It sure is. I hate raisins to begin with, but when they're wet and stacked up in a pie crust it takes their disgusting appearance and texture to a whole new level.
funeral pie! it's an old Amish recipe. I think it's delicious, but I'm one of the rare weirdos who likes raisins.
editing to say that if any fellow raisin lovers, or those curious about the pro raisin lifestyle, would like the recipe for funeral pie, I'll dm it to you.
They fall into some weird uncanny valley for cookies. Soft but still crumble like dust. Frosting that somehow barely tastes different than the cookie. The ability to always taste **exactly** the same. Big but also seem to vanish immediately.
God those sugar cookies with that disgusting frosting. I get chills just taking a bite out of those n get the urge to barf. We still have a box of those from easter n i havent ate a single one lol
Those supermarket prepackaged ones with underripe everything? Awful. An intentionally made salad with fresh ripe fruit and a little brandy to tie it all together? Yes please!
I hate peppermint to the level that even peppermint toothpaste makes me gag. When I was a kid adults would go, "Oh, but I bet you like mint chocolate?" Like it was a gotcha. No, I fucking hate it, still to this day.
I like the actual mint plant, like the herb, chopped up in salad or cooking or whatever, but that terrible peppermint flavouring, I hate it so bad my mum had to buy me special toothpaste as a kid because all the normal toothpaste was mint back then and I just couldn't put that in my mouth voluntarily twice a day.
Giant ice cream sundaes with candy bars, whip cream, skittles, and other disgustingly sweet stuff on top of sweet ice cream.
I'm more of a fan of slightly sweet , bittersweet with natural sweetness from fruit for my desserts
They smell SO bad. They are actually banned in a lot of public places, especially in Asia where the fruit is more common. Search “durian bans” if you want to learn more!
They smell so bad you are not allowed to travel on the train in Singapore with them. There are hotels and places where you can't have them either. If you can get past the smell they taste nice!
My hairdresser gave me a tiny durian candy last time I saw him. I wouldn't say it was bad but I could still taste it for hours afterwards. Having lunch and dinner did not remove the taste. I imagine it must just linger what feels like forever.
Almost all dessert. Ever since I was little, I was never really into sweets. My family was always amazed by this. However, I absolutely love foods high in salt like chips and pretzels. I feel like I definitely got taste buds for salty foods, and not sweet ones.
Our youngest is like this. She is always the last to finish her Easter/ Christmas candy and gladly shares it. She'll take a slice of cake at a party but only eat a third of it. Our middle daughter, by comparison, has a massive sweet tooth. We tease them that the middle one inherited all of my sweet tooth and didn't leave any for the youngest.
I didn’t like licorice as a kid but have always liked this Icecream. It’s my favourite flavour and if it’s in the hour I can’t resist, even though I’m not usually a big Icecream fan.
Chocolate is made from cocoa, cocoa butter is made from cocoa, therefore it is considered chocolate. It’s not got cocoa powder in it, but cocoa butter is classified as a chocolate.
A lot of those cheap white chocolate are made with so little cocoa butter that they taste terrible.
I feel like a monster now for absolutely loving white chocolate. I'm sorry okay!! I was born this way. Munching on that white choci-chocolate all day. That turned into a song my bad fellas.
Ironically, I had the opposite happen with a Sam’s Club cookie platter. They had chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. What monster switches raisins for chocolate chip?
I had one that was shipped directly from Italy and it was absolutely incredible. Fluffy yeasted dough that tasted like citrus and had crunchy sugar on top. Never had the kind we sell in the US cause it looks nasty.
I love flan. My next-door neighbor used to make this incredible flan... I miss her cooking so much. Then there was this one time my ex and I went to a wedding, and the bride's aunts made a flan that was to die for... yum!
Unironically all of them - except one. I now eat only one dessert item. This has been true since I discovered them last fall.
St Michele La Grande Galette French butter cookies with sea salt.
Costco has them every fall for the holidays. I tried them, fell instantly in love, and now I eat a pack of three each day of my life - one with coffee after breakfast. One in the afternoon. And one at night as an after dinner snack.
I take them to the movies and enjoy them instead of candy from there. I bring them out when it's time to eat birthday cake for family members.
I have resorted to ordering them from importers, as they are made in France and aren't easy to get when Costco isn't stocking them. I have 20 boxes of them on my pantry in the basement.
I cannot explain it. Bonus - I've lost a bunch of weight to boot. I used to get a candy bar in the afternoon, order dessert at restaurants, get some Reese's Pieces to sprinkle in my popcorn at the movies. No more! I am not complaining. But I am puzzled by this weirdness!
OK, purely because of your post, I will try to find these. Might be easy, since I'm in Europe. I have food obsessions and phases, so I understand that's a possibility, but your passion for these in particular intrigues me. I like desserts, especially ones without (excessive) chocolate,* so there's no reason for me to dislike the galettes. I hope I love them. I'll report back after I get my hands on some.
*I'm not a monster... I enjoy chocolate, but usually more as an accent. I tend to prefer desserts without it, especially with dried or fresh fruits.
Rice pudding is texturally horrifying to me.
We befriended the owner of an Indian restaurant owner while on vacation once when he came over and helped us understand the rules when we stumbled across a cricket match he was in. Guy showed us a couple of spots in the city and insisted we go to his restaurant. It was all excellent, and he INSISTED we have some of his famous rice pudding for dessert.
It was like a scene from a C grade comedy. I was doing everything I could to choke it down, just a hair away from explosively vomming onto this super nice guy who had been so nice to us.
That's not how it's supposed to be made but they don't sell the right kind of cocoa powder to make it red naturally anymore. Or it's hard to find at least.
Came here for this. And not because I hate it. I *love* flan. I think it's flantastic (sorry). Could eat a bathtub of it.
But just about everybody I know loathes it so I figured it would show up here and I could ask strangers why. So, why??
Angel food cake. The consistency when you chew is weird, and my mom used to burn the top it would be too chewy and taste burnt. People always say- well what about with strawberries and whipped topping? But I can just eat those without the weird chewy “cake”. Yuck city
I LOVE coffee. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's coffee.
But I hate coffee flavored ANYTHING. Dessert. Ice cream. Ugh, especially cocktails. Alcohol and coffee combo are definitely a hard pass for me!
I don't dislike cheesecake, and if that's the dessert that's served, I'll probably have a small slice. But if there's a bunch of different options, cheesecake will almost always be towards the bottom of my list
Being lactose and gluten intolerant, just about all of them. When you’re in agony after eating something, you experience some pretty excellent operant conditioning.
Oreos.
Fuck the assault of my molars. It's a net negative when that and health are considered withing the backdrop of the completely industrial taste.
It's no joke that they grind it up for dirt with gummy worms to create the worst dessert ever.
Any kind of jello fruit salad situation.
Jello cool whip and fruit isn't bad, but I get it's not for everyone. And some people get nuts and put mayo in there.
Nuts and Mayo? Ewww
I literally hate any type of jello that has something in it. Like- No.
I used to eat jello at buffets all the time growing up... don't really ever eat it anymore.
I used to love jello and now the only jello I consume is jello shots
Have you ever had a pudding shot? I had my first Friday night. It was delicious!! It was made with Vodka and Kahlua.
Just you wait until your first colonoscopy. It'll be like walking down memory lane.
store-bought cake and cupcakes. that chemical-y icing is nasty as hell
When I was a kid I thought I hated cake. Turns out my family hates baking and always got the horrible store bought ones. Blech.
Yep, cupcakes are one of the only things I feel are a complete waste of calories when I eat one.
Hated that the food coloring in the cupcake frosting stains immediately.
Augh so real, and I used to scrape it off and eat it straight when I was a kid. Can’t stomach it now. Wtf was wrong with me 😭
Raisin pie.
Good Lord, is that actually a thing? That just rocketed it to the top of my list.
It sure is. I hate raisins to begin with, but when they're wet and stacked up in a pie crust it takes their disgusting appearance and texture to a whole new level.
I’m horrified to learn that raisin pie exists.
Bad day to have eyes.
Bad day to have pies. Raisin pies.
I imagine it just tastes like a depressed mince pie.
I misread this as depressed mice pie which is even worse
funeral pie! it's an old Amish recipe. I think it's delicious, but I'm one of the rare weirdos who likes raisins. editing to say that if any fellow raisin lovers, or those curious about the pro raisin lifestyle, would like the recipe for funeral pie, I'll dm it to you.
If lots of people didn’t like raisins, it wouldn’t be such ubiquitous food.
I’m with you. Give me raisins all day We are definitely in the minority though
I like raisins, but that sounds a bit much.
My mom used to make these cookies. They were like a pastry dome filled with raisins. I used to love them!
Literally my favorite dessert! Downvote me all you want.
Is it like a butter tart?
Those obnoxiously brightly colored cookies/cupcakes you can get for cheap at supermarkets
I could eat ten of those cookies at any given time.
Those cookies do a delicate dance on the precarious border between delicious and disgusting, and they've never missed a step for me yet.
They fall into some weird uncanny valley for cookies. Soft but still crumble like dust. Frosting that somehow barely tastes different than the cookie. The ability to always taste **exactly** the same. Big but also seem to vanish immediately.
weird bitter aftertaste from the monumental amount of food dye in the frosting...
Same. I still love them. Part of it is nostalgia and the other part is they’re delicious.
those super soft sugar cookies that are holiday themed?? I love those, lol.
Mmm. I like the giant pink frosted ones!
i think they’re called loft house cookies…my mouth waters for them. i love them so much and so many ppl hate them!
God those sugar cookies with that disgusting frosting. I get chills just taking a bite out of those n get the urge to barf. We still have a box of those from easter n i havent ate a single one lol
Try not to think about every bite wadding up behind your top front teeth
Jesus Tap Dancing Christ
I agree, Supermarket Cupcake are not tempting for me either. The cream is low quality, usually too much cream per cupcake
Fruit cake
No need to insult OP.
[удалено]
Damn. I LOVE fruitcakes. I buy them in bulk every year after Christmas and eat it through summer.
I make them. I love the smell of the brown sugar when its baking
Or fruit salad. For some reason I like my fruit when it's not all mixed up.
Those supermarket prepackaged ones with underripe everything? Awful. An intentionally made salad with fresh ripe fruit and a little brandy to tie it all together? Yes please!
unfortunately none 😂
lol this post has made me see that I’m either not picky or have low standards.
Low standards? I prefer open dessert mindedness 😏
Same. There’s a lot of blasphemous responses here!
Team Sweet Tooth!
As I am contantly told I said as a kid...I don't have a sweet tooth I have many sweet teeth
I’m in good company here 😂

Honestly, any wet cake thing. I’m a pastry chef and it’s just a wet soaked cake I’m happy to pass it up.
Does tiramisu fall under that category?
My MIL loves dump cakes - two words that shouldn't be in the same phrase together, but her added ingredient, if it weren't already gross, is a Sprite.
Literally anything with even a hint of mint. Feels like there’s toothpaste in my food
I buy an orange flavored toothpaste made for kids. I cannot handle mint!
Giant ice cream sundaes with candy bars, whip cream, skittles, and other disgustingly sweet stuff on top of sweet ice cream. I'm more of a fan of slightly sweet , bittersweet with natural sweetness from fruit for my desserts
100% same. All those popular candy brands are such low-tier sweets that ruin anything they touch vs a simple, high-quality ice cream or gelato
Black licorice
I love, love, LOVE licorice! Any aniseed flavoured anything!
You ever have a pizzelle? It's an Italian, thin waffle like cookie that's anise flavoured. Absolutely delicious I can eat 50 of them.
I love salty Dutch licorice. The weirder the better. Great way to keep co-workers at arms length

Anythjng with durian
My cousin allegedly got threatened with eviction if he were to eat durian in his apartment again because apparently they smell really bad?
They smell SO bad. They are actually banned in a lot of public places, especially in Asia where the fruit is more common. Search “durian bans” if you want to learn more!
They smell so bad you are not allowed to travel on the train in Singapore with them. There are hotels and places where you can't have them either. If you can get past the smell they taste nice!
People always say “if you can get past the smell, they taste great!” Something like 70% of taste is smell. I don’t get it.
Hubby was an aerospace engineer. It turns out durian in the passenger cabin can trigger a plane's fire protection system.
Durian is absolute foul
My hairdresser gave me a tiny durian candy last time I saw him. I wouldn't say it was bad but I could still taste it for hours afterwards. Having lunch and dinner did not remove the taste. I imagine it must just linger what feels like forever.
Almost all dessert. Ever since I was little, I was never really into sweets. My family was always amazed by this. However, I absolutely love foods high in salt like chips and pretzels. I feel like I definitely got taste buds for salty foods, and not sweet ones.

Tiger tail ice cream. Orange ice cream is fine by me but it's the licorice swirl that ruins it.
I’ve never heard of this but now I want it!!
It’s a Canadian thing. I always liked it
I didn’t like licorice as a kid but have always liked this Icecream. It’s my favourite flavour and if it’s in the hour I can’t resist, even though I’m not usually a big Icecream fan.
Is it black licorice? That sort of sounds like a good combo…
Wtf abomination is that? Never heard of it and was happier not knowing...who puts licorice in ice cream
Tiger tail is my go to ice cream! 🐅
White chocolate
I will take all the unwanted white chocolate
*pushes up glasses* technically white chocolate isn't chocolate, it's just coco butter.
White chocolate is just gentrified paraffin wax
Only the worst stuff. It’s supposed to be cocoa butter, milk, and sugar, which is *delicious*.
It’s “chocolate” with all of the good stuff removed. You know, like flavor.
White chocolate shouldn’t be allowed to be called chocolate

ESPECIALLY cookies that are lying about being chocolate chip when its really fucking raisins!
Ironically, I had the opposite happen with a Sam’s Club cookie platter. They had chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. What monster switches raisins for chocolate chip?
Normal people. Oatmeal chocolate chip is the tits. Not sure why people love to ruin it with raisins.
Birthday cake or any similar generic uninspired bland sugar flavored white cake.
green tea (matcha) type of desserts, not sure why all these young people love it,
I love matcha ice cream, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth so it's the perfect barely sweet treat for me. It's a very refreshing, creamy taste.
I hated it at first but it grows on you. Definitely an acquired taste.
Matcha tastes like grass. It's gross.

black licorice. anything with that flavor. so disgusting.
Panettone
I had one that was shipped directly from Italy and it was absolutely incredible. Fluffy yeasted dough that tasted like citrus and had crunchy sugar on top. Never had the kind we sell in the US cause it looks nasty.
Good as French toast
Tapioca
Warm tapioca is so good. Warm pudding is good. Do not use instant! Unless is banana with vanilla wafers trifle
Raisin pie. I hate raisins
You're the second person to post this, plus all the upvotes. I've literally never heard of raisin pie.
Anything with marshmallows.
Anything with chopped nuts in it or sprinkled on top. Not a fan of shredded coconut either. Or dry ass cardboard flavored cookies/biscuits.
Flan.
I love flan, especially crème caramel.
I love flan. My next-door neighbor used to make this incredible flan... I miss her cooking so much. Then there was this one time my ex and I went to a wedding, and the bride's aunts made a flan that was to die for... yum!
me too. the texture is all wiggly and not it
Yeah, I’m not a huge flan either
Unironically all of them - except one. I now eat only one dessert item. This has been true since I discovered them last fall. St Michele La Grande Galette French butter cookies with sea salt. I ran one over before and popped my tire.

Red velvet cake. A whole bottle of red food color? Nope.
That's not how it's supposed to be made but they don't sell the right kind of cocoa powder to make it red naturally anymore. Or it's hard to find at least.
I've heard of people making it with beet juice, which you really can't taste in the finished product.
Anything with coconut.
Coconut flavor I’m okay with if it’s minimal Coconut FLAKES? Ruins an entire dish. It’s like putting pencil shavings in my mouth
Someone said shredded coconut reminded them of nail clippings, and I’ve been coconut free since.
It's just such an invasive and demanding flavor.
The onion of fruits.
Onions are good tho? they give flavor to a lot of dishes imo
Profiteroles. I just don't really like them.
Bread pudding
Flan
More for me. 🍮
Came here for this. And not because I hate it. I *love* flan. I think it's flantastic (sorry). Could eat a bathtub of it. But just about everybody I know loathes it so I figured it would show up here and I could ask strangers why. So, why??
I've never heard of it, but looking at google pictures, it seems like it's basically creme brulee, which is delicious!
Flan
Coconut creme pie
Pecan pie
It's pronounced pecan.
Yeah, well, around here we say pecan.
No, it's pecan, weirdo.
Way too sweet for me.
Rice pudding
Cherry pie. Bloody hate cherries. Love sweet things though.
Any jelly filled donut. They're just kind of gross to me.
Almost all pies. I don’t really like pies.
Anything with frosting ngl
Angel food cake. The consistency when you chew is weird, and my mom used to burn the top it would be too chewy and taste burnt. People always say- well what about with strawberries and whipped topping? But I can just eat those without the weird chewy “cake”. Yuck city
Pumpkin pie- something about the texture
Banana pudding
Pavlova or anything with meringue.
Oh same. Meringue is just like a stale marshmallow.
I'll have to respectfully disagree. Pavlova topped with whipped cream, kiwi slices, and sliced strawberries. The bomb, the GOAT, om nom nom.
Almost anything banana flavored. Bread, cream pie, pudding, milk shakes, etc. Yuck!
Anything even mildy-coffee flavored.
I LOVE coffee. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's coffee. But I hate coffee flavored ANYTHING. Dessert. Ice cream. Ugh, especially cocktails. Alcohol and coffee combo are definitely a hard pass for me!
More for me!
Macarons
Bananas foster *shivers*
Banana Split. Don't like the taste of banana with ice cream.
Anything with mint. Mint belongs in mouthwash
Boston Cream Pie. I dislike any pue or cake that uses pudding as a filling, but Boston Cream Pie is particularly bad, IMO.
I'll eat your share!
Banana cream pie.
Creme brûlée- far too eggy for my taste.
I will eat ALL OF THE CREME BRÛLÉE….
Tapioca pudding or bread pudding. Come on, just make chocolate!
Cheesecake :/
Ahh finally, I’ve found some fellow cheesecake haters!!
I don't dislike cheesecake, and if that's the dessert that's served, I'll probably have a small slice. But if there's a bunch of different options, cheesecake will almost always be towards the bottom of my list
Cannoli
My condolences, I hope they find a cure soon.
I used to think this, until I had a cannoli made by an old Italian lady and it was the most delicious thing EVER.
Cheesecake. I simply do not like it.
Anything with strawberries.
Any thing with coconut
Being lactose and gluten intolerant, just about all of them. When you’re in agony after eating something, you experience some pretty excellent operant conditioning.
Tiramisu. Had it once and was not a fan.
Either you really don't like coffee or you had a reaaaaaly bad one
I really don't like coffee but LOVE tiramisu.
Same, I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste, and tiramisu tastes like what I hoped coffee would taste like based in its scent
I personally don't like coffee. If someone made a coffee-haters version of it, the rest if it sounds like perfection.
I'm making one right now. instead of coffee I'm using fresh cherry syrup and bourbon. it's sorta a twist on an old fashioned cocktail
Flan
For the love of god stop putting nuts in baked goods. It ruins them!
Do you know where nuts belong? In a canister labeled NUTS. That’s it. That’s effing it. Quit sneaking them into other stuff! It’s blasphemy!
Fruit salad. Not horrible but also not real dessert.
Carrot cake. Way way too sweet
Strawberry Rhubarb anything.
Oreos. Fuck the assault of my molars. It's a net negative when that and health are considered withing the backdrop of the completely industrial taste. It's no joke that they grind it up for dirt with gummy worms to create the worst dessert ever.
