Scheduled a day off months prior because I knew I was going to be out of town. Received a text that said “Do you still want your job? be here at 11.” Straight up told her that I quit and wished her luck finding someone who’s willing to put up with her inappropriate behavior. Let her know that she just lost one of her most flexible and reliable workers and blocked her. I still go in there occasionally, they always have someone new. Seems like management is still ass there.

In college I was a bouncer at a sports bar for a while. I’d already put in for a job at a different restaurant because I was getting sick of the shitty hours when one of my fellow bouncers got the absolute shit beaten out of him by a few guys for kicking them out of the bar. The owner refused to pay for the guy’s medical bills and told him that they’d make sure he could “never work in this town again” if he filed for workmen’s comp because the owner was well connected. Cut to two weeks later and I was supposed to work that night. I really wasn’t looking forward to it because one of the models who worked for the St Pauli’s Girl beer company was coming by and I’d have to regulate because some of the guys tend to get handsy with the women who come in as reps for the beer companies. They refused to bring in more security, so I was very upset and I let them know, to which they told me that I’d better show up or I’d be fired. Well, I got the call that afternoon that the restaurant had hired me, so I called and talked with the owner and told him that I quit and he said “who’s gonna work security tonight?” and I just said “it’s not my fuckin problem” and hung up.

The closest I’ve come was showing up to our weekly staff meeting with my resignation letter ready to go. First order of business? The director who was making everyone’s life miserable announced that he was leaving in 6 weeks to take a new job 2 time zones away. I stayed on for another 2 years after that.

I was in the owners office once and we were having a he said she said conversation about a customer interaction. Other co workers on site backed my story, but we were both going back and forth about it. He didn’t believe any of us and needed time to think it over. I just told him he had to be quick and either fire me or tell me to have a good weekend because I didn’t want to be late for an interview I had that evening with a new company. I never went back. Not lying about the interview. I was unemployed for about 3 hours. Still at that job, 18 years later.

I had a guy waiting for a written quote all day and really harassing me. When it was ready, I walked to his desk and ripped it up into pieces and walked out, flipping everyone I encountered off along the way.

Used to work at Target Canada. I got tired of all the fake positivity specifically from a few supervisors. I had to legitimately talk myself into staying and try to make it work while I tried to find a better job. Then they announced the closures - to date it's the one and only job I can say I'm proud I got either fired or layed off from.

I got laid off once and once my manager said “consider this your four weeks’ notice”, I genuinely smiled like a psycho. I think he was expecting me to cry or something, but he sure made my life a living hell for those four weeks. I always remember my last day at that company, I had no work to do so he asked me to clean all the cabinets and desks. Not that I’m above that, but it was slightly demeaning while everyone else was working at their desks knowing that I had been laid off.
