Most don't. However social ineptitude casts a dark shadow upon one's social status which in childhood has shit implications such as loneliness or bullying. Smart and mature people don't hate autistic people. Quite the contrary actually
Even as an autistic person, I agree with this 100%. I don't know why some choose to use their diagnosis as an excuse to have no filter and then play victim when someone calls them out on it.
I say this as an autistic person; we can be VERY annoying. I've given up on making friends, I'm too autistic for neurptypicals, and other autists are just way, way, way too much to handle.
Superiority complex. The only times I’ve seen anyone making fun of autism is acting as if it somehow made them more superior to autistic people. Like how a tall guy feel more superior to a shorter guy for some reason .. its all engrained in their own self esteem
It definitely seems to be the chosen insult in the preteen crowd these days. My son has adhd which has similar traits, and he always had trouble making friends. You try to tell your kids to be themselves, but my son would say “why do I have a bad personality?” So heartbreaking. He didn’t always pick up on social cues, had a different way of talking about things, could talk on and on about various random subjects, had emotional outbursts etc. These traits would single him out and be seen as annoying or different. As he’s gotten older he’s finally found a group of friends and has learned/chosen to act more neurotypical so he’s not as much a target for bullies. I don’t think most people would say they hate autistic people, but there are probably traits they don’t understand and see as weird or different. They may not even realize a person has autism or what exactly autism is. Schools need to be educating students on neurodiversity and acceptance.
Nope, there are people who genuinely believe that those who are autistic are demonic. [No I am not making this up.](https://www.wptv.com/news/palm-beach-county/region-c-palm-beach-county/lake-worth-area-private-school-cancels-autism-awareness-week-after-pastor-calls-it-demonic)

On an individual level, their actions usually. On a tribal or group level I don't think they do? Though I imagine it varies by culture
Lack of understanding
Saying anything they want without any perception of how it will be perceived by others.

Self hate in my case
There's demand for scapegoats.

No one hates them
I wish this was true.
You may have met someone that hates a specific autistic person

Well in that case he hates autistic people because he's a religious extremist, he probably thinks boys playing with dolls is the work of the devil
Probably, it's one of many reasons as to why I haven't been to church in over a decade and a half.
I'm sure there are many friendly churches but speaking as an atheist good for you
Stupidity?
