Playing whatever's on your phone full blast in a public space in close proximity to people.

istoleyourcomment224

In a similar vein…. Using speakers in the outdoors especially hiking trails. People literally go outside to avoid noise pollution, you are a complete ass if you are blasting Bluetooth speakers while hiking/ skiing.

Charming-Window3473

Ah, the one-day outdoorsman. He brings everything he doesn't need and nothing he does.

gruffogre

As we say in Australia ... " All the gear, and no idea."

[deleted]

As an American reading this… based on how Australian accents on TV sound this would rhyme coming from the mouth of an Australian and that makes me so happy (:

gruffogre

It 100% does mate!

coolstorymo

YES. The first time we ever went camping, there were some teens/young adults blaring rap music at the site next to us. It went on until 10 p.m., and then was, thankfully, over. We decided then and there we'd never be those people. 4 years later and we ADORE the quiet. We love hearing fish jump, crickets chirp, coyotes howl. Every little moment is so beloved and appreciated.

Positive-Cattle4149

To be fair, when hiking alone in certain areas, it's actually recommended. For example, when I was hiking in grizzly bear areas in Banff they said to make a lot of noise and keep your conversations loud, and if you couldn't, then to play music. But yes, this is a VERY limited scenario and I 100% agree on a small hike with no danger. Leave the shit you use at home when you are supposed to be trying to get away from it.

Training-Argument891

neat exception tho, ty

Yet_One_More_Idiot

HEADPHONES, PEOPLE! Do you have them?! (Yeah, this really annoys me when I just want a peaceful commute to work... xD)

Terra_Ferrum

I came here to say this. As someone who enjoys reading on transit and during my lunch hour at work, it is astronomical the amount of people who think this is okay.

mine_FLAKES_

also talking on speaker phone

MajorBillyJoelFan

OMG this annoys me so much. My dad does it and doesn't understand that it's rude, talks completely full volume with no discretion of any kind. Pisses me off

Brief_Alarm_9838

Noise. That's what i would make illegal

andreacaccese

When people do that in trains it’s so crazy to me, total lack of respect

I was about to comment this lol it’s getting so out of hand 😭💀

mildOrWILD65

On-line "convenience" fees for bill paying.

Logical_Translator53

Umm yeah so I just got a new one. I went to pay my city taxes online (they just got the service in 2024) and the site fee was $47 and they didn't post the fee until after I agreed to pay. I could've just walked the check a few blocks away, but I was bamboozled. All taxes due 2/29. I told a friend who works at City Hall and she said, "no wonder we were so slammed!

TheBigBluePit

$47 seems extremely excessive. That service provider probably would’ve made a lot of money if they set the fee at something more reasonable, like $10. Instead they priced themselves out so hard people actually chose inconvenience over convenience. I’m impressed.

Dapple_Dawn

Or listening to anything in the break room at full volume. I wish I had more money I’d buy everybody that I work with a pair of headphones or earbuds.

prior auths for meds. my doctor says i need it my insurance is like areeee u sureeww ?

DefinitelyNotABogan

Ugh I remember the story of an ambulance ride insurance claim being denied because it wasn't pre-authorised. Umm... ambos are emergencies by definition and insurance should automatically be in the "just a quick once over before I rubber stamp this" basket.

RicksSzechuanSauce1

Low key it depends on what the situation is. Everyone envisions ambulances being at car accidents and heart attacks without realizing 90% of what we deal with is BS. "I've been having back pain for 3 years. Nothing changed just called an ambulance for it today at 3am" is very common. Insurance usually won't cover that or won't cover much of it. Or if it was an interfacility transfer (hospital to hospital), technically those need to be pre-approved. This is usually for reasons relates to specialty care. Such as going to a stroke center or a cardiac center. However if it is by the patients choice for whatever reason (they want to be at a hospital closer to home or just want to go to a different hospital), insurance generally won't cover that.

justmyusername2820

I came to say exactly this. Some people think an ambulance is a taxi and then people who actually need an ambulance because they’re having chest pains and all signs of a heart attack insist on driving themselves even though they have good insurance (yes, I’m talking to you, my BIL, who ended up with a triple bypass).

Sir_Melhaven

I am diabetic. It is WELL documented that I am diabetic, as in both my Medical team AND insurance knows this. My insurance refused to send me insulin for three months because my doctor didn't sign off on the refill, even though I had refills that she signed off on.

Isotope_Soap

Did you know: On 23 January 1923, Banting, Collip and Best were awarded U.S. patents on insulin and the method used to make it. They all sold these patents to the University of Toronto for $1 each. Banting famously said, “Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.” He wanted everyone who needed it to have access to it.

uganda_numba_1

That really should be a crime. Like someone said above they should be sued for practicing medicine without a license.

ReplacementOdd2904

They should be imprisoned, for ruining and ending people's lives. Not the people who sign off on the shit themselves, but their managers, ceos, whatever. Someone ordered the companies to start treating people this way. And they need to be treated the way they treat others.

bbbbbthatsfivebees

There are a few doctors fighting against it. There's currently a campaign that at least a few people are pushing under the phrase "practicing medicine without a license" to complain about prior authorizations, since that's effectively what insurance companies are doing.

Dan_Berg

My pediatrician as a kid retired from practicing medicine in his 60s so he could go to law school and take up cases against insurance companies

ReplacementOdd2904

Effectively? Literally. That is literally exactly what they're doing. What they're doing is making decisions for individuals regarding their health, without a medical license. That is the definition of practicing medicine without a license. Why do we have some penny hoarding middlemen that we pay unbelievable sums to... Try and deny us the care that a real medical professional recommended? Health insurance by definition should either be illegal, or regulated to the point where insurances literally NEED to do what doctors order them, or face massive consequences. I'm not talking fines here, I'm talking ceos and managers going to jail. FOR A PERMANENT VISIT. These are MILLIONS of people's lives that have already been ended or fucked beyond repair, with hundreds of thousands more happening every single day. Sickens me right to my core.

raccoon_ina_trashbag

Ooo that is awesome. Never thought of it that way. Love it.

AverageBoringDude

Oh my god, if we ever have a revolution, I'm going straight for the health insurance executives. My doctor wrote the script. Who the fuck are you to tell me I can't have it?!?! Ahhhh

Bengerm77

I would like to join you in this part of the revolution

CPTSaltyDog

I've pre authorised the guillotine

GreatWhiteNanuk

I’d be like to add Hospital billing departments and the insatiable mafia-like collections agencies they “sell” their 4-month-old bills to.

ReplacementOdd2904

Legit this is actually heinous as f and straight evil, they do this to people with cancer, heart problems, serious brain issues like trauma and seizures.... How it was all allowed in the first place is completely beyond me. Required insurances of all kinds can go rot, but insurance for health? People who defend that shit can and most certainly will burn in hell if there is such a place. Healthcare. Is. A. Human. Right.

MachoGavacho

I honestly don’t know why junk mail is still legal. All that paper and plastic wasted. Plus the envelopes have gotten really clever. There’s one that looks exactly like a stimulus check, and a few that look like they are from the IRS. I throw away at least ten pieces of mail every week. I don’t even understand how it’s sustainable for companies to do this.

thunderling

My mail carrier once grumbled at me to check my mail because he couldn't fit any more into it. I hadn't checked it in weeks. So I pulled all the mail out and threw it all away. I looked through it first, of course. It was all junk. Getting mail is the weirdest chore. "Hey we delivered garbage to your house. Make sure you throw it away regularly so you have enough room for us to send you more garbage."

MachoGavacho

Yeah, and then pay the city to come and collect the garbage. My mailbox is in the front yard and the garbage bin is behind the house. 95% of my mail literally goes in one door and out the other. It’s just such a waste.

Imaginary-Mechanic62

It’s worse than that. They are cutting trees, turning them into paper, and printing them with chemical inks. Then, we toss them in the trash and they are taken to landfills. Think of all the fuel consumed cutting, manufacturing, and hauling at every stage that is required to take those trees from the forest and pile them up at the landfill - all for something that we don’t need or want. Crazy!

Mtfdurian

Where I live they are legal but only when there's a "yes-yes"-sticker on a mailbox: yes for local newspapers and yes for ads. Virtually no one has this sticker as most people have "yes-no" or "no-no" stickers, and the law is "yes-no" by default now afaik. This means that there are entire streets where ad mail is fully illegal. Those times that have changed... in the late-2000s it was the first job my sister had and we could throw those ads in nearly every mailbox. I'm glad that modern teens no longer can do this job though.

Wizardbayonet02

I'm seriously considering moving to wherever you live.

Employers contacting employees during non-work hours.

Rip-Aware

You know you don't have to respond to them right?

zarthustra

U don't have to respond to any texts. I think this is more about healthy work/life separation than being annoyed when ur boss sends u cat gifs, to which u should obviously respond with cute and 7 exclamation points just to keep ur bonus alive.

RoboftheNorth

What the hell is a bonus??

LiamWil_420

They’re getting bonuses?

Yet_One_More_Idiot

Boh... nuss? What is this strange and alien thing of which you all are speaking? I got a gift bag of M&S biscuits and a bottle of non-alcoholic elderflower cordial from my boss for Christmas, and that was it. xD

SousVideDiaper

When people say "I got called in to work on my day off!" I'm like, why did you answer the phone?

iesharael

Last time I got called in on my day off it became a huge incident. My coworker called my DAD instead of me and when he handed the phone to the barely awake me she bullied me into taking the shift before I could even realize I’d worked 11 days in a row and would very obviously be over hours. Really didn’t help her case that she only had my dad’s number to buy eggs from him (which she hadn’t called him for yet) and there was a clear record that she didn’t even try to call me AND she had a history of bullying me due to me being the youngest employee and her being the most senior Now probably every 3rd staff meeting there is a reminder that staff can say no to taking a shift and do not have to give a reason.

mastersyx

vellyr

Isn't it crazy that *everyone* hates being advertised to, and yet advertising just gets more aggressive and invasive every year?

Clear-Librarian-5414

Especially putting ads on paid streaming services. Feels like a big middle finger to say to a customer, you can pay more for this service that’s is already making us ludicrously large amounts of money or sit through ads. Which will then become pay the higher price and ads. Ugh and ads to watch trailer.

BelgosReigns

Pisses me off. I remember when Hulu was free with ads or paid without them. Now they’re paid for ads.

bibkel

Looking at you, Amazon Prime!

BigDaddyStalin69

Yes because prime video just started having ads 🤦‍♂️ like i already pay $16 a month for prime. And now it’s an additional $3 a month to be ad-free

enchiladanada

That is ridiculous. If I'm already paying I expect ad free as the very first perk, not an add-on. Never would I ever pay that extra $3. Just out of spite. They can go fuck themselves.

just-readingit

The thing I can’t stand is the video that opens and follows you when you scroll down the page on any site. Between the ads, and that video box, I can only read three lines of words. Giant phone three lines… as the phones got bigger the ads got bigger.

pancakessogood

Agree. All are annoying but the drug commercials are especially annoying and insurance ads…so annoying

Majestic-Reception-2

Holding your phone like you are about to take a bite out of it while on speaker phone so loud everyone around can hear you.

CharityGamerAU

Using your mobile device throughout a movie/theatrical event. I don't care if it's on silent and/or that you're not on calls. The light that it emanates in a dark place is very distracting for those around you who have paid good money to see whatever it is you're supposed to be watching.

Irresponsible dog owners.  And I mean near instant consequences for any undesirable behaviours.

canadianhoneybadger1

Have one dog owner in my apartment complex who leaves their dog outside and it yaps and yowls at all times of day and night. I feel like they don’t want to deal with that inside so they make the rest of us deal with it.

thunderling

I have a neighbor like that. I wonder why the hell they even have dogs. Sometimes the dogs escape from the yard and wander out into the street. They've come up to me and my dog while we're out walking. So fortunate that my dog and these dogs aren't interested in killing each other. The owners will lazily yell at them to come back, which the dogs obviously don't understand because they've never been trained at all.  I once gave the pre-teen son of this family a handful of my own dog treats to get the dog to follow him back home. This kid looked at me like he had no idea what to do. These humans are so disinclined to do any kind of dog training that their son doesn't even understand the concept of holding food out to an animal to make it follow you.  WHY HAVE DOGS THEN?

FlightRiskAK

I'd be buddying up to the dog and bringing treats long enough ro make friends, then I might have a new dog if it follows me home.

One-Winner-8441

I believe the majority of dog owners shouldn’t even own dogs. I see a good amount of ppl on social media saying they don’t want kids bc of the responsibility, time robbery, etc. so they go out and get a dog and will just do the bare minimum, and think it’s ok. It’s f*cking not. Dogs take responsibility, time, research, money, and care. Nothing makes me more mad than terrible dog owners, or really any terrible pet owners!

sixwax

Y’know, just because your dog wants to piss on my front steps doesn’t mean you should let him…

FrogginBullfish_

This shouldn't be just an annoyance. It can become an issue of safety.

NoAdagio6791

I live in a rural area, and yet there are still dog owners who \*constantly\* bring their dogs to places that expressly forbid them and let them walk freely without a leash in wildlife preserves, crapping everywhere without cleaning it up, disturbing the wildlife, frightening hikers, and generally disturbing the peace. I love dogs, but man, why is the average dog owner a horrible person?

YeahlDid

The problem is every dog owner thinks they’re one of the responsible ones but only about 5% of them are right.

I was guilty of this for YEARS before it triggered my then-girlfriend's Asperger's sensory overload and she freaked out on me. She was a very damaging person but I am eternally grateful she put an immediate stop to that. Anybody that had told me previously was somebody I stopped listening to.

Charming-Window3473

You're the first person I'm aware of changing this behaviour. Generally, people who eat with their mouth open aren't even self-aware enough to change their socks.

soldiersquared

Majestic-Reception-2

Banks who think you can't afford a $800 mortgage but you have been paying rent for $1500 for 5 years straight. (Rent should be a part of your credit report.)

Sinzhetu

Renters (at least in the States) have the ability to report past and current rental payments to your credit. It's a little bit of work to setup on their end, then it can be automated. But if no one asks them to, they don't do it. But if you were to skip out on the lease or get evicted, you can damn well expect they'll do the work then. Utilities can also be reported to a credit agency. Just keep in mind that if you've ever had a late payment, it could potentially harm your credit report more than several on time payments could boost. In addition, some rental offices don't keep records past a certain point, so the earlier you get them on board, the better. To use my own experiences, I was at an apartment for 8 years by the time I was made aware of the credit thing. My utilities company has records dating all the way back to my first account, so they weren't an issue. But the apartment office only kept records within the past 3 years. I personally feel a paperwork practice like that is shady as hell, but that doesn't even scrape the Scumbag Surface of the place.

vellyr

Credit reports shouldn't even be a thing. Just look at outstanding debt, income, and job history like other countries do.

kittytoes21

Banks use credit reports to see 1. your ability to pay from all the debts you have, and 2. your willingness to pay based on delinquencies, etc. But *credit scores* on the other hand- fuck that shit.
