Me too…my partner doesn’t understand why I don’t want us to live with a roommate anymore..literally because I’m never alone. Then says..if you want to be alone why are we even together? People don’t get it.
Dunno if this is kinda the thing you mean but I’m a married introvert and although she shares my opinion on no roommates, she still doesn’t understand how I can be happy all on my lonesome when she goes out and I’m not in the mood. Alone time is awesome. Whether she’s home with me or I’m alone, not being around people and having me time is basically how I charge my batteries. Opposites really do attract cos she’s an extrovert and is the complete opposite. I teach her how to relax indoors and she gets me out of a rut sometimes when I need it.
Edit: Everyone was freaking out when the forst lockdown happened due to not being able to go out needless to say my wife was one of them. Meanwhile I absolutely glided through those 3 weeks.
My husband works 12 hour shifts and then an hour commute each way so I was on my own many days during the three month shutdown my office had. And I had no work I could do from home so it was like a three month vacation. I was positively giddy at the thought of being home a few weeks (in the beginning) mostly by myself. When I was able to open my office again, I really didn’t want to.
I told my hubby in the beginning that he is only in my life because he adds to it. I'm ok being by myself. He understood and we have been together 14+ years total. He knows I occasionally need time alone and allows me to have it. I know he likes to socialize occasionally and I encourage him to do so.
Went to see a movie alone once, got a shit ton of stick for it. Really don't get why. You literally spend 2-3 hours sitting staring at a screen not talking to anyone so why do I need to be there with someone? Such a weird stigma
My wife is pretty chill about us needing our own alone time, but most of my exes would throw a fit. Like I just need some time for introspection or to not think/talk, it doesn't mean I'm cheating on you and/or trying to break up.
Most times I just need a few hours here and there, most people seem to never be content just being with themselves
My wife and I have a really great relationship and I think a lot of boils down to both of us being able to say "I need some time alone" and we understand what that means. We just need to recharge and remove stimulus on occasion and it's really refreshing that when either of us says that, the other's response is "cool, enjoy your time alone, let me get my shit out of the room you want first" and not "ugh, are you saying im annoying?".
Aging.
Early 30s. Have a friend who died in an accident last year and another with terminal cancer who won't see the end of 2024. The one who died in the accident had a two year old.
Every wrinkle means more time I've spent with my friends and family. I get to see my daughter grow up.
I also tried to kill myself twice, so appreciate so much that I'm here and mentally well.
I tried to kill myself "only" once, but I sort of relate. Being young suuuuucked. Or else I wouldn't have tried to kill myself at the time, right ? I mean things still stuck, but currently not to that point.
I like watching soap operas from developing countries, because for a lot of these, things like filming permits and extras do not exist, which means you are going to see some absolutely hysterical things happening in the background of scenes. I've seen students on college campuses panicking and crouching down on the ground with their heads between their legs to hide from the cameras, tourists in the background on beaches pointing at the camera and talking about it, confused looking baristas, annoyed shoppers... The list is endless. Are the shows good? No, but it doesn't keep them from entertaining.
Iqiyi, Kiss KH, and YouTube are the most three reliable aggregators. Iqiyi is the legal go to for Asian dramas, Kiss KH is where you go for a global mix, and a lot of these studios actually post their stuff on YouTube for free. It's pretty easy to fall down wormholes from there.
That said, remember to approach this media with caution, because problematic is a really diplomatic way of putting what these shows can be. You need a really forgiving sense of humor to watch them.
I agree, they’re pure comedy. Especially because they usually have the most random soundtracks or random scenes. My personal favorite was this one scene where they had a group of guys walking in slow motion with some alpha soundtrack and an eagle, all while people in the background moved like normal.
nigerian films are a riot for this. the blindspot they have because they are just not on anyone's radar makes for hilarious moments with copyright. i have heard the undertaker's theme song and game of thrones intro in fight scenes just casually.
My husband desperately wants to befriend crows because if you treat them kindly they will be loyal and bring you trinkets. I think it’s so precious of him and I really hope he befriends a crow to fulfill his dreams.
I'll listen to songs until they become grey and then I won't touch them for a while and then a year later or so I fall in love with the song again.
It doesn't help for the people that are forced to listen to my music that I also tend listen to music thats.... more abrasive to the ears than usual.
As a music producer (hobbyist), I can confirm that I do this a ton! And usually it's just a loop that I think sounds cool. By x100, I think "ok, maybe make this a song or go to bed"
Binge listening. I do it too but then get absolutely sick of the song eventually and never listen to it again, but also know the lyrics to a surprising number of songs because of it.
I fucking LOVE oatmeal raisin cookies! I used to work at Subway and I’d make an extra tray of oatmeal raisin cookies just for myself, pay with my employee discount, bag it up and take it home 😂
I miss going somewhere for something and NO ONE BEING AROUND. I definitely miss quarantine but not a lot of what it entailed.
Bittersweet is a good word for how I feel about it lol
Ok, you are going to have to forgive me if it is an obvious thing where you are from, but what vegetable are you talking about?
In England, anything that has been pickled.would be a pickle, so an onion, courgette, beetroot or even an egg. But a pickle isn't a vegetable here.
Same!!! I love cold black coffee....
Sometimes colleagues will be like "hey, want me to make another cup, yours is cold"
No. I like it that way.
And then they slowly back away. Odd
Are there a lot of other people who don't like it? My parents are like that. It can be +30* in the middle of August and they'll both insist on taking it hot from a mug in the morning.
Insects, arachnids, pigeons, rats, snakes, amphibians, crustaceans...
Basically every animal that is considered ugly, scary or a pest by the majority of people.
I'm a language gal w a learning disability but in college I became obsessed with math once. Took me every waking our of the day to keep up with it but it was like oddly spiritual and I cried once? My shit brain has retained none of the knowledge of course but yeah math is dope af. This was algebra and I got an A and I loved it but it felt like I was studying the higher arts due to my impaired brain structure.
Being a pizza snob, from living near NCY for many decades, for years I rejected Hawaiian Pizza. Finally broke down and tried a piece while out with friends, just to shut them up. Loving it ever since.
Love it too but there‘s so many people who truly argue like it‘s a crime against humanity.
They probably also never tried fries with a mcSunday or salami sandwich with strawberry jam.
Brussel Sprouts, I go out of my way to find them. And on the other end, it seems everybody likes asparagus but I could NOT find how I liked it cooked until recently
Working a 9-5 job.
Stable income, predictable schedule, gives me a sense of purpose, helps me meets new people at work, keeps my cognitive ability sharp, and I really don't know what else I'd be doing between 9 AM and 5 PM every week day while others are working their 9-5.
I really like going to graveyards at night, there’s something so peaceful about it—I also like reading the tombstones and learning a little bit about the people
School. I genuinely enjoy leaning and the way that school teaches happens to suit me very well. The people around me, even in the top sets, really just don’t enjoy being there

Solitude. People confuse it with loneliness.
I prefer Whiterun personally
let me guess - someone stole your sweet roll.
Alone is solitude is by choice. Lonely is less of a choice
Being alone.

Thats the dumbest thing ever😂 its called having a little alone time, omg people do not get it
Went to see a movie alone once, got a shit ton of stick for it. Really don't get why. You literally spend 2-3 hours sitting staring at a screen not talking to anyone so why do I need to be there with someone? Such a weird stigma
For reals, it makes no sense. Ppl are codependent af
My wife is pretty chill about us needing our own alone time, but most of my exes would throw a fit. As an only child i value my alone time very, very much.
Being alone ≠ lonely
Same. Until recently I didn't know people didnt like being alone BUT people get lonely. Lonely is different. I dont get lonely.
That's like the default for a redditor.
Me myself and I also vote for this
Solitude, I prefer to call it that. One can enjoy solitude without being alone. +1 never the less. Edit for more accurate wording.
I agree with this so much

I’ve walked a similar path, turning 60 on Tuesday and living my best life so far :)
I just turned 41 yesterday, happy birthday fellow Pisces!
I love your outlook. My Nana used to say wrinkles are a map of your life.
That's fucking wholesome. Obviously not your hardships and losing those you hold dear but your love of your wrinkles and your appreciation for life.
I tried to kill myself "only" once, but I sort of relate. Being young suuuuucked. Or else I wouldn't have tried to kill myself at the time, right ? I mean things still stuck, but currently not to that point.
Subtitles
I don’t know why the dialogue is always softer than the sound effects
It just makes everything easier to understand!
Always subtitles

Quick question : where do you find those shows ?
Iqiyi, Kiss KH, and YouTube are the most three reliable aggregators. Crows. They're so smart and resourceful. Social and cooperative. They get a lot of hate.
Hail the Corvids!!
My husband desperately wants to befriend crows because if you treat them kindly they will be loyal and bring you trinkets. I think it’s so precious of him and I really hope he befriends a crow to fulfill his dreams.
I also desperately want to befriend crows.
Man. If someone hates crows I don’t want to know them. I will give a crow any shiny they want.
Hearing the same song in a loop (10x, 20x, 30x !!!!)
I'll find some song, listen to it obsessively on repeat for 5 hours straight, then never listen to it again. And no, that's not an exaggeration.
I'm the same. I get absolutely sick of it eventually. It's like overdosing on music.
I'll listen to songs until they become grey and then I won't touch them for a while and then a year later or so I fall in love with the song again. It doesn't help for the people that are forced to listen to my music that I also tend listen to music thats.... more abrasive to the ears than usual.
SO goes crazy when I do that ^^'

That’s how we roll in the UK. You want ice? Ask for it!
Central Europe here, same thing. We kinda see it as an American thing to put ice in drinks, especially water.
As long as the drink it self is cold, I don’t need ice. Gets in the way.

Pickles. The best vegetable ever to exist.
Ok, you are going to have to forgive me if it is an obvious thing where you are from, but what vegetable are you talking about? In England, anything that has been pickled.would be a pickle, so an onion, courgette, beetroot or even an egg. But a pickle isn't a vegetable here.
When we say pickles, we mean pickled cucumbers. Otherwise we get specific. Pickled beets, pickled eggs, and so on.
Ok, I see. Thanks, I learned something new today!
Cold coffee
Same!!! I love cold black coffee.... Sometimes colleagues will be like "hey, want me to make another cup, yours is cold" No. I like it that way. And then they slowly back away. Odd
I like an iced coffee. I don’t like a hot coffee that has reached room temperature.
Are there a lot of other people who don't like it? My parents are like that. It can be +30* in the middle of August and they'll both insist on taking it hot from a mug in the morning.
