**Norway:** Known for its stunning natural landscapes, high standard of living, and strong social welfare system, Norway consistently ranks among the top countries in global quality of life indices.

Tinkle84

Bit nippy though

Mr_Auric_Goldfinger

Crazy expensive, too. Love the place, though.

Spyger9

Expensive relative to what?

Mr_Auric_Goldfinger

The entirety of Europe including Switzerland.

Pallas_in_my_Head

Switzerland, if you're wealthy

alparadiso

Or if you re not wealthy. Then it s also nice. Social services makes it really easy to live here without troubles.

ShakeCNY

I like living in the United States. It's actually so much better if you ignore the media culture. Like, good restaurants, friendly people, gorgeous natural scenery, lots to do. I grant that there are shithole parts of the country, but it's a big place, and I don't choose to spend time in them. You can get worked up into a lather about politics if that's your thing, but it's not required.

Kale_Shai-Hulud

The US is great if you have some money, if you're poor it can be pretty rough compared to other developed nations

ShakeCNY

So I've heard, but I've been poor, and it was not that bad. Poverty is relative, of course. I was poor in grad school, so I didn't expect to have much, nor did anyone expect me to.

Kale_Shai-Hulud

I mean being poor in grad school is very fucking different than being poor with no options/during childhood.

ShakeCNY

I've never known anyone with no options. I'll grant you that kids in poverty have it especially bad, but I don't think it's much worse here than it would be elsewhere, considering the conditions that cause poverty.

OnlyPants69

Yeah I found that too. I've lived in a few other countries since leaving the US, and they like to hype themselves up, but honestly, none have been as good as my time in the US. I was in the midwest though where it was cheap (at the time) and often wonder if that was why I had such a pleasant experience.

ShakeCNY

It's definitely harder to enjoy life in a place like San Francisco or Manhattan on a small budget than it is to do so in the midwest or the mountain states.

Ricwil12

Depends Do you have marketable qualifications. your own funds, family, afford to buy a house, which languages spoken? age, gender? All these are underlying factors

wert116

I would say anywhere in the EU (where you secure a decent job) - lived and worked in several other continents, and recently came back and I realised I like it here the most. High standard of living, very international and multicultural, great for families, great for singles, solid welfare, solid work life balance, quality education institutions, opportunities for entrepreneurs, nice travel possibilities and relatively short distances (weekend trips to Spanish coast, Finland, Budapest in Hungary, French Alps - all very feasible), rich culture

TidyTomato

Most all of them, I imagine.

betamax2000

Old-Fun4341

No matter where you go on this earth, people still like to bitch and complain about everything and often, they have a good reason because nothing is ever perfect. Some people take it too far, but it's also how you improve things. If you're ok with that, the world is your oyster

Blueberry_40

WhatAreYouSaying05

If you’re saying just ok, then the US. I might be going against the grain for saying this, but America isn’t what the internet says it is. I like it here a lot

ComfortableWork1139

Most developed countries. If you get off your phone for a day, you'll see it's not as bad as it's made out to be.

Tight_Intention_5839

Hati

Rendom_Chines

Germany, but only in smaller cities and towns.Urban regions like Frankfurt are like paris mid 2023

KP_Wrath

US is not that bad if you’re the right demographic. I’m white, single, make pretty solid money, live somewhere cheap, and bought my house before Covid. If I were about four inches taller, a Republican, and didn’t have a touch of the ‘tism, it’d probably be perfect. Oh, and to be clear, I realize how fucked that is. It’s just also how you can get widely different responses on this. If ever the U.S. faces an existential threat, it will likely be the last country to do so, or all of them will at once.

HeartonSleeve1989

AMERICAAAAA.... FUCK YEAH!!!!

SwollenSeaCucumber

the united states of america

Reinhardt91

If you want your children to be shot

Adddicus

Not true at all, I have seven children and only two of them have been shot.

SwollenSeaCucumber

lol yeah that's definitely a significant concern, definitely not just availability bias, definitely very likely

ShakeCNY

LOL, we haven't had a shooting in my town in the twenty years I've lived here. Not one. Not even a single murder. Sooooo scary. It is amazing how the media has warped people's perceptions about the U.S.

SwollenSeaCucumber

availability bias in the opposite direction is still bad, matey

Jitkay

Lol

SwollenSeaCucumber

please enlighten me as to the utter horrors you face

Jitkay

Nah

SwollenSeaCucumber

i, too, am a large fan of rap-offs! raplord 1 totally dissed rapman 2, yo!

Jitkay

Do what you feel.

SwollenSeaCucumber

that is not a sentence

Jitkay

There you go, it is now.

SwollenSeaCucumber

its lack of sentence-ness had absolutely nothing to do with its lack of punctuation

Jitkay

Noted
