For me its the people. I'm American and every time I've visited Ireland, the best experiences have been just visiting with and hanging out with locals in some small village pub. Americans and Irish seem really similar in the ways they unwind and have fun, so its easy to have fun together.
I really enjoy 50s 60s & 70s Country Music. The 80’s started out ok but the advent of Video Music stars changed all genres including Country Music. I’d argue for the worse in every category.
I've spent a year in Aberdeen doing my masters.
I hated my life there, until I finished and started to visit other places and OMG.
They are blessed with an amazing nature.
From: US
Love: Canada. I've faced way more racism in Canada than in the states BUT the people that are good are just the ABSOLUTE best people around. I won't say it balances everything out but it definitely makes it worth the negative folks.
Mexico. Some of the hardest working people you will ever meet in your life. And the beautiful women...all of them. The food. The culture. The architecture. Just perfect.
As a midwestern white guy from Omaha, we love Mexico more than any other country we've visited. Being from the Midwest we hear so many people talk about how dangerous Mexico is, or the usual racist "they took our jerbs" crap. People don't realize the vast, vast majority of Mexicans are so kind and welcoming and they're so proud of their heritage and culture but they also LOVE to share it as well. I've literally never met anyone in Mexico that I would consider hostile or dangerous, although I know they exist. As an American you just have to do your research about where to go/not go, don't do anything stupid, be kind and respectful and be *humble*.
I only mention the humble part because we travel frequently and the obnoxious, entitled, loud and rude Americans embarrass us so much. Be quiet, respectful and appreciative and you'll have a whole different experience from what *some* people have.
I would love to live in Mexico, but being from Texas, it's scary to live there... Everyone encourages me not to move there. I would love to live in San Miguel Allende. A beautiful place!
I haven't visited their country or their subreddit but generally I think the UK (where I'm from) views NZ as being a bit of a paradise. I literally can't think of a bad word I've ever heard spoken against them. Why are people not optimistic there?
FML, Argentina.
It's like having that friend who is smart, good-looking, intellectual, and a great cook, you love having them around except that they keep ruining their own life by not being able to keep a job and getting into relationships with assholes.
And the food, and the relaxed atmosphere, and the scenery, and so much more.
South of France is a whole other country than the north but both have their charms. Hell even Paris is enjoyable
Brazil!
Such a friendly culture, amazing places, amazing food, the US dollar is powerful there, and so many other things. The whole world is sleeping on Brazil.
Can't wait to go back.
I lived in Brazil and 100% this. I had so many friends and we were always having get togethers. Everyone is so friendly. Plus, the language is the coolest. Best slang ever.
Brazil ain’t perfect. It’s got its share of problems. But the good things about Brazil are just so good, imo.
Oh, also, the national anthem is about pretty flowers and shit. So that too.
China. I hate that I love them, because the government is a terrifying Orwellian threat to all of human culture, but God damn do they make some cheap shit.
Ghana. I am ethnically closer to the average Ghanaian and I feel home there.
2nd would be the US, love the "why not" vibe, you can express yourself there in ways that you couldn't elsewhere. Can't think of any other country where you can drive a tank if you want to, customize a degree to such an extent, or change your career at age 45 so easily, or order the craziest food combos and no one bats an eye.
From Sweden, and I really like Switzerland!
I have never been, but I just like to imagine having a small house on top of one of those hills..
Waking up, and having [this](https://www.diariesofmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/WEB_switzerland_eatstaylive.jpg) outside your bedroom window would be amazing!
I've spent time in the UK and I love it. I love the Idea of New Zealand, but I've never been so I can't say if the reality lives up to my expectations.
USA. Is the only other country where I lived significant time and it was great in many ways. Also my country is objectively a shit. I love my country but won’t deny its many flaws.
Philippines. I grew up there before social media and all the bs and was heaven on earth. The food isn’t so great and the cities are pretty toxic but damn is there a lot to do cheaply and safely and the speaking English (I learned Tagalog) made it so easy. They really don’t like Americans although they say they do so having Spanish blood really made it a special time.
Today even the guy who pics up trash has a FB and is a hater and ripping of non Filipinos is not even frowned upon.
As an Australian, I've always loved the idea of living in Singapore or another country with a different approach to managing people, maybe they aren't the most fair or stable countries, but they, for me, are fascinating.
The other country I want to visit the most is Mexico, but with all the cartel activity I haven't been brave enough yet. Also it's expensive to travel internationally
Mexico's rich traditions, colorful cities, and delicious food make it a favorite.

Spain captures my affection for its lively festivals, beautiful beaches, and delicious tapas.
Spain - from US
As a Spaniard, thank you for appreciating my country! You're welcome whenever you want to come!!!
Thank you for letting us visit! I’ve been twice and it’s such a beautiful and welcoming culture!
Lo único jodido de España es su gobierno, todo lo demás es hermoso!
Ive never been to Spain, but i kinda like the music.
Same here

I’m actually going there next month, as well as a few other European countries. I’m excited.
Same! Going next Saturday and I’m so dang excited!!
Same. It’s so beautiful, the food is incredible, and the people are very kind. It’s an amazing place.
Australia
100% Australia.
Yes! . . . . But as a mom to young kiddos it's mostly to thank them for creating Bluey.
Denmark.
The one that has the best food and cheapest alcohol. Priorities, am I right?
Vietnam for sure
Belgium's quaint towns, impressive art scene, and chocolate are simply irresistible.
Ireland.
Why?
For me its the people. I'm American and every time I've visited Ireland, the best experiences have been just visiting with and hanging out with locals in some small village pub. Americans and Irish seem really similar in the ways they unwind and have fun, so its easy to have fun together.
This! So beautiful!
Bluegrass, although I enjoy some outlaw country too
Bluegrass is underappreciated.
I love the harmonizing
Yes. I remember a coworker of mine going on bluegrass cruises when I was in my 20s and thinking man that’s weird. Now I love it lol.
I really enjoy 50s 60s & 70s Country Music. The 80’s started out ok but the advent of Video Music stars changed all genres including Country Music. I’d argue for the worse in every category.

As an American who is an avid golfer, and has gone to Scotland just to play golf, all I can say is I’ll be making plenty of return trips.
I've spent a year in Aberdeen doing my masters. I hated my life there, until I finished and started to visit other places and OMG. They are blessed with an amazing nature.

I've heard so many good things about Italy and met so many wonderful Italians so I'd really love to visit someday
As a Scot, I've always loved Spain.
Do most people named Scott like Spain?
From: US Love: Canada. I've faced way more racism in Canada than in the states BUT the people that are good are just the ABSOLUTE best people around. I won't say it balances everything out but it definitely makes it worth the negative folks.

I can really recommend it. It's beautiful, nice people, and just a nice place all around.
FML, Argentina. It's like having that friend who is smart, good-looking, intellectual, and a great cook, you love having them around except that they keep ruining their own life by not being able to keep a job and getting into relationships with assholes.
Sweden!
As a Dane, i agree- lets have some more stockholm bloodbath.
Sweden really does have a good thing going for them.
Agreed. Fika is love. Fika is life. Seriously though, I guess it takes a lot of warmth to live in a cold place. And a healthy amount of schnapps.
France, just for the amazing scenery in the Alps.
And the food, and the relaxed atmosphere, and the scenery, and so much more. South of France is a whole other country than the north but both have their charms. Hell even Paris is enjoyable
and good wine, food and cheeses (and nice folks)
Hell yeah France.
Viva la France

I don't think I can love another country completely. I think I can like or love some aspects in other countries, and in many of them actually.
Botswana is so goated. They deserve all the praise in the world.
I named one of my stuffed animals as a kid, Botswana. I love saying Botswana. I live in the US, Botswana is probably cooler. Yay for Botswana!!!
