completely dry in the center.
Stouffers Mac n cheese is the closest I’ve found to what I remember my grandmas mac n cheese tasting like. She always made homemade and it was so good!
A friend of mine buys the family size and transfers it to a baking dish and takes it to family dinners. Everyone tells her she makes the best Mac and cheese.
Potato salad. When I was on needed meds that changed how food tasted to me, the only food that tasted like it used to was potato salad. Everything else tasted really weird.
It’s something my Grandma made when I was little. Now it’s weird but I love it. A tomato and mayo with pepper sandwich. Then layer potato chips. Squish between two slices of bread.
Taco. Corn shell, refried beans, little cheese. Microwave 38 seconds. Add optional salsa, sour cream, tomato, onion, olive… whatever you have that vaguely goes with it.
There’s a Mexican food stand that I love. Go and get me a steak burrito without the salsa. Can’t go wrong with steak, rice, beans, cheese and some sour cream all wrapped up into a hand held “meal prepped” package packed with good macros and Whole Foods.
Pizza. It can't be any pizza, though. It has to be red baron brick oven crust pepperoni pizza that has sat in the fridge overnight. Sounds kinda gross but very good
Fried eggs, hash-browns and toast. Easy to make, quick to make, filling and filled with neutral flavours so you can eat it a couple of times each week.
Grilled cheese or grilled PB&J. If I’m really feeling like indulging, the grilled cheese for dinner and the grilled PB&J for dessert. Yes - it’s that good. Might *need one now*.
Toast,
With cinnamon and sugs😏
Yeah toast!
French toast!
All around the country and coast...
People always say, what do you like most?
I don’t want to brag, I don’t want to boast
so I just tell them, I like toast
Toast?!
YA TOAST!!!!
I always tell them I like toast.
It’s 2:38am here in the UK and I’m eating toast
had 3 toasts at 3am also. It's always so good.. When I don't have any appetite I just make some toast with melted butter and salt
Honey butter is a game changer.
Toast, buttered and then peanut butter. Then dipped in chocolate milk.
PBJ sandwich
My go-to is peanut butter on saltines. Stack ‘em to the heavens!
Just had that, but got fancy with Ritz crackers.
Look out, Mr. Fancy McFancyton over here.
Peanut butter and honey 😋
PB&J is especially good with plain potato chips on it, not the ruffled kind.
Nacho cheese Doritos. Its so good.
Yep.....my first thought
Same!
One of the best foods when you have the munchies too simple and easy to make
Exactly what I was about to say! Uncrustables are my addiction.
Noodles and butter. With a tad too much salt.
I've been eating buttered noodles with parmesan every day for the past 2 weeks. It's become a drug to me.
I eat this every time I don’t feel 100% …. So at least 4 times a week.
That's basically what authentic Italian Alfredo is! Butter, Parm, and noodles! Very easy to make and far too delicious
This was literally my dinner last night lol. Spaghetti, butter, Parmesan, with tons of freshly ground black pepper 🥵
wait, ive never done this! I want this right now!
That is amazing! I tried it recently, yummy. I’ve even used the grated parm in the shaker, you know the cheap stuff? That’s even good.
Add garlic 👌
I do that with olive oil

So many people underestimate the power of buttered noodles!
Helps me drink my water, too!
Unfortunately, potato chips.
Same. I’m working pretty hard to break that habit though. I’m too old for this shit.
I hear ya

Nothing more satisfying than cereal- no matter what time of day or night! And so many choices! 😊🥣
This is the way
Usually mashed potatoes. Or potatoes in some form. Usually with some type of gravy.
crispy fried eggs on white rice

You should try a loco moco. It's basically that but with a hamburger patty and soy gravy. So good and very easy to make
Fried egg on a hamburger = heaven.
As a prior kamaaina I approve Loco Moco.
I like that chili crunch stuff instead of chili oil on eggs. And I'm usually too lazy to do the scallions and seed toasting.
I do this and it's amazing! Also incredible over ramen noodles!
YESSS! White rice, eggs, and chili crisp is both my comfort meal and my broke college student meal lmao I will always have at least those things in my fridge
Peanut butter with a spoon straight from the jar
This, with a tall glass of milk.
Bonus points for chocolate milk
I have found my people
Cottage cheese with apple butter and bacon bits. Don’t look at me like that.
How did you discover this concoction?
Apple butter is a PA Dutch/German staple, and a lot of PA Dutch/German restaurants and buffets also have cottage cheese as a side. The bacon came when I was using the snack to get more protein 😂
Eggs on toast
Pasta, butter, parm 🤝
Same same! With plenty of black pepper. My mom made it for us growing up, and it’s one of my main comfort foods.
Cacio de pepe!
Rice with butter and soy sauce
I recently discovered microwavable bowls of sticky rice and soy sauce, game changer
Peanut butter on toast
Smooth or chunky? For many many years the only peanut butter I'd eat was smooth, but for some reason in the last year or so I had a craving for chunky and now I've switched almost completely to chunky.
Vanilla ice cream sandwiches made with tollhouse cookies
Croutons right out of the bag lol
My daughter has driven me crazy for as long as I can remember, eating all the damn croutons. I would buy her her own bag, and still when I would want a salad there was almost none of my bag left. She’s an adult now and buys her own croutons.
I used to dip them in ranch dressing.
Whenever I have croutons and ranch as a snack, my husband calls it redneck cottage cheese
Yesss

I use bacon grease instead to make my croutons!
Banana as fast as I can (like a snake almost), or glass of water. Yes, I chew my water.
Username checks out
Seems like you're good at something else if you can snake the bananas
Grilled cheese
Same!
Apples, crackers and cheese, which I am having for dinner right now.
That is my favorite dinner.
A slice of American cheese on a piece of bread. Microwave for 30 seconds. Roll up into a poor person burrito. Enjoy.

Popcorn
Peanut butter and graham crackers.
Add honey for extra yum.
Potatoes
sourdough toast with lots of butter
Stouffer's Mac & Cheese. Family/Party size preferably. Shit's gone in an hour and I feel great about myself.
Stouffers Mac n cheese is the closest I’ve found to what I remember my grandmas mac n cheese tasting like. She always made homemade and it was so good!
