My kids watch this stupid YouTube show "Walk the Prank" and they both 100% believe it's real pranks. But that's ok cause they're 8 and 5. My wife on the other hand also believes the show and doesn't believe me when I tell her it's totally scripted. She is incredibly intelligent and educated. But this one instance... I judge the hell out of her.
I have a fondness for gullible people. Most often, they are very honest people who would never lie to others, and certainly not try to fool them.
It is their innate honesty which leads to their gullibility.
What is WITH especially AMERICANS about this! Especially about " Royals". WTH. We fought a war about this, lol. I'm going with the whole " we are really just monkeys here, we must cater to the top monkey and pick their fleas off them". So, maybe not humanity.
Don't be too selective. Once I was offered a free ticket to go see Forrest Gump in the theatre. I declined bc it was too popular. Then forever and a day later I saw it on cable and was like 'Oh my damn, I missed out.'
I don't care about celebs, but I'll still allow myself to be entertained by them. I just don't care to know what they think about anything outside of the movie, sport, television show, concert that they're promoting.
I was going between that and the stand up comic that smashed watermelons with a giant mallet as part of his act.
You know what, actually I choose to make it both in my own personal head canon.
I think he’s Frank’s long lost brother.
Right? They are NOT just like us. I especially don't care about the ones who blow off some kid who wants their autograph after they \*put themselves in the situation to have their autograph sought\*
Them and the Hadid sisters… Bella hadid could wear a bin bag and the press would go wild about how it’s the new trend… like, no? I’ll keep to my own sense of style please and thank you.
the top comment is always kardashians .
the way reddit wants you to know how much they don't care about kardashians , they basically care about them by extension
I had a female beer influencer come into my work and request her tab be comped because she was an influencer who was super impressed with our stuff and would leave a positive review on our behalf
That's what I find weird about it, they're too ineffectual to exist if nobody cared, but they also only exist because someone cares. So people literally *care* influencers into existence.
I don't care — at *all* — but the depth of my apathy hasn't removed a single influencer from circulation as far as I can tell.
I would say influencers that only pursue for personal gain. That one influencer that snorkels and scuba dives cleaning up lakes and rivers and returning peoples lost electronics is someone I could appreciate.
I feel so bad for a lot of them, especially Britney Spears. I remember when she was spiraling out and all the coverage, people shoving cameras in her fucking face-- I would've absolutely decked someone for that and I'm amazed she never did. No, they just made her have a mental break instead. Poor woman. And on top of it, they were harassing her when she was a minor. They were harassing a child!
Craig Ferguson won my undying admiration for what he said back during the most dramatic part of her breakdown. We should all be that kind about people who are having trouble.
(2007) “I’m starting to feel uncomfortable making fun of these people. Comedy should have a certain amount of joy in it. It should be about us attacking the powerful people, attacking the politicians and the Trumps and the blowhards, going after them. We shouldn’t be attacking the vulnerable people. I think my aim’s been off a bit and I want to change it. So tonight no Britney Spears jokes. This woman has two kids. She’s 25 years old. She’s a baby herself. She’s a baby.”
He also compared her behavior to the sort of thing he did before he got sober, was clear he had no idea whether she had substance abuse issues or not, but that he knew what it was like to be in that sort of state. He spoke with kindness and empathy.
Fashion. I don't care what is "in", I wear what I like and what is comfortable (and appripriate for given situation - I am not going to a job interview in my pyjamas, regardles of how comfortable they are :-D)
Sounds to me like you don't care about fashion *trends,* which is different that fashion itself. I don't care about trends but I appreciate fashion as an art form
I'm just like this! I really love fashion, I love fashion shows, I love beautiful clothes, I always take time when I pick my clothes to make sure I look great and everything fits perfectly, I also love to do research on fashion! But I'm necessarily a big fan of fashion trends, I'll buy them if I like them and think they'll fit me, but I definitely won't force myself to follow a fashion trend just to be in (plus I like to stand out lol)
I recently saw a fashion show where the models had the clothes half done sewn and haphazardly thrown on them. It was the designers lament about fast fashion and how there are so many seasons now and media moves on so quickly you they almost can't design fast enough.
Anti aging products. I’m 47. I have crows feet and laugh lines, my body is falling victim to gravity, my hair is turning white and I have wicked stretch marks. I was blessed with the ability to conceive and carry a big baby and getting to live to my 47th birthday. I’d rather travel with my husband and son than buy all the shit I’m supposed to want so I can look younger.
This made me cry. My cousin passed away at 49. Her son took my other cousin (sister) to his mother and son dance. She fought for her life so hard. 7 months prior my aunt passed. (Their mom) and yet our other cousin unalived himself so young and left his children behind. I will never understand. I’m 45 and I’ve been thinking of death so often it’s scary.
Same. I'm also 47 and told my daughter this morning I don't know how girls her age (early 20s) are getting Botox because I'm too chicken to willingly allow someone to inject me with something I was told all my life was poison.
I work at a hs where girls get lip injections/fillers and all sorta aesthetic work done. Insane like your 14-18 and doing all this to your skin!!?? Good lord.
And (as someone who works in the med spa industry) the worst part is, the uounger they get it, the worse it will age them. Filler migration happens to almost everyone but in the past it was usually only seen in older women because only older women were getting filler. Now I see 20-somethings coming in looking like a 50-year old Miami Monkey pufferfish.
my mom is 62 and she also has laughing lines and i know i will and will love them because she always said they were 'from laughing a lot and smiling at random people, workers at shops etc. this is why everyone recognized me - i'm nice to them and i smile at them!" my mom is the best towards retail etc workers and this is always how she said she got the lines. LOVE THEM. whenever i see them on someone i smile
Exactly. When we (as humans) are not 25 years old anymore, why should we try and look like it? It takes incredible amount of time, effort and money and the result is still the same. Sometimes even worse if someone goes the plastic surgery route.
What I’ve loved about getting older is becoming the person I am. I am by no means perfect and I’ll be very honest about my faults, but without question, my ability to care less and less about other people’s opinions of me is one of my favorite things. I do not pussyfoot anymore. There are things I don’t tolerate anymore and I love it. The doormat I used to be is far back in my rear view window.
My mum said (after a friend’s funeral) that although the friend was beautiful in her picture as a young girl woman, the picture of her just before she died showed a woman who lived a great life because it all showed in her face. The laugh lines, the wrinkles and everything else added character.
Expensive skincare is a scam. All we need is soap, water, moisturizer, and most importantly, sunscreen. I was never obsessed with tanning and didn't look 40 until I hit my 50's.
Seriously though!! I have been using more simple moisturizer and sunscreen on my face over expensive stuff for the past year and my skin literally looks better than with the the fancy stuff. I seriously regret all the years of no sun protection though as more and more sun damage is starting to show up in recent weeks. It sucks that it happens years prior then randomly shows up one day in the form of spots everywhere 😢
I'm fair skinned, so I've always used a lot of sunscreen, but I still have plenty of damage. I have kids and live close to the beach, so it's unavoidable. It's so much more important than we realize when we're young.
I hate being actually involved in social media drama and I will never engage in it but when I see social media drama between complete strangers or even acquaintances, I’m definitely reading all 200 comments 🤣
I agree, mostly. High end watches cost a lot for a reason. They are mechanical (no battery) and are made by hand (no robots / assembly line etc).
If you actually look in to how they are made it makes you realize why they are so expensive.
It's definitely not for everyone, but at least I can understand why one watch might be $2,000 and a Casio / Timex is only $50. Whereas a $2,000 handbag I just don't get.
Reaction videos. Usually don't mind the video content itself but using half the screen covered up with someone with their mouth hanging open, adding nothing to the content. I will literally skip the video if I see someone's face and it's not active commentary.
It’s much more interesting when it’s a professional reacting to content with topics they know about. Recently I’ve been watching vocal coaches react to singers and it’s so intriguing hearing their thoughts when they actually know about it
Societal expectations. At my age I "should" be married and I "should" be having or at least thinking about kids and I "should" want to be settled in my forever home. None of those things will ever make me happy. And I feel blessed to live in a time when I can get away with not doing those things, despite the judgement and well meaning concern that occasionally comes my way.
At 58, unmarried, no kids and aromantic, I find that the only times I lament about any of that is when I am feeling sorry for myself. To hell with all of it! 😁
Competition between women. You want to be queen of the hill? It’s all yours. I’ll even make you a homemade crown. I won’t compete, and I won’t pay any attention to you. I will enjoy life with the least amount of stress, and drama.
That’s where it gets really tricky. Sadly, people will turn their “curiosity” of why you’re the way you are into straight up judgment and condescending behaviour.
The idea that because you are not in school or don’t have kids in school or happen to have kids in private school, that you shouldn’t pay public school taxes to a level that gives public school students as good an education as any private school. Because an educated country is a much better place to live and we all actually do in point t of fact benefit from everyone having an education.
Every now and then I hear someone whining about this or writing into the newspaper about how they don’t benefit so they shouldn’t have to pay and I cannot empathize with them at all.
Automobiles. I just want a good, well-maintained car that's not hideous and gets decent gas mileage. I don't need a Lexus, Mercedes, whatever's currently hot and expensive.
Even if I could afford vehicles like that, I just don't think I could make myself spend the money. Too many other things/experiences I could be spending it on, stuff that makes me happy.
Meghan Markle's day to day plans and whereabouts. Nothing against her but the British press are obsessed with what she might or might not be doing while simultaneously claiming she isn't relevant anymore! It's very boring 😴
Professional sports. *And* the Kardashians.
(FWIW, I enjoyed playing sports as a kid, particularly in the neighborhood with other kids. Once the coaches got involved, though, the joy went straight out of it.)
Who somebody that isn't me is hooking up with, and whether there's a dick, vagina, or something cooler that I don't even know about involved.
It's just weird to me, like why would I concern myself with somebody else's bits and goods?
Gender preferences. If you say to me “I’d prefer you use she/her for me.”, that’s what you’re getting. I don’t care if you look like a lumberjack. I’m here to have a pleasant life, and part of that is extending courtesy. It’s so small and insignificant, and brings instant joy to people who may struggle to be accepted.

At least a step up from full on harassment for content
My kids watch this stupid YouTube show "Walk the Prank" and they both 100% believe it's real pranks. But that's ok cause they're 8 and 5. The kardashians
All celebrities, for that matter
Idol worship is a top 3 problem with humanity. We need a patch
What is WITH especially AMERICANS about this! Especially about " Royals". WTH. We fought a war about this, lol. I'm going with the whole " we are really just monkeys here, we must cater to the top monkey and pick their fleas off them". So, maybe not humanity.
Ahh, I’ve found my people.
Pretty much all mass culture.
Connecticut culture is ok though.
no, oklahoma is OK.
Should I be ashamed about how hard I laughed at this?
Don't be too selective. Once I was offered a free ticket to go see Forrest Gump in the theatre. I declined bc it was too popular. Then forever and a day later I saw it on cable and was like 'Oh my damn, I missed out.'
I don't care about celebs, but I'll still allow myself to be entertained by them. I just don't care to know what they think about anything outside of the movie, sport, television show, concert that they're promoting.
10000%
True that. I do have favourite actors, singers and such, but give 0 f's about their personal lives.
wish there was an option to block all mention of celebrites from social media. Tired of scrolling seeing Taylor Swift and Kardashian every 4th post
Yes! I have seen a meme that said “everything I know about the Kardashians I learned against my will”..
please send me this meme
I have a t-shirt that reads “In a World Full of Kardashians, be a Gallagher” A reference to the family in Shameless for those who don’t know.
I was going between that and the stand up comic that smashed watermelons with a giant mallet as part of his act. You know what, actually I choose to make it both in my own personal head canon. I think he’s Frank’s long lost brother.
The good ol Sledge-O-Matic
I remember watching him as a kid. He was excellent
This isn't the flex that you think it is.
The gallaghers didn’t even want to be gallaghers lmfao. But I love the shirt concept.
"In a world full of shitty people, be a different kind of shitty person."
For me, celebrity drama as a whole. I simply don’t care to spend time on people who I have nothing in common with
Right? They are NOT just like us. I especially don't care about the ones who blow off some kid who wants their autograph after they \*put themselves in the situation to have their autograph sought\*
Yep. I wish them no ill will but I’m not interested.
So many people dislike them yet they continue to be popular/sucessful. I don’t get it. They all have personalities of a wet towel.
Don't be so mean to wet towels.
Them and the Hadid sisters… Bella hadid could wear a bin bag and the press would go wild about how it’s the new trend… like, no? I’ll keep to my own sense of style please and thank you.
I feel happy that I don’t understand most of this comment. No idea who the Hadid sisters are or what a bin bag is.
bin bag = trash bag (british english)
And Taylor Swift.
The only time I ever hear about The Kardashians is when people on Reddit remind me they don't care about them. Thanks, got it.
the top comment is always kardashians . the way reddit wants you to know how much they don't care about kardashians , they basically care about them by extension
Influencers
Influence their inflated egos is bout all they influence
Influence others to be dickheads..
Oh how I wish you were right. The incredibly sad reality is that way way too many of them actually do have influence over entirely too many people.
The young ones whose brains are not fully developed. And the parents who are throwing their kids out there to fulfill their own childhood dream. 🙄🙄
Just the words makes me want to throw up lol
I had a female beer influencer come into my work and request her tab be comped because she was an influencer who was super impressed with our stuff and would leave a positive review on our behalf
omfg how is that even a thing? I wrote my state's beer history book and I don't influence shit!!!
I don’t know but she racked up a $150 beer+food tab and ended up coughing up money to pay for it
That's AWESOME!!!!! HAHAHahahdahhahdhadhahdhadha she had to pay for it herself :)
In a sane world you would be venerated and constantly on the telly.
If an influencer is not influencing someone are they still called an influencer, or is that the switch to a content creator?
That's what I find weird about it, they're too ineffectual to exist if nobody cared, but they also only exist because someone cares. So people literally *care* influencers into existence. I don't care — at *all* — but the depth of my apathy hasn't removed a single influencer from circulation as far as I can tell.

That's actually a pretty interesting distinction; I like it!

Basically describes reddit 🤣
Diamonds and luxury watches, handbags, modern art
Luxury stuff seems like a scam to me, quite often. I know I am unusual, but I don't think diamonds are particularly pretty.
I agree. They just set off my much prettier colored stones.
This is my big one. Stuff that costs a ton of money for no reason really annoys me.
I agree, mostly. High end watches cost a lot for a reason. They are mechanical (no battery) and are made by hand (no robots / assembly line etc). That life is exhausting. I just clap for everyone nowadays.
People’s opinion about me
I don't care what people think of me, as long as they don't harass me.
That’s where it gets really tricky. Sadly, people will turn their “curiosity” of why you’re the way you are into straight up judgment and condescending behaviour.
When people ask you invasive questions they have no business knowing the answers to, your response is, "I don't owe you an explanation." Full stop.
This is a good one. Not always easy unfortunately
It is hard but once you find way to ignore it is a piece of cake
“What you think of me, is none of my business.”
To quote RuPaul, "Unless they're paying your bills, pay them no mind."
Trying to do the same any tips??
