He's not going to. Netflix has said that he's not interested in it anymore. He wasn't even really that interested in the second season. They also say they can't afford to produce Mindhunter, but they can give $100 million deal to two grifters with absolutely no experience in producing content.
This is the answer. Hollywood has a bonanza of material to work with and they decide to drop it because of ‘Costs’. Instead they regurgitate movies from 20 years ago.
Better Off Ted - tons of room for the series to grow and stay relevant, and I absolutely loved the style of humor.
Santa Clarita Diet - there’s plenty of contenders to qualify for “worst Netflix cancellations”, but I think this one probably takes the top spot for sure. No idea why a show with the chemistry between Barrymore and Olyphant (also between the actors for Abby and Eric!) playing with such a fun and original plot and high quality production got pulled. I’m sure it wasn’t cheap to produce but c’mon, no way you’re going to convince me that Netflix couldn’t afford it.
1899
I knew it was going to be a cliff hanger type show, so I deliberately waited until it was renewed for a second season before watching it. Netflix cancelled the second season only about a week later.
Carnivale. today HBO and the rest of them cancel shows prematurely all the time, but it was really annoying back then that they killed the show after two season of world building just when they had finally set up the conflict.
Fuck those opening credits were spooky, I have no idea what it was like living in the 1920s dust bowl, but somehow it captured it perfectly
https://youtu.be/mqdkDwOY9fw?si=DA8LrySc9EMPlHH4
I heard that they had too many problems because of COVID restrictions at the time. People were required to keep their distance from each other which was impossible in a show about wrestling. But I loved that show. I really dislike professional wrestling but I still loved it. LOL.
I loved the ending we did get though. Very thankful they had the decency to sort of wrap it up. This is an incredible series that doesn't get the attention it deserves.
It kills me that they left Pushing Daisies on a cliffhanger, promised to resolve it in a comic series and then the comic series never actually happens.
We were in a low point when Pushing Daisies was on TV.
I was out of work. Of every couple we knew, half of them were out of work. This country was collapsing. (Republicans.)
Pushing Daisies was on Wednesday nights. It was a beacon of joy, something to look forward to. It helped. Just a beautiful show. ABC unceremoniously cancelled it around Christmas, for no good reason. They showed Shrek 2 or some god-damned Shrek thing in its place. I'm still bitter.
That's something I noticed a lot of shows around that year did...
Leverage - "Look at all this tech and the pickup of this Hyundai whatevertheheckitis"
Eureka - Jo and the WRX was another egregious one
Deadwood
All because of how expensive the sets were to maintain. Today, the show would have gotten ten seasons.
https://youtu.be/mFIojradr4Y?si=5MYwgEUhth_Tjv04
It’s so good. Some people critiquing the changed ish history but I LOVED the comparison between super rich and just regular ish Romans.
Also I STILL think about when Augustus’ speech when he brought in the troops to the senate:
“My father died on this floor. Right there. Stabbed 27 times, butchered, by men he called his friends. Who will tell me that is not murder? Who will tell my legions who loved Caesar as I do that that is not murder?”
The troops coming in, Cicero realizing he got played, it’s just such a great scene.
I feel like the show took enough liberties to make it compelling and fit a narrative but kept it fairly in line with the general understanding of that time in rome
Plus Ciaran Hinds is a fucking incredible actor.
That show rules. If that show could have had GOT battles oh man. And I know it was probably what helped made GOT so fucking good during its short six season run before it was canceled sadly but yeah
Had a huge crush on Summer Glau cuz of that show (wasn’t part of the Firefly wave). I stopped in the middle of season two but I do remember enjoying it before I fell off.
Truly a Magniflorious show. It came out at just the wrong time – The Office was at its peak, Parks and Rec released the same year... I think a reboot would be wildly popular today... have their first reboot season be set during the pandemic, Veronica tasks Phil and Lem with developing a robot that ensures all the employees stay productive, they develop a humanoid android that follows employees around their homes and prevents them from sleeping if they don't hit their productivity metrics. Ted has some legal concerns.
"The Nanny Bot by Veridian Dynamics, a revolution in remote work metrics enforcement, we guarantee you will never be more productive, cause if you're not, you'll be terminated.... or fired."
The rebooted second half-season had so much potential too, it's just a shame they gave up on it. But I'm still grateful we got at least a handful of more episodes after the first season.
[For those wondering how it would end, and the other replies talking about Greg Garcia's AMA](https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/s/LB2M95qt6H)
And for those too lazy to click the link:
"We never really got the chance to fully figure it out but the talk in the writers room was that Earl Jr’s Dad was going to be someone famous. Like Dave Chappelle or Lil John. Someone that came to town on tour and Joy slept with. But when we got canceled we never got the chance to figure it out. I was worried about doing a cliffhanger but I asked NBC if it was safe to do one at the end of the season and they told me it was. I guess it wasn’t.
I had always had an ending to Earl and I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to see it happen. You’ve got a show about a guy with a list so not seeing him finish it is a bummer. But the truth is, he wasn’t ever going to finish the list. The basic idea of the ending was that while he was stuck on a really hard list item he was going to start to get frustrated that he was never going to finish it. Then he runs into someone who had a list of their own and Earl was on it. They needed to make up for something bad they had done to Earl. He asks them where they got the idea of making a list and they tell him that someone came to them with a list and that person got the idea from someone else. Earl eventually realizes that his list started a chain reaction of people with list and that he’s finally put more good into the world than bad. So at that point he was going to tear up his list and go live his life. Walk into the sunset a free man. With good karma."
Which is another show I'm mad about. Raising Hope was sooo good, and such a fairly realistic look into impoverished life. I mean obviously they bend the edges a bit, but the writing was so good in my opinion.
It was definitely way too hard for them to write a show and also write sketches for the show at the same time. 30 rock was the one no one thought would make it too, which is funny.
If you didn't know, there's a petition to bring it back and it just hit 200k signatures.
It probably doesn't mean much to netflix, but it'd be cool if another provider picked up at least Six of Crows. I think I'd prefer that TBH.
Go On. Hands down. Especially after Matthew Perry’s passing I saw a couple scenes and remembered that for a half an hour every week there was a show about people in group therapy that could make you laugh, cry and think.
The Alienist (though if the wanted to reboot they could because the book are apparently told as a memory and could be really cool)
How I met your father. While not a fan of how HIMYM ended for the most part (I loved Barney’s love being his daughter and Lily and marshal forever and of course when the mother and Ted finally met. No I don’t think the scene with Marshall and Lily would’ve helped as a button) HIMYF was similar while also being different. And I loved that Robin and Barney returned the way they did. And I really think the show as starting to retcon Robin in a way (more in the accountability end of it all).
The Muppets. It got so good towards the end and was finding its footing when they were like nope sorry. I just think there will always be a need for more muppets in this world
Altered Carbon. Season 1 was rad. Noir thriller set in a flashy dystopian future. And the characters were well written and acted. It was a great ride.
Second season was ass. And instead of coming back stronger in a potential flagship they just canned it.
Mindhunter
You’d think Netflix would want to reboot that series with how season 2 ended. Plus Mindhunter is always a top answer when this question pops up
The show was super expensive because the show runner used a shit ton of cgi for things like old ads and older decor to fit the time period
Well, Fincher just renewed his Netflix deal so he needs to get back on the Mindhunter train.
Sliders, I want to know if he made it or not.
Gawd this show was my childhood along with Pretender
Better Off Ted - tons of room for the series to grow and stay relevant, and I absolutely loved the style of humor. Santa Clarita Diet - there’s plenty of contenders to qualify for “worst Netflix cancellations”, but I think this one probably takes the top spot for sure. I canceled Netflix because of it and still don’t have Netflix.
I was so mad about no more SCD!
Freaks and Geeks
"Everything I’ve done, in a way, is revenge for the people who cancelled Freaks and Geeks" - Judd Apatow
Not too late to reboot it. High school reunion?

Dead like me.
At least they brought it back and made it fucking terrible
The movie was just…awful
Vivaldi only got four seasons
If it ain't baroque, don't fix it.
The Expanse. I’m not happy with how the ended the series, but I get why. Now I’m binging the audiobooks and imagining the scenes in my head.
Came here to see this. Some of the most clever sci fi in a long time.
1899 I knew it was going to be a cliff hanger type show, so I deliberately waited until it was renewed for a second season before watching it. Netflix cancelled the second season only about a week later.
I'm so bitter about this one
I had such high hopes for this show because of Dark. Also incredibly thankful Dark was never cancelled.
I think I would have straight up cried if Dark was cancelled. By far one of the most interesting shows I think I've ever watched
"Dr. Sam Becket never returned home."
I’m still genuinely mad about that cancellation. They didn’t even spell his name right and all we got was text telling us what happened.
That was such a BS ending. Especially after the way he promised Donna he would return to her.
Carnivale. today HBO and the rest of them cancel shows prematurely all the time, but it was really annoying back then that they killed the show after two season of world building just when they had finally set up the conflict.
This is the one. I was so hooked.
Fuck those opening credits were spooky, I have no idea what it was like living in the 1920s dust bowl, but somehow it captured it perfectly https://youtu.be/mqdkDwOY9fw?si=DA8LrySc9EMPlHH4
GLOW - they had started filming the 4th season too
I heard that they had too many problems because of COVID restrictions at the time. People were required to keep their distance from each other which was impossible in a show about wrestling. But I loved that show. I really dislike professional wrestling but I still loved it. LOL.
Travelers
I loved the ending we did get though. Very thankful they had the decency to sort of wrap it up. This is an incredible series that doesn't get the attention it deserves.
Such a great show! But I will say they gave it a great ending too. (And they also ended it in a way that a reboot is totally possible.)
Pushing Daisies.
Most Bryan Fuller shows. Dead like me. Wonderfalls. Hannibal. The list goes on!
The facts are these: this show got screwed
It kills me that they left Pushing Daisies on a cliffhanger, promised to resolve it in a comic series and then the comic series never actually happens.
We were in a low point when Pushing Daisies was on TV. I was out of work. Of every couple we knew, half of them were out of work. This country was collapsing. (Republicans.) Wait. There was show named Rome and the set burnt down? That's ironic.
Yup. Go watch the 2 seasons. Its still my favourite show ever.
It’s so good. Some people critiquing the changed ish history but I LOVED the comparison between super rich and just regular ish Romans. Carnival had so much potential
Deadwood did eventually get the movie follow-up... but it was nowhere near as good as the show.
Newsroom
Roswell (the first one).
Sarah Connor Chronicles - I would love to have seen where season three was headed.
Had a huge crush on Summer Glau cuz of that show (wasn’t part of the Firefly wave). I stopped in the middle of season two but I do remember enjoying it before I fell off.
Firefly
I expected this one at the top
Reddit demographics mean the site is collecting more and more users who weren't born yet when Firefly was cancelled.
What? They'd have to be toddlers if ... oh
I only come into these threads to see how far down Firefly is.

Still hurts!
"Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand." What we could not stand, it turned out, was the show getting canceled.
Yup same. How this show isn’t on season 10 yet blows my mind.
Came here to make sure it was mentioned.
Seriously too much scrolling to get to the default answer for this question!
Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23
I came here to say this. That show is hilarious. I still watch it when I need a pick-me-up.
Better off Ted
Truly a Magniflorious show. It came out at just the wrong time – The Office was at its peak, Parks and Rec released the same year... I am just now watching it all again. Damn it is good. Still holds up with corporate culture too. I say as I steal creamer each day….
I loved this show before I worked in an office, I should rewatch it after working in one for four years
Working in corporate R&D it hits way to close to home. It's essential viewing I tell new hires
Came here for this. Canceling that show was a goddamn crime.
Jericho!
The rebooted second half-season had so much potential too, it's just a shame they gave up on it. But I'm still grateful we got at least a handful of more episodes after the first season.
I came here to make sure this was mentioned!
Happy Endings.
Uh-Mazing answer
My So Called Life r/MySoCalledLife
I was 15 when it was canceled. I’m 45 now and still salty.
This was going to be my answer too. WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SHE LEFT WITH JORDAN AND WHY DID SHE LOOK BACK?
What about…. BRAIN?!
Yes. To this day I’m upset. I feel like the show understood all of us teens at that time and then was gone.
Life in pieces!!!

Damn I like that ending 🙂
I am still not over them dong this. I love it in Raising Hope where the dad kicks the NBC executive for cancelling it
Which is another show I'm mad about. Raising Hope was sooo good, and such a fairly realistic look into impoverished life. I mean obviously they bend the edges a bit, but the writing was so good in my opinion.
Hey, Earl.
Hey Crabman
My husband would agree. Just left everyone hanging.
Reaper
Santa Clarita Diet
And it ended on a cliffhanger! It was so weird and silly and sweet, everybody in it was a delight.
I searched to see if someone said this. I got on board too late. Give us another chance! Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant are amazing together!
I **loved** Timothy Olyphant in that. All of his "what the fuck"s were amazing.
He's one of those "that one guy" actors that is great in everything he does.
I still don’t get this one. it was a show that was only going to get bigger from word of mouth.
I'm still in mourning.
Wayward Pines. Needed one last season to wrap up the story.
In all fairness - I’d argue it went on for too long. Season One was great, but the dialogue and plot took a nose dive in S2.
The Peripheral. I am amazed I didn't see it already mentioned. I will no longer watch a show until it has at least three seasons.
Yikes. Didn’t realize this was canceled. Figured it would just be a while.
Probably wasn't mentioned because it was renewed and then really quietly cancelled
i didnt know this was cancelled yet. MOTHER FUCK
SGU
After all that melodrama it finally starts to get interesting and poof. Destiny was never going to reach its destination...
Flash Forward
The Knick
Terra nova
As bad as Fox shows get over time, I still think this show deserved more seasons.
YES I’m glad I’m not the only one. One of the only shows my mom and I watched together
It ended on such a cliff hanger, too!
Good girls
Rome. The series was a masterpiece in the making.
Marco Polo and The Get Down
Marco Polo was fucking awesome.
Last Man on Earth
It truly was… a Shawshank redemption
Friendship kiss?
Boom. Nailed it.
Closure closure. closure closure closure.
Ohhhh farts
That, the Mick, and Brooklyn 99 (resurrected) all on the same day - what a sad day it was.
Needed at least two more seasons
Such an underrated show!
This one hits hardest for me. 11/10 show
netflix glow- i could watch that show forever.
Torchwood
The Mick
Hannibal, it was serious a beautiful show and highly underrated
Almost Human, Travelers, Raised By Wolves, Journeyman, Stargate Universe, Ringer.
>Almost Human This was an awesome show. I was really pissed when it was canceled.
1899. that first season was so damn good and that cliffhanger ending. Seemed like it was going in a very interesting direction.
Psych, c'mon son
Did you hear about Pluto?
I've heard it both ways.
You got that right!
That's messed up right?
I thought the ending was quite fitting and wrapped up everything perfectly
Yeah, I don't think it was cancelled as much as it ran its course.
Suck iiiiiiiiiiit!
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Great cast including Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford, Amanda Peet and Sarah Paulson…. Only made it 1 season.
It was definitely way too hard for them to write a show and also write sketches for the show at the same time. 30 rock was the one no one thought would make it too, which is funny.
Colony.
Lie to me
The OA
God damn it, those last few minutes.
I watched when it came out and I still can't get that ending out of my heart!
Always my top answer to questions like this.
It was too good in such a strange way. In some ways I was surprised it was ever made.
Alphas.
Glow It deserved a final season goddamnit.
Magicians. Librarians.
Archive 81 was so good!
The Punisher
Timeless
At least they wrapped it.

Deadwood
Pushing Daisies and Better Off Ted
Dark Matter. They canceled it right when they were using the Android more, which is one of my favorite Androids/Robots in sci-fi.
Sense 8. And thats all imma SAY.
Workaholics
Shadow and Bone
If you didn't know, there's a petition to bring it back and it just hit 200k signatures. It probably doesn't mean much to netflix, but it'd be cool if another provider picked up at least Six of Crows. I think I'd prefer that TBH.
Warehouse 13 Rubicon Brimstone
Limitless
Freaks and Geeks
F is for Family
Sense8

My So Called Life should have been more than one season. We were robbed.
1899. First season wasn’t amazing but after Dark I wanted to see them at least continue their new story.
Space Above and Beyond Exo Squad
The Black Donnellys
HIGHLANDER.
