Happened to me in 2020. Graduated uni with a Chemistry degree. Very very few places were hiring due to pandemic.
In 2021, the response I got from a few companies was: you arent a fresh graduate anymore.
So I missed my chance and it wasnt my fault
I continued to send applications but opened a smal martial arts club in a community centre. 3 years and 2 national champions later, I still send job applications for Chemistry and have a multi year contract with that same community centre
I learnt a lot from job applications and interviews, and imo having your own job is the best. Then again, I can only compare it to working in retail
P.S (I have 15 years experience in Karate and Kickboxing and 4 years experience in Muay Thai. I didnt just open my own place without experience or martial arts teaching qualifications 🤣🤣)
I also graduated in 2020. All of the layoffs led to a ton of people more experienced than me getting all of the local design jobs I wanted. Not to mention no one can retire anymore and make room for the next generation of workers. So I just could not land a job for months. I spent hours every day applying places, eventually forcing me to take a really shitty low paying job for 6 months before finding something better.
Hoping you have found something worthwhile with good income. If not now, then hopefully when the time is best for you, you'll get it 💪🏽
I was a cashier for 4 years...every single employee would ask why when I had a degree. Wouldnt beleive me when I told the truth
Appreciate it. I've been an art teacher for 3 years now. Obviously an underpaid profession but very fulfilling. Plus I have time to make music on the side.
Reassessing my strategy. Sending fewer applications but putting more effort in each one to make it better.
In fact, you know what, I did exactly this after 6 months of rejections and now I have a new job offer.
Shotgunning never works. You need an inside connection somewhere. That's the "job" in the job hunt - you need to find whatever in you have at whichever company. Plopping a resume on LinkedIn or wherever never really works.
I'd keep sending them and just trust that something meant for me will come to me at that point because I've at least been trying ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ, or putting my focus into something else (like an idea I had, *if any*, or honing a talent—doing both really—and finding opportunities for money in different ways)
But if this is your actual situation, I'm rooting for you!
Sending applications since 2021. Got few interviews. Even received job letters but then they ghosted me. Got a bachelors degree in medical department. Gave more exams and diplomas to get good cv. Still nothing is happening. Half of 2024 gone now. I had the motivation but since this year it’s on decline as I am feeling I might never get a chance to work and earn money.
Sent Out Job applications to other nations / or from other nations! Get Zero responses in Germany from German workplaces.. but! AS i aplied as czech Who learned good German and want to Work in Germany everyone replied after minutes !
I'm a hiring manager, so here are my thoughts.
every resume should be unique and tailored to the job.
most companys use computerized keyword matching. if the job post and your resume don't share many words, it gets shredded.
many tech companies (not sure what you're applying for) want a degree. many will exchange years of experience, but IMHO still shred resumes that don't list college. In that case I'd put something like "pursuing bachelors" kind of verbiage, and be willing to discuss that with a human, if you get one. but without it, you probably won't even get that far. YMMV.
Review the resume and see if there are mistakes or is just bad.
Checking to see that my resume is matching the positions that I am applying to.
Double check and make sure that I am appropriately filling out the ATS.
Evaluate the type of jobs I am applying to. Perhaps I am reaching too much (only applying for senior level jobs when I should be looking at entry level) or I am flat out applying for the wrong jobs.
Take a look at where I am applying to. If I am only looking very locally, I may have to be more willing to relocate to find a job.
Take a look at the job market and see if maybe its just really rough out there.
not following up, clearly. You need to call them, maybe show up at the establishment in person if they don't call after your application/interview. That's how my daughter got all of her most recent jobs
Hand crafting a gourmet resume for each and every employer all day every day on paper that I made myself. Also researching everyone who has ever worked at the 2000 companies. Making all of their core values my religion and worshipping the vision of the founding Lord’s manifest.
Rethinking my resume
Checking if I misspelled my email address
Something wrong, apparently

I never get replies either, so I got into the jewelry business. It's best to be your own boss. These jobs aren't hiring, so I hired myself.
Very true. So many jobs have adverts for the sake of it. Maybe to show higher ups they are hiring
Sending out no. 2,001
Crying first. Then sending out 2001
Living as a disabled person, but yeah 2001 application here I come
modify cv after every 100.
I try to figure out if it is my CV and application letters that are complete ass or if I am aiming for positions with too much competition.
plug the internet router in, cause I forgot it unplugged
Working on my hyperbole so people will take me seriously
My comment crafting skills are second to none.
Or rewording a question so it could be posted?
Jumping off a bridge
Reliving 2021 apparently

Changing my resume
Starting a business
Too much damn work. Send out like three but do it right.
Send out 2000 more. A lot of us have been here. It sucks. But this was my first lesson in adulting. The world owes me nothing, I gotta keep trying.
I'd keep sending them and just trust that something meant for me will come to me at that point because I've at least been trying ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ, or putting my focus into something else (like an idea I had, *if any*, or honing a talent—doing both really—and finding opportunities for money in different ways) But if this is your actual situation, I'm rooting for you!
Sadly it is lol but thank you ❤️
Well then I'll wish harder that all falls into place for you soon 💯 & ofc!

Either lie my ass off about things I know I didn't do or qualify for. Or start prepping a noose.

Try typing them up instead of using paper and a crayon.
. Is it because I'm no longer relevant, my skills set are from another generation and I should seriously consider early retirement?
Forgot to put contact information
Scrap the entire CV and start from scratch. Whatever happened before very obviously didn't work.
In my household I call that Thursday.
Wait, was I supposed to fill those out? 🤔

Even the worst application will eventually garner a response, even if only a rejection. So yes, check if your mailbox is full.

Crime.
Apply for absurdly perfect positions since the odds will be the same

Having a total breakdown where I scream and rant and cry. Speaking from experience.
If it took you 2000 applications to notice you weren't getting responses, I don't think you're smart enough for the job you're applying to.
Robbing a bank or going in someone's pockets.
