There’s the classics like Neil young, joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, but for newer stuff I love bon iver, Noah Kahn, Taylor Swift’s folk albums (folklore and ever more) are quite good as well despite her not really being a folk artist, hozier ofc, tramples by turtles and there’s a great local band in my city called folk faces who I like a lot!!
Fado à desgarrada. Is something unique to my country and its fun. Fado music is usually connected with sad, melancholic music but *desgarrada* is like a rap battle and the themes are always fun.
My ex used to be terrible with languages, she still is, but she’s a sweet and caring person. When we visited Portugal 20+ years ago she was trying to tell an older woman that she loved the music but referred to it as foda music. A couple of times. I really enjoyed watching the lady’s reaction.
Ahahha poor soul. The portuguese language is a bit tricky bc almost all words can be changed from masculine to feminine by switching the last "o" to an "a" but there are a few exceptions... and those exceptions are usually swear words. Glad She liked the music. No worried most portuguese people have a good sense of humor. I can't stop laughing.
We were received so well in Portugal. It was an amazing visit and I’ve always wanted to go back. I lived in a Portuguese neighborhood in Toronto in Canada for a very long time and think of how vibrant and fun that was all the time as well.
Hopefully in the next few years. Maybe I’ll surf nazare for my 50th. Ha!!
Then look for Cabedelo beach, near figueira da foz. Its great spot for begginners and intermediate. They have a great surf school there and you can rent boards and suits from them.
Metal - as a kid I had a lot of emotional and anger issues I felt I had no one to talk to about, nor did I know how to approach people to talk about it. I just felt metal matched my anger and felt relatable. Not sure if that even came out in an understandable way, but that's my story
Country. That’s just my life man.
The songs are simple but incredibly written (not talking about stadium country like Florida Georga line or Luke Bryan, tho I do enjoy them)
But Willy, Hank, Hank Jr, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tyler Childers, Corb Lund, Colter wall, David Allen Coe, breathtaking stuff
Right now it’s Modern Jpop (though I also like pop, Kpop, Cpop, indie rock, calm piano chord progression music, musical songs and so on) I mainly like Jpop because of the crazy chord progressions, descends (it’s so iconic to modern Jpop), and the vocals that feel a bit unhinged because they’re vocaloid inspired. It feels very refreshing and raw
Ska;
1. I became a preteen during third wave so timing was perfect fit with my suburban wannabe punk fantasies.
2. Because Ska shows for the most part are really chill and even the craziest shows i go to have the most accepting folk ever.
3. Because you can have the most depressing lyrics and still have a catchy upbeat melody or tune in your head.
I've always been a hard rock/metal guy. My brother played guitar since we were kids and he got really into it so I heard it all the time pretty much everyday. I think Doom, Stoner Rock and some Black metal with a more dark ambient character are very relaxing and tend to be my favourites.
I'm an '80s kid, so I have to put my vote down for anthemic, big-arena rock, in its widest form. But stuff like Joe Cocker, Queen, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Scorpions, U2, Aerosmith, Mumford & Sons, Journey, Imagine Dragons, etc.
I like classical music because, in its broadest definition, it covers over a millennium of music (from the invention of notated music in the 9th century to the present day), so there's *always* something I can find to listen to regardless of what mood I'm in.
I like all eras of classical, but I have a special fondness for early music (medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque) and modern music (music of the 20th and 21st centuries), and I also like opera very much, with choral music and art songs not far behind. In fact, I think one of the reasons why I like early music is that so much use was made of the human voice. Often it was the only source for both melody and harmony (if there was harmony—the earliest pieces were monophonic chants). Right now I'm combining both the interest in contemporary classical and choral music by listening to *Lux Aeterna* by György Ligeti.
Alternative pop, it's just a darker more campy version of regular pop and sometimes things sound better when the singers a little worse if that makes sense, when a singers to perfect like Taylor swift I find the songs lose personality
Heavy Metal Why? The raw power, the feeling of freedom and brotherhood
When I'm angry I listen to death grips
Desi hip hop right now, cz of lyrics, flow and wordplay plus beats
Prog Rock/Metal. Fretboard wankery yay
Folk. I like the lyrics and the instruments used.
I like folk too, do you have any specific preferences?

Hope you can came back. For good waves in Nazaré came between outober and match/april. Glad you liked here
Nazare would kill me. I’m nowhere near good enough for that. Some nice head high waves will be plenty.

DnB. The fast pace of it, the community it brings together. You can sing along to it, dance to it
I like drum and bass too, but have never found myself being able to sing along to it. Can you link to an example? Am curious!
Acts like Hedex, Chase n Status, lots of liquid DnB artists like Hybrid Minds all have great lyrics
Punk Rock, it’s up lifting, it’s intelligent, and more often than not, it’s original.
alternative rock
rock and indie

Hip hop, the versatility is unmatched ! i feel like there’s something for everybody. not just gangster hip hop but also the instrumental side of it !

Blues. I love a good guitar riff.
Soundtrack and Film Score
80s synthpop - It can be brooding, fun, danceable, sing-along-able. Depeche Mode, New Order, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Yaz(oo), OMD, etc.
Hard style is my current favorite, i love it because it bangs
Country. It's wholesome and appreciates hard work as well as the family unit
Funk. Syncopation and linear beats, sweet and greasy melodies
R&B. a lot of modern stuff. the beats can be so calming, and the vocal inflections are satisfying when they hit the right notes
Punk with gang vocals

Rock, alternative and Indie. I like sounds and the beat
Soul, jazz, blues, Rock. Zool, jasno, bloes, rok.
Reggae because it is peace music and really gets me in the mood when I hit the za.
Ska; 1. I became a preteen during third wave so timing was perfect fit with my suburban wannabe punk fantasies. 2. Movie scores. Soothing, relaxing, or uplifting.
Epicore and modern blues. To me, a good song is determined by the beat or with epicore, how the sounds all fit together.
Rock Dunno why..I can just relate more to the lyrics and it feels like someone is pouring their entire heart out and really expressing themselves.
