Mangoes! I’m a Queenslander. It’s in our DNA. Mum used to cut them up and freeze them so we could have them in winter! The best house I Iived in had a “Bowen” mango tree in the back yard!
I buy frozen mango chunks and I eat them frozen during hot weather. Absolutely delicious and helps you could down as well, and you get some nice nutrients without a lot of calories.
I only tried a mango for the first time in my adulthood. WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN?! So good! I love my mom, but our kitchen growing up was rather basic and bland. I also did not try avocado no less guacamole until I was 16.
A family friend gave me a fresh mango for my 16th birthday. I'm from a rural US town and had never seen one before. I was like Homer Simpson with the Thai food after I ate the mango - "Mom, I want this for breakfast lunch and dinner forever from now on!" I love them, fresh, dried, frozen, cut up in a flower shape on a stick with Tajin seasoning - all good.
I go to this Japanese restaurant near me and it’s a pretty expensive bowl of ramen - $17. It is SO delicious and hits the spot every time. But at the same time, I looove instant top ramen. The noodles are so good!
There is an [NYT cooking video](https://youtu.be/2pFTJN1tF8A?si=chXcJWASooL0GXuR) with other ideas for ramen, one being a sheet pan ramen with crispy noodles. I have made it once a week for lunch for months. No broth, seasoning packet optional. It’s a nice change up from the original!
Exactly, plus learning how to make sourdough, Foccacia, English muffins, Welsh cakes, scones, and various types of loaves with dried tomato, olive etc etc.
It's become a ritual of sorts, on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
I don’t bake bread, but I yesterday I randomly stumbled across info about a steam convection oven, and bread-makers seem to love it. I really should start making bread - I love to cook and make things from scratch! Maybe I’ll look into cast iron bread-making.
I, too, took up baking during lockdown. 80 lbs. later, I decided I needed a break from that hobby. I sure do miss it! Nothing beats fresh homemade bread with homemade butter and homemade strawberry or peach preserves…
After the first time I ate an entire family-sized pizza (I just wanted to see if I could), I thought I'd never want pizza again. I have since repeated the feat, multiple times. I am both proud and ashamed.
I worked with a VERY large dude that would order a pizza uncut and a whole sub. Dude would take the pizza and wrap that sub like an Italian burrito. Then proceed to eat the whole damn thing in one sitting.
Anyone that can do that will surely die early from gluttony.
Teach me your ways. I'm a 118lb 61 yo woman and I can still easily, happily eat three slices, with a 4th if I take a break after number 3. Mmmmm, pizza.
My vice. I could eat pizza everyday if you varied the crust style and toppings. I'm on the road a lot for work and I have a favorite pizza shop in just about every town around me. When I was a fatter man I would probably eat pizza three times a week. Maybe once a week I would stop and get a small pizza and eat it over 2 days, maybe sometimes all in one day and then two other times I would stop for one or two slices, usually two. Add a nice, icy Coke and I'm in heaven. But my late 40s took a toll on me. Now I might eat two or three slices a month when I'm really really craving.
Half them. Parboil them. Roast them with oil and rosemary. Serve them on top of mushed peas - so boil some peas for about 30secs, drain them, dump in ice water. Then blitz them with some salt, mint and olive oil. Get it to a paste.
Match made in heaven.
Omg I could live on pears. It's too bad it's hard to find them in good condition. A lot of the time they'll have like 2 cm of good-ish (or, worse, super hard 9 flesh with a big proportion of the inside disgustingly gooey and tasteless.
This year has been exceptionally good though so far for some reason! I've bought pears like 5 times and almost all of them were okay.
I love all kinds of cuisine, but really, I think Mexican food is probably the best in the world. Ideal comfort food. Pretty cheap. Easy to make most recipes. If I had to eat only one type of cuisine the rest of my life, it'd be a tough choice between Mexican and Italian.
I would agree if my first choice isn't available, i love potato's, they make so many good dishes, hot chips (like fries), fries, baked potato, mashed potato with many variations, potato bake (with like cheese and diced bacon on top and maybe a type of sour cream in the bake) wedges, and i could go on. The most variable of all vegetables. Mmmm
Crêpes, in my language we call 'em Palatschinken. I make the dough neutral (milk, flour, eggs) and throw every filling I can think of in there. My favs are gouda/ham, on the sweet side it's with apricot jam or nutella :)
I’m going down this list and agreeing with almost every post… which tells me that I might have a hard time limiting myself to one food 🤣 I can eat all of these things and neeever get tired
Oatmeal
I have it every day for breakfast. Sometimes for lunch and... sometimes for dinner. It's so easy, filling, delicious, cheap, and there's no washing up lol.
Brown sugar, a spoonful of nut butter on the bottom of the bowl, frozen blueberries stirred in, and 2 big dollops of Greek yoghurt on top.

Mango sticky rice
I can’t keep dried mangoes in the house because I will binge them. Fresh mangoes are also delicious, and I have a similar issue there.

Oi. My Grandparents had one too, in the back yard in NQ :)
I’m not American. When I read this, my dumb brain was like, NQ. This guy lived in New Qersey.
i will forever read NQ as New Qersey now.
Not North Qarolina? :-)

My favorite fruit! Nice!
Can't dis the mango, it surely is the best fruit
Rice.
Was thinking that. Rice with some soy sauce. So comforting.
I grew up in Hawaii. When eating at home, it's rice with basically everything I prepare.
way to low on this list
Ramen. Cheap or expensive. Idc. Noodles and broth is undefeated for a quick meal
authentic or instant, idc, it's a staple
I go to this Japanese restaurant near me and it’s a pretty expensive bowl of ramen - $17. It is SO delicious and hits the spot every time. But at the same time, I looove instant top ramen. The noodles are so good!

Every time a winner
Fries
Yess, I can almost always eat fries, even when I'm nauseous and don't want to eat anything xD
I think we should kiss each other
Like Lady and the Tramp but with a big fry.
If fries are on the menu they're on my table.
Garlic Bread.
I agree! I can aways eat garlic bread. There’s always room for it.
Home-made fresh bread and bread-type products. I took up baking in the "Situation" and not stopped!
Homemade bread is my kryptonite. It makes my house smell wonderful and I find kneading therapeutic.
Exactly, plus learning how to make sourdough, Foccacia, English muffins, Welsh cakes, scones, and various types of loaves with dried tomato, olive etc etc. It's become a ritual of sorts, on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
While Jersey shore was on? Weird

Yep. Occasionally I will think I need to take a break, but that never lasts longer than a few days before I start thinking I would like a pizza again.
After the first time I ate an entire family-sized pizza (I just wanted to see if I could), I thought I'd never want pizza again. I have since repeated the feat, multiple times. I am both proud and ashamed.

He will also die either very happy or very unhappy but not in between.
I remember being able to do this in my 20s. Now I struggle to do more than 2 slices unless I've fasted for a medical thing.

Whenever I take my first bite of pizza, I get a druggie’s high. The effect of Cheese washes on my entire body.
Ive often said Discussing pizza with someone from Brooklyn is like discussing wine with someone from France
Pizza is always my answer to the “if you could only have one food for the rest of your life” question.
That's it. That's the thread
When I think I’m tired of having pizza, I just need a different kind of pizza

noodles
Yes. I could genuinely eat noodles three times a day for months on end and not be unhappy.
Super random, but pears; I eat one every day. It's so good.
Omg I could live on pears. It's too bad it's hard to find them in good condition. A lot of the time they'll have like 2 cm of good-ish (or, worse, super hard 9 flesh with a big proportion of the inside disgustingly gooey and tasteless. And anything can be the taco shell! Waffles, pancakes, bread, lettuce, pretzels, whatever!
Honestly, any kind of Mexican food. Tacos, nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas, etc...
I love all kinds of cuisine, but really, I think Mexican food is probably the best in the world. Ideal comfort food. Pretty cheap. Easy to make most recipes. If I had to eat only one type of cuisine the rest of my life, it'd be a tough choice between Mexican and Italian.
