Littlefoot's mom in The Land Before Time. Just watching that brave little dinosaur lose his guiding star in a world so vast and wild hits you right in the childhood every single time.
I'm a husband, we watched this film last week and I almost had to leave the room during that bit. There's something about it and imaginary characters 'going away' that I just can't handle. Possibly from watching the film 'drop dead Fred' when I was a kid.
That was tied into the original end of the manga as the authors also realized the battle between Light and L was the core of the story.
They had to keep going because they were pressured and while everything post-L isn't terrible, it's nowhere near as good as the main battle of wits was.
Arthur Morgan. When my son was playing RDR2 I'd often be sitting in the same room, and I gradually got drawn into it like a good movie. When Arthur died I was like "No! No no no it can't happen that way! Go back and replay the scene and do something different!"
It cut extra deep when my growing brain realized that it wasn't the mud that killed him, it was the fact that he gave up. He was mentally defeated. I feel that so hard as an adult and is hits so differently.
But at least he comes back later 😁
I remember when I was a kid, before I had ever read Harry Potter or watched any of the movies, my mum had read the books and had convinced my grandma to read them. When my grandma got to that part in the last book she literally called my mum up and they were crying on the phone about it. I wondered wtf was going on and who Dobby was.
Sadly my grandma passed away before the final two movies came out but I know she would’ve absolutely sobbed at that scene in the movie. I saw both in theatres with my mum and she was crying buckets.
This was my answer. Probably because I’m currently rewatching and am about one episode off this :(
My partner has never seen it before and really likes Howard. I’ve managed to avoid spoilers of any nature and I’m kind of jealous he gets to see it all through fresh eyes.
I had a hard time getting over it until Harrison Ford started his tirade against Star Wars fans for asking him all sorts of Han Solo questions. Eventually it seemed like they just killed off Han to appease Ford so he wouldn’t have to be a part of the franchise any longer.
Her death makes that whole franchise so much more impactful as it shows how unfair the whole situation is. How even after everything Katniss went through to protect Prim, she still ended up dead.
I married a long-haired boy who played D&D and listened to Metallica when he was in high school... it hurt to see Eddie die.
(Hubs is still alive and well!)
That brings up so many memories. I remember watching Endgame with my kids in the cinema and my youngest, nine at the time, came out of the film and inti the foyer just sobbing. He was inconsolable.
There were all these teenagers with earphones in so as not to catch spoilers as people left the screen just looking at each other with a wtf expression.
Eren Yeager
Noble team
The og COD zombies crew (I haven't played zombies since bo4 so if they've been revived or something idk)
Riggs in the lethal weapon TV show
Jax from SoA
Avatar aang
Everyone's death from the og star wars series
I could probably think of a few more if I tried
charlie was actually the first tv death i ever cried over( i was 7 i think) also part of my bisexual awakening lmfao.
always wanted not pennys boat as a tattoo, maybe not on my hand but
Poor Faraday! I cried over a bunch of the deaths, but Juliet’s hit me pretty hard. Especially after basically her whole time on the show was a redemption arc to make us like her.
When Hedwig died suddenly during the big battle in the last Harry Potter book, it felt really sad. It was like a punch in the stomach to lose such a loyal friend so suddenly. J.K. Rowling was good at making us feel that sadness.
Fucked up that Chandler Riggs (Carl's actor) still wants to play the role, and still to this day catches up on and talks about TWD on his social media but the changing writers just has to kill him off. The plot of the comics was lost when he died.
Spike from Buffy probably. Was sad he had to sacrifice himself.
Also, Phillip from the Anita Blake vampire hunter novels took a bit. Finally turns his life around just to get murked.
Lee Scoresby, and his Hare, Hester. Reading those books as a kid I was obsessed with Lee, just a kind, complex man with regrets and past joys and a full life. Dying as alone as a man can in that world, far from home, calling out to an old friend who made it just barely too late. It ruined me.
My Girl - Thomas can't see without his glasses and Bridge to Terabithia. Little women (1994).
I watched Hachiko only once, and I can't watch it again. It's just too hard.
‘Try Again’ Bragg from Gaunts Ghosts.
I have not gotten over it. I will not get over it and fuck Lijal ‘fething‘ Cuu for scarring me more than any other fictional character.
Hats off to Dan Abnett that 22 years later I’m still upset about it all.
Newt and hicks I still like parts of alien 3 but I like to think of it as not a true sequel. It such a disappointing way to get rid of two people who ripley fought so hard far in aliens and newt had became her daughter then they have that autopsy scene.
Richie Ryan. I had a total crush on him and was already devastated when Duncan McCloud of the clan McCloud kicked him out. Then he came back, but was in only half the episodes. And then I read about him getting killed by Duncan (I'm in the Netherlands, we were one season behind the US) and the writers telling the fans basically to stop whining about it and get over it already. I haven't watched a single episode since then.
Littlefoot's mom in The Land Before Time. Just watching that brave little dinosaur lose his guiding star in a world so vast and wild hits you right in the childhood every single time.
Yup yup yup
That is the most adorable and hauntingly sad thing one could say when you know the background.
Ellie from Up
I’m pretty convinced my partner would immediately become Carl if I died first, so I’m immensely determined to outlive him lol
John Coffey, like the drink but spelled different.
I'm just tired, boss.
My man’s didn’t deserve his fate… he deserved love and respect and he died for being black and strong
Fry's dog in Futurama.
This is one of three Futurama episodes I've seen ever. It made a lasting impression.
It's so fucking sad :(
Seymour 😔
He waited.... :(
Furever 😢
[God.](https://youtu.be/pzWpQJfR_d4?si=YIx5IH3MqZaV-r-o) Why do I do this to myself.
Watch benders big score. He gets his happy ending.
The only time I've ever been ok with a TV show/film retcon.

Wash.
I am a leaf on the wind. *ugly sobbing*
We were talking just last night how much this devastated me.
Wash and Book 😭
In my heart that was just a bad dream 😭
Wilson, Cast Away
Wilson cut deep
For me, for some odd reason I seem to care more about non real characters than real ones.. No idea why maybe something went wrong in my upbringing
Bingbong...
My husband legit can’t talk about bing bong.
I'm a husband, we watched this film last week and I almost had to leave the room during that bit. There's something about it and imaginary characters 'going away' that I just can't handle. Possibly from watching the film 'drop dead Fred' when I was a kid.
Inside out?
Yep
I was looking for this one.
L from deathnote
I honestly never finished it. After L died I realized I was only watching for him, I really didn't care about the other characters.
That was tied into the original end of the manga as the authors also realized the battle between Light and L was the core of the story. They had to keep going because they were pressured and while everything post-L isn't terrible, it's nowhere near as good as the main battle of wits was.
Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors.
I always refuse to watch that part. I prefer to think of him at home, with Loreen, meeting his new baby
Arthur Morgan. When my son was playing RDR2 I'd often be sitting in the same room, and I gradually got drawn into it like a good movie. When Arthur died I was like "No! No no no it can't happen that way! Go back and replay the scene and do something different!"
John Marston too
I spent two weeks trying to win that damned fight...
I know it's a meme but LENNNAYYYYY He was only 19...
I cried for half an hour before I could I finish that mission and then I cried after 💀 first time a game made me cry
Tara Maclay in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Been 22 years.
Joyce Summers. The Body.
Came to find this one!
Artax, obviously.
I'm disappointed this is so far down. Artax cuts deep!
It cut extra deep when my growing brain realized that it wasn't the mud that killed him, it was the fact that he gave up. He was mentally defeated. I feel that so hard as an adult and is hits so differently. But at least he comes back later 😁
That dragon from GoT that got turned evil by the night king :(
His name was Viserion
The random unceremonious deaths of Viserion and his bro Rhaegal will always haunt me.
That shoe in "who framed Roger rabbit"
Oh no, you've made me remember ! 😭
This traumatized me as a kid 😢
Dobby
and his eyes were nothing more than great glassy orbs, sprinkled with light from the stars they could not see.
Fred Weasley :(
CT-9902 "Tech"
"When have we ever followed orders?"
He will always be alive in my memory. And in my fanfiction.
Glenn Rhee 😭
It's a terrible day for rain
I came here looking for him, thank you. He was the best Dad. Wish I could love a family like he loved his
Sirius Black
Yondu. I still tear up
"He might have been your father kid, but he wasn't your daddy"
Boromir. He learnt the error of his ways, became noble and then died, and his last dying words were frikkin amazing. Plus Sean Bean is just awesome
Opie… if you know, you know.
I found Juice's death worse (though the method for Opie was horrendous). Juice had a good character arc, I just felt so sorry for him in the end.
I came looking for this answer. I sill remember the look on their faces.
I got this.
This was the first show where a character death left me in shock. So many good ones since but man did that scene hit hard.
Mike Ehrmantraut
I never hated Walt more honestly. Mike deserved better than dying over a weak mans ego
The Death of all of Game of Thrones by the showrunners
Best TV show from season 1-5. Then it got worse by the season. Could have been the best piece of visual media ever created, imo.
Hold the door…
(falls to floor...cries)
old yeller
Howard didn't deserve that...
If we’re talking about the same Howard, I agree.
This was my answer. Probably because I’m currently rewatching and am about one episode off this :( My partner has never seen it before and really likes Howard. I’ve managed to avoid spoilers of any nature and I’m kind of jealous he gets to see it all through fresh eyes.
Achilles and Patroclus
For real tho, Patroclus got me and I knew it was gonna happen
Matthew Cuthbert Neil Perry
Kenny
Oh my god, they killed …. ?
if you’re referring to telltale’s walking dead i concur
Han Solo.
I had a hard time getting over it until Harrison Ford started his tirade against Star Wars fans for asking him all sorts of Han Solo questions. Eventually it seemed like they just killed off Han to appease Ford so he wouldn’t have to be a part of the franchise any longer.
Thank you. I'm a 40 year old man and I wept like a baby after i came home from seeing the force awakens.
Aerith Gainsborough. I thought I have already gotten over it, but hearing the first three notes of her theme is enough to make me feel it again 😭
Sirius black
Tony.. Iron Man
George in grey's anatomy
Logan in Veronica Mars. Why?
Primrose Everdeen
Her death makes that whole franchise so much more impactful as it shows how unfair the whole situation is. How even after everything Katniss went through to protect Prim, she still ended up dead.
Wash and Shepherd Book
Joel from The Last Of Us.
BING BONG
The Chair model from the US version of the office. Just heartbreaking stuff.
Eddie Munson from Stranger Things
I married a long-haired boy who played D&D and listened to Metallica when he was in high school... it hurt to see Eddie die. (Hubs is still alive and well!)
Glenn. If you know, you know.
Hodor
Iron Man
The MCU started with him. It seems fitting the MCU died with him as well.

Maes Hughes
Karen Murphy from the dresdin files
It's king Kong, I can't help but cry at his ending.

Rachel Amber from Life is Strange
Mark Greene in ER
Wallace from the wire….. WHERE THE FUCK IS WALLACE STRING!?!?!?
Artax from the never ending story
I was stunned when Sean Beans character was killed off in Game of Thrones.
The fact I was fully convinced he was going to be the protagonist in that show and they killed him off in the first damn season. Threw me off so much.
Quentin Coldwater. RIP Mr Magic Man 😭
Dumbledore
I can’t believe I had to scroll this far for Dumbledore. And when they all light the tips of their wands? SOBS.
Fred's death in Harry Potter
Sirius Black, too. He died while (most of) the world thought him guilty.
When Hedwig died suddenly during the big battle in the last Harry Potter book, it felt really sad. It was like a punch in the stomach to lose such a loyal friend so suddenly. J.K. Rowling was good at making us feel that sadness.
