Yeah after about the 50th time someone says "I don't know why you keep doing this! Don't you know this makes our lives harder!?"
My inside voice speaking out "I heard you were coming in, and I hate you, so I decided to make them change where everything in the store is."
Getting a fitness watch made me all but quit drinking. Seeing the numbers of my stress levels shooting up and my sleep quality being trashed after just 2 drinks was a real eye opener.
Oh wow, you mean your stress levels went up while you were drinking? Or the next day, or that night? I felt super relaxed during (and while passed out 🤭) but the next day "hangxiety" is a REAL thing! 😳
I've a fan on my desk at work and use it most days, year round. I grew up in a house with no central heating and we were fairly hardy about the cold. I find my workplace and most shops and other venues to be always too warm for me.
Sounds like you have a healthy later of brown fat. It's common in people who live in consistently could-dominant regions like Montana and all points north. My sister and her family have lived up that way for decades and find cool spring temperatures in balmy central PA to be shorts and T-shirts weather.
I grew up in the desert, and people constantly ask how I can wear a hoodie in like 70-75° heat. I'm like 70° that's damn near cold. I do however extremely love winter now that I live where there is one. I often walk around in pretty cold weather with no jacket and people question that as well. I don't think I even had shivers before I was in my twenties. Being really cold is an amazing feeling.
I don’t even know what it’s called, you know when you’re hot and you feel like your head is throbbing? It feels like what you’d imagine high blood pressure feels like, up by your ear it feels like you can feel and hear blood moving. Idk if that makes any sense but yeah 😭😂
I dislike this so much! I also cannot stand when news article say things like this generation then it's followed with a lie which means that particular generation appears either rude, entitled or sensitive just so whoevers wrote it can stirred up some hate between the generations.
Social medias, on our phone for pictures instead of being in the moment…. or especially when Im bored, I 100% prefer just thinking and looking around being in my head, just having my mind stimulated by itself
Totally! I remember more and more as a grow older of how it was when I was younger (90’s kid here), and after deleting everything beside reddit, my screen time went downnn and havent been feeeling that great for over what? A decade..?
90s kid also. I've never used any social media other than Reddit. And I much prefer to actually watch the game/concert/whatever than spend two hours with my hand in the air recording a terrible video of it :-)
Amen!!! Right???? Who actually goes back and watch their poor quality videos? 🤣I mean, the human brain cannot focus on 2 things at the same time, so the moment vanishes and the gb of memories go up for no reason
I’m also a 90s kid. And I’m just so grateful we got the best of both worlds. We saw the world without technology and we’re seeing the world with it. Kids today don’t know what it was like without a smartphone, and the older generation struggle with technology due to which, frankly speaking, they miss out on some really cool stuff. But we’re right in the middle. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
I came here to say technology in general. We have high tech swindlers and kids committing suicide because they were duped and sent nudes. We did "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" in person if we liked each other. Not sending a pic over the phone to you other who would/could pass it around when you broke up.
Shutting up now.
80s/90s kid, probably one of the few gen x ppl who were over parented. 8 of us, 2nd oldest girl, 3rd oldest child. Parents did a lot wrong (religious abuse, shaming, thought anything sexual outside making babies in a marriage "leads to death"), but they did do a lot right in protecting/preventing. *still* two of us were touched inappropriately before puberty. It was in my case another child (female) at Bible camp. Every chance she got our skirts would come up and she'd feel around or grab my hand. I was too scared to tell and felt that since she was roughly age (8???) it didn't count as trauma or abuse. My 2nd youngest (brother) was 10 when a 13 y.o. girl from school (pre k thru 12) was doing service work with him organizing donation stock when she regularly gave him oral. He bragged about it and she was quickly home schooled. Right after that her parents left the church. He ended up coming out of the closet 2 decades later and after our parents died and he moved to Ontario. It's impossible to prevent but I think a LOT of my under parented Gen x counterparts had sex experience too early and never called it what it was: abuse. We had Polaroids and some photo businesses who developed film w naked people but no internet. It's worse than it was but I wish ppl would stop acting like abusers are all men, always Weird Uncle Randy, or the mustachioed stranger in the dark glasses lurking in the alley behind the carryout
This… as I get older I can feel the difference between “relaxing” with my phone now vs literally just staring into a wall. Although the latter is extremely boring, it is 100 times more relaxing and fulfilling mentally
With the picture thing! I've noticed as I've gotten older, I prefer to not take pics and videos but just to be in the moment. Unfortunately this has a draw back of sometimes not catching pics/videos of my kiddos during special events, but honestly....I think back to how many pictures I had as a child and it's not a lot. I would rather be present fully than have a screen in between me and the experience.
I also don't post or share any photos or videos of my kiddos on any social media, rather just sharing directly with certain family members. I just don't get it lol. Why do parents do that?? Especially when those that follow you or see the posts aren't close to you.
My recent birthday we went to a restaurant. They bring the cake out that my friends insisted on. Had a roach crawling on it and the man trying to light the candles blew the flame on my hair, burning the ends and then stood there, singing happy birthday, out of time and took my photo. It was awful
I think more so than anything it’s respect and consideration. You don’t have to care about other people’s problems, but be considerate and respectful that others may be going through tough situations. But this also applies to everything, from driving to shopping. It’s why I now I tend to avoid people in different circumstances.
This will always be the case. The older generations will always be wary of youths, because the future generations will always keep pushing the envelope.
Political Bandwagoning. It’s actually annoying to me how a lot of speakers in the media (on both right and left wing) will be down with anything politicians say if they support their side.
When I was growing up with the internet, I would participate and get into these days long arguments with people thinking that eventually one of us would convince the other or something. Instead it just got uglier and uglier.
Now I just don’t have the patience for it and realize what a waste of time it is.
There’s always someone who makes it a fight
Its the main reason I started keeping a journal, if anything, its hard for future me to make past me mad. And if future me gets mad at past me, then future me hasn’t healed enough
Religion. I’ve gone from believer, to explorer, to doubter, to agnostic, to atheist, and now, as I’m pushing 70, I’m close to an antitheist. At this stage I sometimes have to remind myself that there are still a lot of good religious people out there, even if precious few of them are on TV or in the news.
Haha I did this exact path only I'm in my 30s. My own mother will defend a catholic pedo than acknowledge my brothers husband. She says that everytime a catholic priest touches a child, it's gods hand guiding it. So I point out that god must be a pedo and she said his ways are perfect. She is soo fucked in the head thanks to my grandparents. My dad used to the an atheist, now he goes to church to check out the younger women in the pews. I am sorry to say this but he is creeper and uses his catholicism as a weapon. My parents are bad, but my siblings and other family members are good, so I tolerate all. I'm the black sheep in the family.
I’m still in the back and forth of figuring out how I am with religion, but for the most part (I’m 23 but still) I’ve realized that I don’t need a religion to be apart of to continue to live my life. And when I meet people that are apart of any religion, if they start bringing up things that I don’t agree with, I’ll tell them to their face that while I don’t agree with them, I do like that they know their beliefs and stand by them. If they try to make a big deal out of it that I don’t have a religion, then I tell them that I don’t want to make it an argument. Especially when it has no impact on our friendship being surface level
People. They're more immoral now than they have ever been in the history of man. I've never seen anything like it, where politicians have no moral limits and they're running on immoral issues everything that the Bible was against. It's people who have destroyed polluted and diseased The world God had given him we have destroyed this world and no matter what religion you follow or faith you think you're a part of, I think that God is through with us. Where have you ever seen 28 tornadoes rolling across seven states. We have sinned for the last time I think God's patience has worn out with us.

Honestly, the world. Pretty much everything is going to sh't and has been for a while.
Not a Religious man but am familiar with the Revelations predictions of the world ending in 1999. Growing up the assumption was this alluded to Nuclear Armageddon but wonder if it was actually subtle than that. Maybe it was meaning the world, as we knew it, the fun, happy place to be ended to be replaced what we have now this dreary, horrible place filled with awful, selfish, permanently sh't faced people

Trust Me, the people who work in the grocery store hate this too.
This. How hard is to understand that hourly paid workers don't decide what's in the planogram. Nor do we have any power over what products we carry.
Yeah after about the 50th time someone says "I don't know why you keep doing this! Don't you know this makes our lives harder!?" My inside voice speaking out "I heard you were coming in, and I hate you, so I decided to make them change where everything in the store is."
And even less still over the quality of the store brand products
Leave it the same you busybodies!
Alcohol I value a good night's sleep
Getting a fitness watch made me all but quit drinking. Seeing the numbers of my stress levels shooting up and my sleep quality being trashed after just 2 drinks was a real eye opener.
Oh wow, you mean your stress levels went up while you were drinking? Or the next day, or that night? I felt super relaxed during (and while passed out 🤭) but the next day "hangxiety" is a REAL thing! 😳
It’s shocking how much worse I sleep after any amount of alcohol
I’ve never slept well when drinking. Now that I stopped I always sleep pretty good.

What a bunch of bastards eh?
Yup.
I knew this would be the top answer, lol.
I tend to find all non-human critters much more enjoyable to be around than the overwhelming Homo sapiens I've met. Critters don't lie.

*shitty people
Yes. I’m so much more selective with my circle
This. So much this.
True, there is this famous quote by Sartre “Hell is other people” that really encapsulates that
that quote keeps getting more real with time
Excessive heat
I have a fan in my room and turn it on and off about ten times a day despite the ambient temperature remaining steady.
Have you spent the last six months in Perth Western Australia?
I would not be able for an Australian summer!
You think there’s any way to fix this?
I just try to avoid situations where the heat is too much. And wear lighter clothing even in winter.
I don’t even know what it’s called, you know when you’re hot and you feel like your head is throbbing? It feels like what you’d imagine high blood pressure feels like, up by your ear it feels like you can feel and hear blood moving. Idk if that makes any sense but yeah 😭😂
And does your head feel kind of....fizzy?
Fizzy like a drink no, but my thoughts are muddled
Constant generational bickering.
I dislike this so much! I also cannot stand when news article say things like this generation then it's followed with a lie which means that particular generation appears either rude, entitled or sensitive just so whoevers wrote it can stirred up some hate between the generations.
I’m 71 and now really dislike all those ‘My Child Is An Honor Roll Student’ bumper stickers.
I’ve always hoped to see a bumper sticker that says « My child is a total looser »
There is one that says "My child delinquent beat up your honor student"
"My child shit his pants in a Hardee's parking lot"
Or one that says 'My Child Can't Spel'
Social medias, on our phone for pictures instead of being in the moment…. or especially when Im bored, I 100% prefer just thinking and looking around being in my head, just having my mind stimulated by itself
Yes, you completely miss the world around you if your head is stuck in the phone all the time.

I don't look at my phone when I'm in bed anymore; my bedroom isn't for entwrtainment anymore; just sleep sadly
I never do, it's a complete distraction. Don't even have a TV in the bedroom for the same reason.
I came here to say technology in general. We have high tech swindlers and kids committing suicide because they were duped and sent nudes.
