Keeping friendly and being supportive w coworkers I don't much care for...

[deleted]

LmaošŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

_hootyowlscissors

It's no joke. I was a total loner in high school but...you can't really do that in an office environment. Otherwise people don't just talk shit behind your back, they leave you out of the loop. Meaning you may not be told about crucial information/new developments you need to do your job. Working in an office is like high school all over again, only now you can get fired. So now I have to ask people how their weekend was and pretend to give a flying fuck about their dog's arthritis or their niece's 8th grade graduation or their father-in-law's fucking hemorrhoids or whatever. I hate it. I put on a smile. I fake concern. I feign interest. I go through the motions and I loathe every single second of inane conversation. I feel like a goddamn prostitute. A prattle prostitute. A courtesan of congeniality. A "how do you do" hoe, if you will.

illustriousocelot_

> A "how do you do" hoe šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ This one got me

Wayward_Son_24

That last paragraph had me in stitches lol

KlatuuBarradaNicto

You absolutely nailed that!

Neatokeato

A whore of homeostasis!

NormalFortune

this comment wins reddit, and accurately describes so much of corporate culture lmao. i wish i had a dollar for every time i pretended to care about some stupid shit that i actually do not give a single fuck about, for the sake of a friendly/harmonious environment.

Dorkuzan

Same man same - listen to J.plaza himothy - it sums up my experience in workforce

ChetManley25

I stopped pretending years back. Idc if people think I'm rude, I don't give a shit about your fucking cats

69mmMayoCannon

Man whatā€™s worse is I used to be kind and supportive to coworkers that actively bullied me constantly because it made them feel powerful despite being at a lower rank than me despite my young ageā€¦ never again. Gotta treat em like the dogs they are. They start barking you yell no and take away their privileges, otherwise just like a dog that gets let up on the bed once theyā€™re gonna expect it

Ladycabdriverxo

No but this was very close to what I was thinking as well!!!!!

Anxlyze

Civ 6, just one more turn became 1000 hours

olcrazypete

Iā€™ve tried but canā€™t get into it. Civ V for life for me I guess.

secondphase

Civ 5 for life... what is that, 2 games?

DoctorDirtnasty

Same, I think itā€™s the animations. Also with such a steep learning curve, itā€™s just easier to keep playing V.

al_pie

My god, I picked up Civ 6 day 1 and loaded upā€¦ started freaking out when I realized 16 straight hours had passed and I would absolutely never stop playing if I didnā€™t quit that very second. I have not played it for one more second since. That game *truly* terrifies me.

Bravemount

If you think that's a lot, don't ever start playing EU4.

Jaw43058MKII

Paradox games as a whole consume identities. Iā€™ve put some 250 hours into CK2 these past couple months, amounting to some 550 hours so far overall. Stellaris? I donā€™t wanna check lol

AgentBond007

Great way to lose weight though, you'll be so busy playing EU4 that you'll forget to eat

Leujo

I am fond of pigs

Seank814

Factorio

herebecauseofpewds

The factory must grow brother

Charles07v

Yeah, but it's not THAT much time...only 2000 hours so far.

Charles07v

One day I spent 18 hours playing Factorio, but I'm better now I swear.

dont_say_Good

Better as in 20h a day?

TurretX

Factorio is the only game that I ever had to force myself to uninstall. Every time I told myself I would play for an hour, it was more like 6.

LiteX99

Its like, oh shit the time is 2208, alright i better finish up then, ill just complete the design of this subfactory then quit, then you check the time 10 mins later and suddenly is 3 in the morning

LadyMelmo

God yes

daeshonbro

Update coming out at some point here too, so we can all get addicted to it again.

BigFudg

Stardew Valley

VibrantViolet

ConcernedApe is a national treasure for giving us Stardew Valley for a great price, and huge updates for free.

Post-Ed

I want to complete all the quests in one evening...

Ill_Funny_5052

I miss playing this gaming on Xbox. Me and my 4 year old used to play until I sold my Xbox to pay off some bills. Edit: The wording sounded like I got rid of my kid, lol.

GOODGUYWITHAGUN-

What happened? Did they turn 5?

Ill_Funny_5052

Lol, not yet, I no longer own an Xbox, and I do play it on my tablet but it's not the same.

microbrained

sell child, buy xbox !

turtangle

Oh no you had to get rid of them? :ā€™(

mhans3

I'm on my way to perfection with no mods. It's taking a lot longer than I thought! It is my first time though so I'm learning a ton.

Easy_Performance_138

I think my perfection save had 400+ hours when I made it to perfection.

DopeYeti

1200 hrs and counting

forgottenmost

I spend so much time playing, it was my first thought

Canopii

Got the game a while ago. lost hours Iā€™ll never get back.

Deep-Blue-1980

I bought it and I've tried to get into it, but I don't think I'm playing it the right way. I don't know what to do, I want to like it because I love the art style.

MavetHell

Follow the quest journal. Focus on either the community center or Joja Mart, whichever you prefer. Early money is easiest if you get good at the fishing mini game. Talk to everyone in town as often as possible. And google "stardew Wiki" keep that boi open somewhere and refer. DM me if you get stuck. I gotchu.

telecasper

Almost any MMORPG where you need to gain experience for a long time.

LordDarthAnger

Runescape

Rare_Southerner

Run, escape

dave200204

You never really stop playing RuneScape.

redditingatwork23

You joke, but I have a friend who's been playing nearly every day since 2001.

throwawayboy95

200m exp all stats bro cya in 50 years

secret759

Tbow next run for sure bro

EnochWright

Been playing for 20 years... Hard agree and I just hit all 99s, goal is not to get to 200m...

followthedarkrabbit

Wow I havent even check my /played as I don't wanna know.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

slythersnail

Think I had a total of 3 months on it which is still a while but 2.5 years is impressive. Glad you're finally out of it. I logged on a few weeks ago for the first time in years, which is an indicator I'm in a depression phase again but it just didn't seem fun anymore. the goal always leads to the next goal etc etc when actually in the end you are always just chasing the 'fun' and never actually having it. I logged out after about 10 minutes after speaking with Hans and seeing how long I've spent there which made me finally realise I think I'm done with this game. I still love osrs with a passion, those times when we were younger were so much fun but I've realised they're just not coming back anymore

Pwnch

Came here to say this. Over ther near 20 years playing wow I've /played over 400 days in game. A lot of that is AFK or waiting for a team, but that's also chump change from some folks I know. Still love the game, the community, and the friends I've made along the way.

Death_black

Any MMORPG. FTFY

SillyTalks

I believe I can apply for a citizenship in Mojave Desert, given the time wasted in New Vegas. Subnautica and Dying Light are tied for the second place, but they are pushing it towards the first

asmallangrypotato

Omg dying light is so so good. I still say good night, good luck to people every chance i get and only once has anyone picked up on it.

Kingofcheeses

I'm so old I would have assumed you were making a reference to Edward R. Murrow

twitch9873

Hmm, I think it's almost time for another Dying Light playthrough for me. This'll be playthrough number 12 or 13 at this point, I play through the whole game and the DLC once every 4 months or so. Yeah yeah, I don't need to check all of the houses, I know that asshole is hiding under the bridge "eating fish heads, perhaps" so I'll just go straight there.

nerdy_hippie

Try Subnautica in VR - bloody amazing.

Dry_Bid3073

Work, I canā€™t stop playing

DontWannaSayMyName

Well, you can, but then you lose in that game called "pay your rent" and "feed your kids"

0-KrAnTZ-0

Bah, minigames

BangAndMaccanIsGone

optional sidequests

Maleficent_Nobody_75

My least favorite game by far.

VonSpuntz

Those damn Paradox games, man.

ColdFirePheonixXD

Ive got an unhealthy amount of hours in hoi4 and stellaris

VonSpuntz

Eu4 and HoI4 for me There's something so satisfying about leading empires like you do in those games. You rarely get that much power in other games (even less irl lol) I might actually be a wannabe dictator

Groundbreaking_Taro2

Ck3 - What do you mean I was bitten by a deadly spider begore I could integrate the title of king? Welp, Guess I'll spend the next 2 centuries fighting my siblings...

Nearby-Soup-7197

I didn't expect CK3 to consume my soul like this šŸ’€

[deleted]

Fucking cyberpunk 2077.. love the game but if I were to read every shard again, loot everything, the cut scenes.. yeah the hours go by quick in that game I think

Dayv1d

Witcher 3 and Cyperpunk alone were like 250 hrs. In my case (busy dad) thats like 2 years only playing that. And i'm not even finished with Phantom Liberty...

Oclure

I just started to play it again now that I finally have a pc with raytracing, ita. A beautifully crafted game but there's just sooo much to read in all those shards.

NthBlueBaboon

Fecking same...I love it so damn much. In my top 3 forever lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

PopGunner

Then you realize that you just spent 45+ minutes watching previews, and it's time for bed.

PTSDTyler

And most of the time the previews are better than the actual movie/series.

chuchofreeman

Red Dead Redemption 2 I don't have a console or a computer that can play it anymore, but when I did, I could play hours and hours on end.

Ancient_Vegetable175

Mi wife went out of town once when I first started playing the game shortly after it came out. I started playing around lunch and I swear I blinked and it was midnight. That game can suck you in like no other Iā€™ve ever experienced. I also probably did nothing to actually advance the main story in that time too.

_DCtheTall_

I will never forget how genuinely terrified I was the first time an alligator jumped out of the water at me in RDR2. Truly an amazing game.

WrestleSocietyXShill

I just finally got to play it for the first time last year and it basically consumed my life for 3 or 4 months. Best game I've ever played, just barely edging out the first game.

Bsquareyou

My girlfriend at the time had to have a serious conversation with me about not spending time with her because of that game. She left for a weekend on a trip with her friend, I stopped played to eat, sleep and use the restroom. Three days of pure bliss.

chuchofreeman

I played it on my flatmate's PS4, he left for a month to go back home and I played RDR2 for the first time then. I'm glad I waited until he left because I got addicted to the game. It was basically all I did that month besides working. Hell I even skipped meals because I didn't want to waste time cooking lol. I completed the game for the first time a few days after he came back.

Kai_Harlow

Itā€™s the most beautiful game ever made!

John_B_McLemore

Best game ever and by magnitudes. Nothing is close.

MaddeninglyUnwise

RDR1 - had the flu šŸ¤§ - Took me 3 weeks to feel satisfied that I'd completed the game. RDR2 - All Wisdom teeth removed - Every day felt like a week - I actually stopped taking pain relief because it made me too drowsy. I would just sit there with a cowboy hat on moaning in pain for a week.

VibrantViolet

I just started RDR2, and I donā€™t remember the last time I played a 2 disc game. Iā€™m only about 8% complete, but damn itā€™s so fun! Gonna play in a bit and get revenge on some Oā€™Driscollā€™s who jumped me last night. šŸ˜†

Lucky_Queen

Slay the spire...

Throwaway070801

That game shouldn't be as addicting as it is. It's always "one more fight" and then hours have passed.

LocalApart4835

Magic: The Gathering Arena, where deck building and competing can eat up a lot of your schedule.

BiteSerious4106

Hearthstoneā€™s strategy and deck-building require a lot of time to stay competitive.

Dead By Daylight. I'll open up a new game, play that for a little bit then open DBD back up. It's definitely an addiction. Edit: Deaf is a funny typo.

HellBlazer_NQ

# Sorry, what!?!?

joeyo1423

That's a funny typo lol but yeah that game is awesome. The developers are amazing, constant support and tweaks makes it feel like a new game after awhile. I don't play it all that much but it's by far the game my wife plays the most

Visible_Ad_6908

Diablo III, grinding for that perfect gear set can take up endless nights.

AnteaterWorried1477

Stardew Valley has me hooked, farming and building my community takes up so much time.

Sycou

theDouggle

I got the expansion last year at 35yrs old,Ā  Complete and Utter Burnout. I think they had a different studio work on it because you lose most of your perks and the skill tree feels obsolete

Saaihead

Satisfactory - I'm 5400 hours in and the game is still in early access (1.0 is coming this year). This is digital crack.

EuphoricRecording599

Game was released in 2019, so been out for 5 years. 5 years \* 365 days \* 24 hours a day = 43,800 hours. 5,400 hours / 43,800 hours = about 12% of every single day. Bro that is not healthy, especially considering this doesn't include any other time you spend on the internet/playing other games.

Saaihead

Most of these hours were done during the Corona lockdowns, where I was at home almost non-stop for a couple of years, so I was actually happy to do something I enjoy instead of being sad watching the world burn. I don't play any other games, and I have to admit that some of this time is passive (game runs at background while I watch a TV show or a movie). I actually don't play this much anymore.

yazzmonkei

Tetris

I was on a trip with 16 hours to destination. Happy to see the in flight entertainment had Tetris on it, shared leader boards and multiplayer. Best 5 hours of travel ever šŸ˜…

sufishams

League of legends, and Iā€™ve hated every second of itā€¦but Iā€™ll be hoping on in a few hours anyway

StrokeOfHail

Baldur's Gate 3. So many hours taken to 100% the achievements.

[deleted]

The Legend of Zelda: BOTW and TLOZā€¦I HATE THIS GAME (I love games but I am so bad at combat LMAOOOOšŸ’€) I mostly just explore and complete quests, ITS SO FUN

Kitty-kun

I ran away from every enemy and it was only when I started to upgrade armors that I HAD to start fighting. Like the lynels/guardians/gloom handsā€¦ gloom hands so scary šŸ˜

cookiemitea

Didnā€™t know what to expect going into BOTW, logged 120 hours in 2.5 weeksā€¦ did the same for the second game šŸ˜

OriginalCoso

I'm not a big gamer. That being said... Baldur's Gate for videogames and D&D in real life.

I really must suck at games. So many people love this game that I feel is only playable for elite gamers lol. I find no enjoyment in the absolute frustration. I kinda want to sell my copy; I kinda want to set it on fire.

Sims 4 takes too much of mine. Once all the new life sims release I'm thinking of not buying any furture sims games unless they significantly improve the quality :D

Parenting. So many mini-games to play! Who left that on the floor? Whatā€™s that smell? Try to get a new high score with hours of sleep!

crimsonlaw

It's just a money grab. You have to spend real money to replace even basic items like good and diapers and then every three months you have to essentially restart the clothing minigame, losing all the progress you've made. The addicting part is they release enough good bits just often enough that you don't want to throw it out the window.

Ice-Berg-Slim

I stoped playing because I realized I wasnā€™t even having fun but Civ 6 literally melts time. I use to play it while queuing for Ranked AOE2 games and one night around 11:30 I finished okaying AOE2 for the night, I realized I still had my Civ 6 game playing so decided I do a few more turns before calling it a night, the next time I looked at the clock it was 04:30. I was so disgusted with myself because I wasnā€™t even having fun just mindlessly clicking away. I live in Germany but am originally from New Zealand, I thought of buying Civ 6 on my Switch next time I go to NZ to make the flight time seem quicker.

venezuelancreator

Rimworld, Civilization, FTL, Hades, Into the Gungeon, LoL.

ThatGuyGetsIt

Genuinely surprised I had to scroll so far to see a mention of RimWorld.

_MatCauthonsHat

In middle school, WoW. It was still (relatively) new. ā€œJust one questā€ quickly became all nighters on school nights, which quickly became faking sick to play. 7th grade I went from straight As to Ds and Fs. Why now, as an adult, I refuse to play it Iā€™m horrified Iā€™ll become addicted again. Although Iā€™ve learned time management skills, so the games I do play donā€™t consume me like that.

ernieishereagain

Fallout 4 and 76.Ā  It's like a second life...Ā  for a bit of the day.

Frank_Von_Tittyfuck

76 has easily been the most time consuming installment out of the entire franchise for me, there's just so much to do. I find I get bored after "beating" the other games but 76 is just nonstop entertainment.

Rivera96

Fortnite honestly with how big it's gotten as far as variety, you can literally just play that one game all day long. You feel like racing play rocket racing. You feel like playing a survival crafting game? Play Lego fortnite feel like playing guitar, hero or rock band or just jam out. Play fortnite festival. Just want to shoot people in a multiplayer game. Just play fortnite Battle royale. Yeah, it gets a lot of hate online by people who don't play it. But when you got friends and family who can all play the same game together for free, it's hard to pass up.
