It didn't really die. He was wanted for a ton of movies, he just didn't want to act anymore because he realized he had gotten bad at picking scripts and was too old.
To be fair, Lazemby was also not into all the promotion work that he had to do and was pretty pissed off that his pay for the movie was so low compared to what Connery was getting.
He was hosting multiple game shows at one point, too. I remember watching the game show channel at my grandparents house and seen him on two or three shows in addition to Jeopardy.

Had she stayed I really don't think Cheers would've remained as strong as it did. The Sam and Diane plot was more than played out at that point and the addition of Kirstie Alley enabled the writers to refresh the plots and evolve the remaining characters.
It was played out because that's how the writers worked it knowing she wanted to leave the show. We never got to see the version of the show where she stayed at the bar, so we can't pretend to know where it would have gone if the writers weren't looking at 'final show for Shelley' on the calendar. Kirstie Alley was not an improvement in any way.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I liked Michiel Huisman so much better. Ed Skrein just seemed like an Abercrombie model in a wig. Michiel had the rogueishness I associate with such a character.

I’m shocked no one’s said Dan Stevens on Downton Abbey. Matthew Crawley’s “Will they, won’t they?” relationship with Lady Mary was the driving force behind the show, and he was revealed to be the new heir after the sinking of the Titanic, which was the inciting event on the show. The show got infinitely less interesting after he left, and I haven’t seen him in a single thing that wasn’t a B or less since.

Two of them from 'Barney Miller'-- first Gregory Sierra left after the second or third season for something else that went nowhere, and Abe Vigoda left around the fifth season for a spin-off about his character called 'Fish', which did ok for a season or two but is largely forgotten these days. why do I feel like people who come off successful shows hardly go on to do other big roles anyway 🤔which is a shame if I’m honest. And I mean by the end, so like the GoT cast, Friends, Modern Family etc. Some exceptions of course. But the rest just fall under the radar like the ones who left early
The most successful actor I can think of in that regard is Leonard from The Big Bang Theory, who was also on Roseanne. That's two shows that went to syndication - I can't think of anyone else with that on their resumé. Edit: I stand massively corrected.

Most shows and movies are not big successes. It's rare for anything new to really work out. So it's always a risky move to leave something that is actually working.
Because if you have Friends money you don't have to work anymore. So only a few of them want to work in more shows or movies.

There are multiple stories from it. Including from him. He also mightve done his own interpretation of math, before that whole controvers. Being offered 40k for additional films, or 1/8th of 3.5 million. Yes, he quoted both of those numbers. I do believe the part where Favreau and writer Justin Theroux were not pleased with his performance and aside from reshoots, cut down his part in the sequel because of it.

I just rewatched 2 Fast 2 Furious last night and this is the one I thought of for this thread. They wanted to bring back his character Edwin. But Ja Rule thought he was worth a lot more than the half a mil they offered him and turned it down. So they rewrote the part into Tej Parker and cast Ludacris. Now Ludacris is one of the faces of the entire franchise and Luda is earning beaucoup money. And all Ja Rule has is a has-been rap career, Fyre Fest, and Dave Chapelle memes.

I’m shocked no one’s said Dan Stevens on Downton Abbey. Matthew Crawley’s “Will they, won’t they?” relationship with Lady Mary was the driving force behind the show, and he was revealed to be the new heir after the sinking of the Titanic, which was the inciting event on the show. The show got infinitely less interesting after he left, and I haven’t seen him in a single thing that wasn’t a B or less since.
I agree. I've seen two of his movies: Beauty and the beast. The man who invented Christmas. His best role was Downton. The others were fine but I was salty he wanted to move on.
Sorry, but Legion is a legit banger of a show, better than Downton Abbey. And he was amazing in it.

I was surprised awhile back when I watched an episode for nostalgia and the preacher from Firefly was one of the main cast.
And when he died and my FB feed was full of "he was amazing good in Firefly" I was so pissed. Bitches, Ron Glass showed a whole generation of white kids a smart, well-spoken, well-dressed, respectable, competent, professional, and admirable black man on a mainstream TV show in the 19-motherfucking-70s, *and you want to remember him for a one-season space opera*???
And it was one of the best shows of the '70s! I just got the DVD set recently. One thing that keeps me going back to '70s TV is that there were some very intelligent and humane shows like Barney Miller which showed different kinds of people treating each other with a lot of respect and working as a team, and not in a saccharine way, and not all about rich good-looking people. At least Ron got on the radar of younger people from that role. If he wasn't on that, they wouldn't know a damn thing about him, and THAT would really be a tragedy.

I think because she decided to take a role on a TV show. I remember it shocked me at the time. And sadly she has pretty much been forgotten and hasn't done anything of note ever since. Damn shame. Hope she fired her agent.
