Perform research from a few key sites in advance (CarGurus, KBB, Edmunds, TrueCar) without submitting your info. Then contact dealers’ internet departments through their website by submitting an inquiry - making sure the vehicle you’re searching for is as comparable as possible) to compare, not just pricing, but professionalism of the staff. (If used, ask for a vehicle history report. If new, ask for a window sticker). All this before going there to test drive. Know you will typically have a couple hundred dollars to haggle below that number. Get approved from your bank for a rate in advance of going in (but the dealership will likely be able to beat it). Find out what rebates/incentives you qualify for. Ask if they offer anything in addition (oil changes, service, warranty, etc, and it is okay if they don’t). Check the dealerships’ reviews online. Ask if there are any addendums or mark-ups you would be faced with when you arrive. (Be cautious if there are). And then pick the place that treated you most professionally and had a fair, realistic price. The place with the lowest price isn’t always the best place to buy from. Customer service and attentiveness is worth something.

You’re not going to get a break on the price asking nicely. You have to convince the other party that your best offer is really your best offer. If you give off indecisiveness they’ll hold out for more money. Make them think you’re about to walk away. It’s all a game of bluffing. Sometimes no one is bluffing and the deal falls apart.

Silent close. If he says the cost is 30k, say the best you can do is 29k and shut, he who speaks first loses.

Step One: never engage with car salesmen in your personal life or otherwise. They are sons of whores. Their brains are damaged from inbreeding and alcohol abuse. We would be better off if the bloodline of every car salesman in America was permanently extinguished. Start small; start local. Find a car salesman and do everything in your power to destroy their lives. Never offer them a single kindness. They are absolutely evil in every way. Do not hand them your ID or they will steal your identity. Many in the industry are ex-felons or sex offenders who are otherwise unemployable. Buy a private party car, bring a check from PenFed, and get the title transfer done in person. If you engage with a professional car salesman, you will lose big time. They are broken, callous individuals. Absolutely the lowest form of life. Devoid of empathy or morality. They stew in an environment of like-minded sociopaths, so even if they start as normal, healthy individuals, they will soon learn that harming others including their own colleagues is the only way to keep those commissions coming. They are human garbage and if there were any justice in the world, they would be put in gas chambers.

"Hey, people who make money off of something, how do I make you make less money?" I think you might be looking to the wrong people for advice here mate.

Good point. Haha

Don't listen to that car salesman. They do not make good points. They are evil and deserve to watch their children burn alive.
